Good companion for Battlestar Fans.......2007-05-07
If you're a Battlestar Galatica Fan, this audio is an excellent companion to your collection. Passacaglia, Forgiven, and The Shape of Things to Come are emotional and addictive orchestral soundtracks. Not every song from the first season is included in this CD. The opening credit songs for the UK and the US versions and the battle songs (The Thousandth Landing, Battle on the Asteroid) are included. Battlestar Muzaktica is quite odd and doesn't fit with the collection of songs.
Captures the feel of the show.......2007-04-11
Has a great selection of songs from the 1st season. I like show/movie CDs that you can picture the scenes and emotion of the actors when you hear the song. The Celtic underlays are great, and the Taiko drumming style is very well used for building intensity in the music. If you really like the series, you should probably really enjoy the music as well!
Awesome Soundtrack.......2007-04-11
If you like the music in a scene that just blends in and makes the scene even more emotional or suspenseful, that is what the scores from season one do on this cd. I initially bought it to for the prologue (cylon music) and the two main titles (U.S. and U.K.) but after listening to the entire cd, I have become completely addicted to it. The titles of the scores usually give you a hint of the scene and the liner notes also tell you the episode that they are from but the soundtrack has definitely made rewatching season one an even more intriguing experience. The scores with words, are written by Bear and are in various languages, but the words, especially the opera piece, are actually so dead one with the scene and in this specific scene hilarious. I love this soundtrack. If you are someone who is addicted to really grasping everything that happens in this show and watch and analyze it beyond face value, this is an added bonus to have in your collection. I highly recommend it!!!
BSG.......2007-04-10
Man I love the Classic and the Present BSG's So Inaturally find the SoundTrack/Score A joy and very relaxing. They tend to sound very similar but they are very diffrent.
Agree with everyone else.......2007-03-28
There have been lots of raving reviews of this album, as well as the equally sensational season 2 soundtrack. I just wanted to add my opinion on one track, "Destiny". An earlier review describes an Arabic string instrument being used, but it is actually a biwa, a traditional Japanese instrument that has such a distinct sound that it's hard to imagine it being used for anything other than traditional gagaku music. I don't know if anyone but McCreary has ever tried to use this instrument for something else, but it hardly matters. The fact that McCreary managed to use it so effectively in a piece that is so different from gagaku music is a perfect testament to his unique genius. I'm really looking forward to following McCreary's career.

Like Spinal Tap, the Rutles, and even the Bonzo Dog Band, Tenacious D manage to send up rock conventions while employing them expertly. The soundtrack to their first full-length motion picture mixes songs and bits from the movie, but it plays like a hilarious concept album more than anything. Dave Grohl and (one half of the) Dust Brothers--who played on the D's delicious 2001 debut--are here joined by Meat Loaf and Ronnie James Dio. The title song navigates power balladry from the late '80s and early '90s in ways most awesome, while also throwing in a bridge that rips on faux-mystical elf-progisms of '70s stadium rock. At times the songs get a bit too meta (e.g. "He who is groovy must be in my movie"), but quibbling about self-referentiality when it comes to a fake band that calls itself "The Greatest Band on Earth" and who sings that their movie is "better than-uh Citizen Kane-uh" is perhaps to not have much of a sense of humor. --Mike McGonigal

The Pick of Destiny is the highly anticipated soundtrack to the upcoming New Line Cinema comedy, Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny. An epic musical adventure, the film follows Tenacious D (Jack Black and Kyle Gass) on their quest to obtain the Pick and become The Greatest Band on Earth.

