A valuable resource for creativity.......2007-07-11
I have found Jeffery Thompson's Theta CDs a useful aid to creativity over the past 4-5yrs promoting calming and focus. I play it through Windows media player with SoundSpectum's G-Force frequency responsive image software to reinforce the effect and involve the visual brain.
Very good.......2007-06-26
I am very pleased with this CD, the music is very calming and relaxing. I don't know if it actually gets me into a theta state as I have no way of measuring my brain waves with an EEG device but it does get me more relaxed and stress-free and thats what I care about. Highly recommend it.
Takes the edge off..........2007-06-13
I find this CD really helps me rejuvenate and re-energize if I haven't had enough sleep or otherwise feel fatigued. It's particularly helpful on days following a night of insomnia, and leaves me feeling as if I'd caught up on the missed sleep. It also provides powerful assistance for creative visualization sessions.
GREAT PRODUCT.......2007-03-19
I LOVED THE CD'S, HOWEVER I DIDN'T GET THE BOOK. ALL OF THIS GUYS MUSIC IS PHENOMINAL. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
wonderful!.......2007-02-16
I have bought several guided imagery cd's for relaxation and have found the voices on them to be irritating or the content to be kinda stupid. So I bought some nature sounds like ocean waves etc and found them to be relaxing but not exactly trance inducing. This cd is amazing. At first it just sounds like a new age cd but when you use it to meditate it pulls you in to a state of very deep relaxation. My whole body felt tingly. I don't think I have ever felt so at peace. I plan on buying all his cd's and using them every day!!!

Lauren Wood.......2002-03-08
Bought this CD for a special song and loved hearing all the songs Lauren sings to on this cd. It's great to play during a dinner or when some friends are over.
No duds in the bunch.......2000-05-31
Lauren Wood, best known for her hit "Fallen" has put together an album of a dozen songs that takes this reviewer on a trip back to the Beatles. With at least 4-5 real hits waiting to don the airwaves, there are no duds in the bunch whatsoever. The ballad Back in Time, is so heart wrenching, it almost hurts to listen to the words. The Beatles influence is so strong, it was a little spooky. You can hear McCartney bass lines with that distinct melodic tone as well as Lennon-type vocals and guitar. Her voice is what makes the album complete. At times she's a deep contralto, other times she sings thin wispy BV's that blend with the music perfectly. The levels of musicalnship is very high. When was the last time you heard a cymbal cresando with mallets played this well (in the sure hit "Back in Time")? Look for the hits to be 1)"The Big House" song about subdivisions buring like the Amazon 2)" Back in time" - tear-out-your-heart ballad. 3) "I'm Usually Obsessed" - chicken-picken (dang near Country-Funk) guitar 4) "Twisted Reality" -complete w/ that trademark Hofner Beatle bass. Must listen Bruce
She's back, thank god........2000-04-14
Lauren Wood is one of those rare women, she has both talent and voice, and proves that she can belt with the best. Using reflections of her life, Lauren digs deep into her soul, and comes up with many fabulous tracks. Check out her web site. It's great. Glad to have you back, and hope for many more fantastic CD's from the best singer ever, period!
Lauren Wood.......2000-04-04
If you liked the cool jazzy sound of "Please Don't Go" and "Fallen" from Lauren Wood in the 1980s, you probably won't like the standard rock 'n' roll instrumentals and lyrics of this new album. The bonus track of "Fallen" simply doesn't belong with the twelve new tracks. I'm sad to see such a bendable voice as Wood's get lost in all too familiar rock licks. She can do so much in modulating her voice, that to hear thse songs indicates a loss of direction for her. I hope she'll return to what made her distinctive.

