Fans of legendary jazz pianist Chick Corea and bebop/bluegrass banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck are well aware of the pair's previous collaborations (Corea guests on two Flecktones albums, and Fleck appears on Corea's Rendezvous in New York DVD), but their first full-length release should surprise even their most jaded followers. The two went into the project with intense seriousness of purpose, Corea writing four pieces and Fleck six. (The standard "Brazil" is their only cover.) They push each other hard in adapting their instruments to genres (bluegrass, country, Latin, ragtime, classical, blues, and world) normally outside their idioms, Corea playing 'grassy banjo patterns on the piano on Fleck's mournful "Mountain" and Fleck stretching on Corea's suite-like "Joban Dna Nopia." With few exceptions, the compositions are only frameworks for vast improvisation, which might be expected. But instead of setting each other up for extended solos, Corea and Fleck join together with breathtaking precision and verve, weaving and intertwining through remarkable contrapuntal excursions, only to break and meet up again in perfect sync. Despite the thrill of Fleck's chromatic chases and classical flirtations and Corea's mastery of difficult lines on Fleck's rippling "Spectacle," one can't help but think they would have benefited from a tad more instrumentation--especially bass and percussion. Perhaps that's the next step this wickedly inventive duo wll take in their ongoing odyssey of genius. --Alanna Nash

3 out of 5 stars Corea's piano great, banjo is outshown.......2007-07-19

The combination of guitar and and grand piano is an odd one. The compositions are good, Corea's playing is excellent as always, my criticism of the album is that the banjo is too soft an instrument to be paired with a piano. I enjoy the album but it is low key by nature: Corea seems to have to play soft not to overwhelm the banjo. This feature might appeal to acoustic music fans.

5 out of 5 stars Pushing the boundaries.......2007-06-27

I'm waiting for Bela Fleck to put out a CD with a Kazoo master. He is such a fun and inventive artist. Chick Corea, as always, rocks.

5 out of 5 stars Well Named.......2007-06-27

I love Chick Corea. I love Bela Fleck. This album breaks new ground. Highly Recommended!

5 out of 5 stars Two Giants Become One.......2007-06-22

I was fortunate to watch these 2 virtuosos perform live at the Keswick Theatre in suburban Philadelphia to a sold-out crowd. To invite the audience into their performance, they kept the house lights on, and performed in their newly established duo, sharing with the audience their immediate rapport via emailing tunes to one another.

A preeminent pianist who appeared with Miles Davis, Anthony Armando "Chick" Corea was born in Massachusetts in 1941 while Bela Fleck, named after Bartok, was born in 1958 in New York City. The haunting banjo strumming and fingerpicking enriched Chick's phenomenal acoustic keyboard virtuoso, which are revealed on the CD.

It's always good to see musicians who continue to evolve through the universal language of music.

Here are three dozen pieces of music, all played by Yo-Yo Ma, culled from his extensive discography. Aside from the technical mastery and beautiful tone that are absolutes in all of his playing, one is dazzled by his curiosity and ability to adapt to so many forms and types of music. His Bach and Vivaldi are pellucid and played with non-sentimental crispness, his tango music gritty and rhythmically pungent, his jazz seemingly spontaneous, the "Meditation" from Thais simply ravishing, "Anything Goes" a romp, and the Appalachian music performed with both respect and a great twang, while the traditional Chinese music is fascinating. It's really a matter of how much Ma loves whatever he plays here, how entirely he becomes involved in it, and what a fine partner he invariably is to other musicians. This collection is a doozy--it is truly "essential." --Robert Levine

5 out of 5 stars pure genius.......2007-05-21

No instrument asks more from the soul of an artist as the cello does.
Yo Yo Ma shows to be master of the instrument and his interpretations en technique are pure genius. Everyone should have this album in his (or hers of course) basic classical collection

4 out of 5 stars Another great Yo-Yo Disc.......2007-05-15

5 out of 5 stars The Versatile Yo-Yo Ma.......2007-03-29

I've found this collection to be extremely delightful! It gives you a sense of the versatility of Yo-Yo Ma like no other, with one disc being dedicated more to his classical side, while the other explores jazz and world music venues. Not your typical "greatest hits" collection.

