Solo flute record live in The Great Pyramid. Wendy Luck, composer and flutist, created The Ancient Key writing structures, melodies and rhythms prior to her Egyptian journey. These compositions served as seeds for the selections contained in the album. Once there, she improvised the music inspired in the moment. The music draws on many aspects of her musical background: classical, jazz, avant-garde and non-western music, where unusual effects, new fingerings, harmonics and non-standard concepts of pitch and scales come together to create new world music for the millennium. This recording utilizes the natural acoustics of The Great Pyramid. No studio effects have been added.

HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL MUSIC BY A GIFTED MUSICIAN.......2001-08-09

As a massage therapist who does a lot of healing work as part of my practice, I am constantly looking for music that will relax and enhance the state of my client, opening them to become more available - not just to the work I am doing, but also more available to life itself through their process. In Wendy Luck's music, I don't have to look any further. It is brilliant on so many levels : first, as an accomplished musician, who effortlessly and skillfully transforms her flute into a vehicle to take you on an inner journey; secondly, for the resonance and the acoustics of the Great Pyramid, in which she recorded this wonderful album of music; thirdly, for her intuitive understanding of her music as a tool to SHIFT THE RESONANCE OF ENERGY in the world, opening it up and expanding it to new levels. Wendy Luck's "The Ancient Key" is a marvellous collection of contemplative moods, recorded at ancient sites in Eqypt, such as the Great Pyramids. These cavernous locations fill the recording with dense natural reverberation reminiscent of Paul Horn's "Inside the Taj Mahal."

Luck uses a variety of flutes, including the lush, resonant Alto Flute, as well as several native flutes from around the world. These latter, in particular, give "The Ancient Key" a timeless sound that connects musical traditions from the Middle East and the West to ancient times.

This is a great album for those who enjoy contemplative music. This disc played continuously during the labor and delivery of our second child. Thorughout, the music stayed fresh and vital, creating the perfect mood to welcome our new arrival.
