Like that attention-getting title, Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs!, this Huntington Beach quartet brings on the musical exclamation points. Following a self-titled EP in 2004, Hellogoodbye debuts with a sugary dose of synth-pop. Then, once you think you've got the foursome figured out, they put Jesse Kurvink's hyperactive keyboard playing aside for mandolin-bedecked ballad "Oh, It Is Love" ("Baby, It's Fact" is another rare mid-tempo tune). The group is rounded out by Marcus Cole (bass), Chris Profeta (drums), and Forrest Kline (vocals, guitar). According to the liner notes, all songs were written by Mr. Kline... and his dog. And those songs include lyrics like "Oh girl it's true; I can never be away from you / It's like you gloss your lips with glue / Oh we kiss and I am stuck to you" ("Stuck to You") and "Present for a presentation presented presently" ("Figures A and B"). In album closer "Two Weeks in Hawaii," he even uses the word "rad." Twice. Okay, so Kline isn't Cole Porter, but his yearning tenor and playful tales of puppy love are a perfect match for Hellogoodbye's pep rally anthems. --Kathleen C. Fennessy
Customer Reviews:
What a cool surprise!.......2007-07-17
I heard "Here in your arms" on a random internet radio station and went looking for the band. The track samples sounded really promising and I got the album - it's been a long time since I was actually able to say having an entire CD wasn't a waste of money, but this one was just track after track of stuff I have been enjoying the heck out of.
FUN CD.......2007-06-12
This CD is a combination of really fun and some sweet songs. I'd recommend it! The style of music is unique.
Hello to Hellogoodbye!.......2007-06-09
Hellogoodbye are a synth dance/rock act from the US, despite sounding very British, and "Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs!" is their full-length debut CD. It came out in the US last August, but only last month in the UK.
Opening cut "All of our love" (which reminds me a bit of UK group Bloc Party) perfectly captures their sound; a synth driven stomper, with vocodered vocals, digital bleeps and tweets, and ultra catchy hooks. In a similar vein are "Here (in your arms") (US top 20, currently in the UK top 5), and "Touchdown Turnaround (Don't Give Up On Me)".
Deviating from this template are straight ahead electro rockers "All time lows", "Stuck to you", "Homewrecker", the frenetic paced, "Figures A And B (Means You And Me)" with pulsing synths, and the sunny electro pop of "I saw it on your keyboard".
The ballad "Two weeks in Hawaii" wouldn't sound out of place on a My Chemical Romance album, with its gentle-to-raging-chorus style.
My favourite track is the Beatles-esque piano driven "Baby it's a fact", a charming midtempo sing-a-long with lovely harmonies, and lead vocalist Forrest Kline declaring puppy love in a charming innocent-like voice.
The UK edition of the album comes with 3 bonus tracks; live versions of "All of our love" and "Baby it's a fact", and the rocker "Shimmy shimmy quarter turn".
This CD is awesome!.......2007-05-13
I love this CD- from start to finish- highly recommended to all!!
sugary sweet yum yum. .......2007-05-08
i bought this cd because i have way too many dark songs on my regular playlists. ie. morrissey, bauhaus, skinny puppy etc. which are awesome bands that have really stood the test of time with me, but i needed something a bit more upbeat and happy. this cd is perfect for that. happy upbeat catchy tunes with semi cheesy and a little bit sappy songs about love. great cd to get if you need a musical pick me up.

Dinosaurs may not say please but the kids always say please when they ask to listen to this story. Great lesson and fun to hear over and over again. We've had the privelage of hearing Bill in person at the National Storyteller's Festival and can't get enough of his work. The grandkids are becoming avid fans, we've already worn out a couple of items and had to replace them. You can't go wrong with any of Bill's cds!

Customer Reviews:
Not a bad recording --for Cipolina Fans.......2006-05-12
This is not a bad set--the 1st cd set is the bands 1st and only album-I have this album on vinyl and I got to admit sounds better than the cd. Barry Melton, John Cippoliona and friends are in the band. Melton's singing is average and not too strong. My question is Where is Nick Gravanites? He was always jamming with these people. His vocals would definiitely improve the recording. The high points of the 1st CD are Lay Back Baby and Mona, both with great guitar from Cipolina and Melton. The 2nd CD are live recordings and suffer from poor sound and boring material. My suggestion is buy the vinyl if you can find it or get this one on cd and ignore the 2nd CD--there is a big difference. Rock on Quicksilver fans!!!!!!

