Product Description
These meditations were inspired by my ancestral Celtic roots in Ireland and Scotland, and by Canadian & American descendants, who boldly pioneered in a new land: distant branches of the same tree. Monashee is a name bestowed on lovely mountains near my home in British Columbia. Larissa Ardis, a local writer, inspired me with this piece of local history:

'Legend has it that a hardy Scottish highlander braved the elements of our then untamed wilderness, prospecting for minerals. After a particularly rough day of scrambling alone through thick mountain forest, chilled by rain, snow and wind, our hardy Scot, Donald McIntyre, found himself at the evening sunset. The winds calmed, the clouds parted and the setting sun illuminated a nearby mountain with a peaceful glow, "Monashee " he uttered gratefully in his Native Gaelic.'

Monashee is a local phonetic translation of monadh sith, Gaelic for mountain of peace.

An ancient alphabet, an early Irish alphabet, the Ogham or Beth-Luis-Nuin alphabet was created by Druids. Each of the 25 letters represented a tree, plant or natural element. It is also know as the 'Tree' alphabet. Trees were sacred in Ireland and Britain. I included mention of this in the imagery of Returning Home.

Let Returning Home restore a sense of connection and the Call to Adventure guide you on your hero's journey. Love, Shannon

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars An Excellent Experience in Relaxation.......2003-08-23

I am relatively new to the world of meditation. Over the past 18 months I have been experimenting with different guided meditations to help quiet my 'monkey mind'. I certainly found what I was looking for when I came across Monashee Mystic. It is soothing, relaxing and calls out to that little voice within me. Coming from a strong Scottish background, this CD has even more appeal to me. I am able to identify with the message and its general theme. While there is a Celtic theme within this guided relaxation, it should appeal to anyone seeking the inner peace of a relaxed mind.

I found this CD to be inspirational and very relaxing. The quality of the sound is excellent and Shannon's voice is very clear and relaxing. The utilization of bagpipes at the beginning and end of the CD serve as bookmarks for this wonderful journey. They seem to evoke inner emotions and call out to one to remember where they came from and, perhaps, what has been left behind. Very soulful.

As I am sure you can gather from this review, I strongly recommend this CD and anxiously await other works from Shannon.

5 out of 5 stars Wow - guided imagery with a Celtic sweetness!.......2002-10-07

Wonderfully original material. Two heart opening meditations that help me to recharge my batteries in a way that takes my body and spirit to a soulful place. I am truly inspired by Shannon's work. Although the meditations are written with subtle Celtic imagery they are general enough to take anyone to their tribal roots.