That Summer of 1967.......2007-02-07
Wow! This album brings back some of my most vivid childhood memories. With the exception of "Reputation", every song on this album is such a great masterpiece. Starting with "Wasn't It A Bit Like Now", an uptempo, 1920's throw-back, in a rock capsule, the song gets the CD going in fine fashion. I just love the lyrics, even though the modern part of the song is now so severely dated. Next , the tempo is simmered into a beautiful and reflective ballad, "On a Quiet Night". Jim Yester's voice is perfect for this lonely, late at night piece. It reminded me of the summer nights I spent on my Grandmother's farm back in the '60's. "We Love Us" is a pleasant ballad sung by Ted the drummer and Larry Ramos, the new guy in the band.(Ted is not one of the stronger vocalists of the Association, but the song is still soothing.) "When Love Comes to Me" is a mid-tempo love song that really grows on you. Terry Kirkman has a nice recorder solo in the middle of the song and then again at the fade. What can I say about "Windy"? Does 60's pop get much better than this?
"Reputation" sung by Brian Cole is the only dud song on the CD. It just doesn't fit.
Side two starts with the beautiful ballad, "Never My Love".
Oh, what harmonies! "Happiness Is" is the ultimate sunshine, "HAPPY" song that reflects the beach and those groovy times of the 60's. Russ sings on the next piece which is a middle of the road pop song. His voice is quite unique. Tha next song,"Wantin' Ain't Gettin'" is a sitar driven, psych-pop song that makes no sense. (Their version of the Strawberry Alarm Clock) and the album finishes with the masterpiece, "Requiem for the Masses". There are some real top rate harmonies in this tragic story. I never did get the message that was portrayed when I was 11 years old.
This marked the first album where many studio musicians were brought in so the album has a much more polished sound than the previous two LP's. Unfortunately, since the same studio musicians were so widely used in the 60's, the album instrumentation takes on the sound of The 5th Dimension, and the Mamas and Papas, and several other 60's super-groups. That's what made the Association's first two albums so unique. However, this was the first Association album I bought and it will always bring back those memories of "Quiet Nights" back on the farm, the summer of 1967.
An Association gem.......2007-01-20
I was pleased to see this became available. My LP of this is quite old and worn. To have this on CD is great! If you are a fan of theirs, then add this to your collection.
Cool album!.......2005-11-25
This album spawned two Top 10 hits,WINDY and NEVER MY LOVE. This album was originally released in late 1967 on Warner Bros. WS 1696(stereo). Mono copies bore a single W. This is one of a few albums that WB put out several months before they phased out mono. Also before they shifted to WB/Seven Arts for two years. Good, album, though.
Happiness Is The Association.......2004-07-10
With the temporary departure of singer/guitarist Jules Alexander, with his vacancy being filled by Larry Ramos (who still fronts the touring version of the band with Russ Giguere to this day), The Association struck commercial gold with their third album, 1967's "Insight Out," one of their most classic releases. It's got the group's biggest hit on it, the sunny #1 smash "Windy" (written for the band by a young female friend), as well as the all-time Wedding Day favorite, "Never My Love" (which reached #2). But these aren't the only great songs on the album---there's the ragtime rock of "Wasn't It A Bit Like Now," the dreamy "On A Quiet Night," the bouncy pop of "When Love Comes To Me," the rockin' "Reputation," the sitar-flavored pop-rock of "Wantin' Ain't Gettin'," and the totally powerful anti-war number, "Requiem For The Masses." Fabulous songs, performances, and vocal harmonies. When it comes to 60's "sunshine pop," there's nobody better than The Association. "Insight Out" is outstanding.

Great Sax and compositions compliment this multi textured CD.......1998-08-31
After hearing one of these tracks on a local radio station, I rushed out to order this one. This guy epitomizes everything I love about the sax. The songs are great too! From light melodies on "A little R & R" to manic tunes like "B.Y.O.G." and Donkey Stomp, and the light hearted "A funny thing". I'll be looking to back order some earlier stuff. If this album is any indication of his talent, I say Jesse Davis is a real "find".

Why emo was good once.......2004-05-27
I've had this album forever and it, to me, is an expression of emo when it was: (a) as a term, a much more precise description; and (b) as a body of work, good because it coupled actual musicianship and intelligent lyrical talent to garner such a true expression of raw emotion that to listen was to live that emotion, in a phenomenological sense. To this day, "the new hangout condition" (from which comes the cd's title) and "today or tomorrow" are favorites of mine. While my predecessor reviewers are right that this album (and, truly, karate) will never be "amazing", they can best be described as "honest and true", which is also valuable.
pretty good.......2003-09-16
this is a good cd. i really like the guitars in it and the voice is different than most other bands. id recommend it.
beautiful tension, brilliant.......2001-04-18
While some of the songs (new martini, the new hangout condition, on cutting) come up short in my ears of clear brilliance, the stark sonic landscapes and unexpected surprises of this album make up for what might be a transitional awkwardness. As always, this band succedes in impressing with their signature otherworldly sound, a combination of sorrowfull lyrics and intelligent arrangements excecuted with robot-like precision. Worth investigating further.
emo, post-punk, whatever just get it.......2000-02-13
"in place of real insight" is one of the finest pieces of music you'll ever hear. from the tenderness of 'today or tomorrow' to the manic 'it's 98 stop'. get it now!
a great new sound.......1999-08-10
this is my favorite album by one of my favorite bands. karate is the only group i know that has taken the energy of hardcore/punk and channeled it to almost acoustic songs. sometimes it makes you think you are listening to hardcore despite the fact that there is no distortion, the songs are usually very slow-paced, and geoff farina has a great voice and doesn't growl or scream.
also check out their first album and "the bed is in the ocean".