Not their greatest work.......2007-08-01
I know it's out of the movie, but it's targeted AT the movie and not just a general mush of music.
Their regular music is much more hardcore than what's on this album.
Though I gotta give Kickapoo and The Final Showdown the honors for the greatest songs on the album. They almost compete with Tribute and Wonderboy
Better than the movie - give it a chance and you'll love it!.......2007-07-23
It has been several years that Tenacious D fans have been waiting for a new album from The D, and as a fan, this album satisfied my hunger for new content but failed to deliver as a worthy successor to their self-titled debut CD. The main reason for this is that the album plays much more like a soundtrack (which it is advertised as) rather than a full-blown album. That being said, this has to be one of my favorite movie soundtracks of all time and still captures the unique sound (and humor) that I love about Jack and Kyle.
From the moment the first track "Kickapoo" begins and you hear the signature D-like acoustic riff, you know your in for a treat as Jack playfully weaves a story about a young JB, rebelling against his father by embracing Rock in a way that only he can ("Twas I who f---ed the dragon!"). Keep in mind that I first heard this CD before even watching the movie, and the first minute of acoustic guitar combined with Jack Black's aggressive, completely ridiculous lyrics brought such a huge smile to my face that instantly felt the wait for this song alone was worth it. Vintage Tenacious D. Meatloaf and Dio also contribute to make the opening so strong that it really is difficult for the rest of the album to maintain the momentum this track brings from beginning to end.
"Classico" is the first of several tracks on the album that pays homage to tunes from the band's past work (same Bach piece Kyle played in "Rock Your Socks Off" from the first album) while adding a new spin to it. Many reviewers have complained that some of the songs on this CD are too short to enjoy but this is a great example of one that is just long enough to appreciate - once again, brilliant combination of KG's masterful guitar-playing and JB's over-the-top lyrics ("When you rule, you f---in school, all of the fools, out of their jewels).
Unlike, "Classico", "Baby" is one song I really wish was longer than it turns out to be on the album. It's a soulful tune that provides just enough harmony and guitar that it might have earned some playtime on the radio if it were fleshed out into a full song, especially when you consider there are no swear words involved. It's of my favorite songs to sing along to, even if it only lasts barely over a minute.
Although "Destiny" only serves as a transition track with a couple lines from the movie, what's nice about the small snippet is that Jack sings the same short vocal riff that preceded each of the HBO specials, the same one that would play as they entered the open-mike night bar - another treat for hardcore D fans. This is nicely followed by "History", another song that longtime D fans would undoubtedly recognize from the HBO specials and other appearances. This version is slightly extended, with added lines like, "We've run with wolves, we've climbed K2, even stopped a moving train", and it's nice to finally have a real version to play.
"The Government Totally Sucks" has drawn some comparisons to "City Hall" from the first album, but I find it to be lacking in their trademark tongue-in-cheek humor, as the music seems a little lazy and repetitive and the lyrics are definitely short on inspiration. It's no wonder this track was cut from the movie.
"Master Exploder" is, just like "Classico", just enough Tenacious D brilliance and ridiculousness to warrant repeated playbacks even though it is a short piece. With lines like "I did not mean to blow your mind, but that sh--happens to me all the time!", this track is a perfect example of why Tenacious D fans can't get enough of them - if you understand the sarcasm behind their seemingly over-the-top arrogance, you can't help but enjoy them for what they pretend (believe?) to be: the greatest band on earth.
"Papegenu" may seem a little strange if you haven't seen the movie, but once you see the scene you'll understand the meaning behind the weird use of a recorder and lots of dialogue between JB and Sasquatch (hint: mushrooms are involved). Again, longtime D fans should notice the second half of the song is similar to the one played with Sasquatch in another of the HBO specials.
More songs follow along with the movie, with "Dude I Totally Miss You" describing the duos time apart. Like "Baby", it's another soulful song but adds a bit of man-crush humor that is a traditional theme in D songs. "Break-In City" and "Car Chase City" are less Tenacious D, more generic rock and roll. Although Jack still works his unique styling into the songs, the music doesn't seem typical of something him and KG would perform in a club.
This all leads into a climactic battle with the Devil in "Beelzeboss", and MAN what a climax it is! JB and Kyle challenge the Devil to a rock-off, and the back-and-forth music and lyrics between the foes turns out to be an awesome rock opera that takes laugh-out-loud humor, hard metal, slow acoustic, and head-banging solos to create by far the best track on the album. Played with a passionate snarl by Dave Grohl (always a contributor to D songs but never quite like this!), the Devil proves to be a worthy adversary to Jack and Kyle, vocally and stylistically. This song provides an idea of what really happened in "Tribute" from their first album. I cannot get enough of this song and would recommend the album for this track alone.
The album finishes off with "POD", which is a fun recap of the movie that doesn't sound very Tenacious D-like but is still enjoyable, and "The Metal", which is a bit harder than the Bluesy sound we're used to hearing but, again, is very enjoyable.
I pre-ordered this album and it came out before the film actually was released, and the best compliment I can give the CD is that the movie did not live up to the soundtrack. I fell in love with a lot of the songs on the album, but I was disappointed that the scenes in the movie that were accompanied by some of the tracks in this album (mainly "Kickapoo" and Beelzeboss") did not live up to the excitement I felt just listening without a visual to go with the lyrics. Don't let the below average movie keep you from purchasing this CD, as I promise you that if you give it a chance, Tenacious D's music will invade your mind just like it did mine so many years ago.
Only good if you have seen the movie.......2007-06-30
I am a big fan of Tenacious D's music, and I didn't like this album upon first listen. I was skeptical about the massive amount of profanity throughout the album, and overall did not think it was that funny. After watching the film, however, I think that this album is hilarious. Tenacious D is comical in all aspects of their art, and this soundtrack only further proves this. Great album.
The Warp & Woof of Heavy Metal! .......2007-04-11
I'm an unapologetic Metal Head (Have nearly every Iron Maiden CD! Love Dio, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Malmsteen, Helloween, etc.), and have to say that Tenacious D captures the heart of Heavy Metal in short, succinct masterpieces. I know the CD is a "soundtrack" but the music could definitely be incorporated into a Rock Opera on the order of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The movie wasn't great, but the music more than makes up for it, no matter how short some of the songs are.
Especially cool:
Kickapoo -- Killer song. The riffs are driving, even the acoustical ones!
Classico -- Sweet little 1 minute song comprised of Bach and Mozart tunes. It's good to see honors paid to the only form of music that's better and rocks the hardest: Baroque/Classical.
Beelzeboss -- Worth the price of the album, IMHO. It has all the components for a mini-opera.
I grant that there's a LOT of edgy and offensive language, but if you can handle the F bombs then the experience will pay off in spades.
Musically satisfying. Get it!
Pretty funny.......2007-04-04
It's much better than their crappy debut cd and I liked 9 of the 15 tracks, 2 or 3 are less than 30 seconds so that's kind of pointless but still mostly good funny songs especially Kickapoo, Classico and Beelzeboss. Of course the movie is even better, one of the best comedies ever made.

John Williams' lovely and moving score for the sixth Star Wars film brings thirty years of collaborating on George Lucas' beyond-popular intergalactic franchise to a close. (Is this really the end of Star Wars? Can't Lucas and Williams work together on a prequel to these prequels? Let us hope so, and that Jar Jar Binks is nowhere near it.) As this music accompanies the most exciting Star Wars film in many a moon, the soundtrack itself is more fun, more evil, more nasty and bumpy. Many of the heroic, anthemic themes woven throughout Episode Three: Revenge of the Sith will necessarily be familiar to any fan of the series, from the "Imperial March" to the main theme. It's remarkable how stirring the latter can be, no matter how many times you've heard it, and even for those who do not have all their money invested in S.W. memorabilia. There is a lot of new music here, and the lush, extensive range of both Williams and the London Symphony Orchestra is on display, most notably in the menacing, percolating "General Grievous" and the rousing "New Hope" end theme. --Mike McGonigal

Star Wars: A Musical Journey (2005) (V).......2007-06-21
product: Star Wars: A Musical Journey (2005) (V), included as bonus disc in Episode III soundtrack.
The bonus dvd with this soundtrack was the reason I purchased. I enjoy film soundtracks, and science fiction, but this dvd was a real highlight for me. I got the soundtrack cd out of the local library. The cd was missing from the case, but I found this wonderful dvd instead that I went out to purchase later.
With optional segments of dialog from Ian McDiarmid, this film is a stunning visual and musical overview of the full epic story of episodes I-VI of Star Wars. For those of us who felt that eps. IV-VI fell short of our expectations, this film presents them well as parts of the whole story. The Musical Journey also stands as a summary of the entire SW opus for someone who is not familiar with the Star Wars characters and plot. Highly recommended.