Beautiful music........2007-01-10
I sat back with the lights dimmed and a cup of hot coffee and enjoyed the beautiful haunting music of years gone by. Memories abound.
5 stars for performance, 4 stars due to omissions.......2006-08-29
Why doesn't this get a perfect five stars?
Simple reason.
The producers at Silva, for wahtever reason, decided to cut down their SHE suites and Hands of the Ripper suites.
On the previous Hammer releases, "Draculas - Classic Horror Films", released in 1993, recorded in 1989, they had seven additional minutes of "Hands of the Ripper" that could have been included on this set.
Additionally, The Devil Rides Out: Film Music of James Bernard, released in 1997, recorded in 1995 and 1996 had about a minute more of additional music from SHE, PLUS about seven minutes worth of suites from Quatermass and X: The Unknown.
Both discs in this new re-issue round out at around 68 minutes, so there was room for some of these omissions.
Silva Screen gets big kudos for a reissuing these recordeings in the remastered HDCD format, but I don't understand these omissions. In fact, one of the tracks included, "Vampire Hunter" isn't even from a Hammer film, and its the only recording on this collection not on previous Silva CD's.
Again, 5 stars for the performances, the 1989 performances with Neil Richardson and the Philharmonia are fantastic. (Dracula, Dracula: Prince of Darkness, Dracula Has Risen From The Grave, Taste the Blood of Dracula, Hands of the Ripper, Vampire Circus.)
Additionally, The Westminster Philharmonic under the baton of Kenneth Alwyn do an excellent job as usual (Kiss of the Vampire, Curse of the Mummy's Tomb, She, THe Abominable Snowman, Quatermass II and Curse of the Werewolf.) Finally, the City of Prague Philharmonic, who get a bad rap more often than they deserve round out hte album and IMHO, deliver the goods, under the trusty batons of Paul Bateman (Scars of Dracula, Frankenstein Created Woman, additionally, Bateman also plays the piano solo on Kiss of the Vampire.) and Nic Raine (The Devil Rides Out, One Million Years BC, When Dinosuars Ruled the Earth, Creatures The World Forgot, The Vampire Hunter)
I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could.
Much thanks to producers David Wishart, Eric Tomlinson and James Fitzpatrick and recording engineers Mike Ross-Trevor, John Luard Timperley and Jan Holzner for contributing to these fine historical film music recordings.
"Hammer & Silva...raises the hair on the back of your neck".......2002-04-09
Silva Screen takes us on tour through the castles of Transylvania with a collection of
outstanding scores from James Bernard on Disc One ~ "DRACULA" (1958)..."KISS OF
THE VAMPIRE" (1964)..."DRACULA PRINCE OF DARKNESS"
(1966)..."FRANKENSTEIN CREATED WOMAN" (1967)..."THE DEVIL RIDES OUT"
(1968)..."DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE" (1968)..."THE SCARS OF
DRACULA" (1970)..."TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA" (1970)...even though the
blood doesn't flow as easily in "KISS OF THE VAMPIRE", the score from Bernard is
seductive, sensual to say the least for "creatures of the night", masked ball scene blends
atmospheric trance-masquerade themes, intoxicating main title is hauntingly mesmerizing with
"VAMPIRE RHAPSODY", just listen to the piano solo from our character in the film Carl
Ravna (Barry Warren), son of Dr. Ravna (Noel Willman) along with daughter Sabena Ravna
(Jacqueline Wallis), a cult of vampires in early 20th century Bavarian, praying on a young
honeymoon couple...Bernard's rhapsody captures the listeners heart and BLOOD!
Let's look at Disc Two with the other Hammer themes and their composers ~ "THE
ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN" (1957-Humphrey Searle)..."QUATERMASS II"
(1957-James Bernard)..."CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF" (1960-Benjamin
Frankel)..."CURSE OF THE MUMMY'S TOMB" (1964-Carlo Martelli)..."SHE"
(1965-James Bernard)..."ONE MILLION YEARS B.C." (1966-Mario
Nascimbene)..."WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH" (1969-Mario
Nascimbene)..."HANDS OF THE RIPPER" (1971-Christopher Gunning)..."VAMPIRE
CIRCUS" (1971-David Whitaker)..."VAMPIRE HUNTER" (2000-James
Bernard)...difficult as it may be, there is a stand out ~ "THE CURSE OF THE
WEREWOLF", fine direction from Terence Fisher (director) with an outstanding cast Oliver
Reed (Leon-the Werewolf), Clifford Evans (Alfredo), Yvonne Romain (Servant Girl) and
Catherine Feller (Christina), Hammer's departure from the old stereotype of the beast is
refreshing, Reed's performance as the tormented sole, from man to wolf is touching, the score
by Ben Frankel is tense building at it's best, to say the least, setting the tone and mood for the
transformation with counterpoints is stimulating, inclusive orchestration development for what
lies ahead during a full moon.
Without a doubt the highlight pick hands down is "SHE", composer James Bernard gives of
himself without question, the SUITE takes the orchestra into lilting melodic exercises with
percussion chiming in, the harmonies are hypnotic blends of textured fabric, listen as The
Westminster Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Kenneth Alwyn display stirring strings and
a solo harp run the scales in "THE ETERNAL FLAME AND THE DESTRUCTION OF
SHE", hold-fast arrangement has haunting echoes of Bernard's constant theme, with a final
beat from a drum in the percussion section.
Must make mention the cast of players that made this possible ~ The Philharmonia Orchestra,
The City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, The Westminster Philharmonic Orchestra ~ and
their various conductors Kenneth Alwyn, Paul Bateman, Nic Raine and Neil
Richardson...supported by the illustrious staff from Silva Screen Records LTD ~ Reynold da
Silva (executive producer), David Stoner (associate producer), Gareth Williams (Dolby
Surround/HDCD Mastering) and of course James Fitzpatrick (compilation producer), who
has the knack of developing quality in every Silva Screen release...similar to "A History Of
Horror:From Nosferatu To The Sixth Sense" (SSD-1111/2CD Set), guaranteed to raise the
hair on the back of your neck!
Total Time: Disc One 68:01 on 14 Tracks & Disc Two 68:46 on 14 Tracks ~ Silva Screen
Records SSD-357 ~ (2002)