It is a perilous proposition when genres clash--and no such collaboration is more potentially fraught than when improvisation-trained folk musicians sit in with Western classical instrumentalists, who are taught to interpret a printed score. The renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma has devoted much of his professional life to such intercultural experiments. But the traditions of nations situated along the ancient Silk Road, which began in the Far East, meandered through Asia and terminated in Europe, are especially dear to him. These lushly arranged pieces range from moody scenic vistas to percussive Turkish hip-shakers and they make very pleasant listening. If they owe more to the European canon than the ethnic sources that inspired them, they are also the result of respectful give-and-take between a team of acknowledged masters. And nobody is more of a team player than Maestro Ma, an impassioned, fearless musical seeker and a gracious, deferential colleague. --Christina Roden

this collection of music is quite a cultural experience. I've been hooked since I opened the cover!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Compilation with Marvelous Tracks.......2007-01-20

I enjoyed this compilation of Silk Road music very much. It delivers a nice, diverse sample of music from the region. My favorite track of the CD is Shikasta, but I like the others as well.

5 out of 5 stars Beyond the first Silk Road CD.......2006-11-23

Yo-Yo Ma went beyond indeed. The first CD with Silk Road ensemble (When Strangers Meet) was inconsistent and somewhat experimental. This one however, is superb. As if in the 5 years the musicians got to know each other (but in truth, only a few musicians are the same). 23 traditional Eastern instruments are listed plus a number of western strings and other percussion was used. So the music on this CD gets my full attention, and as the title of first track suggests, you (can) get enchanted.
The tracks are ordered into three parts: Enchantments (1-5), Origins (6-9) and New Beginnings. First track is strangely familiar (like it was used in some film, but there is no mention of this). In third track this theme gets Chinese interpretation. The style from one track to the other changes, so you can't get bored or overexcited. Second is simply very nice, the fourth great intro of Armenian wind instrument duduk (played by famous Gevorg Dabaghyan), accompanied by percussion mostly, albeit the piece is short. 5 is gentle with cello and xun (Chinese ocarina), 6 orchestral from slow to cool, 7 again gentle with cello and vocal, 8 starts with yearning duduk and turns into orchestral battle, 9 cello and percussion. Track 10 is the only one with prominent vocal (love song) and introduces us to the last part of CD, which are more like jam sessions of all instruments. 11 and 13 are very lively. The last one, track 15, brings us a new interpretation of very ancient Chinese melody played on pipa.

Some would probably say this CD is commercialized. Personally I don't see any wrongdoings in this as long the music stays a high quality one. For the more authentic Silk Road one can always buy The Silk Road: A Musical Caravan.

5 out of 5 stars Excelent!!!.......2006-01-15

5 out of 5 stars One of the Best !.......2005-12-06

This album has captured the soul of the Silkroad. There is not a single track in this album I don't like. I've been listening to it over and over and over again since I first got it. I think it's much better than the first one.

English composer Robert Prizeman has taken a conventional English boy's choir--usually a haven for sweet songs and ecclesiastical renderings--and made them contemporary without selling out any of their intrinsic charm. Their stacked choral voices and lead sopranos, dressed up with electronica rhythms, synthesizers, and strings still sound like they could be coming from the church balcony, even while they exude an Enya-like appeal. While there are adaptations of Gregorian chants and Sibelius hymns, most of the songs are Prizeman originals based on those styles, with texts often drawn from Latin Liturgy. Except for the chilled romanticism of "Stay With Me," and the rhythm driven "Adoramus," whose chorus sounds like a Harry Potter incantation, few of the songs on Free have the anthemic pop appeal of "Salva Me" or "Vespera" from previous albums. Instead, Prizeman has opted for a more serene sound on Free, even with their first video from the disc, the yearning "I Am the Day." Some of it, like Prizeman's setting of a Walter de la Mare poem on "A Song of Enchantment," gets lugubrious. But most of Free floats on gentle soprano breezes, intrinsically innocent, even if the boys might be smoking cigarettes behind the altar. --John Diliberto

This cd is like listening to a heavenly choir. "Free" is an awesome audio experience. It can turn a stressful day into a calm evening.

