Why learn new tricks when you can still get big laughs milking the old ones? Everyone's favorite foul-mouthed canine puppet simply takes the same material he's been using since Don Rickles was in short pants, and stretches it over a series of musical pastiches, from calypso ("Underage Bichon") to, um, Yiddish musical theater ("My Mama"). With contributions from Adam Sandler, Conan O'Brien, Jack Black, and SNL vets Maya Rudolph and Horatio Sanz, this disc features more guests than a Jerry Lewis telethon (alas, no Eminem--though he gets name-checked on the hip-hop jam "I Keed"). The Jerky Boys-style crank calls quickly wear thin, and the bonus DVD is a hodgepodge of static performance footage of the best bits on the CD, plus some agonizing filler (who invited that Dell computer dork?), but on the strength of the hilarious songs alone, Come Poop With Me is nothing to turn your nose up at. --Kurt B. Reighley

3 out of 5 stars Dude...You're Getting This DVD.......2007-04-22

For me the best part of this DVD was watching to see which Z list celebrity they were going to roll out next to get schooled in an insult contest by a rubber dog. And really they don't disappoint because they are more than able to find total losers willing to do anything to get their ugly mugs on TV. The whole thing works as a theater of the absurd where some jokes work and others do not but you have to take them both together. His "Sense of Smell" song is a bust as all the jokes are production line garbage that he can just apply to any tool sitting in the front row. But true to his name he can insult with the best of them, so much so that I, famous insulter that I am, found myself getting jealous that I couldn't lay the smackdown as well as he could.

Early on Triumph lets two MTV wannabes wander out and then reality checks them both, fun but they seemed to be having fun as well. This is not good. We the viewers much prefer to watch the mark/deserving chump get all worked up into a state of righteous indignation. "How dare this dog besmirch by nonexistent reputation." Enter Vincent Pastore from "The Sopranos," a man whose sole job is to be a hanger on and to hope that nobody points out that he has been swimming with the fishes since season 2. He actually thinks that he has a shot against the mutt, but when Triumph drops the "How do you keep the weight on if you don't have a job" line everybody realizes that he is out of his league. Conan O'Brien, The Man (and for once I say that as a compliment), shows up but ultimately disappoints. But for me the highlight was watching as two of the biggest stooges in the history of marketing came out and got put in their place. Ben Curtis (the Dell guy) and Jared Fogle (former fatty turned Subway mouthpiece) both make utter fools out of themselves. Jared, as usual, tries to turn his lowest moment into a commercial for his masters. Ben, thinking he still has a career, blathers on about some "Broadway" show he did but can't find the chair located directly behind him. They are both idiots and hopefully they will think twice next time they get an itch to go on TV.

I am surprised to say this but I can recommend this DVD. The jokes are vicious, which is just how I like them. It is also wholly original; Triumph takes on the role of the judgmental fan that gets the opportunity to tell the celebrities just how stupid they are. I did find it amazing that these people were willing to go on stage just to get steamrolled by a puppet, but I guess that is the reality TV culture we live in. Janeane Garofalo and Robert Wuhl just stand there and take it, which I'm sure was good for them but not so much for us. Sure some of the stuff can be skipped over, but the DVD is short and I can say that it is a worthy way of spending an hour. So for an experience like no other (unless you own other Triumph DVDs) I say check this out because it is a good time had by all not on stage. ***1/4

3 out of 5 stars Has its moments, but overall tries too hard.......2006-03-16

I admit to being a Triumph fan. His work on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and guest shots on "Hollywood Squares" are great. I finally bought this album last summer, almost two years after its release, and although some tracks brought laughs, the wanna-be edginess made this disappointing. I got laughs from "Who", "Benji's Queer", "Cats are C**ts", "Together in Pooping" and "I Keed". I have no problem with lowbrow humor, but, some songs are just vulgar for the sake of being vulgar, such as "No Rules in the Animal Kingdom", "You Had to Work Blue", and the tribute to his mom. I can honestly say that there were parts of those three songs where I actually cringed at some of the stuff he said, and I don't get easily offended. Triumph is funny on TV, when his dialogue is somewhat limited, but in an uncensored environment, he tries way too hard to be offensive.

