Forest Dance
Editorial Reviews
From the Label
Perfect for the discerning adult looking for a couple moments of rest and relaxation, Forest Dance is the second in a new series of new age/instrumental music inspired by nature. The album contains all original compositions by pianist Dan Siegel, and features Charlie Bisharat (Yanni) on violin, Damian Draghici on pan flute, Allen Hinds on guitar, Pedro Eustache on flutes/pennywhistles, and Randy Gloss on percussion.

This compilation of music by Dvorak played by Yo-Yo Ma is just beautiful. Ma seems to understand just when Dvorak wants to be super-Romantic and sappy and when he is in fact being merely his usual expressive self. The former comes into bloom with the Slavonic Dance, in which he's accompanied by Itzhak Perlman and "Songs My Mother Taught Me," with Patricia Zander at the piano. But when it comes to revealing Dvorak as one of the most insightful and truly passionate of composers, with a particular understanding of the cello, Ma's playing of the B minor Concerto (under Kurt Masur, with the New York Philharmonic), the latter description comes into play. Ma gets every nuance out of the cello, and the way in which Masur, for instance, leads the winds against the cello at the start of the 2nd movement is just gorgeous. "Klid" ("Silent Woods") is given a deeply affecting reading as well, under Seiji Ozawa. 2004 is the 100th anniversary of Dvorak's death; this CD is fine tribute. --Robert Levine
Customer Reviews:
Yo-Yo Ma is a genius .......2004-11-16
words fail me on how to describe performance in this CD.It's very good, one of the best interpretations I have heard in a very long time. I must confess that since i discovered Ma du Pre I have not been able to listen to anything else nor did I attempt to do so. But out of the blue I bumped into this CD by chance & after hearing Yo Yo Ma's phraising especially the 1st movement infact the whole of Dvorak Cello was like something new to me.Ma plays with passion, emotions & strong commitment to the music in a different way.The Ochestra is in top form & allows the solo cello to shine at the right time.I never thought there is another interpretation that could surpass M.Rostropovich(Im sorry to say this I know he is a living legend & the 1969 record with Karajan is held in high esteem). Ma is accompanied by my favourate violinist Itzhak Perlman on "Humosresque no.7 for piano" & "Slavonic Dance no.10 in E minor"- the results are so sweet as many people know Perlman is a romantic specialist his tone with Ma's cello is heavenly. With regard to the "songs my mother taught me" the cello sounds good not best for the track personally im so used to hear the song being played on violin. There's nothing wrong with the cello it's just that it 's tone is a bit too strong for the composition but it's very well interpreted by Ma. They call this transcription in musical terms. Actually Ma deserves an apology as im one of those who have accused him of lacking in emotions &"look at me now i can play anything" attitude.I think those allegations are baseless & unwarranted when u hear this CD u will know u are into something beautiful. Overall grab this very fast before many people realise Yo-Yo Ma 's greatest gift of song.

New Age music, ambient electronica, and spiritualized hip-hop received their first major, K-Tel-like treatment in 1996 when Virgin Records assembled Pure Moods. The "As Seen on TV" compilation quickly became a hot seller, and it would be nice to think that its popularity has as much to do with the music as the marketing. To be sure, Pure Moods offers genre hits aplenty: from Enya's "Orinoco Flow" to "Sadness" from Enigma; from a dance mix of the "X-Files Theme" to edits of vintage electronica from Mike Oldfield (Tubular Bells) and Jean Michele Jarre (Oxygene). Beyond other selections of beat-enhanced chants and a few other popular themes ("The Mission," "Twin Peaks"), the album, refreshingly, also includes a few selections noteworthy only for their originality and quality. A three-track section near end of the 70-minute disk features affecting soft African chants from Geoffrey Oryema, followed by "My Wife with Champagne Shoulders," a dollop of regal, faintly ethereal romanticism from master film scorer Mark Isham, then a robust piano workout, "The Promise" from Michael Nyman (The Piano). With so many elements of interest on its 17 tracks, the album's broad diversity is sure to have broad popularity. --Terry Wood

