Human Heart: The Songs of Mark Kelso: A Benefit for the Homeless

Editorial Reviews
Clytia Fuller, DJ, KZSC
"I predictably went first to the cut by Lui Collins, and sat stunned by the beauty. Now I'm starting from the top,and am very impressed. It goes straight to the Heart. I get a lot of cds in the mail, and some I am quite willing to put directly into the KZSC library, and some I feel more stingy about. Yours falls into the 2nd catagory. Please send me one for my personal use if you can!"

Product Description
Human Heart is a contribution by the artists to the cause of helping homeless families and children get back on their feet again. All profits are being donated to organizations like The Interfaith Hospitality Network, Covenant House, and local shelters in various cities across the US.

The songs cover a wide range of styles, from gentle ballad to gospel to pop/rock (check out the samples for a sense of the spread), but all speak to the wide range of emotion in our human hearts, and to the underlying sacred nature of the human condition, held as it is in the hands of a Divine Love.

Human Heart is full of overtly spiritual, but open-minded, messages that have touched the hearts of Christians and Jews, those in recovery, teenagers, young children, those finding their spirituality in their connection to the Earth and anyone, really, who has a human heart, capable of feeling, laughing, crying, loving, or dancing!

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Inner core-able.......2002-08-20

I first liked Human Heart because of the title and how it will help the homeless. Then I listened to it a lot and now I love it because of what the music does, the words, the performers, the messages and the songs that have stayed in my head. Mark Kelso's music/lyrics are thoughtful, hummable, laugh with able, and take to your inner core-able. The lineup of performers is lovely- just right for the songs they chose or were chosen to do. (I am now hot on the trail of these performers' other CDs...) So many ways to talk about/express love- the environment, nature, animals, kin, God, Barbie (yeah), children, death,... For me it is a reminder that love is all around us- only to be defined and embraced by our own (human) hearts.

5 out of 5 stars This is a wonderful collection of moving songs, I loved it!.......1999-08-10

I may be biased (as one of Mark's piano students), but I would like to thank all the artists for a wonderful collection of moving, funny, and beautiful songs.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful heart felt songs!!.......1999-02-03

Mark Kelso writes beautiful songs about real people situations, without resorting to cynicism. Good Music for reminding yourself that it is right for people to have a different way of seeing the world and that the affirmation of life happens in a multiplicity of ways. You will love it!
