Heartbeat: Rhythm of Infinite

Editorial Reviews

At nearly 10 minutes per track, each murmuring piece on Heartbeat: Rhythm of the Infinite serves as a brief meditation on positive thinking. Mixing recorded heartbeats with woodwinds, along with strings and vocal melodies born of Egyptian and Sanskrit mysticism, Heartbeat represents what's stereotypically New Age. There are also baby gurgles, rain sticks, hand drums, and flutes. The intent of such music is to promote healing and unity of mind-body-spirit. It's all perfectly appropriate as massage accompaniment, but outside that context listeners may find themselves uncomfortably stifling giggles. While the ideas presented are entirely likable, there's so much going on at once that Heartbeat is essentially overly stimulating, and suffers from coming across as a little too twee for the average music lover. --Paige La Grone

5 out of 5 stars Heartbeat's hypnotic energy works for me!.......1999-11-19

I am a graphic artist and work at home. I find that listening to Heartbeat affects me in an unusual way. It is hypnotic and yet allows the creative juices to flow and so flows the work.

I find its heartbeat rhythms energizing. A totally satisfying listening experience.

5 out of 5 stars Musically excellent, delightfully enjoyable.......1999-11-17

I am a commercial photographer, and Heartbeat has been the soundtrack for many shoots in the studio. It's comfortable enough for background, and there are enough layers that one may "tune in" periodically and enjoy it's complexity. The high production values hold up to critical listening and fills my studio with music. Most music in this category tend to be so soft and Yanni/KennyG-like as to be over-processed, synthetic, and very wimpy. Heartbeat has an organic quality to it that keeps it fresh and interesting through many plays. This isn't the usual New Age stuff- it's more evolved, and much, much better.

More, please?

5 out of 5 stars Very soothing and nurturing music.......1999-11-16

I absolutely love the CD "Heartbeat" and listen to it all the time, at home, at work, in the car, before going to sleep, and I never tire of it. It has a very soothing effect, and the rhythms of the heartbeats keep you in tune with your own. To me it has as much a flavor of world music as new age, which I both like very much. All in all, it's a well-done CD and fits the spirit of our time.

4 out of 5 stars This music is uplifting and easy to listen to........1999-11-16

The rhythms of the human heart provide the background and inspiration for this upbeat music. I could listen to it for hours, and have. The woodwinds and drums and intense rhythms have an international flavor that I especially like. The lively melodies and songs create an exotic and somewhat hypnotic mood, yet they are not intrusive into one's thought processes, so it is easy to listen to this music while reading. Unlike a previous reviewer, I would not listen to this music while receiving a massage since I would probably end up dancing on the massage table.