Only Needs A Bit Of M E H D I.......2007-07-31
Oh, Wow! This is a cd that will be liked by all who enjoy M E H D I, E N I G M A or E N Y A. It is the very essence of good new age. So tranquil, yet so spirited, this cd is a refreshing break from my well-worn collection, I just keep wanting to listen to it over and over again. I am amazed! It reminds me somewhat of the others in the series, but still very unique. This is music to the soul. Absolutely relaxing, as well.
ALSO RECOMMENDED: M E H D I ~ Instrumental Paradise Volume 8 .JUST GO LISTEN TO THE SAMPLES ... A TRUE GEM !
A classic.......2007-06-14
Great compilation of electronic music for it's time. A lot of depth to it, you don't get to the 5th or 6th song and start getting into what seems like "filler".
Classical relaxation.......2007-05-20
I loved the music on here they are so peacful like the xfiles theme tubular bells with the overy babbling melody and crockettes theme which was the best song with no vocals and they saved the best for last LILY WAS HERE with excellent non vocaling music with lite accoustic guitars and perfect saxaphone playing with a touch of soothing melody. My mothers into spiritual things mostly and she loves this pure moods mix of peacful music. I use to listen to this while I sleep I loved it but now I sleep with the fan on because I love to hear the sound of the fan while I sleep.
New Age as a child? Really?.......2007-05-17
I must have been around six or seven when I came across this cd through the TV ads. I couldn't buy it myself but I loved the music. It wasn't until I was much older and borrowed it from the library did I remember how much I loved this. I uploaded some of the songs onto my computer, only because I had downloaded some of them already. I started listening to the other pure moods and it's still the same.
Flowing music between ambient, new age, and soft electronica it pulls up its own forrest of emotion as it pulls you closer into the center of yourself. YOu find those pieces of you again that you haven't discovered. A must have for anyone wanting to get in touch with themselves, or just don't know how to relax after a hard day at work.
The Sway.......2007-05-16
I must admit, I've always felt kind of silly for owning this CD. Yet it's got wonderful songs on it. Each one sets a tone that carries you throughout. I've had this CD for years and I still pull it out and listen to it.

The primordial unknown--or the modern urban dweller's impressions thereof--has long been a staple of New Age music. So it was only a matter of time before some studio whiz got the notion to take the translation process one step further and bring that atmosphere to the dance floor. It's definitely authentic--the creators studied and borrowed genuine chants from African tribes--but just as importantly, it's remarkably seductive. The chart-topping signature song, "Sweet Lullaby," is indicative of what's going on in the grooves of the other nine tracks; ambient house beats burble pastorally while "multi-culti" samples ebb and flow gracefully, even romantically, through the mix. -- David Sprague

A Delightful Sojurn.......2007-04-14
Deep Forest is a must for those who like music that is relaxing and enthralling. This music creates visual dreamscapes in the mind where you explore. More imaginative than typical "new age" stuff. Even Tom Servo and Crooow lampooned most new age stuff on a MST3K show. They said to make a New Age album one only has to get a Synthsizing Organ, hold some keys down for infinate and get a contract! Deep Forest goes far beyond that!
Taking aborigone African drumming and piping, refashioning it with synthesizers, it creates dreamscapes of forests and jungles that are peaceful and relaxing. The perfect escape from the sounds of the city in a busy workday!
Get this album and relax for a while

i have looked everywhere for this cd and this is the only place that i could find it. it is the most relaxing music in the world. thank you so very much. Angie
Keystone album of Tribal Techno genre.......2006-07-06
Trust Peter Gabriel to blaze this trail, leading a small horde of other musicians and artists to follow in his footsteps. Much of what has come after has been of the cookie-cutter and imitation variety, but this album, to me anyway, is the foundation stone of what I like to think of as Tribal Techno.
The various samples of indigenous-speak are skillfully woven into the pleasant synthetic music, or is it the synthetic music being woven into the tribal-talk? Hard to say, as it could go both ways. I recommend this album for collectors of New Age and electronic music especially, as it really has become a classic in the years since its release.
This is also the strongest of all the Deep Forest albums, much in the same way that the original Enigma and Delerium releases continue to be the strongest among their respective sets.
Techno Bell.......2005-12-06
I first heard Deep Forest back when i was in high school, working at Taco Bell. We listened to Muzak's "Hitline" satellite program there and they used to play track #1- "Deep Forest", all the time. I was fascinated by that song....I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be techno, dance, ambient, or whatever. I wasn't even sure what language they were singing in. It took me a while to track down the artist and CD and 11 years later I am *still* listening to it. Marta's Song from Boheme also rocks....
Into Another World.......2005-10-08
This music speaks a language that is new to our ears, yet familiar in a way that can't be named. The first time I heard it was in a shop in Santa Barbara, CA over a decade ago. I immediately went up to the counter, asked what was playing, and purchase it. Years later, one of these songs would turn up as the theme to the reality TV show, Survivor.
If I go too long without listening to this CD, I am drawn back to it like a missing link.