5 out of 5 stars Sweetest voices ever!.......2007-06-16

I happened across this CD at Borders and was able to listen to it! One of the sweetest and heavenly CDs ever! I bought two: one for myself and one as a gift.

4 out of 5 stars Awesome.......2007-01-04

I never knew that young boys could have such wonderful voices, almost angelic. The music is very relaxing and haunting at times, but that's what makes it a good album to hear to. The harmonies were so beautiful. To all choir fans, this is a must-have album.

5 out of 5 stars Soothing and thought provoking.......2006-02-23

Libera is an amazing group of boys and Robert Prizeman really knows how to put everything together. My favorite songs on "Free" are Voca Me, Stay With Me, Adoramus, I Am the Day and Twilight. Each time I listen to this disc, another song seems to start growing on me. This was my first Libera CD (I have since bought Luminosa, Libera and Visions) and at first I liked the faster more upbeat songs but as time went on I started to really love the softer ones like Do Not Stand at my Grave and Weep (beautifully done by Ben Crawley and Joseph Platt). The soloists are lovely with clear and pure voices, and the chorus just swells with harmonies. This is choir music for people who hate choir music.

5 out of 5 stars Pure Crystal.......2006-02-20

Like Luminosa, this is incredible. I can only compare it to the beautiful, pristine, classical pieces of antiquity, such as Vivaldi's Spring and Bach's many ethereal melodies. It's beautiful.

Of course, we couldn't expect time to freeze its relentless path and forever preserve the Welsh sensation Charlotte Church in a chrysalis of precocious youth. And yet, at 15 and now taking bolder steps into expanding her repertory on Enchantment, the soprano remains a marvel of a prodigy. Here, she scours a wider range of sources than on her previous albums. Church moves with breathtaking ease from classic Broadway (West Side Story, Show Boat, South Pacific) to traditional Celtic, film ballads, and even a couple of high-operatic numbers. Church's straightforward approach to the melody of "La Habanera" may not exactly be what Bizet had in mind for his Carmen, but fans will get double pleasure out of the singer's exquisite duet with herself on the haunting "Flower Duet" from Delibes's Lakmé. What's more, there's a greater freedom of expression and sense of how to shape a phrase in many of these tracks--notice how much there is to savor, for instance, in "The Water Is Wide" and "Carrickfergus." It all adds up to a widely varied course, demonstrating the continued growth of a singularly gifted young artist. --Sarah Chin

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Bleck!.......2007-05-30

Charlotte has a producing voice, not quite mature, but it's bearable. I don't really appreciate opera unless your name is Sarah Brightman, Hayley Westenra or Holly Stell. Carrickfergus and Somewhere are decent for her voice, but "The Prayer" and "The Water is Wide" is very damaging to my ears due to the fact, her Italian sucks, her range is not wide enough in "Water".

4 out of 5 stars Voice of an Angel!!.......2007-02-05

I enjoy listening to this cd by Charlotte Church! She has such a lovely voice. I especially love listening to Habañera and The Flower Duet as both are sung beautifully by Ms. Church!!

5 out of 5 stars fun cd.......2006-12-29

I love this cd and have had it quite a while. I was just enjoying it again today and thought I'd write a review because I do enjoy it so much. It's just a fun, enjoyable album. Pretty orchestration, a lovely voice, nice to sing along with. Especially at the top of my lungs in the car (alone when no one can hear me!)
I really don't know why one would NOT enjoy this cd.

