Activating Vocal Harmonics.......2007-05-05

Some music can affect us so strongly that it moves into a category of "important" - the second track "Sacred Union" brought me into a vision that was integral to my sound healing work. I mentioned that to Jonathan at one of his intensives and he said that many have given similar input. Certain music allows us to "vibrate" to a certain state very quickly. This one helps me in that way and I have often used it in meditation and sound healing sessions.

Chakra Chants contains seven tracks, each corresponding to one of the chakra points on the human body. Starting with the base chakra and ending with the crown chakra, it is a deeply moving piece of music suitable as a meditation tool, for cleansing and balancing your energy body or just for sheer listening pleasure.

The high quality booklet discusses the subtle body, the chakras and the principles of sonic healing. Each track is made up of the appropriate vowel sound, a bija mantra, an elemental and/or shabd sound and a particular keynote. A thorough and easy-to-practice guided visualization and an explanation of overtones are also provided in the booklet.

Overtones or harmonics are geometric multiples of the first note and represent the "colour" of sound. The human voice harmonics heard here add a deep emotional resonance to the sound. The voices are those of Goldman, Rabbi Shefa Gold, Gwen Tuesday and Lauren Cuggino, and all the instruments are authentic, i.e. no computerized sounds are used.

Ultimate Relaxation.......2006-01-06

I wouldn't have believed it, if I hadn't experienced this cd myself. The sounds seem to be in tune with some very deep level of energy. I have listened to this while meditating, but beware if you lie down and close your eyes you may fall asleep it is so relaxing. Besides meditating it helps with insomnia and also puts my 2 year old granddaughter right to sleep.
I would highly recommend this for yoga practice and meditation, it is the best I have experienced.

I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO THIS CD AND I RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE I KNOW. IT'S SOOTHING YET MAKES YOU WANT TO MOVE. SINGING ALONG WITH IT AND DOING THE CHANTS IS VERY CLEARING AND ENERGIZING. READ THE WORDS IN THE BOOKLET AND SEE HOW IT FEELS TO SING THEM WITH THE CD. HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ANYONE THAT NEEDS A LIFT.

The best.......2006-01-13

This is timed perfectly for an hour meditation, i sampled many different new age cd's for meditation, and by far this has bee the best sounding one. It has notes/tones that will activate your 7 main chakras, and the first time I did it i could feel mine rotating and warming up (im sensitive to this). This is relaxing and her voice and band is deeply into it. They maybe could have put a little more into 1 or 2 tracks, but overall I would reccomend this to anyone looking to reach discover their true selfs.

Great music...for awhile........2005-04-13

I like this CD, I really do...the first 2 or 3 songs are absolutely captivating!!! Track 7 is pretty amazingly inspiring too. I just didn't feel that much listening enjoyment from the rest of the album. I don't feel like they are resonating with my chakras, just too much vibrato for my ears! I thought she had this great earthly sound for the first couple of tracks and then she got all frilly and way too feminine with her voice, for me. I've been listening to it for a couple of days so, if I change my mind about her I'll let you know ;) But for now, I'm enjoying the repetitiveness of tracks 1 and 2 for sure!

Has Potential........2004-11-24

It seems I cant change the rating of this product using the edit facility, if I could I would change my initial 1 star rating from November 2004 to a 3 star maybe. Anyway, it's January 2007 and I decided to give the cd another listen after I read the comment that was made on my review. It turned out to not be so bad and the inside flap did indeed spell out what techniques were used that involve the respective chakras. I put it on in the dark and made sure I was relaxed/ receptive and tried hard to dispel any preconceived notions I had on what to expect. What I was struck by at first was the satisfying sound of traditional instruments. The accompanying vocals were pleasing too. As the cd wore on it was possible to find many spaces to explore in the music, once or twice I was a tad disturbed by the lyrics or the means employed to deliver them but this was minimal. I think I will be giving it a try again and who knows, maybe I will bump the rating up again, but for now my initial review does seem a bit off the mark...

"New Age"
I am a practical normal kind of guy that would like to be a little more in touch with his metaphysical self. Unfortunately, finding a way to do this is not very easy. People like me run a mile when access to the pearly gates comes with tea and scones on Sunday. People like me do not feel very comfortable at the thought of spending eternity with an old man in charge of winged beings who sing all day in his honour. However, people like me do not give up hope and write the whole concept of an hereafter off because a flock of bleeps have turned it into something that is difficult to stomach.
Unfortunately, Christianity is not the only thing people have turned into something that is difficult to stomach.
My exploration so far of the many different and varied ways of pursuing enlightenment has taken me from the sublime to the ridiculous.
As many different ways there are of doing it are accompanied by just as many different ways of describing it.
When I discovered Chakras recently it was with some delight I heard that healing/ balancing them might only be a question of employing sound.
And so I begin my pursuit of getting some sound to help me out. Chakra Healing Chants. This cd seemed pretty self explanatory.
When I got it though, my heart sank at the realization I had been played for a sucker. This is the kind of stuff that will make me run a mile and justifies the view of many people of what New Age is all about. In case I do not possess the ability to express this objectively, let me quote someone else:
..."New Age" music (you know -- the wandering, aimless stuff that sounds the same whether you play it forward or backward.)....
And that my friends, is what this is. With a bit of luck, I will not give up hope and be able to find something else that a guy like me can use without feeling like I have compromised my self respect. When I do, I will be back, to recommend what I have found instead of this. Don't get me wrong; there probably is an audience for this kind of stuff, if you are into wandering, aimless stuff that sounds the same whether you play it forward or backward, then this will be right down your alley. Peace Out.