Customer Reviews:
Boheme is an extraordinary musical masterpiece!.......2006-07-05
Boheme by Deep Forest is an original work of art which integrates so many different musical ideas it should appeal to most listeners. This is one CD where you may never get the itch to "fast forward" a particular song. It flows so well I am always surprised each time it ends. "Why do all the good ones seem so short?" I'll say to myself. I enjoy listening to other artists like Mythos, Enigma, and more recently Delirium or Magna Canta. All of these artists create wonder by blending modern day sound with traditional concepts and/or styles. However, Boheme began to have a unique and "sacred" appeal to it so I regard this CD as very special. I recommend Boheme to any who wish to be "enchanted" by the forces of ancestral yesteryear blended with the musical delights of today!! I own two copies of Deep Forest's "Boheme" to make certain I will never be without this great music.
One of the Best.......2006-06-12
Just wanted to add my quick two cents regarding this album. This is the best album from Deep Forest and is one I play regularly. The mixture of sound and music in this album is really great. I'm still waiting for Deep Forest to put out another album as good as this one. None of them have come close.
Really pretty. And...did I already say really pretty?.......2005-07-09
Boy, this is a tough one to review. For just about anyone, I mean, because this is so unusual, so far removed from anything else, even other New Age music (oh, just deal already!), there's absolutely nothing to compare it to.
Which means you have to judge it for what it is, which is...well, I don't know. It has the pygmy sounds, and I could tell they were going for the "electronica" elements (nice touch), y'know, so it doesn't get lumped with generic New Age. Other than that, this is just a very nice, offbeat, listenable album. I did say "really pretty" too, right? :-)
Earthy, lusty, magical and wonderful.......2005-03-17
Like a fine French meal laced with treats from Asia and Africa, the Middle East and place in between, this Deep Forest CD is a treat for all the senses. Sensual, earthy and magical. As the creators note 'Afin que se balade, se tisse et se bataisse la rapsodie moderne de Bhoeme, nous en avons varie les sons, les provenaces et les orchestrations'. "To allow the wandering, weaving, and building of Boheme's modern Bohemian rhapsody, we have varied sounds, origins and orchestrations'.
Anasthasia has a middle eastern feel with deep string instruments and drumming, with a magical flute that tickles the senses. The way the flute and voices quiver is spell binding.
Bohemian Ballet is a song that I and friends literally get up and dance to, whether inside or outside on the beach or near our mountain stream. It is a happy song that has sensual rhythms that are intoxicating. Raise your hands and clap along as you do your own style of belly dance.
Martas Song begins with what sounds like a rain stick and a woman's beautiful voice, and evolves into an echoing style with yodeling undertones from men in an Indian or Chinese flare.
Gathering has a mystical sound and I could easily invision swirlkling in hympnotic circles. For me there were hints of northern Africa in the sounds of the men's voices. Although I could easily invision remote Greek villages full of men dancing in traditional Greek circles.
Lament begins with a magical flute group that slowly evolves to a man singing who sounds a tad Tibetain or Eastern European, and then just as quickly it seems as if a group of children from China are accompaning him. A slow almost lullaby beat.
Bulgarian Melody begins with a beautiful piano and then there is either an Asian or Eastern European voice, dialect that reminds me of when I toss a pebble on the water and I watch it dance along making ripples. Then suddenly the piano in almost a classical manner comes back, with hints of string instruments in the background.
Deep Folk Song is so like the Russian folk dancing music that I have always loved. One can hear the feet jumping up and coming down firmly rythmetic on the wood floor. Then a raspy voiced gem of a man comes along singing what is like a converstation. One can almost invision him gazing into ones eyes as he sings his conversation.
Freedom Cry. Listening to this song I knew what the CD insert meant when it noted that the titles express something beyond folklore, but are also rallying songs of freedom and fraternity.
Twosome begins with another one of those Asian/Indian feeling songs with flute and richness that is like a Persian rug rich in colour, texture and feel. One feels like dancing and twirling to the sway and flow of the rhythm. In some ways I could almost feel the warmth of the sun on my face, and the smell of jasmine in the air.
Cafe Europa sounds a tad Spanish or Basque to me. Could easily invision flamingo dancing in some adobe structured villa surrounded by olive groves. Even though I know it is modern acoustical instruments that are used, there was almost a hint of a harpsichord of centuries past. And I love the fiddle playing and what appears to be an accordion.
Katharina There is that mystical wood instrument again, echoing and teasing the listener. And the soft modern organ. In fact the wood instrument may well me some magical organ key. All I know is I love the sound.Close your eyes as you listen to this song and picture yourself laying back in a boat rocking softly on the Mediterranean sea near Monaco, France or even near some remote Greek island.
Finally.
Boheme lives up to its name or the word Bohemian. Earthy, lusty, sensual and colourful. A real march to your own drummer song.
Haunting Ethereal Voices, Rhythms & Melodies.......2004-07-06
What a fascinating and spine-tingling interpretation and enhancement of Eastern European music, primarily Hungarian, which is my heritage. Deep Forest manages to make Marta Sebestyen sound even more evocative than she usually sounds ... her voice is soulful, poignant, piercingly tender and sincere. This CD is one nonstop experience of primarily Hungarian/Gypsy and Eastern European culture. It is made more enticing and alluring by the qualities Deep Forest brings forth with their creative imaginations -- they add unique beats and splendid vocalizations. They start with an original piece of music by the original artist, then intepret and expand the sound into haunting and ethereal dimensions. I can not say which is my favorite because the whole CD is one magnificent production of high quality and artistry. The traditional music of this region is combined with modern instruments which only makes the original sound even *more* visceral and earthy ... the root music takes hold of you!!! It does not let go. The unsuspecting listener becomes entranced by a traditionAL sound and an almost dying ancient culture ... fortunately it is being rediscovered and interpreted by musicians such as Deep Forest. I love the cover, the falling orange leaves and the "psi" symbol. The sunlight being filtered through the fog is such an appropriate and absolutely well targeted symbol of the musical contents. Deep Forest - Essence of my music collection.......2007-02-25
I bought this cd a year and a half ago not really knowing much about the group except for their song Sweet Lullaby. I was not disappointed, I love this cd!! It is now one of my most played cds I own!! It will be a cd that will always be in my music collection. Some people don't get into music they cant understand the words too, but I think that is one of the more beautiful sides to the album. I have also purchased Boheme and will purchase more of their cds the duo has recorded.
The Best of The Forest.......2007-02-08
Essence of the Forest is a masterpiece collection.
The wonderfull reproduction of eternal music of the French duo will not dussapoint anyone in this beautifull world, united so well by the Deep Forest music.
I Love the Essence of the Forest! Thank You Eric and Michel !
My first exposure to this duo and not my last...........2005-05-26
Beautiful re-arrangements of traditional African ballads with solid harmonious orchestration. This is my first exposure to Deep Forest and if what the more experienced reviewers are saying, not their best work, I can't wait to explore more. Perhaps not the best choice, but "Essence" has me wanting more of this group's work.
A mixed bag of surprises.......2004-08-14
Deep Forest's greatest hits collection finally sees a stateside release, albeit with a drastically different tracklisting to its import counterparts. While imports versions tend to be better in this case neither version is truly satisfactory. The US release offers Deep Forest's biggests hits "sweet lullaby" (in a slightly remixed form) and "marta's song" as well smart choices like "ekue ekue" and "twosome." These songs really showcase the act's ability create modern vocal pop songs from ethnic chants and old folk songs. The US collection sadly omits the duo's collaboration with Peter Gabriel on "while the earth sleeps." Neither domestic nor import release give a nod to "Pacifique" - the soundtrack they scored. The US tracklisting works well despite its noticeable omissions. It does try to make up with the inclusion of the Deep forest remix of "undecided" for artist Youssou N'dour. If you are a casual fan of deep forest or relaxing world music this is a great hits package. For fans of the group this album may be a huge disappointment and it may be worth seeking out one of the 2 import versions that exists.
Excelent new 6 tracks.......2004-08-03
I got this CD because it was playing in the CD store.
Deep Forest I reconized, even that the track Desert Walk sound diffrent, better than the released in World Mix. For me, now Desert Walk 2004 and Night Bird 2004 should be singles of this album, they are so good songs.
Sweet Lullaby 2204 is excellent. Ana Torroja sounds good in Sweet Lullaby 2003. The remixes of Yuki Song and Will You be Ready sound better than in music detected. I LOVE THIS ITEM AND I AM WAITING FOR THE DVD OF THE VIDEOS OF DEEP FOREST, THE BEST IN THE MUSIC IN THE TELEVISION

