Hooray for Hollywood!.......2007-07-22

I bought this CD to go with an Academy Awards/Hollywood Walk-of-Fame theme party that I did for work. It really lent that dramatic mood that I was looking for to usher in the theme as people entered that room on the first day after it was decorated.

Eh, It's Okay.......2007-04-24

For those that purchase soundtrack collages to have a variety of songs and themes, then this is good for you. Unfortunately, these tracks didn't have the signature Erich Kunzel version of the songs as he had on other soundtrack mix CDs. It was more like just that, a mix CD of different soundtracks and scores. However, it was a good buy in the fact that the tracks chosen had excellent sound quality and a sense of harmony.

we put this CD in on a long road trip. We played a guessing game as to which one knew the movie. The music was excellent.

Outstanding Film Music.......2005-09-10

This is an outstanding collection of film music. The sound is qulity is very good. The selections cover a good range from various film genres and time periods. I like this CD.

An Interesting and Gratifying Volume 1.......2005-08-22

Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops' interpretation of film scores on this first tribute to Hollywood is somewhat a mixed bag. A SUMMER PLACE was beautifully executed and true to the nature of this sensitive film that was made during a time of innocence. The BEN HUR, CAPTAIN BLOOD and OUT OF AFRICA selections were good. The interpretation of GOLDFINGER was a rather bizarre and blatantly bombastic exercise in overkill. This is a good CD for me because of the A SUMMER PLACE selection.

New Age music doesn't get any better than this.......2005-12-31

This CD is my favorite. Especially, I like tracks 10 and 12.
Track 10 sounds like monks chanting in a monastery. And Track 12 sounds as if it was recorded at the sea, with waves crashing at the beach. Just look at the names of the songs... they are futuristic and out of this world. Buy this CD, it will make you feel good.

My First venture into Vangelis....and I want more.......1999-09-28

I have listened to this album and am impressed with it...liking the later stuff rather than the old..Pulstar,Intergalactic Radio, Metallic Rain and Will of the wind being my favourites. I would be appreciative of anyones recommendations as to further albums in the spheres of these songs...email me:)

The best 70's Highlights of Vangelis.......2000-10-13

If you haven't yet purchased any of Vangelis' earlier albums, or you've just heard of Vangelis through his most current works, THIS is the best introduction collection of Vangelis' earlier works. This collection represents the best of Heaven and Hell, Albedo 0.39, Beauberg, and Spiral, his main RCA recordings. I would have given this collection a 5 star rating if it gave two crucial tracks from Albedo 0.39 album that is sadly overlooked. I'd have prefered "Nucleogenesis (Part One)", and "Mare Tranquillitatis" over the lesser-impressive "Sword of Orion". And also, not only is the excerpt from "Beaubourg" uninspiring, it suffers from a disturbing audio hiss which causes it to lose its atmospheric intentions. Nevertheless, Out of all the "Best of Vangelis" collections that are out there, this is the best gathering of his early works. His collection called "Themes" is his other "Best of" collection to own which represents the best of his non-RCA recordings from 1973 to about 1984.

Rap fan's take.......2005-10-07

I am a huge fan of rap music. My grandmother used to listen to G.Zamfir when I was little but I used to hate it. Now that I am 26 years old my musiccal tastes have changed. I heard "The Lonely Shepard" on the Kill Bill Vol.1 Soundtrack & absolutely fell in love with it. It is the most relaxing music that I have ever heard. Eversince I purchased this greatest hits album I cannot put it down. This type of music is for mature adults who enjoy the finer things in life. Compared to this rap is garbage.

Zamtastic!!!!.......2005-07-26

I've always been an admirer of the pan flute, but then again who isn't? If you are looking for the best at picking up ladies wearing chest waders and an men's evening fur, you look to the nook. If you are looking to the master of the pan flute, you look no other place than Zamfir. Evidentally, Zamfir is pretty busy because he just took ABBA album cover from ABBA Gold and used it for his album, but that doesn't take away from the pure genius of the man's music. I don't expect Zamfir to design album covers just like I don't expect J abs to reach things in high places with his T rex arms. I expect Zamfir to turn tha mutha out on the pan flute and he does that. I'm a little disappointed his cover of "Tubthumping" by Chumbawumba didn't make the cut, but I'm sure there is another gold collection coming. If you want top o the line pan fluting, this is your album.
