Live release for one of Scotland's most successful acts. The celtic folk veterans first 'live' recording featuring Bruce Guthro on lead vocals. Recorded at the Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow on January 25th, 2000. 14 of their biggest and best tunes, including, 'Rocket To The Moon', 'Maymorning', 'Siol Ghoraidh' and 'The Message'. Packaged in a slipcase with a 6 page full color booklet which includes photographs taken at the show. 2000 release. Standard jewel case.

Not the best Runrig album.......2003-09-04

This album is not the one you should buy as the first Runrig CD.
Runrig has fantastic songwriters in the MacDonald brothers, and many of their well known songs are included on this CD.

"Rocket to The Moon", "Edge of The World", "Hearts of Olden Glory" always sound great.

But, and there is a "but": this Runrig-lineup does not include the original singer, Donnie Munro.
All respect to the new (Canadian?) singer, but he just can't be compared to Donnie.
(and Donnie Munroe's solo work is no way near UP to the Runrig standard)

Start out with "Once in a Lifetime" (live), one of the best top-10 records ever made!
Best studio album: "Searchlight"

My favourite Runrig CD.......2002-04-12

I absolutely love this album. The first song, Rocket to the Moon is, in my opinion, a song perfectly balanced to describe the inspiration of true leadership. Vision, planning, hope and arrival at a promised field. So many weekends I look forward to coming home and listening to the whole CD. It just gets better every time I hear it. I would recommend this album very highly. If it had "Skye" and "Loch Lomond" live on it, it would be the perfect album for me. And I don't usually listen to much music!! Thanks Runrig, anyway.

Best introduction to the greatest Scottish band.......2001-06-21

This album is probably the best introduction to what in my opinion is the best Scottish/Celtic band ever,and in fact my favorite band generally.Runrig have been releasing albums since the late 70's and all of them have been of outstanding quality.Altogether they've written about 115 songs and except for a couple instances they are all excellent. Runrig capture the spirit and feeling of Scotland,especially Gaelic Scotland more truthfully and with greater heart than any other Scottish or Celtic music that I've heard.To listen to them is to be transported to the Highlands.For those with Scottish ancestry this can be especially strong.

This album includes live versions of 14 songs:rocket to the moon,protect and survive,big sky,siol ghoraidh,the only rose,dhinnse na firinn,edge of the world,hearts of olden glory,middleton mouse(instumental bagpipe tune),maymorning,the message,cearcal chuain,pog an oidche earriah,and Skye.

This is yet again a great collection of songs from Runrig, From haunting ballards to toe tapping jigs. A great CD to buy, and enjoy time and time again. If you have never heard of Runrig then this is a good way to start.
