There are many, many Andrew Lloyd Webber albums out there, including cut-and-paste compilations and songbooks from individual artists, most notably Sarah Brightman, Michael Crawford, and even Jose Carreras. The Premiere Collection is probably as authentic as you can get in a hits album, however. In addition to the most popular selections from the original casts of Evita, Cats, and Jesus Christ Superstar, the 57-minute album includes two selections from Tell Me on a Sunday (also recorded by Bernadette Peters as Song and Dance), the title tune from Starlight Express, the "Pie Jesu" from the Requiem, and a snippet from the Paganini Variatio Spur of the Moment Cook: Spontaneous And Flavorful Meals For The Busiest Days Of The Week

    Volume 2 (comprised of 2 CDs) is another first rate compilation of the series' original music and not to be missed by U.N.C.L.E. fans. The liner notes are wonderful and add a lot to ones appreciation of the music.

    My only problem is that THE CDs ARE COPY PROTECTED! Considerable work is needed to get the music onto your iPod, if you really want the music in your mp3 collection. This is a major hassle and a surprise, since the first set in the series was not copy protected.

    Many of us have always thought The Man From UNCLE had the best music for a TV series ever, and this three double CD release confirms this. Wow! I'd be just happy with one CD, but having SIX (three double CDs packages) is absolutely out of this world, I mean, a lifetime wait come true.

    Indeed, this is an unbelievable collection of three double CDs packages with the complete series soundtrack, and I mean the complete music, not a tune is missing.

    And this is the ORIGINAL Man From Uncle music. Let me stress the point: this is the four years ORIGINAL soundtrack with the original recordings as they were heard throughout the series, not a no-name orchestra doing personal versions of the stuff. The audio transfer is very, very good, the music from late episodes is even in stereo.

    Each individual CD carries over 70 minutes of music. All in all there you have the four TV seasons main titles and all, absolutely all of TMFU unforgetable music.

    This is not a chronological release, meaning, all CDs have a mix of music from all four TV seasons. Volume 1 is heavier on early TV seasons stuff, fans of Jerry Goldsmith will love it. Those of us who prefer what Gerald Fried and later Richard Shores did with TMFU music, then volume 2 is mandatory. If you are a fan, you can't miss any of these six CDs. However if buying all three double packages is too much for you, you must go with Volume 2, no questions asked. Volume three is the weakest of them as it brings "suites" and a whole CD with "The Girl From Uncle" soundtrack, but you have a bonus "Open Channel D" beeper.

    Each package is gorgeous, each with a glossy color booklet with extensive liner notes with details on how each tune was written to a specific TV series episode and how it was used onwards. You have bios on the composers, on how the recordings were made, even an overview on how many instruments were available in each of the years the music was recorded.

    So, throw away your Hugo Montenegro Man From Uncle CD, this is the REAL thing.

    I've got the original music (including v2 and v3), the books (the best is Heitland's The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Book; still in print);
    the 22 VHS tapes issued in the early 1990's (a haphazard collection issued in no particular order of episodes that boasted famous guest stars). Can I please get the whole series on DVD? I have not seen Mother Fear toying with Illya (The Children's Day Affair) in over 40 years.

    4 out of 5 stars New Age flute, be gone!!.......2005-12-31

    Nativitas is a good recording of 23 Christmas classics, such as "Adam Lay Ybounden" and "O Magnum Mysterium". I say "good" because interspersed among some of the pieces is this cloying New Age flute. It really gets annoying when the flute plays over the choir on the last song, "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing". I bought the CD to hear the excellent choir, not a flute that doesn't know its place.

    If you aren't annoyed by the flute, then you can mark the CD up to excellent. It is more ethereal than happy, so take that into consideration before buying. (I like "ethereal" better myself.) And a poor choice was made in including "Once in Royal David's City" without a solo for the first verse. King's College does that one so much better, New College should have tried something else.

    With those caveats, I recommend the CD.

    This cd continues to be my favourite Christmas cd, after repeated playings, year after year. I can't say that there is anything that I don't like about it, it's absolutely fabulous, a real gem.

    During the rush of the Christmas season, oftentimes we forget what Christmas is really all about. In an exceptionally beautiful and reverent way, NATIVITAS reminds us of how God's love came to us in the birth of Jesus Christ. The music takes us on a journey of a spiritual nature with beautiful a cappella voices of the Choir of New College. An exquisite flute transitions medieval, classical and contemporary carols which have been intelligently arranged thus giving the listener a peaceful and reflective musical experience.

    Especially beautiful are "The Little Road to Bethlehem" and the "Stille Nacht".

    NATIVITAS is a celebration of what all christians hold most dear--God's grace and God's love for each one of us. Through listening, it reminds us once again what Christmas is REALLY all about. Highly recommended.

        Books is was not an easy soundtrack to get my hands on. It was my husband that did. Our toddler has an everlasting affection for the film and the two songs, "Hi Diddle de" and "I've got no strings" so we thought the second addition to his own c.d. collection would be the entire soundtrack. (The Snow White soundtrack was the first, and that is just as great as this one!)
        Remastered into all it's glorious musical score, Pinochhio is a great c.d. for those who like movie/musical score type soundtracks. It does have the two songs that my son loves too, and also, "when you wish upon a star". "When..." is one of the most sweet and simple songs that has never failed to enlighten me. I get very choked up and happy at the same time when I hear it. It's such a classic song. I actually think the music is better than the movie! There were parts of the film that I thought were truly disturbing.
        I highly recommend this c.d. The sound is crystal clear, and it is brilliantly remastered to bring you into the story and feel Pinocchio's pain, sadness, and joy.

        I've been looking for this soundtrack for years, and I can't say enough about it.

        Once again, the Pinocchio Soundtrack has made it onto CD, digitally remastered, no less. The sound quality is outstanding, and you can hear the craftsmanship of the musicians behind the music.

        Buy the soundtrack to Pinocchio while it's in print, because you never know when the Blue Fairy known as Disney will make it disappear again!

            This is the first album from the artist, moris tepper, that I've heard. I saw him open for PJ Harvey a coupla' years ago and was blown away. This album is even better than the live show! He has his own unique sound and the album is mostly hard hitting agressive, alternative modern rock but there is something special in his work. Great lyrics and a very free style. Some of the songs sound dirty and punk and other tunes are like beautiful folk songs from another planet and another era. You just have to check it out but I feel like I've stumbled onto a little known secret. He also has a website with paintings, videos and mp3 samples at www.candlebone.com. you can hear samples there and check out if the album is your thing. Hope you enjoy it as much as I am.