sounds of japan.......2007-01-13
being a lover of good music i was surprised to see this cd. i listened to some of the selections and decided this was an excellent piece for my parents. being of japanese descent i am always looking for music from japan to enhance my cultural appreciation. my parents truly love this cd.
Beautyful relaxing CD.......2006-03-16
I used this cd while massaging patients in a local hospital. Everyone just loved it.I bought extra for family. Just Great!
The Enchanted Forest: Melodies of Japan.......2005-10-22
I would not rate this the very best James Galway CD but it does contain the best song I have heard him play. Cut #3, Nakasendo (The Old Road) is worth the price of the CD alone. While Hietsuki Bushi (Love Song) and Song of the Deep Forest are also excellent, I never tire of listening to The Old Road. Hiro Fujikake on synthesizers combined with the flute of James Galway makes this a very pleasing collection of music.
a posie placed on a political border.......2002-05-19
I don't DISLIKE this cd, but really it is a poor interpretation of Japanese flute music. It sounds more like an uninspired Enya clone than traditional Japanese music. No matter how many times I listened to it, it never could really interest me enough to be more of my life than another cd in my scrapped CD's pile.
a touch of the irish.......2002-05-11
no need to compare rampal to galway,, two masters here, and on this cd, galway continues to demonstrate his tremendous talent and world wide appeal. without rampal , he is now the worlds greatest flautist , period

