Primordial Exquisite.......2007-05-30
Coyote Oldman make for such a satisfying experience in sound. Tear of the Moon was the first of their recordings to receive widespread attention, a recording of undeniable beauty, tranquillity, and power. I still return almost 20 years later to this tape for the peace.
the musical prescription for peace and tranquility.......2007-04-26
Being an audiophile, bed time seems like wasted time when not listening to great music. Most of the music this listener hears is too stirring to foster the mind frame necessary for a positive dream time. Enter Coyote Oldman. Some may dismiss this as new age music. There is an understandable skepticism about such music. Ultimately, such critics are missing out on "Tear of the Moon." This is the soundtrack to either a profound meditation or a good night's repose. Rest assured, "Tear of the Moon" is both relaxing and a quality listen. The Native American flutes and Incan pan pipes will gently carry the listener off to another world. Barry Stramp and Michael Graham Allen's aerophones dance in a mystical, reverb soaked state of tranquility. Originally released as a cassette, this version includes a twelve minute bonus track that brings the time up to a respectable CD length. "Tear of the Moon" is one of Coyote Oldman's most compelling vision quests.
Peaceful, Lovely, Mystical..........2006-08-03
I put my son to sleep every night playing this cd. We never grow tired of the beautiful music and we even bring it with us when we go on vacation. I highly recommend this album!!
Absolutely the most beautiful, mystical music I have heard.......2003-03-13
I first heard this music many years ago at a meditation group and was immediately sold. These are the most beautiful sounds played to perfection. I recently bought the CD (my cassette was getting a little worn) and introduced Coyote's sounds to my heavy rock loving husband who to his surprise sat in awe listening to it. I still use it for meditation, my husband uses it to drift off and relax with, this music can take you places!! I haven't met anyone yet who hasn't lost themselves in the Tear Of The Moon. Enjoy!
This album began my journey into Coyote Oldman music..........2002-10-06
Haunting is a word best describing this album. Incan pan pipes and Native American flutes together create beauty through sound. The music was recorded during the time between dusk and dawn which make this a wonderful album to listen to at night. Nice echo effect, too. Reminds me how blessed I am to be able to hear such music.

Waxing Moon is Amazing Music.......2002-02-19
I came late to the Jupiter Coyote scene. In fact, I've never seen them live. My contact with the band comes from their studio work, like Waxing Moon. To say the least, I am impressed with their musicianship. The band is tight, talented and brings you through a gamut of moods with this album. If you are not familiar with Jupiter Coyote, take the risk and buy this album. It's well worth it. Then, since they tour about 200 days a year, catch a live show. My favorite track is "Becky"; a love song about a mountain.
Amazing!.......2002-01-31
Anyone who even professes to enjoy music must own this CD! An awe-inspiring blend of traditional Southern Rock and innovative performance.
Can't stop listening........2001-10-01
I heard this group first on the public radio channel locally and loved them. The first CD I bought was their live recording which is awesome but this CD, their newest is superb. If youve never heard Jupiter Coyote before, I'd describe them as early Allman Brothers meets Lynyrd Skynyrd by way of Charlie Daniels and even that doesn't describe their sound. Since obtaining my copy of Waxing Moon, I can't get enough of it. I listen to it over and over, get tired of it and listen to some Christian, some blues, some rock, and then I've got to have another JC fix. I can't get enough of these guys. Their sound while unique for me, is timeless. I dare say I'll be enjoying their sound right into my twilight years. If you like guitar riffs, fiddling, and down and out jamming, you've got to get this CD. I've seen these guys live myself in their home town of Brevard NC and believe me they ROCK! If you ever get a chance to see them live, don't miss it. And if you're reading this you're probably thinking of getting this CD. Don't hesitate, buy it now. You won't be sorry, and I hope you might even thank me someday. May their music give you as much pleasure as I've received and more. Happy listening.
There is no stopping this band!.......2001-07-28
I have followed this band for many years and watched their growth from hard woking dedicated boys, to accomplished musicians. Their exciting live shows have rewarded them with an extensive fan base that they visit reguarly from relentless touring. I can say enough about these guys. They have worked their tales off and established themselves as a national touring act all independently. Waxing moon is a beautifuly textured album with many different styles intertwined with strong musicianship and melodic lyrics that beg you to sing along. If you blend rock, bluegrass, celtic, pop and down and dirty funk you might be able to pigeonhole these guys. Help support real music; you'll love this one!
Out of time, but timeless.......2001-03-29
Just heard the newest from my favorite band. Admittedly, I am biased.
Waxing Moon is the latest, and its hard to say its their best recording, but that's only because they have consistenly produced incredible sounds for years now. Their blend of Southern culture, jam band, and classic rock is truly unique. The only thing standing between JC and commercial success is timing. While bubble gum and generally (...) music populate the airwaves, quality can have a hard time getting to the top, because, let's face it..(...) floats.
Do yourself a favor, but the CD, kick back, pour a drink, and enjoy.

Customer Reviews:
Southwest soundscapes.......2003-11-19
This disc is a nice synthesis of styles incorporating jazzy elements to Hispanic guitar licks with a dose of Native American sensibilities for a mellow southwest flair. For example, "Maidens of The Flute Clan" sounds like some type of background music for a ritualistic dance in the desrt of Arizona. "El Kabong's Fiesta" sounds just as it's titles implies; like it is music from someone's family party. You would expect to hear some whistling, cat calls or a voice singing in Spanish but instead it is a solo by sax that leads into the guitar rips for a surprisingly interesting alternative. "Prickly Lullaby"is a stripped down song featuring mostly soft guitar work to light percussion that is soothing and makes you strain your ear to hear the melodies but what you hear is well worth it. This is a pure instrumental CD that has a down home kind off feeling. BTK's fretless classical nylon string guitar sings beautiful melodies. The addition of Zeta Violin Synthesizer does not detract from the accoustic sound but rather gives it another dimension with a haunting melody. Somehow this music sounds like the type of music you might hear entering a gift shop in Santa Fe , New Mexcio as the smell of incense wafting through the air amidst the Native American arts. The CD has a minimilist feeling to it even thought there are various instruments featured. It is a very relaxing bit of music that rarely excites with something stunning but if you listen carefully and close your eyes you just might hear the howl of the coyote in the siloutte of a full moon in the desert. If you like this CD you also might like a previous release from 1987 entitled " Desert Dreams" by the same artist. Recommended for fans of music reflective of the Southwest. A pleasurable listening experience rated 3.5 with a running time of 49:02.

Customer Reviews:
Amazing, contemporary Native American Music!.......2005-11-22
Just to let everyone know, the review below if for a different cd. The cd described here is the 2001 Northsound compilation of 3 Native American songwriters of Crow, Cherokee and Choctaw descent: Jerry Alfred, Karen Therese and Little Wolf. It is EXCELLENT!
A Rollicking Good Time!.......2001-11-07
Ben Tavera King's fusion of Southwest Native American, Hispanic, and New Age results in one of my three or four favorite CD's. Only Ben could take an idea which is essentially "Mariachi tenor sax" and really make it fly. His nylon string guitar work is excellent, and very "pre-electric" authentic Southwest; his flute work ranks him as one of America's best jazz-style flautists. This album, with its titles like "Ramona's Ritual Rhumba," "El Kabong's Fiesta," and "Pancho's Getaway" is as much rollicking entertainment -- and far better serious new music -- than the titles would imply.