Not one of his bests, but very close.......2007-05-21
The Episode III soundtrack is very good. Not great, but very, very good. You can tell that Williams is getting old, but he still manages to weave together a very memorable score.
My favorite tracks are "Battle of the Heroes," "Anakin's Betrayal," Palpatine's teachings, "Anakin vs. Obi-Wan," and the "Immolation Scene."
The others are very good as well, but these are especially nice. "Battle of the Heroes" is Dual of the Fates for Revenge of the Sith. "Anakin's Betrayal" is a very sad track that is, in my opinion, one of William's most powerful pieces. "Palpatine's Teachings" is really, really neat. It's very dark and moody, a perfect piece for the evil emperor. The only weird thing is the end. "Anakin vs. Obi-Wan" is the action piece that plays during the battles of Anakin and Obi-Wan, and Yoda and the Emperor. Finally, "The Immolation Scene" is another sad piece, even more so than "Anakin's Betrayal."
Although I really like this CD, there are some things that are missing (as usual). First, the whole sequence where the droids are looking for Obi-Wan after he was shot. You see Obi-Wan in his ship with Senator Organa on the Hologram (or whatever it is), and Obi-Wan says that his clones turned on him. That was some pretty awesome music that OF COURSE was left out of the CD. Then there was Dual of the Fates in the movie, but completely absent from the CD. And probably the most annoying was that whole piece of music before Obi-Wan and Anakin fight. It was so touching and sad and I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY LEFT IT OUT! Absolutely amazing. Also, did anyone notice that some little bits were cut out? For example, in Anakin vs. Obi Wan, they cut out about a second or two of choir. What?! What the heck is with that? It's when Anakin is running on the long thing and jumps on the droid on the lava. Also, there was some pretty cool drumming when you see Yoda and the Emperor fighting, and you can see the whole stadium (the big room). There's also drumming in "Enter Lord Vader" that is muted in the soundtrack.
Oh well...if I'm going to collect movie scores, I'm going to have to get used to the fact that in almost all cases there's not going to be every bit of music. I've experienced this in both Pirates of the Caribbean, Jurassic Park I (there was very little left out on this score), and almost everything else. At the moment, I'm just waiting for the 22nd, for the Pirates of the Caribbean 3 soundtrack. It's gonna be amazing.
See Yu
John Williams' finest work.......2007-04-20
There is little more I can say that hasn't already been said about the soundtrack to Episode 3, especially what Amazon contributor Dan Mohr wrote in his review of the soundtrack on 2/2/2006. His review captured almost all the thoughts, feelings, and emotions I had when I first listened to the soundtrack, and was, IMO, the best review of John Williams' greatest masterpiece.
Having said that, I will say that few soundtracks have ever so perfectly captured the underlying emotional currents of their respective movie; in the case of ROTS, the contemporaneous tragedies of Anakin's fall to the Dark Side, the extermination of the Jedi, and the rise of the oppressive Empire. The listener is confronted with the depth and totality of the evil that has beset the entire galaxy to a degree that the film could not reach in only 2 hours.
Bravo, Dan Mohr, and BRAVO John Williams!
A Great Conclusion to the Prequel Trilogy.......2007-04-07
This is a great work of art. I rank it 4th among Star Wars soundtracks after A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and The Phantom Menace. I had a hard deciding which I thought was better, The Phantom Meance or Revenge of the Sith, but I decided that The Phantom Menace lays the foundation for so much that is in this soundtrack and is thus the more masterful work. But that doesn't mean that this score still isn't great. Every piece is a thrill to listen to and pace never lets up. "Battle of the Hereos" is an amazing piece and the rendition of the "Funeral Theme" from Episoded I captures the film's tragety magnificently. Also I do not think John Williams could have portrayed the Jedi's extinction more perfectly than he did in "Anakin's Betrayal". This is without a doubt the best score of 2005 and one of the best of the decade.
Williams is slumming it.......2007-04-01
Williams's score for Revenge of the Sith is almost entirely overbearing, lacking any emotional subtlety. The music is overcomplicated and even a bit confusing, especially in the tracks that correspond to action sequences in the movie. His overuse of choral tracks and vocals is too bombastic and irritating to be listened to without the explosions and laser blasts of the soundtrack to soften them. (Yes, this music is actually softened by the sounds of warfare.) Worst of all, much of the music has simply been lifted from earlier scores. At times his self-imitation was so blatant that I actually wondered whether the editor who had complied this score had made a mistake and I was listening to The Empire Strikes Back or A New Hope. Also suffers from not including the entire score, in some cases cutting out musical segues in obvious and awkward ways.

Destiny's Child began in 1990 as a novelty act aimed at teenagers. But they exceeded all expectations, both commercially and artistically, becoming a platinum-selling, multi-Grammy-winning sensation and attracting fans from all age groups and backgrounds with their dulcet, feisty-fresh harmonies and message of sisterly solidarity delivered with plenty of keep-it-real and love-over-all. Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams -- LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett left early on -- have broken ranks to devote themselves to their individual careers so the end of an era has been accomplished. But this collection is a bonanza for new fans and completists, capturing the band's chart-toppers in one place, augmented by Stand Up For Love plus a pair of pleasant but unessential other new tunes. The Dual-Disc B-Side contains a selection of videos, each of which display the ladies at their show-stopping, luscious best. It feels odd to think of this band in the past tense, so even while celebrating their past achievements, let's hope that they will continue to reunite whenever the spirit moves and for years to come. --Christina Roden

A MUST HAVE FOR YOUR COLLECTION.......2007-05-07
This is an excellent CD to add to your collection. It is one hit after another.
OK NOT MY FAVORITE.......2007-05-07
I LIKE DESTINYS CHILD ENOUGH TO TOLORATE THEM. THEY HAVE A FEW GOOD SONGS. IVE NEVER SEEN A BAND GO THRU SO MANY MEMBERS AS DESTINYS CHILD. MY FAVORITE DESTINYS CHILD SONG IS "SAY MY NAME". I LIKE THIS SONG BECAUSE IT HAS A GOOD BEAT AND IT CATCHES THE GUY CHEATING. IF YOU ONLY LIKE A FEW DESTINYS CHILD SONGS THIS ISNT THE CD FOR YOU. IF YOURE A DIE HARD FAN GET IT.
Destiny Fullfilled Indeed.......2007-02-06
THe best thing about his CD: They have the PERFECT amount of hits to fill one CD. That seems to b the problem for most other Greatest CD's, but not this one.
Destiny's Child has the best R&B music from the late 90'-early 00's, and this D proves i. Hot beats, catchy hooks, d beatiful voices, this C is FULL of them. An the ballads are very nice.
A lot of the songs are in edited form, so they could fit all the singles on one CD (except for "With Me", their secdon single that made no impact). Also three new songs are included.
This CD is TOP-NOTCH, and I easily recommend this to R&B and pop fans.