4 out of 5 stars kkkggkkgg ghhhgkk eeyeyeyeaaahhhh!!.......2006-02-06

Bobcat is one of those comedians who much like Emo or Gilbert Gottfried and that one thing stands in your way of total enjoyment, and thats delivery. If you can get by an obnoxious or bad delivery you will love the comedian. Bob's stumbling block is that high grating, chugging and trembling voice of his and it's made all the more unusall when at a few points in the album he turns on/off the voice like a faucet.

Bobcat holds nothing back on this CD in that his career in every high (high being POLICE ACADEMY SEQUELS) to every low (almost everything else) gets touched upon. We get to laugh with him then at him and even a couple other things like Celebrity Boxing gets touched on. "Funny show, till they call you."

I'd love to give it five stars but when Bob is trying to simulate a conversation on stage, it sounds amaturish and starting off the CD with talking about sperm isn't a great ice breaker. He should have saved it for later in the disc when he gets to Granny Porn (Even Bob upon hearing about such a thing sounds disgusted.) Other bits like Star Wars movies, electric razors and hunting are even better.

I hope Bob comes out with more material, cause this one really made want ot root for the guy because I want to see him pick himself up or at the very least keep working so that another CD or even a DVD can get made. I never gave Bob much credit in the past since he always looked and sounded like an idiot (he still does a bit), but now that I've grown, he's grown on me and I hope to see more.

5 out of 5 stars I don't look like Bobcat.......2005-12-11

I don't look like Bobcoat, but I wish I did. He has a hot wife. Anyways, Bobcat is funny as hell, and just for the record, "Shakes the Clown," was brilliant. BUT, to the point, buy this cd, you'll laugh-even if you probably shouldn't be laughing. The only parts that might be over the top are the Christopher Reeve jokes. Don't laugh out loud from those-people might think you are a bad person.

3 out of 5 stars Medium Funny.......2005-09-30

This Disc has its moments. Instead I would go with Dave Attell or Dane Cook's firt cd 'Harmful if swallowed'. Oh yeah, Bobcat needs to lose the goofy voice. I noticed on this cd that he pushes the voice more than when I have seen him in interviews.

5 out of 5 stars Spongeworthy.......2004-07-24

This really is one of the best comedy CD's I've ever listened to. The timing, the tone, the delivery--it is all excellent. Political is interspersed with personal, and all infused with Bobcat's, umm, unique personality.

I listened to the CD, then listened to it a second time right away--and it held up very well. It inspired me to seek out his old recordings--which is not an easy job. I just hope that the next CD comes out sooner than the interval between this one and the last one.

I recommend this to any fan of standup comedy. It really is one of the most entertaining comedy CDs around.

4 out of 5 stars "I Got Fired From the Hollywood Squares!".......2004-03-01

I am a casual Bobcat Goldthwait fan. Well, at least until now, that is. I think this is one of the funniest live comedy CDs I have ever heard. Bobcat has been mostly sight unseen for about fifteen or so years now, but this CD more than makes up for time lost.

In this CD Bobcat doesn't attempt to play on his 'celebrity' at all, and gets huge laughs at his own expense: he even named the CD for an incident that happened to him in an airport when a woman came up to him and said "I don't mean to insult you, but you look like Bobcat Goldthwait." He covers several embarrassing incidents from his past in lurid detail to the audience's delight, such as when he went on trial for setting "The Tonight Show" on fire, and his disastrous movie "Shakes the Clown." He also covers a lot of other very funny terrain, in classic bits of standup like "Fabio And The Suicidal Goose", "Star Wars Fans Are Uber Nerds", and "The Hollywood Squares Downsized Me."

This is a truly entertaining album, is witty, and very clever. The only reason that I gave it four stars instead of five was due to some excessive language issues; otherwise it is the near perfect comedic gem that I highly endorse!

"There is no past and there is no future," says Add N to (X)'s Barry Smith. "It's just what happens when you turn the machine on." Time and space do have a way of collapsing when the trio switch on their ancient synths. On their third outing, quickstepping space-age robo-bachelor pad music ("Adding N to X"), fuzzed-up funk ("Incinerator No. 1"), and even fuzzier butt rock ("Brothel Charge") all share the same stage with the utmost civility. The mindless brilliance of "Monster Bobby" (think Steam's "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye") somehow seems to fit on the same record as the solemn electro-blues of "B.P. Perino" and the epic and medieval closing of the funereal "The Regent Is Dead." In the teeming nest of imitators that is rock music in the year 2000, it's nice to be able to say that the world can take refuge in Add N to (X)'s unique shtick: a future view cobbled out of the past, a nostalgia for a time that never quite was. --Bob Michaels

    Customer Reviews:

    3 out of 5 stars OK........2004-06-03

This album is pretty good. It still is not as good as the albums before, but it is pretty ok. Like 'Loud like nature' it isn't as much live like other ADD N TO (X). Older stuff like 'Avant Hard' and 'On the wires of our nerves' sound more straight to tape, live rock band sound. I liked that better. this is more slick, but not as bad as 'Loud like nature'.