What brought me to this album was Fertile Ground's Navasha Daya, and I'm glad she did! Borsu is a Belgian producer of some of the finest in jazz/broken-beat/downtempo/soulful house music. If you're familiar with Jimpster and 4Hero, this will definitely appeal to you. Navasha Daya, Olu Butterfly Woods and Damia Da Costa contribute vocals and Mark De Clive-Lowe provides a remix. Insight is a throwback to the time before genre-fication -- where anything outside of the box was just good ole "acid jazz". 5 stars from me.

Customer Reviews:
Long Live Princess Diana!!.......2006-07-30
This is such a cool CD!!! It's soooo amazing!!! Why isn't this topping the charts! Karen Sokolof Javitch is a genius--she's right up there with Mozart and Gershwin. The rhythmic Broadway tunes get your toes tappin' and fingers snappin'!! Each song on the CD is worth listening to again and again and again! My utter favorite is He's Such a Man, like the reviewer below. But I like the reprise!! It's SOOOOOO HILARIOUS!!!!!!! Listen to it it is GENIUS baby!!! Here are the lyrics:
Diana: He's such a man! He's so different from all of those boys I've seen around!
Charles: Darling, I brought some books by Sir Laurence van der Post to read with you!
Diana: He's such a man! He's more charming and worldly than anyone in this town!
Charles: I brought my fishing poles! Do you like to fish?
Diana: And he treats me with respect and dignity!
Charles: I invited all the Navy officers to dine with us. I hope you don't mind.
Diana: And he's always a real gentleman!
Charles: Darling, now that we're married you don't have to call me Sir anymore!
Diana: He bowed and took my hand!
Charles: Do you like my new kilts?
Diana: He's the manliest man!
Charles: Want to see my muscle?
Diana: That the world has ever known! He's such a man! He's such a man!
*A picture of Camilla Parker-Bowles falls out of Prince Charles's diary*
Diana: Oh, Charles, let me help you!
Charles: Diana! It's just one picture of her--it doesn't mean anything to me! Look, Diana, it's just a picture of a time from my past--you're my future, you're my Queen!
Diana: Charles, you told me you were over her!
Charles: I am!
Diana: Charles, I am your wife!
Charles: I know...
Diana: I'll be damned if I sit back while your relationship's intact with that--with that---Camilla Devilla!
Charles: She's in my past!
Diana: I am your wife!
Charles: You are my Queen!
Diana & Charles (simutaneously): I am your wife!/You are my Queen!
That Karen's a smart cookie. 5 stars allllllllll the way!!!!!
Princess Diana Rocks!.......2006-05-26
Wow I LOVE this CD! My mom's gonna order it for me and I just can't wait! If you want to listen to samples visit JMR Productions Website. My favorite song is "He's Such a Man!" It's so bouncy and fun, it has me dancin' and singin' along every time! A bit of the script is available online--search "Princess Diana the Musical" and it should turn up. The musical's pretty good and very accurate. I just love the music--maybe it's not the best music ever, but it rocks for me!
Just plain awful..........2003-08-29
This is absolutely terrible. It's good for a few laughs, but beyond that, there is no point. Musically, it is full of cliches and has no merit whatsoever. It is an insult to the royal family and Princess Diana would be sickened if she were around to hear it. However, that said, it is EXTREMELY funny because it is so bad. Gag!
so bad it's good...almost.......2003-03-08
Sample lyrics:
"Everything happens at Buckingham Palace at the Palace at the Palace..." (Really, does it? Really, does it? Really, does it?) (party guests)
"Should I throw up now or later?" (Mmm, depends...who's around?) (Princess Diana)
"He's the manliest man and the grandliest gran" (The what?) (Princess Diana)
"Then she died, and now she's gone..." (Really? She died, and now she's gone? Both those things?) (Princess Diana)
Anyway, I laughed all the way through it. But you know, I listened to it. It's insidiously addictive.
A kitsch classic!.......2001-11-07
This either rates 1 star or 5, depending on your sense of taste. It falls into the same region as Precious Moments figurines and Franklin Mint plates -- if you like those, then you may well find this enjoyable. If you don't (and I certainly don't), then your reaction will either be horror or ironic hilarity -- indeed, it's hard for me to imagine the performers being able to sing these numbers without cracking up.