Destiny's child #1's.......2007-01-18
This is an awesome CD! I don't get tired of listening to it- plus it's dual sided, one with just the songs and the other side with most, if not all, of the videos for the songs. So cool!
#1's, A Great Collection .......2006-11-04
It's a pleasure to talk about this Album (#1's)!
I can say that even the people who are not a big fan of Destiny's Child and was not used to buying their albums until now, but like the rythims and the songs played by them, will be very satisfied when they listen this album carefully.
First, it is a collection of the songs from all the albums, since destiny's child until Destiny Fulfilled.
Second, there are three new songs. One was named as the 2005 World Children's Day Anthem , Stand up for Love. The other one is in the soundtrack of the Pink Panther movie, played by Beyoncé Knowles & Steve Martin, Check On It. And the third song is Feel The Same Way I Do.
Talking about the wonderful DualDisc, it contains 7 video clips of Destiny's Child and the Teaser of the Concert Destiny's Child Live in Atlanta.
So, It is impossible a person listen to it and don't like it.

LOVE Rainbow, HATE My Destiny.......2007-03-13
Kat can sing Over the Rainbow like nobody's business. It's just beautiful. However, My Destiny is the most cloying, ridiculous song I've ever suffered through. Here's hoping she feels the same way and will choose her future music accordingly.
SIMPLY THE BEST.......2007-01-12
KATHARINE MCPHEE BRINGS SUCH A UNIQUE SOUND TO THE TABLE. HER VOICE IS SIMPLY AMAZING. HER VERSION OF SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW IS ONE OF THE BEST VERSIONS OF THE SONG I HAVE EVER HEARD.
TO ALL THE FANS GO OUT AND BUY IT. SOMTHING DEFINITLY I THINK YOU WILL LISTEN TO MORE THEN ONCE.
MUCH LOVE

Brillant voice.......2007-01-10
This cd is wonderful, you can hear the full expression of one of the most beatiful voices of america. The principal single "over the rainbow" is perfect, the version showed here is even better than the original played at American idol contest. Ideal for a romantic night, candles and twilight, the caress of her voice can conquers everyone.
The second song "my destiny" is good too but obviously become pale next to the perfection of the other song. It let you appreciatte other aspects of katherine's voice not expressed on rainbow track, like more power nearly afro voice and higher tones played at this song.
In short a great purchase. The only defect i can say is that you want taste more of her art, but there is only two songs in this cd.
Over the Rainbow is over the top.......2007-01-09
This is the most beautiful and expressive version of the classic song I've ever heard. I'm so glad it was produced on CD after it aired on American Idol!
Sing it girl!.......2007-01-02
Kat and Chris Daughtry were my two favorites on American Idol last season. Kat has a beautiful voice and amazing talent! I used to sing Opera and Classical music and have a very fine tuned ear making it easier to pick out the real talent in groups. I am painfully aware that this doesn't always mean they will win though. I believe the only time someone DESERVING won American Idol was in season 1, Kelly Clarkson. I am really looking forward to Kat's CD coming out and plan to buy it.

Some thought it would never happen, but after solo successes and a three-year hiatus the ladies of Destiny's Child have reunited for the eagerly-anticipated Destiny Fulfilled. The Houston-based trio of Kelly, Michelle and some girl named Beyonce follow up their mega successful Survivor with another album full of infectious dance grooves and melancholy tales of women done wrong. Lead single "Lose My Breath" is their first offering of the former. Backed by a kinetic marching band sample, they sing with an urgency that bolsters the Rodney Jerkins-produced track. Current single "Soldier" is more of the same. Featuring T.I. and Lil' Wayne, the song allows the trio to sing the praises of the kind of men they like.
Despite this one-two uptempo punch, DC does do ballads. They go old-school on the moving "If." Michelle, who has several impressive solos throughout, and Beyonce trade lines about finding and holding on to love. However, on "Bad Habit" the trio goes for the paint-by-numbers woman finding her inner-strength theme. Other highlights include the 9th Wonder and Beyonce-produced "Girl" and the midtempo gem "Free." --Rashaun Hall
Customer Reviews:
Beyonce contradicts herself and Destiny's Child is lame.......2007-03-09
Ok... Beyonce sings about being a very independent woman and being a Survivor but she's singing about have a ghetto thug in Soldier to make her complete and that she will slave over a man in Cater 2 You? She lacks substance in her music and she's contradicts herself. There's a better word for this a Hypocrite. First of all, the Destiny's Child girls are from a upper middle class neighborhood in Texas but they're dressing up as ghetto girls in the Soldier video? And they're singing about that they want a ghetto thug as a boyfriend. No girl wants a ghetto dude as a boyfriend. They mays sell more albums than most girls groups but TLC, the Supremes, and En Vogue and even latin freestyle girl groups from the 1980's like the Cover Girls, Sweet Sensation, Seduction, Expose have more substance in their music and lyrics.
Sometimes on, sometimes off.......2006-11-22
Destiny's Child has been named the best-selling girl group of all time and it's not hard to figure out the reason why! Their tight melodies, slammin' beats and looks definitely shout "superstardom" and Destiny Fulfilled (their first--and last--disc as a regrouped act) showcases them nearly at their best. Lead single "Lose My Breath" combines a sample of a marching band and Hip Hop-induced R&B hooks to make one slice of pure ear candy; "Soldier" is another example of DC at the top, but had it not involved the typical overused rapper appearance it'd have been much better (in my opinion T.I. and Lil' Wayne only bring the song down). "Cater 2 U" opens with a soft, introspective raindrop-like introduction and shimmers into a great R&B ballad. The trademark Destiny's Child harmonies are apparent on the opening of "If," another beautiful ballad on Fulfilled. In the past Michelle hasn't had much chance to have solos (Beyonce is no doubt the powerhouse singer here--but that doesn't mean she has to overpower the other two girls) but here she has several. Aside from the stellar opener "Lose My Breath," "Through With Love" is almost as addictive. Overall, Destiny's Child could have done a little better since this disc is a little dragged down by too many bland ballads, but in the end it's still a great tribute to the world's best-selling girl group and should leave the listener indeed feeling fulfilled.
It's...Ok .......2006-10-30
I like Destiny's Child alot and I liked this cd somewhat. Some of the good songs are "Lose My Breath" which is a good one to get ppl dancing at a party, "Cater 2 U" which is a good song to listen to if you have nothing to do, "Soldier" and Is She the Reason" those are the good songs. If you want to hears these songs without having to buy the cd, just download. Easy as can be plus if you don't like it you could alsways delete it.
Very Entertaining.......2006-10-27
I love this album - I just got it as a free CD from Columbiahouse. It's a grown woman's album. I can listen to it from beginning to end without skipping tracks. It's has a good mix of club bangers, slow jams and sad love songs. Also Kelly and Michelle do more singing than in the past. They have good voices as well. Different to Bey's voice but good nonetheless. #10 Through With Love and #5 Is She The Reason are the tracks that were not released as singles that I love the most.
1.Lose my breath - When this song was released as a single, I didn't really like it but it grew on me since then. I like the marching band sounds in it.
2. Solder feat TI and Lil Wayne - This song is hot. I bought this single from itunes before I had the album. Love it.
3. Cater 2 u - A great love song for a woman to dedicate to her man. I bought this single from itunes before I had the album. Love it.
4. T-shirt - Another sweet, sexy love song - like it. Very sexual
5. Is she the reason - I love this song - I love the tune.
6. Girl - This is a 'supportive of my sistas' song. Very affirming and positive. Promotes sisterhood and friendship.
7. Bad Habit - This is a song about ending the cycle of breaking up and getting back together. It's another great song.
8. If - This is different but good. It's about a cheating man.
9. Free - This is about the freedom you feel when you leave behind a bad relationship. I like the positive vibe of this song.
10.Through with love - I LOVE this song. I love how it sounds. This is one of the best of the unreleased singles off of this album.
11. Love - This is a song about finding love with someone. It's beautiful and a good conclusion to the album.
Great Comeback Album.......2006-09-20
First of all, I'd liked to start off by saying that this CD review should be more than 3 1/2 stars. What the hell is wrong with you people, people are bugging if you think that "Survivor" was better than this. That album had a bunch of fillers and just plain "pointless". These tracks were more mature, and were better when performed live. I saw them when they were in New York last August touring, and I was especially inpressed by Michelle. She killed "Through with Love", as well as her solo single "Do You Know". To be honest I wish they never broke up, because there's a lack of true R&B groups out there. They need to get a reunion together and give these other groups a run for their money.

