Editorial Reviews
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
"There is a trance quality to some of these compositions, but there are also squeals and roars, along with assorted percussion flourishes that help to build musicial tension and even humor."

Album Description
"Critical Path" by Critical 7 is an eclectic journey into the world of electronic music. Critical 7 combines an expansive array of musical influences and conglomerates them into an album that takes the listener on a journey with its own unique sound - a sound that draws musically from influences in classical music, electronic music and film music in a driving, lushly produced collection of moving electronic pieces. Spanning eleven emotionally charged tracks plus one bonus track (Within Awhile), "Critical Path" is dark and moody, with a stunning atmospheric vibe all its own. This journey is one that you will hopefully not forget: one that combines elements epic melodic trance, ambient, pop, electronica with powerful vocals, soaring melodies all set ablaze to infectious dance rhythms floating atop lush textures and harmonies. This album is also an enhanced CD for use in your computer with hot links to the Critical 7 web site, lyrics, graphics, wallpaper and more.At over 60 minutes in length, Critical 7's "Critical Path" is an inspired soundtrack to life itself, described as being "marvelously conceived--extraordinarily well-layered... a meticulously wrought collection.." and "utterly infectious".
The journey begins with "Critical Path"...

Goodbye to a great talent.......2004-07-18
Entrancing and evocative!! Great "sleeper hit" album.......2004-03-13
I originally heard about this through a friend who told me that I had to listen to this new concept album by this Canadian group Critical7. There are some cool re-mixes that resulted from this album including the rare radio edit of "In Your Mind" released on Sony's Dream Dance 29 (this is what I originally heard of Critical7). Of course Critical7 is also on the newest Gatecrasher Live album with some more harder trance flavored mixes that are cool. But this album is killer, great programming evocative melodies and lyrics and at times a cinematic sound.
They call it a "concept album" because it was designed at the time around brand new synthesis technology so the sounds on this album are far out and creative but the tracks are enjoyable, sometimes edgy, sometimes laid back and chilled out and don't fall into the "experimental" realm etc. Very enjoyable listens whether you're a clubber into dance music or not. I wouldn't call this album straight trance either, it really mixes a lot of styles and seems heavily inspired by dance rhythms with great vocals (some tracks don't feature vocals and they're brilliant as well). Think more along the lines of a dark-edgy Enigma meets electronica/dance/trance meets Paul Oakenfold meets Delerium. Can't wait until the next Critical7 release...highly recommended!!!