3 out of 5 stars Good? Yes. Great? No. Over-rated? HECK YES!.......2006-12-15

I bought this CD when I was still in high school, singing soprano I & II in choir. It's not bad but she does much better than even some older kids attempting soprano. I think due to the popularity she gained this poor girl has endured much harsh criticism. True, we can't cut her slack JUST because she is a little girl but on the other hand for someone to sing opera at that age her work IS superb. Whether she's a prodigy or victim of over-ambitious parents & media, she deserves credit where it's due. At least she DID break out as some-what of a mainstream artist & exposed this type of music to those who stereotyped it as fat ladies w/powder-white make-up belting out notes that would shatter glass. Some say the same for Josh Groban who broke into the scene as a mainstream tenor/baritone vocalist. As far as skills & talent, he not the greatest either but many people adore his music. The same credit should go to Charlotte Church.

As far as feedback on the quality...
It's VERY hard to believe the deliverance of her performance. A 15-year-old (even younger on her debut cd) singing songs about love & being able to see the world seems silly. Cracking voice? Yeah, you can really tell she had a difficult time hitting the high note in The Laughing Song because it got all air-y. Honestly, some trained sopranos over-shoot their high notes too & get extremely SHARP so I didn't mind her air-i-ness. I think she did a great job on The Flower Duet though. It still has the same relaxing quality as some other versions I've heard from various movie soundtracks. But compare this to the likes of professionals - real professionals - she's merely tolerable. Try Sarah Brightman if you want to listen to some nice musical sopranos. She even has some pretty remakes of modern songs.

4 out of 5 stars Enchantment Indeed!.......2006-08-20

This CD is simply amazing! However, I am sick and tired of people pressuring her to be someone that she's not! Trying to fit into today's popular music scene, Charlotte has turned to pop, and her career isn't flying well because of it! Her voice is simply amazing for opera, and I will not hear another insulting word about her!

Anyways, the CD is genius! Tonight from "West Side Story" is beautifully sung. Carrickfergus, Habanera, and Bali Ha'i are sung with a hypnotizing beauty. Papa, Can you Hear Me and The Flower Duet are amazing as well!

However, on The Flower Duet, Church's vocals seem strained a bit. The Little Horses is a decent piece, a remake of the standard English folk song. I prefer it straight instead of a varied beat, so that Church's voice could soar on and on.

From my First Moment is a fairly nice song, but The Water is Wide is simply amazing! Her vocals are soaring and mezmerizing!

Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man is NOT the song for her, because she puts a weird accent on the song, like she's trying to sound like a hoodlum! The Laughing Song is something that SHOULD NOT be tried by children, because the vocals are so strained! If I Loved You is a simple yet wonderful piece!

A Bit of Earth and Somewhere are both beautiful pieces, with excellent work from the orchestra.

Overall, this CD is very beautiful! BUY IT!

Following hot on the heels of their enormously successful collaboration for The Lion King, Elton John and Tim Rice have once again culled their talents to create another Disney contemporary musical, based this time on Verdi's opera Aida. The album, recorded by some of the biggest talents of pop, country, and R&B, features songs from the stage show, which recounts the well-known tale of a love triangle further complicated by slavery, royalty, and the armed forces. John duets to great effect with country crooner LeAnn Rimes, the enchanting Janet Jackson, and the lovely Lulu of To Sir with Love fame. Lush and lively, the soundtrack hits a hoot of a (decidedly not highbrow) high point with the infectious pop of the Spice Girls warbling the merits of undergarments on "My Strongest Suit" ("Always wear underwear/Anytime, anywhere"). Lenny Kravitz funks things up with "Like Father Like Son." Shania Twain's husky emoting makes a fine pop ballad of the brief "Amneris' Letter." "Not Me" chronicles the goodness of love as Boyz II Men coo dreamily, their harmonies nestling into John's sumptuous score. --Paige La Grone

Product arrived in a timely manner in new condition, still wrapped in plastic. Thank you.

5 out of 5 stars Loved it!!!.......2006-09-07

I'm so impressed with this album for several different reasons.
3) It's Elton John
2) I loved all but two of the songs!
1) I usually hate the original broadway cast albums and movie soundtracks. They don't do the songs justice. They usually have chopped up versions of the songs and include unnecessary dialouge.