Not even Dionne Warwick and her mind-reading friends could have predicted that, over the course of two CDs, Destiny's Child would become one of the most successful girl groups on the planet. But successful this Houston trio is, and their sophomore CD shows why. Yes, the lineup changes as often as lead singer Beyoncé's hairstyle, but fun, disposable pop/R&B needn't be rooted in permanence, and DC is mad fun and mad catchy to boot. With the assistance of hitmakers Shek'spere and Kandi Burruss, Destiny's Child trade in effervescent, hip-shaking, finger-wagging, 'you-go-girl, kick-him-to-the-curb' anthems. The Writing's on the Wall is loaded with tracks like "Bills, Bills, Bills," which are suitable both for dancing and as topics on the Ricki Lake Show. The percolating "Bug A Boo" is irresistible, as is the sassy "So Good." To their credit, the girls can slow the pace down, and on the sultry "Temptation" they get to work their considerable chops to nice effect. But as sales and chart figures have shown, Destiny's Child are at their best when they are laying down the law to some trifling man, and/or working their own groove thang. Work it they do on this somewhat formulaic but ultimately irresistible effort. --Amy Linden

Stardom For Beyonce Was Born .......2007-03-09
What can I say about this CD is that the album is excellent. There really isn't anything bad I can say about this is that I wish Beyonce could've shared the mic a little more with the other members, and maybe slow down on the male-bashing. In all honesty, they do need it at times if the show trifling behavior. The standout tracks would be "Say My Name", "Hey Ladies", "Temptations", "Now That Your Gone", and "Bills, Bills, Bills". This will forever be a classic and DC's best album. "Survivor was a horrible follow-up.

Destination Stardome!.......2006-11-06
Few People would have thought that the band with the quite modest debut would be able to make such a great second album and eventually become one of the most succesful girl-groups of all time. "The Writing's on the Wall" would have countless of hits and the album itself would eventually sell 12 million copies and spend 99 consecutive weeks on the Billboard album charts (that's about 2 years). With new producers, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins and Missy Elliott among others, the sound would also change and they would find their true identity. There would be some ballads, but the hitsingles would be uptempo songs with female attitute, something that contributed to their rise of fame. Unfortunately there would also be changes in the lineup, LeToya and LaTavia who were both childhood friends with Beyonce and Kelly felt they were maltreated by manager Matthew Knowles (Beyonce's Father) and left the band, they appeared on the recording but not in the videos. Farrah Franklin and Michelle Williams joined instead, but Franklin's visit would be shortlived also. The album however is very strong, uptempo's like "Bills Bills Bills" "Bug A Boo" "Jumpin' Jumpin" and "Say My Name" were all big hits and with that Destiny's Child both had good critital acclaim and a great fan base. Album songs like uptempo "So Good" and slow pace/ballads "Confession" and "Temptation" are not bad either, towards the end there's a few too many songs though, 12 songs instead of 16 would have been better. The end result is good, Destiny's Child had got superstatus with a own sound and the album was more even the their debut, their upcoming 2 albums would also be good before a split-up was inevitable. 4 stars.
This album was their destiny!.......2006-10-21
Beyonce and company created a classic album with `Writings on the Wall', arguably the best Destiny's Child album period. With hit after hit, it was this album that made Destiny's Child a household name. Sure, `No, no, no' was great, but can you remember any other track off their ill-fated debut? I can't, but I can sure remember just about every track off this album. Actually just today (don't tell my wife this is so embarrassing) but I was driving to lunch when I heard `Bug A Boo' come on the radio (probably my favorite Destiny's Child song ever) and I just started singing with Beyonce, every word flooding back into my mind. So freaking catchy! Anyways, the album is great, from hit club bangers like `Jumpin, Jumpin' and `Bills, Bills, Bills' to classic slow jams like `Stay' and `Temptation' (sultry) and then my personal favorites `Bug A Boo' and probably their biggest hit `Say My Name' Destiny's Child will forever be remembered for this brilliant sophomore album. It's too bad that Michelle wasn't a part of this since I really like her talent...it's just that Destiny's Child will never be able to reach the greatness they experienced with this album.
Destiny's Child will leave you speechless.........2006-09-07
Beyonce, Letoya, Kelly, and Latavia grabbed the music industry in a chokehold and squeezed the air out with this solid sophomore album. This was the last album we saw with the "original" memebers of Destiny's Child (today just Kelly, Michelle, and Beyonce) and redefined 'girl groups' in R&B forever.
This album was primarily based on the do's and don't of relationships. These women covered everything from cheating, to paying bills, bugging your mate to death, jumpin' off in the club, giving into temptation, confessions on infidelity, and so much more. There was so much substance to the album that it put Destiny's Child on the map, unfortunately we saw roster changes for 8 months straight (but that didn't stop their reign, it only made them stronger....hence "Survivor"..)
Standout tracks: Confessions, Temptation, So Good, If You Leave Her, Say My Name, and Hey Ladies. Phenomenal work!

