Ambersunshower's {cq} Walter T. Smith contains only one song produced by P.M. Dawn, but the alternative-rap, trip-hop spirit of P.M. Dawn, De La Soul, Neneh Cherry and the Fugees permeates this impressive debut solo album. That song, the current single "Running Song," sets the tone for the project with its lyrics about a young woman's emerging independence, mesmerizing rhythm loop, sci-fi effects and long eerie soprano phrases. The title track, named after Ambersunshower's late grandfather, balances the sorrow of loss and the affection of memory over a processional rhythm that seems to break into skipping when she imagines meeting her grandpa in heaven. --Geoffrey Himes

2 CD for only 6$ plus shipping and handling is a good price. The quality and the choices of tunes are good and the quality of recording is good too. The orchestras, the singers and the choirs are good too. So, if the titles of tunes please you, it is a good 2-CD boxset to buy. If you are an American, I am sure that you know all these tunes. If you are not an American, you will say to yourself : "I think that I have heard this song somewhere."

That very few folks have heard, unfortunately. One reviewer stated this album was not his "cup of tea," and honestly, I can't see how that can be. I've had folks with all sorts of musical tastes and biases listen to this disc and, to a person, they've at least acknowledged the artistry behind it, and, at most started looking high and low for a copy of the disc. Ambersunshower made the disc every neo-soul, R & B, funk, alternative, etc. artists wishes they could make (including me! :-)), and then all but disappeared. Awesome.

When I first heard Running Song by Ambersunshower, I thought the group Loose Ends were doing somewhat of a remix of their hit song "Hangin On A String" and was just experimenting using an up tempo beat, with another singer on the track.

All I have to say is that, it is a crime this women is not well KNOWN!!! I like her voice, it's unique and this album is AWSOME!!!

I have been an Ambersunshower fan for a long time
so my cd came up missing after I moved. I had to
buy it again, because this cd is Great. The former
Groove Garden singer (I think)has a great sound and voice
that gives you the total package. Ambersunshower if you
read this WE WANT NEW MATERIAL. Enjoy

I was in a record store that sold "grab bags" - CD's wrapped in paper that you just took a chance on. This is how I obtained a copy of Walter T. Smith by Ambersunshower. To my delight this CD showcased an unknown artist with a brillant voice, perfect tone, and amazing vocal range. Check out the song "Chide," and see if you have ever heard anyone else use the voice echo technique Ambersunshower does on that song. Other favorites of mine, "Voices inside my head," "Look inside my window," and the title song, somehow eluded radio play, but stand up to anything put out by Eryka Badu, Jill Scott, or any other "Neo soul" artist. The album is a little uneven, but overall this is a great artist who deserves some attention.
