About the Artist
Rarely has the NEW AGE music scene experienced the elegance of this new CD by Cobalt 2. Laura Lee, the composer, has woven "Reason to Dream " into a symphony for the soul and human experience. The beautiful piano and violin solos with overwhelming synthesized themes weave this great music into velvet to comfort the heart and mind. Bill boardman, the arranger has outdone himself. With each track invading the mind and consciousness of the listener. Many who have experienced "Reason to Dream" cannot stop listening. It grabs your attention leaving one hungry for more. Laura Lee is a gradutate of the Univerity of Miami who began her career in Drama and Music. After appearing in many local and regional plays, she turned her attention to music. As a recognized Psychic sheturned her great talent to composing, beginning her career in 1996. Her first compositions were arranged and performend by Regional symphony orchestras.New Age soon became her first love and in 6 month the musical melodies were written. Bill Boardman is a music educator with a degree from the University of Virginia, skilled in arranging ,Bill and Laura Lee were a natural partnership with Bill Performing synthesizer magic.
Product Description
Laura Lee and Bill Boardman come from different musical backgrounds. She pursued drama and music at the University of Miami, while Bill teaches piano and has been in pop bands since the age of nine. The combination that is Cobalt 2 leaves nothing to be desired in the realm of engaging relaxation music, built on the structure of pop music (think before girl groups), back when easy-on-the-ear tunes were not options. All dressed up in a coating destined to put evil on hold and smiles showing All teeth. The titles of the tracks alone tell the positive nature of their newest recording, Imagine That. Biography begins with a simple tapping rhythm, as if Michael Myers has finally learned his lesson and the Halloween theme can move to major chords. The simple orchestration of all man-made sounds lets in a sunlight that easily envelopes the CD's entire hour. There is a twinkle spreading over the piano solo (the main instrument here, and on other tracks) that seems to be the Golden Hour of the Biography - the time when a white-haired man looks back on his life's story and regrets yet wishes nothing to have changed. For The Dance we are invited to more underling bass, less like a true dance and more like the positive picture of a dance at a wedding, with granddaughter dancing on granddad's feet. While the pensive tranquility of Heart's Passion is a hand holder; a gorgeous tune with enough of a smooth beat to keep it upbeat and out of crying's path. Again, the electronica/romantic arrangement walks an elegant tight rope between stylish and moody. For the pure piano lovers among you, My Celebration will feed the need without going completely John Tesh. There is still a need to feel pop and mix the natural ivory sound with the vibrancy of electronics, without resorting to their purely novelty side. The two worlds blend gratefully; and on this particular tune, think of the theme to Laws of Attraction (film with Julianne Moore), without the New York element. Reason to Dream gives a lone country feel to city life once the bass line shows, the way a dance track would shake without too much rhythm to spoil it. On their site and in the CD booklet is the message of what you're hearing: Imagine that we all come together, that we all help each other. Imagine that. Wouldn't the world be a better place? Enjoy the Music, it is all that I am. It comes from my heart. Every song tells a different story. And like the best storytellers of a generation, these do; without the clutter of words. The name of the band came as romantically as the music seems to. Says Laura: The band name was actually determined because we would write our music looking out of a window. Outside is a lake, and when the sun would set, it would be cobalt blue. Cobalt blue. Cobalt 2. Two meaning that there are two of us. That is actually how we named ourselves, looking at the night sky. So where and how did composers collide? Bill and I met at a music store. I was actually a drummer. However, I have been writing melodies on the piano all of my life. I've written several songs that were played by the conductor of the north Miami symphony, and had a concert. Bill was my piano teacher. As time went on we just decided to create the music. So the story goes. He would arrange my melodies and co-write. Yes, I do have a theatre background and yes, Bill is a music teacher. I would consider our music New Age, but if you listen to it... it really has a lot more emotion. I believe the music is more intense and is more complicated than new age. It has a classical feeling also. The songs tell a story. I wrote a song for my daughter. That is 'Ashley's Song.' And we wrote a song for Bill's unborn son. Bill Boardman has gigged, but Cobalt 2 hasn't performed recently, so the CD is the only place to catch them. They are planning on going on stage with a Yanni-type orchestra or violins, but as Laura explains, It is not really gig music. If you listen to the music, it has the feeling of a movie theme. Imagin