Classic Album... and deserves its due.......2007-07-26
I'll start by saying that I absolutely despise Iron Maiden and think they are the most overated band in metal history. That said, Judas Priest could be the most underated. This baby right here just drives that point home bigtime. The album pays for itself with the opening track alone. Victim of Changes is perfection. I think there are better Priest albums - headed by Stained Glass but back in the day...this group took the heavy metal drivers seat (so to speak) and drove it to freakin musically lore. They deserve much of the praise given to "eddie" much, much more.
Just Listen To Dreamer Deceiver!!!!!!!.......2007-01-27
Listen to that song and tell me it is not great. This also contains classics like Tyrant,Victim Of Changes,The Ripper. There is no doubt in my mind that this is Priest's best album. Period!!!!!!!!
I love it.......2007-01-05
I bought this record album when I was a teen, many many years ago. The music sounds just as good now as it did then. Crank it up!
BOW TO THE PRIEST.......2006-10-08
The Metal Gods when they were only Rock Gods. Victim Of Changes is the break out song on this piece. Also a number about Jack The Ripper (The Ripper) which Tim Owens uses as his name after he replaced Rob Halford when he left. This is a true classic album for The Priest, the Tyrants of all.
Judas Priest - Sad Wings of Destiny.......2006-07-18
I was first turned on to this album around '83 - '84. I have a brother ten years older than me and he had Sad Wings on vinyl. When I first started getting into metal/hard rock it was Iron Maiden, Saxon, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Rush, 80's Priest. I was listening to Maiden/Killers one day in my room when he burst in, took the record off and started to put Sad Wings on. I was pissed at first and jumped up to stop him. He pushed me back down and said, "just listen". So I did. I must have listened to Sad Wings 20 to 30 times in a row that evening. I turned all my long haired, metal head buddies on to it the next day. It is probably, if not the best, then one of the best metal albums ever.