    5 out of 5 stars Mind blowing.......2002-12-25

Add N to X are a weird band. There music is intense and at times a little bit too much to take. This album is one of their more accessible but it still tends to be mind warping. If you are interested in this band but haven't got any of their albums you should check them out-they are really good

    4 out of 5 stars cheesy peas.......2001-11-27

The best way to describe this band is to think of the sounds of devo and daft punk thrown in a pot and jumbled up, then filtered of all their cheesiness and innocent campness.

The vibes of this record bring to mind the buzzing electricity of someone sticking their fingers in an outlet socket, as the band present themselves as mischievous but dark at the same time.

Open minded people who embrace diversity and originality should love this album, but it should never be taken seriously or literally as it might end up driving you insane

5 out of 5 stars A Mini KORG never sounded so good!.......2001-08-02

This was the secound album I bought from Add N to X, its a great piece of work. Its a very gritty synthesizer driven album done with vintage synths and a real drummer (as apposed to a drum machine). I also like their use of the vocoder. This record is a little more pop than "On The Wires of Our Nerves."

    4 out of 5 stars Synthetic Revelry.......2001-01-18

This is a far more accomplished offering than Add N To X's previous "Avant Hard" album. From the onset, this trio of antique synth and organic drum dabblers builds insistent grooves with a pleasantly cheesy edge. There's a well-balanced focus on both the rhythmic gains that have been made in the techno arena over the last few years and the undeniable cuteness of synth-pop tunes from several decades ago. They're also not afraid to try their hand at the vocoder, an instrument which has become all to fashionable of late.

5 out of 5 stars Music that makes us feel happy.......2005-10-03

We have a couple of Peter and Ellen Allard CDs that both my kids (2 and 4) love, but I think this one is our favorite! I love Ellen's jazzy singing on the first track, "Glad to Be Me" and the cool guitar licks throughout. The range of styles, from traditional to rock gives everyone something to enjoy. The repetitive, add-on songs, like "Rattlin' Bog" are fun and even my littlest one can sing along. And there's nothing quite like the good feeling of hearing two little voices from the back seat singing, "And I'll sing every day of my life."

5 out of 5 stars A rockin' good time, for kids of all ages!.......2000-11-16

As a long-time fan of Peter & Ellen's work (I'm their daughter!) I was THRILLED to hear that they were in the studio working on a brand-new record. I hoped the new recording could live up to the standard set by their previous hits. When I heard "Good Kid," I was overjoyed! Peter & Ellen (and band, especially fantastic drummer Michael Allard-Madaus and guitar pro Duke Levine) sound *great*, the music will get you snapping your fingers and tapping your toes, and the lyrics appeal to all ages. Trust me, your kids will love it -- I know I do.

4 out of 5 stars A great follow-up to Ticket to Mayhem .......2005-05-24

So, its '89 and they're working on this album and they certainly have a few suprises. Insult to Injury is at least as good as Ticket to Mayhem, although it sounds vastly different from the latter.

Portaro's gruff vocals were replaced by Glenn Hansen, who has a distinctively higher singing voice. This gave in Portaro's words, "More time to pay attention to playing guitar."

The guitar riffs are catchier, the bass playing by Bono improved tremendously, and the songs are well written. Cangelosi comes back for drumming duty and the results are good.

It's really hard to describe what this sounds like exactly but a lot of the songs start out with a solo and then some type of break.

This album certainly did a lot to differentiate Whiplash's sound from other bands in the Genre at the time but it appears that didn't help them much case they broke up soon after this album came out.

They released two more albums that were like Sabbath meets Deep Purple and then the three originals Tony's (Bono, Portaro, Scaglione) got back together for "Thrashback" in '98. Tony Bono apparently died in '02, so no chance of a reunion. Man...

Definitely worth checking out; 4 3/4 stars!