I'd love to see every musical (broadway or movie) done this way!
I appreciate the b'way versions, but I don't want to listen to them in my car...

4 out of 5 stars good variety and feeling.......2004-06-24

This is a very good CD. "Written in the Stars" is an extremely emotional song, and it is my favorite on the album. I would like to see the show on Broadway, but I have to say I don't think it can be too much better than this CD

2 out of 5 stars Sour Concepts.......2003-06-29

It takes so much to try to get a musical to make its way upon Broadway. Sometimes you really need to understand how to make it really happen within the passion of the storytelling music. In that case with Elton John, he nearly seemed to make it with Aida. While the music for Broadway always seems to have at least something completely mgaical and a dash of power in it. Sometimes, you really need to understand it, to make it happen, and others don't see it from the start. Although Elton John has had great music for years, at least once in a era, something goes a little flat.

The 1999 Aida, was not a studio album from Elton, but a preview from what was happen on Broadway. The various artists record contains so many different artists in the record including Tina Turner, Boyz II Men, Dru Hill, and the upcoming Heather Headley. Before Heather made it as a singer, she made it right here in Aida, on this record. The only decent song that was a hit was Written In The Stars, which Elton performed with Leann Rimes. The song was also the last song Elton cracked Billboard's Top 40. Still, there really wasn't a lot of enjoyment within most of the record, and it fell into a sleeper. Considering that Elton is already planning on making another smash musical on Broadway, hopefully he'll do better with the concept record.

When it does come to making it on Broadway, it isn't really anything exciting, unless it truly is a smash, and Aida is a smash on Broadway, just not the record. Still, if you're a die hard fan of Aida, buy this record. Otherwise, it could be a hitless miss.

5 out of 5 stars Living Elaborate Lives..........2002-11-02

Aida was Elton John and Tim Rice's baby, providing a concept soundtrack album before even setting the stage on fire, the tracks are generally sweeping show ballads.
Elton teams up with several lovely and talented ladies, in LeAnn Rimes, Janet Jackson, and Lulu. "Written In The Stars" could be a vocal gladiator battle, the way LeAnn and Elton sing it. Janet and Lulu prove themselves as more mellow duet partners.
Kelly Price makes "The Gods Love Nubia" her own, the song is tied up in soul with her voice being smooth as silk. The far too short "Amneris' Letter" shows off Shania Twain's voice to perfection also. Pop culture phenomenon the Spice Girls turn "My Strongest Suit" into the most obvious pop stomper of this set. Another strong point is Heather Headley's solo "Elaborate Lives". A rich ballad, Headley recently embarked on an R&B singing career with the track "He Is". The legendary Tina Turner provides a fiery perfomance, her track being the powerful "Easy As Life" with Angelique Kidjo.
Duds are also present, Sting and Dru Hill's tracks are admitted stinkers. James Taylor, Boyz II Men, Sherie Scott, and Lenny Kravitz also deliver perfomances on the album. This album is well put together, with strong tunes and a short-list of superstars presenting them. A fun buy.

5 out of 5 stars You all are SO lucky!!! Im jealous!!!.......2007-05-01

Seems like everyone who's replied was blessed enough to live the era when all of this beautiful music was created. Unfortunately for me, being that I'm only 28, I only got to listen to it from my mother and uncle playing their records in the 80's. I never understood why they were holding on to this "old" music. Back then, I was too focused on Run DMC and the newly accepted form of music called hip hop. But in my teen years, our local radio stations would play the older music at night and I'd listen to and became mesmerized by the vocal talents, the emotion, the writing, the music production, and the sheer magic of these talented groups. I saw that a good majority of the rap songs that I loved had sampled from these classics. I lost countless hours of sleep getting up to write down what few lyrics I could remember so I could ask my mother who the artist was. This went on for years. Been hooked ever since and it's so far to the point that I really have a bias towards the modern stuff. You don't hear talent like this anymore. The Dells, Delfonics, Dramatics, the Emotions, Heatwave, Stylistics, Blue Magic, L.T.D., etc (I could go on forever) left the world with countless classics. Noone will be listening to Usher's Burn 20 years from now. That's how you know you've created a masterpiece. Some of these songs are over 30 years old and still remains appreciated and cherished the way I'm sure it was back then. I remember when Jesse Powell did "Gloria" and I was amazed at his abilities. My mother decided to play the original for me...so lucky I was for her to share her era with me. I was blown away. Jesse did well, but hearing the original left me mesmerized. And I'm far from homosexual, so getting worked up over another man's voice was quite awkward for me, lol!