Customer Reviews:
Hallo-wha?.......2006-04-19
Let me start by saying I've never listened to Steamroller before picking this up. I am a big fan of Halloween and have quite a collection of music/sound fx so naturally, this was a must buy when I saw it.
Strictly from a Halloween fan's point of view, I can't recommend this except maybe for a kids party. The synth on the tracks really removes any spookiness from the tunes and makes them fall short of Halloween-worthiness. Tocatta and Hall of the Mountain King are some of my absolute favorite classical pieces and here they are given a royal treatment...if they were produced on a Commodore 64, or Casio keyboard for you younger folk.
The FX disc isn't horrible, but it's below the average generic sound fx you find in the bargain bin. Again, not much scary except for the fact that I spent money on this.
If possible, check it out before you buy.
An interest take on the usual.......2005-11-06
I wasn't sure what I'd think of this from reading other reviews, but I really did like it. I'm not really familiar with Mannheim's other stuff (but if the rest of the Autumn cd is anything like Harvest Dance, I'm looking forward to getting it), so I didn't have any preconceived ideas. I have a lot of the classical pieces on other cds, but I like the different twist given to them here. And I did like the sound effect cd. Nicely spooky (I have enough other sound effects cds with screaming and muching ghouls, etc).
Could have been great but . . ........2004-10-15
As a big Steamroller fan, perhaps my hopes were set a little too high. I envisioned more original music (perhaps a more scarier vibe than the silly one this CD has to it) and maybe a few covered tunes. Chips originals (from the Fresh Aire series)found on this CD outshine the weak efforts put forth on the covered and rearranged tracks. The sound effects disc sets a great(and creepy)mood, that should had been followed through with some new and equally scary compositions.
If you're a die hard Mannheim fan (as in 'I just have to own everything Chip puts out') I say go for it. But otherwise spend your Halloween money elsewhere. Overall this is a forced and lazy effort.
It's not That bad..........2004-06-14
It's not scary. There, you have it, that's what it all boils down to. With a creepy cover like that, you'd think it would be terrifying! It's not, but it's not bad, either!
A lot of the songs sound kind of like low-budget MIDI tunes that are sometimes embedded in websites.. but I think that might have been what the Steamroller was going for. Kind of like a broken Music Box? Anyway, only a few sound low budget, the rest sound good, even a few are a little "eerie" but at the same time, there's a lot that pretty much remind me of something you would hear come out of sesame street toy. The sound effects are great, though.
There's a few songs that are bad. there's a few that are "babyish" but there's also Lots that really capture the mood of halloween and some of it's eerieness. I can't really recommend it for Halloween itself (maybe if you already have every halloween cd already) but I think any Chip Davis fan should give it a listen.
Tries to please everyone.......2004-06-02
One of the neat things about the holiday of Halloween is that it is so versatile. Where Christmas has a very straightforward story (Santa or Jesus, take your pick), Halloween can be many things. Some people see it as a sort of Mardi Gras atmosphere, where any kind of costumed theme is suitable. Others see it as a dark holiday, only suited gothic castles, zombies, and monsters. Still others celebrate it in the style of gory slasher movies, complete with deranged serial killers and buckets of blood. And then there is the non-scary childrens Halloween, where the ghosts are cute and jack-o-lanterns all have goofy grins.
This CD covers all these aspects of Halloween, which virtually garantees that no one will like every song. However, I would suggest that you pick and choose the tracks you like from the CD, as part of your overall Halloween soundtrack. You will probably find at least several tracks you like. And of you like Mannheim Steamroller, you will like most of them.