Anytime listening.......2007-02-03
Stephanie's voice is amazing both live and recorded. Sultry, sweet and haunting at the same time. Definitely outside of the box. I find this cd easy to listen to anytime of the day, especially while I'm unwinding. All the songs are beautiful and I have no problem listening to the whole cd without skipping through it. I have recommended this to all of my friends.

breathless.......2006-05-31
The sound from harnoy;s cello is enough to make me cry. she produces such tone and anyone that doesnt agree is uneducated. what can i say elanor rigby the phrassing outstanding ofra has been and still is one of my favorite cellist.
Beatles Like I've Never Heard Before.......2005-02-10
I borrowed this CD from the library out of curiosity and what a delightful suprise. The interpretation of Beatles music is wonderfully simple - I especially love the different variations done with the same tune in some of the pieces giving them a fresh sound. Harmonies between cello and violin in "Norwegian Wood", "Across the Universe" and "Girl" are mesmerising. Mostly played with a slow tempo, this is great soothing music after a stressful day. This CD is definitely worth purchasing for a twist in popular Lennon-McCartney compositions.
4 stars for song selection, otherwise 5 stars for interpretation.
Interesting Cover, but Bad CD.......2004-06-05
I can not believe that Ofra is even famous. Her playing is so stiff and lacks phrasing. Her tone quality is horrible. The only reason that she makes recordings is because her father is rich and he bought her a several million dollar cello and paid symphony orchestras to let her play solos with them. But, it is interesting to hear a cellist play the Beatles. Only buy this CD if you have boughten every cd on this webstite and have a little money left over.
Beautiful and Relaxing.......2004-05-21
The Beatles and Ofra Harnoy! The best of both worlds! What more could you ask for? A friend gave me this CD, and I have enjoyed listening to this right before bedtime every night. Ms. Harnoy, I applaud you for making some of the finest renditions of my favorite Beatles tunes. If you're a semi-professional classical musician like me and you don't have this in your CD collection, you're missing out--Big Time!!! 5 + stars for a wonderful CD!!!!
Lovely and powerful.......2002-01-01
Before you write this off as another attempt to "muzak" the Beatles, listen to Harnoy's lovely playing on "She's Leaving Home," "Across The Universe" and "Girl" and see if you still feel that way once you've heard them. A great set of interpretations by a most evocative cellist.

One Bizarre Recital - or Compilation!.......2006-10-03
The Christine Brewer is one of our more important heroic soprano voices of the time is an understatement. For those fortunate enough to have been in the presence of her performances as Isolde there can be no doubt that this is a voice of huge range, flexibility, intelligence and burnished warmth. She is most assuredly a star on the ascent.
The selection on this strange CD is puzzling: 'Great Operatic Arias' these are not. Though there are some of the big ones included ('Don Giovanni', 'Tannhäuser', 'Alceste', 'Oberon', and 'Euryanthe'), the program is fleshed out with operettas from Lehar, Kalman, and Rodgers and even some concert arias such as Beethoven's 'Ah, perfido'! Brewer is accompanied by other singers where indicated and by the London Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by David Parry. But oddly enough the works are all sung in English translations - and some of these translations are poor ones at that.
It does seem a waste of time to include 'You'll Never Walk Alone' from 'Carousel', but that particular song allows Brewer to demonstrate amply that the mezzo range is a strong comfort zone for her. Despite the odd choices of works here, what makes the album work is Brewer's extraordinarily beautiful voice. She sails over the orchestra, tossing off difficult passages with utter ease, and always reminding us that her instrument is never less than one of beautiful sound. If you can get past the English versions and the mixed bag of works she has chosen to sing, you are in for an hour of beautiful vocalizing! Just don't let this album be your introduction to this very fine artist. Grady Harp, October 06

