One of Benoit's Top 5 Recordings.......2007-07-25
I first listened to this album back in '88. I was only 13 years young at that time but David Benoit's beautifully written pieces from this particular period blew me away. It sort of started me onto the musical path. Shibuya Station inspires; Painted Desert moves you with its' moody arrangement; The Key to You is now a classic; and the rest of his compositions found here are sure to make your drive home from work well worth it.
Benoit's BEST!!!!!!!!.......2007-07-09
I need to say that this is his BEST CD out there. His ones w/ Russ Freeman come close. If your looking for a good David Benoit CD ,look no further. This is the one. Buy it. You'll be really glad you did.
My reference standard for contemporary keyboard Jazz.......2007-03-18
I couldn't resist adding another 5-star review. I rediscovered this album this week when I found myself plinking out (badly, very badly) some of the melodies on the little Yamaha keyboard my son received for his birthday. A brilliant recording of a brilliant pianist. "Remembering What You Said" is one of the most memorable and moving melodies I've ever heard.
This is perhaps the best album ever........2007-03-14
I have listened to this album countless times. Every time is just as magical as the first. Even if you are not a contemporary jazz fan, there is nothing else quite like it.
Show Off Your Stereo WIth This One.......2004-08-30
I listen to this CD all of the time. Not only because it is well written and performed, but even moreso because it was digitally mastered. The net result is that your stereo shines with it. Absolutely no distortion, the highs are crystal clear and the low really gets your sub or regular woofer kickin. Great CD across the board. Their isn't a single bad cut.
Another great album for making your stereo shine is Lee Ritenour's with Wes Montgomery's "Wes Bound"
When friends come over and you start talking sound systems, they both are great.
I first heard David Benoits CD when I visited a high end stereo store, and that is what they were using to sell their equipment. Highly recommended.

Incredible!.......2007-04-24
I have never purchased a strictly instrumental CD before, but this is an amazing work. Calming and pleasing notes and tones deliver more than I expected. This is the best CD I have ever bought. Each song delivers an unexpected treat. Usually a CD has one great song and several so-so. Not here. They are all an experience of greatness. Loved it!
Peaceful.......2006-08-26
Excellent!! An outstanding guitarist. You must listen to this while cooking and having a glass of wine. My wife and I enjoy all of his work. His music takes you somewhere else. It makes you look at life a different way.
Forget it.......2003-05-12
This is brutal stuff folks. I mean come on how cheesy can you get, it is best to ignore it at all costs. I advise you to try some early Gentle Giant like 'Three Friends' instead of this.
You WON'T be disappointed!.......2003-01-19
This is a fantastically diverse collection of moodscapes for acoustic guitar; Peppino is a true original, and while his playing often features impressive technical flourishes, it also has a deeper, lyrical quality that makes a lasting impression in your consciousness. Just listen to "Costa Rica" turned up a bit to get the feel of the brightness and energy that this Italian-born maestro channels into the instrument. For a real treat, catch Peppino live!
Exceptional Artist, Fantastic Release!.......2002-10-03
Stevie Vai's Favored Nations label has now branched out to cover acoustic artists recently signing Tommy Emmanuel, Peter Huttlinger, Pierre Bensusan and Peppino D'Agostino. These acoustic performers offer a dramatic contrast in style to the electric side of the house which features the likes of Stevie Vai, Greg Koch, Eric Johnson's Alien Love Child and Greg Bissonette. The artists here are every bit as accomplished as their electric counterparts but, as with D'Agostino's latest release, offer a mellow and more relaxed view of the fret board. On this release, D'Agostino plays some of the instrumental guitar solos which he wrote over the last 35 years. While not a true greatest hits CD, it is a selection by the artist of some of his personal favorites. For good measure, Peppino throws in two new compositions, "The Blue Ocean" and "Under The Same Sky". On all tracks Peppino's nylon strings sing out beautifully and without compromise.

Customer Reviews:
from Solo Piano Publications.......2003-04-19
Matthew Zachary's second solo piano CD is stunning. I didn't think he could improve on his first album, "Scribblings", and was surprised at first at how much more complex musically "Every Step of the Way" is. The reason for that is simple - in 1999, Matthew was still recovering and retraining his left hand after surgery in 1996 to remove a malignant, golf-ball-sized brain tumor. He had to start from scratch with his left hand not only with playing the piano, but writing, and most other functions. If you are not familiar with Matthew's story...learn more about this incredible young man who has been to hell and back and survived, determined to share his message of hope and encouragement with those less fortunate than he is and who are still struggling with the ravages of cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Now six years in remission, Matthew's two CDs are being used extensively with health care providers and organizations to provide messages of hope and inspiration through "InspirationTherapy". Classically-trained for ten years, Matthew Zachary successfully blends classical and jazz elements into his own distinctive style, keeping the tone positive, but not shying away from the discordances that are part of life and reality. Three of the eleven pieces are improvisations, giving us a marvelous look at the inner workings of an incredible musical mind. As with "Scribblings", it is difficult to single out any favorites. All of the pieces are strong, colorful, and full of hope. I do especially like "Followthrough", with its moving forward, catching its breath, and then surging forward again. "Aura" is one of the improvisations, and is a swirling, roller coaster of a piece. "Kaleidoscope" was composed for a child's ear, simple, direct, and positive - a musical warm and encouraging smile. If I had to choose one favorite piece from this outstanding CD, it would be "Believe". One of the improvisations, I love the shifting rhythms and a phrase that also appears in "Rain" on "Scribblings". This piece is an anthem to Life and to the joy of beating the odds. I love it! "Wynter" has traces of Vince Guaraldi's compositions for the Peanuts Specials, and was composed as a tribute to Charles Schultz. "Autumn Drive" starts out peacefully and builds to describe country-side scenery blurring at high-speed on a back road. Also full of joy and exhilaration, this is another great piece in a great collection! "Every Step of the Way" is sure to be on my Top-10 for 2002!

Heir Apparent to Pete Seeger.......2006-02-18
My parents had Pete Seeger. This generation has Mark Dvorak. These tunes are mostly new songs that Mark wrote, but they are crafted with an ease of style and grace that lets you realize that the folk music genre can grow and change while still maintaining strong connection to its roots.
I personally like Every Step of the Way, My Rose of Jericho and Don't Let the Blues Make you Bad. Actually, I like them all. Mark is a talented performer and songwriter. The only thing better than listening to this CD is hearing Mark in concert. So, until you can have that opportunity, get this CD!!!