I've been trying to find as much old music as I can because I'm addicted to it. So upon purchasing this album, nothing else saw the CD player for weeks. I love it. Every song is beautiful to me. I just like hearing the emotion the artists had back then. And the Enchantments raised the bar with several of these "cuts" (see, I even talk like I'm from that era! Lol!) This is art in it's purest form. The true definition of what "real" music is about. Unfortunately, I live in a generation where groups like this will never see the light of day due to groups like Pretty Ricky :(

Definitely a beautiful album and if anyone here has suggestions for a group they feel that I'd enjoy, please feel free to email me. Like I said, I wasnt around to experience it firsthand, so I'm sure there's some groups out there that I've never even heard of but would love to enjoy as you did.

5 out of 5 stars Talented Singers.......2007-04-15

I grew up listening to this group of talented men and their voices are wonderful. My mother owns either 3 or 4 of their LPs and they sound good to this day. Enchantment has been underrated for years and I do not know why. They need more classy men and love songs like that today.

5 out of 5 stars If You're Ready..........2006-12-21

Another Great Compilation by Enchantment - Worth the price - get your copy and enjoy it!!

5 out of 5 stars Who are the Enchantment?.......2006-06-17

Sadly. If it had not been for the hit song 'Gloria' most would ask that question. This is one of the most underrated groups that would be mildly considered as the underground of R&B music of the 70's. Their style was the kind that made 'music to make love to' so popular. The dynamic lead singer E.J. Johnson is what made this group what it is. His unbelievable falsetto range is the hallmark for R&B lead singing to this date as you can hear at the end of the hit song, GLORIA.
Truely outstanding!
"Gloria" became a smash hit, and was one of the most popular songs of 1976-1977. They followed it up with another smash hit, "Sunshine," from the same album. Jesse Powell, a younger artist in the late 90's re-made Gloria, which to date is the closest I've ever heard to E.J. Johnson 'sound-a-likes'.
Here is a perfect opportunity to share with the young heads what real love songs are about...it is a responsibility to pass this on to our younger generation as footprints to muse their new talents.
So when you hear someone ask...Who is the Enchantment? Tell them and let them hear for themselves the greatness that they were!

5 out of 5 stars If You're Ready: Best of Enchantment.......2006-01-02

WOW - classic, soulful, beautiful!! This group had all the vocals of the other male groups that got all the shine although much less mainstream recognition. This is another group that male r&b groups should listen to & try to get a feel for how a REAL group should sound. It's a shame that in our generation, the only group that came close to vocally matching groups in this era & genre was Boyz II Men.

My favorite tracks: WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE, SUNSHINE, IT'S YOU THAT I NEED, IF YOUR'RE READY, GLORIA, SILLY LOVE SONG, SUNNY SHINE FEELING & YOU MUST BE AN ANGEL/UP HIGHER.

This is a delightful album. Very light, uplifting and melodious. Really does put me in mind of fairies at play. Nicely done.

5 out of 5 stars uplifting, calming and beautiful.......2006-07-27

I was given this CD as a discarded sample about a year and a half ago by a friend who's a music buyer for a small store. Since it was a freebie, I wasn't expecting much. This is just about the most perfect New Age CD I've ever heard, and I still listen to it regularly. It was key to my keeping sane and (relatively) calm during a very stressful time in which I helped my aging mother move out of her house of 49 years and into a retirement community. I put it on at work when the stress is really getting to me. By all means, buy it if you're interested in New Age music at all.