Now 6.......2007-02-15
Now 6 is definetely the best CD in the Now series yet! I love it! Most of the songs are really good. I love ATC's "Around The World", as well as K-Ci & JoJo's "Crazy" because they have great lyrics and music. I also like Jennifer Lopez's song,, as well as Coldplay's and Destiny's Child's "Independent Women Part I", which is really good. Samantha Mumba absolutely has potential, and I really like Incubus' "Drive", because I love the lyrics a lot. But my 3 favorite songs are as follows: 3) Fuel's "Hemorrhage (In My Hands), because the lyrics rock as does the music. 2) 3LW's "No More" because it is just a great song! But number 1 is Crazy For This Girl by Evan and Jaron, because it has awesome lyrics, awesome music, an awesome beat, and Evan and Jaron have got GREAT singing voices!
But there's a downside...'NSYNC's song, even if it's good, is VERY old (1 year and 2 months old when this C.D. was released!), some might find Shaggy's song inappropriate (but I still like it), and I HATE Creed's "With Arms Wide Open", mainly because of bad lyrics, scratchy voices, and horrid music! All the other songs not mentioned here are good.
Still, the upside makes up for the downside very well, and it's a great album for the pop listener, and I highly recommend this.
A review I forgot to write...Now 6.......2006-08-27
I purchased Now 6 in October of 2001. I was bored and needed to find my taste in music...now 5 years later and wiser. I've decided to give the run down on each song.
1.Britney Spears-Stronger: I've seen the video for this....it's hookable but doesn't cut it for me..Too popish and repeatitive. She can sing but she put too much in it. Using tech equipment and thunder. Girls who like her or there mom's might go for it lol 3/10
2.Samantha Mumba-Gotta Tell You: When i first heard this song i liked the lyrics. The video made sense also. It's still pop but not popish as stronger. It falls into pop and romantic. Sure I'll let it play. 5/10
3.*NSYNC-Bye Bye Bye: Terrible! Need I say more? So annoying Not surprised one of the member's is gay. 0/10
4.ATC-Around The World(La La la La La): Man...i so can smell sell out..only thing good about it is the beat. This is the type of techno i won't fall for. The lyrics don't even make sense Skip! or maybe i knew where it was on the cd scratch! 0/10
5.Jennifer Lopez-Love Don't Cost a Thing: Ok it's better but can get annoying...they played this song alot for the movie the wedding planner go figure. She sings of how love isn't about money and be loved for free. If she didn't add in of the gangsta style I might have gone for it more. 4/10
6.Destiny's Child-Independant Woman Part 1: Sucks! Sell out for the movie Charlie's Angel's I think they were bored and saw money on the table when they were writing this song 0/10
7.Shaggy-It Wasn't Me: Good music. Good lyrics. Enjoyable. Except the other guy singing like he's from jamaica. 6/10
8.3LW-No More(Baby I'ma Do Right): When this came out. Girls Sing to this song....maybe i'm missing something but it's not for me. They hide there voices from the equilizer. Doesn't cut it for me. And plus I have different thoughts about the lyrics. The lyrics cover for the guys who can get girls just like that. And for the easy girls who sing about guys who are not faithful. Just break up! lol 2/10
9.K-Ci & JoJo- Crazy: I usually skip this song and hardly give it alot of listening. It's ok for when your at school dance and want to have a slow dance with a girl you have a crush on.Too much of the equalizer for the voices. Sure I'll give it a listen. 5/10
10.R. Kelly-I Wish: Sucks because he has the kids go I wish I wish every 15 seconds. Other then that it doesn't give any feeling for me. Gets better after the first two minutes. Lyrics are not bad. I've skipped this track and haven't given it much listening until now. 5/10
11.Backstreet Boys-Shape of My Heart: Good Song. I didn't want to have it played on the radio but they did. I'm not a fan of the Backstreet Boys I'm not much of a boy band listener. But this song is good. Good lyrics. Good music. Surprises me. 7/10
12.Evan and Jaron-Crazy For This Girl: Good Song just as good as track 11. It gives you a feel of a montana dude living in the city and falling for a girl who lives in the next building. He sings of a girl he loves and wonders if she knows or not. The main chorus "Would you look at her she looks at me she's got me thinking about her constantly. but she don't know how i feel. and she carry's on without a doubt. i wonder if she's figured it out that i'm crazy for this girl...i'm crazy for this girl." That's part of the song. Awesome lyrics. Hats off 8/10
13.Coldplay-Yellow: Good Song. I sometimes skip..sometimes play..depends on the mood. Not bad lyrics 7/10
14.Lenny Kravitz-Again: Not bad...same thing as yellow sometimes skip sometimes play. he wonders of seeing this girl again and how he can win with her. 6/10
15.Fuel-Hemorrhage(In My Hands): Perfect Song. I've replayed this song a couple of times. Great song. Surprised i never heard it on the radio....radio has weird taste. 9/10
16.Creed-With Arms Wide Open: Good song but I think differently of the band now then 5 years ago. They broke up due to contract issues....smell's like sell out attitude. Anyway. Good song I still like and still will play...at least better then replaying my sacriface on the radio a billion times during 2001 and 2002.Which is another sign of sellout. Still good song. 9/10
17.Incubus-Drive: Good song for when i'm driving. 9/10
18.U2-Beautiful Day: They played this song in the movie "Bandits" with Bruce Willis. Not bad...but not my favorite now as when it was released. 7/10
19.Everclear-Am Radio: It's ok my friends liked it. I don't know what everclear was doing. Were they singing or giving us a history lesson...I'm all set...end cd 3/10.
In concluding this long review. I hope it gives you future buyers help to decide to buy it or not. In my opinion I think it's just better to download the songs you think you might like or pick up the album itself of the artists. I don't know I feel i shouldn't have bought it now five years later. I should of gotten to know how to download more or buy the artist's album itself. I was 13 and had no taste in music. I've noticed the last half of the cd was starting to skip...possibly since i gave it alot of playing then the first half. In end I give the cd an average 3 stars.
Thank you for reading,
Alex.
Vol. 6.......2006-07-18
Everclear gives us pop and Backstreet doesn't suck...it's all here on the next in the 'Now!' series, yet another album full of songs you've already heard 100 times and yet for some reason decided to subject yourself again. Yes, it's true no matter what you say, that this is as guilty a pleasure as they come, for you're buying an album full of the same songs that, had they come on the radio, you'd turn off in a heartbeat with most likely a disgusted face and a remark like "not this crap again" or "I just heard this song."
Fast forward to now. Today you buy this album, or if you already own it you put it in your CD player and you enjoy yourself because these are no longer the songs you hate to hear but the songs you long to hear for they remind you of your yesteryears...and that's why the 'Now!' series is so entertaining...because while it may not have seemed it in 1999, this album has staying power.
So this time Britney starts things off, and while 'Stronger' isn't by any means a 'strong' song it's not as horrid as 'Lucky' was and is a decent listen. Samantha Mumba, another one hit wonder, offers us a taste of something good on 'Gotta Tell You' and of course N'Sync rock with 'Bye Bye Bye' which, I don't care who you are you have to love!
There are some blah tracks like ATC's 'Around the World' and the horrid Destiny's Child 'Independant Woman Pt. 1' but their made up for by Shaggy's 'It Wasn't Me' and R. Kelly's 'I Wish'. I'm also a huge 3LW fan and just love 'No More' while I could live without 'Love Don't Cost a Thing' while it doesn't make me skip the track. K-Ci & JoJo make a comeback with the 'Save the Last Dance' anthum 'Crazy' and they score...I mean as much as I try to hate this song I just can't (maybe cuz I love the movie so much).
As I mentioned, Backstreet doesn't suck here. I actually enjoy 'Shape of my Heart'...so sue me.
The rock here is a decent mix, Kravitz resurfacing AGAIN with 'Again' and it's a great song. I can't hate it or diss it in anyway, I've always loved it and always will. Not a huge fan of 'Yellow' as much as I love Coldplay, I just never really cared for that song. Fuel and Incubus are great if not...played out, and Creed is Creed although 'With Arms Wide Open' while huge in it's own respects does nothing for the band really. I don't mind 'AM Radio' I just don't like it. It's too poppy even for Everclear and that upsets me. Other than that the only bone I have to pick with the Now! people is that fact that they really need to mix these better instead of having all the rock at the end, they need to intergrate the genre's. That way we can get everything all at once!
Now 6.......2005-11-17
I just love the NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL MUSIC! series. The NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL MUSIC! series are nothing more and nothing less than CD's with a bunch of hit songs on them. It's great for people who only like certain songs and don't feel like wasting money on a whole album when you're looking for only one or two songs from certain artists. It also lets you carry around less CDs so you do not have to carry around your entire CD collection wherever you go! Here's the list of tracks and what I think of them:
"Stronger" Britney Spears - - this is Britney's best song, after "(You Drive Me) Crazy". This song even sounds a bit like "Crazy". [5/5 stars]
"Gotta Tell You" Samantha Mumba - - this is a really cool song! It's a great uptempo, dance song. Samantha Mumba is a great artist with an awesome voice! [5/5 stars]
"Bye Bye Bye" *N SYNC - - blah! This is just about the most annoying track on this whole compilation. [0/5 stars]
"Around The World (La La La La La)" ATC - - this is a great dance song! I love the beat and lyrics. ATC's vocals are pretty good, too. Now this is a REAL dance song! [5/5 stars]
"Love Don't Cost A Thing" Jennifer Lopez - - I just love J.Lo's music and I think she's a great role model. This song is wonderful and one of my favorites on this whole compilation. [5/5 stars]
"Independent Women [Prt. 1]" Destiny's Child - - amazing song. Though it's old now, it's still one of my favorites from Destiny's Child. [5/5 stars]
"It Wasn't Me" Shaggy - - I just love this song. Though I didn't like how they edited the song on this CD...the original version is so much better. But all in all, a fantastic song! [5/5 stars]
"No More (Baby I'ma Do Right)" 3LW - - well, okay, I guess. Definitely not my favorite track, though. I like the song...I just don't like 3LW - they sound like a bunch of whiny babies! [3/5 stars]
"Crazy" K-Ci & Jojo - - good song. It's a sweet ballad. I like the lyrics and K-Ci & Jojo's vocals are pretty good. [4/5 stars]
"I Wish" R. Kelly - - pretty okay. Though really not one of my favorites. [3/5 stars]
"Shape Of My Heart" Backstreet Boys - - definitely the best track on this entire CD! I'm a huge fan of the BSB and their music rocks! This is an awesome song...never gets boring or old! [10/5 stars]
"Crazy For This Girl" Evan & Jaron - - this is a wicked cool song. I just love it. Evan & Jaron's vocals are awesome and the lyrics are great with a cool beat. [5/5 stars]
"Yellow" Coldplay - - well, not the best song. But it's still pretty listenable. This is more of a hard-core Rock song. Great song. [4/5 stars]
"Again" Lenny Kravitz - - this is Lenny Kravitz's best song! I think this is a totally awesome song. Definitely worth a listen or two. [5/5 stars]
"With Arms Wide Open" Creed - - I absolutely hate this song! It ties with *N SYNC's song on my list as being the two worst songs on this entire CD. Definetely skip over this track! [0/5 stars]
"Hemorrhage (In My Hands)" Fuel - - pretty good song. This is definitely better than Creed's song. Cool. [4/5 stars]
"Drive" Incubus - - I'm surprised that I actually love this song. It's a wicked awesome song - even though it's rock - and definitely cool. [5/5 stars]
"Beautiful Day" U2 - - once again, another okay song. This is one of the few worth-while U2 songs. And only because it won a Grammy for Song of the Year. [3/5 stars]
"A.M. Radio" Everclear - - not too great. I liked the Everclear song that was on the NOW 5 CD a lot better than this one. I'm not really a huge Everclear fan, anyways. [1/5 stars]
So as you can tell, for the most part, this is an excellent CD compilation. It is still great to listen to and enjoy. It's a guilty pleasure CD.
This CD is a great, 19-track CD with a cool mix of Pop, R&B, and Rock songs. Definitely a must-have.
allright cd.......2005-07-21
ok, I don't care much for the nsync, britney, and destiny's child tracks, as i dont care for them at all. ATC's "all around the world" is probably by far my favorite track. Theyre one of my favorite artists, and if you enjoyed that song, you'll prolly like their album "planet pop"!

