I am a professional in the holistic healing arts and a musician both, and a former editor of Heartsong Review magazine, so, um, trust me, I have heard good and baaaaad New Age music. This is specifically a CD designed to induce states of consciousness, and it is very successful at that. Specifically, for inducing sleep and/or deep restfulness. It uses deep slow binaural beats to entrain your brainwaves to a peaceful and hemispherically balanced state, and if you want to learn more about it find the Monroe Institute's website and research it.
As far as music goes, its pleasant and deeply spacious, slowly flowing new age music - deep slow synthesizer washes as its called, and underlying falling rain sounds on the second of the two cuts on the album. Its well produced and recorded. I enjoy listening to it, and it makes me breathe deeper, or fall asleep if needed. There is LOTS of really bad new age air pudding out there that I would not call musically successful, but this is really excellent for what it is. I would recommend it for sleep, meditation, relaxation, reducing hypertension, calming your baby down, yoga, making a peaceful sacred space along with candles (DO keep them in specifically designed aka tempered votive holders as you may fall asleep and having a solo standing candle burn down to your table top turns your table into a giant candle and perhaps your house...), etc...
OK, my review should say, I can really feel the effects of this CD, I put it in my Top Ten of psychoacoustic albums! So get it already! Wholeheartedly recommended. Don't see one for sale here on Amazon, hmm. Well, you can't have mine! Cheers!