Customer Reviews:
Pretty good.......2006-01-13
Another enjoyable album from Deep Forest. Makes a great gift!
International richness.......2005-03-17
French, African, Peru, Asia, it all melts together so deliciously here. One thing I loved about the CD insert was more than passing mention of the artists. Love the South African voices which remind me a lot of the Ladysmith Black Mambazo singers from Paul Simons Graceland album.
Something Deep Forest does that is so rare and magical is use the human voice and unique instruments in a wonderful, rich and bountiful way.Deep Weather is a song that as I close my eyes I am reminded of almost rhythmic conversations I have heard on the beaches of Belize, Brazil or even Hawaii. And the harmonica or accordion used in the piece make it rustic as well.
My family laughed when I said that Comparsa started out reminding me of some Swiss dancers and quickly bounced over to some Cossack dancers and then Argentina. Talk about a world tour of dance.
Tres Maria the CD cover notes is dedicated to Ochun, Pantheon's divinity Yoruba, God of sweet waters, Queen of Beauty and Love, Master of Gold. Have read that this is where the custom of tossing a coin in a fountain or water source came from. Anyway the song is as sensual as she is said to have been.
Radio Belize has some awesome Spanish guitar work, and electronic vocals that are utterly fun to listen to. This whole CD is one I put on when I want to get alot done during the day. Not only is the music happy and well tempered but one cannot help but smile when listening to the CD. Also love what appears to be either alto or bass saxophone.
La lune se bat avec les etoiles... sounds a bit like some of what Yanni has on his Tribute CD. Which like his CD's done from the Taj Mahal, Forbidden City and Greece has such international flavours.
Forest Power has the rich and varied voices and flavours of Deep Forests Boheme CD.
Media Luna has a very Peruvian sound in my opinion. Even though the CD insert says its more 'Arab and Andalusian music meet in the world mix'. But listen closely and there it is. That beautiful Arabic voice.
All I know is I love it!!!
Deep Forest Rocks !!!!!.......2004-12-31
Deep Forest is one of the rare music groups which blend world music in a harmonious and coherent style. Their tracks stretch from Macedonia to Solomon Islands and from Hungary to Mongolia. It is really a soothing experience to listen to Deep Forest.
Wonderfully light.......2003-01-29
Deep Forest's third CD called Comparsa is wonderfully light and highly spiritual. As usual in their music, there is an element of folk music from different continents - this one represents some tribal sounds again. It is happy, stunning. My four-year-old daughter adores it. Great dancing tunes on top of dramatic, meditative scores. Highly recommended!
their best, IMHO.......2002-08-31
I like the first CD, Deep Forest, and I *Really* like this one. It really does justice to the World Music idea by incorporating folk sounds into a very upbeat sound.
What helps is the influence of the folk sounds adds naturally to the dance flavor of the CD, rather than being forced.
This was one of those few CDs that I put on "Repeat All" and listened to non-stop for several days after I got it.

I'm not a music expert.......2005-08-25
I don't know too much about music. I own over 700 cds, but I don't play music and I don't have much experience with this music. My only point of reference was the ninth symphony, seeing as every other piece in this box set was new to me. It sounds fine, nothing wrong with it as far as I can see.
Now, here's what you'll get in this box set, seeing as Amazon does not give it a description. 40 cds! no joke, you get 40 cds in this box set. It features:
1. Complete symphonies
2. Complete symphonic poems
3. Cello concerto
4. Piano concerto
5. Violin concerto
6. Requiem
7. Stabat Mater
8. Slavonic Dances
9. Complete String quartets
10. Chamber music
11. Piano Works (solo and duet)
12. Rusalka
As far as I can tell, the only things missing are The Spectre's Bride and Jacobin. Seeing as it is 40 cds, i have not had an opportunity to listen to it, however what i have heard i have been quite satisfied with.
