Released in 1995 Rhythm Quest Vol. 2 is Ward's second volume of original flute compositions. Recorded in different places that are sacred to Ward this collection continues where the first volume Rhythm Quest left off.

I learned of this special album in a review (which I quote below) that now, after listening to the CD, was by no means overstated.

12 beautiful tracks. Not merely music, but each track is a hymn to the Earth. The winds of Nature blow through Ward's reverent and uplifting flute. Highly recommended.

The first time I heard "Openings" I was in my car listening to the radio, and I was captivated. As soon as it was over, I rushed to a phone to find out what I had been listening to. I think what struck me the most was the amazing blend of voices, and the unique instrumentation (Part 4 brings in a jazz band of sorts with bass, drums, and saxaphone). Joan has a wonderful sense of harmony. She uses the voice's full range of melody and tone like the instrument that it really is. It is a wonderful performance of exquisite compositions.