One of the best new age CD's.......2003-12-18

This is one of the best new age cd's I own. Sophia's voice is like an angel. Track 4 is my favorite (for the heart chakra). I highly recommend Sophia's Healing Chakra Chants to anyone who is looking for soothing and meaningful/spiritual music.

Yogi Hari is an expert in Nada Yoga, the yoga of sound. His chanting is traditional, simple, not over-produced and extraordinarly effective. It's hard to describe the power of this CD. It will lead you THERE beautifully and effortlessly. I wish I'd discovered it sooner.

Great Music for meditation.......2007-01-31

This is very potent music - its impact on one's energy body can be felt almost instantaneously. It is a good meditation tool - but I would not recommend this for "relaxation" purposes, since the music will perk you up with strong bolts of active energy.

One word - WOW.......2006-12-26

I don't know much at ALL about chakras, just caught my eye.

One word - WOW. This music had me seeing angels,colors, books with writing on them - a couple of times I'd feel like there was energy working here or there, so I'd check my mp3 player, and boom- it was THE chakra the music was working on.

I think my chakras must be pretty dirty so I'm going to listen to it again, and again - that's my excuse anyway. My husband HAS to check this out - this is very powerful stuff. :)

Not for the casualminded..........2006-08-04

I am new to chakra meditation. As such, I think using CD's may be helpful. Why not start out with one of such good distinction? I am inclined to think, however, that since this music is fairly intense, it would help to know a bit more than nothing at all about what one is out to accomplish here. That's where the little booklet is mighty helpful, indeed.

I will say so emphatically: this stuff DEFINITELY ISN'T fufu fainthearted baby musicbox stuff repackaged to claim it'll balance your chakras! The unquestionable energy on this recording is indeed very potent. You can just tell that this guy isn't offering audio "snake oil"! The other reviews pretty much said everything else good there is to say.

Please do the loving thing for yourself. Give sincere effort to the task at hand (the meditating), no matter what music you use, should you decide to use any. If you do use music, just get this CD and enjoy. If you manage to do so, you can walk proud knowing that you're a deep person!

Deeply Spiritual Healing Sounds.......2006-01-13

I am a Reiki master and ordained priest working full time in New York City as a healer. I use many CDs in my work with clients, always trying to create the perfect environment for a healing session. The Chakra Chants CD is by far the most powerful and sacred tool in my practice!
The sounds are not just harmonious, they are holy. The blend of human voices, nature sounds, singing bowls, and drums is perfect for Reiki healing sessions. My clients enter into a deep state of relaxation and spiritual receptivity while listening to this CD.
The first few times I heard Chakra Chants, I thought I might not be able to stand while doing a Reiki session (which is done while standing at a massage table with the client laying on the table). I actually felt the energy of the music so strongly, I was almost dizzy. Being in full time practice for a number of years, this is not a common experience for me! But the CD is that powerful.
Each track focuses on a different chakra, starting with the Root and moving up the chakras to the Crown. There is a nice sound signal between the tracks to help identify which chakra frequency is playing. At first I wasn't sure I would appreciate this tiny break between tracks, but it actually serves the music well and gives me a sort of energy milestone between one chakra and the next.
I highly, strongly, recommend this CD. I have probably 30 or more music CDs in my spiritual practice, but this surpasses them all. I am truly thankful to God for this great gift of beauty and power, which helps me and my clients experience healing, peace, and joy.

Jonathan Goldman's "Chakra Chants" was one of the most exceptional albums I'd ever heard for healing and meditation. When this follow up album was released, I was a bit skeptical. I needn't have been. It is superb! "Chakra Chants 2" equals, and perhaps even surpasses the first CD. Perhaps this is because on this recording, along with Sound Healing Pioneer Goldman, is his mentor, Sarah Benson (described as being 'the Divine Mother of Sound Healing')whose exquisite voice and flutes add even more magic to the extraordinary power of Goldman's voice. "Chakra Chants 2" is a real winner--great to listen to and truly wonderful to assist in any healing or meditational experience. I highly recommend it.

This is a celestial soundtrack in seven parts that offers the ideal sonic accompaniment to various holistic healing practices such as Therapeutic Touch, Massage, Aromatherapy, Reiki or Reflexology. It is also perfect as a background to meditation or just for listening enjoyment. In this regard, fans of "ethereal" bands like Dead Can Dance, Delerium or This Mortal Coil will love it. Excellent CD for chakra meditation.......1999-08-29

I have used the entire CD as a recharge meditation, from 1st to higher chakras . If you're not familiar with the chakra system, get the CD and play with breathing slowly, relaxing each body part from your toes to the crown of your head. Goldman intertwines the core sounds from Tibet with flowing rhythms and harmonies that westerners can access. I love this CD!