A disc of rare perfection.......2003-06-08
I have had this disc for a year and still play it several times a week. Suede's other two discs are excellent. This one surpasses them by a mile. The songs range from playful to heartbreaking, and every one is perfect. Suede also provides trumpet and guitar solos on several cuts. Anyone who has had the good fortune to see her live must own this CD. Anyone who is a stranger to Suede and her music owes to him-or her-self to check out this wonderful performer.
Jazz Blues singer..........2001-12-31
Imagine a cross between Ella Fitzgerald and Bette
Midler, throw in a little Rosie Clooney, add a dash of
Louis Armstrong, and you might get some idea of
Suede's unique musical talents and abilities.
My Dad was a jazz piano player in the 1950's and 1960's
and I grew up around some of the great jazz giants.
Seeing Suede live and hearing her incredible scatting
definitely brings me back to the great talent from years ago!

Album Description
In January 2001, we released our Lord of the Rings music tribute song, "Tolkien (The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings)" to MP3.com. Within a month, the song skyrocketed up the charts to #14 of the MP3.com charts out of over two million songs!
Two years later, the Brobdingnagian Bards are at last completing a music CD dedicated to the JRR Tolkien's. This album is soundtrack, if you will for the books, filled with entirely original Lord of the Rings music. It is a mostly instrumental album that aspires to show our memories of the Lord of the Rings music world.
If you enjoy the music of JRR Tolkien, consider checking out the album that started it all--Songs of the Muse which features the original release of our #1 hit song that is still the most-popular Celtic song on MP3.com, "Tolkein (The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings)".
Customer Reviews:
The lads' best yet!.......2006-08-08
This CD is the Bard's best yet. This time the guys are playing it straight, no jokes, goof offs, or silliness. The songs are heart felt and wonderful. My favorite is the song of the Ents.
This CD is where you really get to hear the lads as MUSICIANS.
They were/are always great entertainers, but this is where their real musical talent comes to the fore. Great harmony, great folk art, and melody. Buy This!!
Tolkien would be proud.......2005-05-14
I cannot think of any group who could do what the Brobdingnagian Bards do-that is, to capture the spirit of such a classic and record it. This album is a great addition to any Tolkien fan's library. If you are new to Tolkien, or spent hours a day travelling through Middle Earth again and again, you'll love this CD. I know I do! :)
Excellent!.......2004-11-06
A 'must have' for all Tolkien fans!
I didn't know about the existance of The Bards until I attened the 'North Georgia Celtic Festival'. They were there and I heard them play several songs on this CD and several of their others. When I saw this CD being sold indoors, I immeadiately wanted it, being the LotR fanatic that I am. Bought the CD and had them sign it also... Probably the best thing I've done with my money in months...
Personal favorites include: The Psychopathic, Chronic, Schizophrenic Gollum Blues, Weathertop, The Heart of Fangorn, and Now It's Time To Go (Bilbo's Farewell Song). The instrumental pieces are awesome also... I feel like I **was** in Fangorn, Lothlorien, Moria... everywhere they covered in their lovely music.
Still Loving the Bards!.......2004-06-20
I'll have to admit that the first time i listened to this CD i thought it was a bit strange. But the songs grew on me, and i love it as much as anything else the Bards have done. (Which is a lot!) Legolas is a bit silly, but other than that one track the album is great fun to listen to, and you can really get the feeling that this is an album the Bards did out of their love for the books, and defenitely not something they just did to make money or jump on the bandwagon.
Magical Memories.......2004-04-08
I will grant the nay-sayer that this album is not for everyone, but having all of the Bards albums, I would give this one a well-earned "Huzzah" any day. The sheer scope of the album, the fact that it is entirely original music/lyrics, and the growth it represents make it a winner.
But that's all academic stuff. From a listener's viewpoint, this album is magic. The sheer lyrical beauty of songs like "Ring of Hope" and "Heart of Fangorn"...the joyous abandon of "Hobbit's Dance"...the musicality of "Moria"....
My advice is buy it and see for yourself--I have four. :)

