Too often, critics dismiss hymns as merely functional, utilitarian relics--musically lacking in artistic sophistication. How sad to think that this perfectly exquisite recording of Anglican hymn/anthems is out of print and only obtainable at great expense from third party vendors. The thing is - I sprang for a $40+ import and it was more than worth it! What beautiful settings and selections... anyone who can get Dorian to re-release this treasure, God bless you! Listen to the sample cuts on amazon.com, and you will have only a hint of how fine this collection really is.

Stunning performances of uplifting music.......1998-12-05

This is a wonderfully uplifting CD full of hymns which are close to my heart (being Episcopalian) and which wind themselves through fantastic settings by Howells, Bax, Bairstow and others. Peter Conte has wonderful singers and leads them so skillfully that every performance sounds like a labor of great love and enthusiasm not only for the music but for the texts that are being sung. Peter proves again (as in the choir's Rheinberger and Victoria recordings) that he and the St. Clements Choir are at the very top of church music in America today. He also happens to be one of the best organists you will ever hear. Check out his "Orchestral Hors d'oeuvres" recording on the Longwood Gardens Organ (DTR9303CD). Great fun....

Highly skilled saxophonist who is also an accompolished composer. Definitely New Age and relaxation oriented type music. I prefer it over Kenny G. or Barbieri. Listen to it all the time.

This is an exotic instrumental album with wonderful melodies and powerful use of the saxophone. If you like new age or smooth Jazz, I think you will like this CD.

Excellent first album by American Celtic Band.......2002-03-11

This album blends traditional tunes with numerous new compositions written in the traditional style. The band is a three piece that features the vocals of Bekki Titchner, the rock-solid guitaring of Mark Titchner and the many faceted, Paul Fehrenbach.
The new works are wonderful and the traditional pieces are delivered with an appropriate combination of reverence and joy.
I look forward to their next effort.

Beautiful mix of Celtic tunes, new and old.......2001-09-22

Fieldstone's first album, 'In A Land Far Away', is a true gem. Of the fourteen tracks, not one disappoints. You'll find yourself tapping your feet, keeping time. "Lad Of My Dreams" and "As My Lover Lays Down Beside Me" are just *beautiful*, and "Song For Sarah" is such a sweet, sad, song...I cry each time I hear it. Bekki Titchner's voice rings true to the music, and the playing of Mark Titchner and Dr. Paul Ferhrenbach is right on. If you have a love of all things Irish, you Must pick this up!
And be sure to look for their latest release, 'November'...it's brand new.