Destiny offers evidence that Jim Brickman has acquired a serious interest in redefining his position on the pop-music spectrum. The lone vocal selection "Valentine"--sung by Martina McBride--that adorned his breakthrough Picture This received a warm embrace from soft-pop radio formats and no doubt encouraged Brickman to include more vocal tracks--five, in fact--on Destiny, along with nine instrumental compositions. Such efforts (plus a nine-panel CD insert that unfolds to reveal a pinup poster of Brickman's strong-jawed mug) seek to certify Brickman as a master of the romantic pop ballad, a status he already enjoys for his expressive piano works. He succeeds on nearly all flanks. Two vocal selections, "Love of My Life" (featuring Christian crooner Michael W. Smith) and the title track (with a soulful duet by Jordan Hill and Billy Porter), will likely become heart-tugging slow-dance standards at wedding receptions for decades to come. The concluding "What We Believe In," with Pam Tillis, retraces the love-struck path McBride covered in "Valentine." Carly Simon and Herb Alpert also make appearances. What seem to suffer a bit are the piano pieces. Though good, some works contain a few too many notes and just miss the unwavering beauty of the instrumentals found on Picture This. This is a minor complaint, though, and the solo piece "Crossroads" is a pure gem. Hopeless romantics everywhere, behold your Destiny. --Terry Wood
Customer Reviews:
Great CD : A must have.......2007-03-09
This is another wonderful Cd by Jim Brickman. He is a talented piano player. I fall asleep listening to this. It is a must have for any busy day. I love the songs Destiny and Your Love.
Decent, if not breathtaking..........2006-06-20
Jim Brickman's music is perfect background music, though it is too simple to be much more than that. As a pianist, I would say that he is competent, though not highly skilled. Or, to be fair, his compositions do not allow him the space to demonstrate whether he is highly skilled. The simplicity of the songs makes them highly pleasant, just not very substantial.
Within that context, this album is fine. I like working with Brickman playing, as it doesn't distract me from whatever task I am trying to tackle. And "Love of My Life" is a beautiful love song that I actually sang and played when I proposed to my wife. So, on that account alone, this album will always hold a special place in my heart.
Brickman's "Destiny" is a solid album, and I'd recommend it for anyone who wants some charming music.
Destiny.......2006-03-03
What an amazing CD. An awesome combination of instrumentals and vocals. The title track is my absolute favorite !!!
Different from the rest of his collection........2004-06-15
There are a lot more vocals on this disc than his previous works. Some of the songs work well without the voices, though. Brickman has a gift for transforming musical notes into beautiful arrangements. However, the voices detract from teh talent.
This is one of the better Brickman albums.......2003-01-10
If you buy this album you'll get what Jim Brickman is known for, a lot of good piano playing.
Unfortunately here at Amazon you'll only get to sample the first 5 offerings, but they are good. #2 Bittersweet sounds very good, it does have some violin accompaniment, not at all intrusive. #4 Rendevous has Herb Alpert guest accompanying with his trumpet. I like the song but think the trumpet is a little strong at times. #5 Hush little Baby has someone singing, you don't get much vocal work on this album which is fine by me.