a great piano based power pop record.......2004-10-22
I really only checked out Mark Mallman for two reasons: He's on Badman records and the record store guy I trust seemed to really like the record. I only heard the first two tracks at the store and they convinced me to check the record out with no real prior knowledge. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Mallman was able to keep his songcraft up to par with the only songs I had heard. "Hardcore Romantics" is the first single off the record, and rightfully so, but the record is full of songs that have single material written all over them. His melodies are edgy, yet fun and his voice seems to fit the music perfectly at almost all times. Mallman's strong suit is definitely the rockers. This isn't to say that the ballads are bad, quite the contrary most of them are great, but at times it seems that Mallman's vocal style does not always fit with the more laid back structure of the songs. It seems that Mallman is making an attempt to bring retro-arena rock to the world of indie rock and to be honest, I really hope he succeeds.

I'm fortunate enough to work with Cary, the guitarist of The Soupbone Throne. I bought a copy of their CD off of him at work on a lark, and upon getting home and popping it into my CD player, I was awestruck. The instrumentals are wired tight, Coby provides some seriously tortured vocals, and overall this band blows away all the corporate rock bands being promoted by Clear Channel nowadays. There is a depth to the vocals and a clean, unique sound that defies categorization. I'm a metalhead, my mom is into country, and my sister likes pop, but we all agree that The Soupbone Throne has more than enough talent to be a national act. Buy this CD and you won't be disappointed. Better still, if you live in the New England area, check out their website at www.thesoupbonethrone.com for show dates and check them out live. This band is the real deal. Their shows sound every bit as good as their studio release.
You Must Buy this Album!!!.......2005-01-30
Although I consider myself more of a heavy metal person, I really enjoy the Soupbones's music. the grooves and lyrics are so addicting! The rhythm section is so tight and tasteful that I get completely drawn in the mode of each song. To top it all off, the dynamics are awesome! every song seems to carry you along on a journey with a lot of ups and downs. the Soupbone Throne definitely has a unique sound but it grew on me quickly.
Summary: I'm addicted to this album!!! Buy it and you will be too!!!!!!!!!!
The Throne Rules.......2005-01-20
I heard this cd at a record store in Maine. The guy working there was playing it in the store, and I immediately fell in love with it. Really cool lyrics and excellent grooves.
Great Music, Great Band.......2005-01-02
A friend of mine at college at UMass played this CD for me, and I was hooked. Then, I happened to catch their performance at The Middle East Nightclub and was awestruck. The singer prowled the stage like a caged panther, the bass player was a mass of energy, bouncing around all over the stage, the guitar player seemed to me the most serious one in the band, added beautiful melody and sang backup vocals, and the drummer, well, he was just perfect for the band. That night, the band played a lot of new material not on this CD, but, as great as this CD is, their next one could be even better, from the songs that I heard. Either way, you need to get this CD. You won't be disappointed.
Unbelievable.......2004-12-31
I had seen this band play in Massachusetts and was blown away by their talent as musicians, the depth of the lyrics, and the bands showmanship on stage. I had actually gone to see a friend of mine's band play, and The Soupbone Throne opened for them. Unfortunately,The Soupbone Throne ruined the rest of my night because none of the following acts even came close to these guys. I immediately purchased their CD and it hasn't left my CD player since. I have also read some of the phenomenal reviews of this album, including one review that called them 'The Next Big Thing'.I couldn't agree more! Buy it, Buy It, Buy it!
