Cruising in the Moonlight

About the Artist
Lewis Ross father, a violinist, started Lewis out with classical piano lessons at the age of five. By the age of ten, the young Ross was a recognized prodigy. In his early teens, however, he happened to hear an album by the folk duo Gibson & Camp and was transported. His musical direction had been abruptly and permanently shifted to folk music, blues, and rock and roll. Guitars of all sorts, acoustic and electric, began to receive his focused study as he attempted to use the classical sensibilities of his years of training to serve the spirit of life he sensed in folk music. By his late teens, he was in a band that attracted the attention of a major record label, and he moved with the group from his home town of Detroit to Los Angeles.

Although that early band never took off, thirty years later Lewis is still studying, writing, playing, and recording music. Among Lewis many credits are touring with folkies like Chad Mitchell and Hedge & Donna, writing and performing on childrens records for Scholastic, playing in Nina Simones backup band, and writing and performing music for Story Theater during its nearly two year run on Broadway.

There is something truly remarkable that comes through in Lewis music. It is not just that he has incredible technique, or that he is a master of the ins and outs of melody and harmonization; it is something that was best put by another guitar player, who upon hearing Lewis play for the first time remarked, He plays as if his heart were in his fingertips.

Product Description
I've listened to this collection of highly crafted instrumentals over and over, and they have truly become good friends. They convey subtle but importand emotions with delicacy and concern, as good friends do. And, as you'd expect from friends, there is the sharing of growth and wisdom, the caring for the times of our youth, and the voicing of support for the future. It is the interplay of life that is contained in these pieces.