4 out of 5 stars Enchanting!.......2006-06-30

"Faeries," by Troika/David Arkenstone is quite a lovely album. Each song is a musical interpertation of various fairy stories from around the world. (a synopsis of each story is included in the liner notes) Countries include China, England, France and Ireland. Most of the album has a definite Celtic flavor to it, featuring the pennywhistle, harp, hammered dulcimer and violin. Other instruments include the Native American flute, Oriental cymbals, tablas, and the oboe.

I love the front cover art of this album. That's what made me want to buy it in the first place. That and also the title of it intriqued me. It was another impulse buy. I bought it at a store in Islands of Adventure (Universal Studios) back in 1999, but I can't remember what store. The artwork on the liner notes is just as entralling. One more piece of info: both the artwork and text for the stories are taken from The Book of Fairies-Nature Spirts from Around the World retold by Rose Williams.

Album Description

Land of Enchantment, Deuter's tenth album, is a glimpse of the magic found in life. Deuter combines acoustic instruments and synthesizers in his customarily skillful fashion. The tracks on this album were recorded in various geographical areas, from France and Hawaii to Santa Fe, and they represent different scenes and experiences. Characteristics from Eastern and Western musical cultures are blended to portray the light-hearted and mystical qualities of each location.

"The message in the music is Light," says Deuter. "Light as opposed to heavy, and light as opposed to darkness. The music is derived from an understanding that life is a gift and from an acceptance of the miracle that it is, that all things exist."

I've had the cassette for years now - but can't locate it at the moment. Time to replace it with a CD. This is one of my all time favorite pieces of music. One has to hear it to appreciate it.

5 out of 5 stars My most favorite CD over time.......1998-11-24

We were introduced to Land of Enchantment over 5 years ago and never tire of it. This guy can access our ability to soar. Other favorites come and go and Land of Enchantment just continues to come back. This CD is one of our top gifts for people we really like.

5 out of 5 stars The MOST relaxing music I own!.......1998-09-07

Whenever stress builds up, I put this CD on and go to track 8 (Petite Fleur). The entire collection is soothing, but this particular one is extra-special; it just has a very calming effect.

5 out of 5 stars Top Notch.......1998-08-03

Deuter's music is at once both typical and defining for the New Age category. It would be possible to use this music to meditate (this is not necessarily a positive statement, as the same could be said for Halpran's music, which I don't like). But it is also very melodic, and active enough to hold my attention. Although gentle, it is not elevator music. This is my wife's favorite recording in this genera.

4 out of 5 stars Wonderful, Muzak could learn from this........1998-07-17

5 out of 5 stars Enchantment by Chris Spheeris - meditation with a beat.......2006-06-30

I owned this as a tape and everytime I wanted to relax while driving, I put Enchantment on. It won't put you to sleep but it relaxes your soul...with some songs having a more uptempo beat, and others, just beautiful music. When I bought my new car, without a tape player, I immediately ordered the Enchantment CD. I could not imagine driving distances without the option of hearing this exquisite and melodic music.

5 out of 5 stars Very Pleasant !.......2003-08-14

I heard this CD playing in a metaphysical store & along with the smell of the incense in the shop I felt this huge wave of relaxation go over me. I asked the store owner what the music was & ordered my copy right away. This is a DELIGHTFUL CD and I play it over & over. You would never get tired of hearing this. I play it a lot in the car when I am driving and it just melts away the traffic frustrations. If you want something that will really make you "unwind" this will do it. I'm going to get more of this music.

My wife and I found this CD in Baltimore while dating. We fell in love with it in the store and have played it many, many times. It became such a part of lives that we used several tracks for our wedding. First Kiss really does take you back to that first kiss and takes you through all of the emotions.

One of the best CD's that we own. Nine years and we still listen to it regularly. It brings out the romantic in all of us. Give it a hundred stars.

5 out of 5 stars Great.......2002-05-01

This CD is one of Chris Spheeris' best. The music is soothing and the quality is the best. I can listen to this CD over and over and never tire of it. Other people who hear it also say the same thing. Greta music when relaxing in the hot tub!
