Product Description
Music for star gazers, planetariums and meditation. The Pleiades are a beautiful and brilliant cluster of stars in the constellation of Taurus. I have a large picture of them in my recording studio, and sometimes when I look at this picture, I am inspired to compose music, which is very different from anything I have ever composed or heard before. This album is a collection of these pieces.

The Pleiades are the subject of many ancient legends. For example, the Torajas, a primitive tribe in Indonesia, build saucer shaped temples in remembrance of their ancestors who "came here from the Pleiades in saucer shaped ships a very long time ago." In numerous reports of extraterrestrial encounters from different parts of the world the space beings indicate the Pleiades as their place of origin. For some reason many people feel a strong connection with the Pleiades. Perhaps, as the legends say, we are descendants of Pleiadian cosmonauts who settled here aeons ago before the dawn of history. I don't claim to know this for sure, but I do know that I love the Pleiades and that my "contact" with them through the picture in my studio, seeing them in the sky, and reading ancient legends about them, inspired this album. This is an awesome collection of unsettling melodies from the masters, not just some horror movie themes (though it does have some Psyco). You will end up playing a round of "Where have I heard that score before?" because these melodies are very iconic.
The only complaint is that the track listing is somewhat occult. One has to use amazon.com's track listings and fill in the numbers.
Still, this is a great buy!!

I would like to begin my review of this wonderful CD by stating that I am not a "kid." (unless you consider a 14-year-old to still be a child) I am, however, too lazy too start a new Amazon.com account before typing about this great CD.

Now then... In my eyes, this CD recieved 5 stars because of (what else!) the music. The quality of the music to be more specific. The sound of it was great and the selection of the pieces was pure genius. My personal favorite would have to be a three-way tie between Bach's Toccata and Fugue, Dukas' Sorceror's Apprentice, and Stravinsky's The Right of Spring.

I will leave you tonight with one final thought... Is it just me, or are most of the pieces from "Fantasia"? At least 7 (!) of the pieces are from that age-old classic. I think it's funny that they are on a collection such as "The Most Frightening Music in the Universe". And could the cover art be any worse?!

All in all it is a great CD to add to any collection. (and cheap!) Thanks!

I love this music! It actually evokes a homesick, yearning feel within me, but then we are all starchildren, aren't we? It soothes my spirit and allows escape from the earthly plane for a period of time....can't think of any other music that touches me so deeply. My favorite!

Beginning with other worldly. ethereal, calm, peaceful music ... essentially the whole CD consists of original soothing and relaxing sounds. Starting with synthesziers, the music is highly evocative, occasionaly creating a human-like humming, with chimes bursting the reverie. The initial melody weaves into other natural and lovely sounds. On the harp and flutes, Gerald Jay Markoe takes the listener on a cultural journey, first to the indiginous flute music of the Incas which melts into Orient flavoured magnificent delicate floral arrangements. This music flows and winds with awesome splendor taking us back to the Ocean of life, connecting us to an infinite harmonic unity. I first heard this music in the early to mid-1990s during meditation class sessions and have loved it ever since. Erika Borsos (erikab93)

I first heard this album in one of my Reiki sessions a couple of years ago and since then it has been my favorite meditation album ever. It's out of this world and I recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the ultimate mind - soul relaxation. I give it two thumbs up.

Working as a clerk in the Crystallirium ( Metaphysical supply store ), my manger Donnette adored this tape enough to have it in at all times practically. The sounds lull you into reverie and is more than perfect for meditations or ritual, a new age title worthy of my highest respect. As a sceptic I'm very edgy on buying any music online but if ever you'd trust another this is the time to do it. Sweet sounds, hypnotic instrumentals and talent at it's highest is what this title is.