Then head skyward to fly with graceful pterosaurs and plunge into the sea to swim with marine reptiles. Customer Reviews:
Very Interesting........2007-01-14
Pretty cool CD. Music combined with dinosaur grunts and growls along with buzzing insects, rippling waters and sounds of a tropical rainforest.
Kind of a neat album to put on with headphones and shut the lights off.
Also good for kids interested in dinosaurs and it contains great sound effects and the album really delivers on what it set out to do.
In other words, this is a project that very easily could have come off sounding stupid but Douglas Irvine does a great job and puts out a great Dinosaur CD.
If you are a Dinosaur Enthusiast, you need this in your collection.
Bringing Dinosaurs to life.......2006-03-08
The effects of this CD opened a whole new world of dinosaurs for young children. Combining sound effects with props intrigued young children to expand their learning of an unknown world. Highly recommend this CD for learning and for relaxation!!
Outstanding!.......2005-01-11
I have had this cd for over a year now and have never gotten tired of it. It is one of a kind and fantastically done. Mr. Irvine has recreated what actual dinosaurs might have sounded like (we actually have a decent idea what some of them may have sounded like thanks to paleontologists). He has placed these dinosaurs in their respective environments, be it underwater, on the plains, or in a rainforest. When you listen to this you can imagine being a time traveling paleontologist hiding in a tree watching actual dinosaurs go about their business. How cool is that (for dinosaur fans anyway ;))? The music in this cd isn't distracting but enhances the experience. Someone decribed Mr. Irvine's music as *Spare* on another cd and I would agree. He doesn't go in for lavish orchestral arrangements on this piece, but instead for essence and substance. Check out his website if you want to hear soundclips of this piece, then come back here and get it, you won't be disappointed. I hope to see more like this in the future!
A Magical Auditory Journey to the Mesozoic Era!!.......2002-03-31
Dinosaur enthusiasts, fans of nature/music CDs or anyone simply in search of a strange and wonderful auditory journey to a time we can only imagine must buy this CD. Without narration and merged seamlessly with lovely, original "nature CD" musical themes, the sound effects are completely believable and wonderfully executed. The calls of a herd of Jurassic sauropods foraging through a stand of primeval conifers are haunting, as are the sound images of an ancient thunderstorm upsetting the residents of a Mesozoic forest. The fury an allosaur attacking it's next meal is almost frightening, while the calls of ancient pterosaurs riding the winds of Jurassic Texas capture the mind's eye. If you enjoyed the BBC's "Walking With Dinosaurs" or are simply captivated by the idea that our planet once belonged to these wonderful creatures, you must order this CD.

Album Description
2007 digitally remastered reissue of this 1972 album from the band featuring future Stiff Records artist Jona Lewie. Blues rockers Brett Marvin & The Thunderbolts reached #2 in the UK with 'Sea Side Shuffle' in 1972, under the one-off jokey name Terry Dactyl & The Dinosaurs. There followed two more singles and an album using the name. Seaside Shuffle had originally been released by the production company Sonet in 1971. When the UK label took a license and promoted the single the following year, the single became an international hit. Differing to their parent group Terry Dactyl & The Dinosaurs served up an interesting blend of jug band and acoustic blues shuffle style sounds, not a long way from contemporaries Bronx Cheer and Mungo Jerry. Consider the instruments involved for a further clue as to the sonic atmosphere which, alongside your guitars and piano, include: African Whistle, Siren, Asba, Tin Cans, Kazoo, Zobstick, Woodblocks, Washboard, Dustbin and Rubber Duck! 16 tracks. RPM.

An excellent trip down Memory Lane..........2005-08-10
When I was ten years old, this was one of my very favorite cassette tapes. Imagine my surprise when I found a copy of it at a second-hand record store on CD! I bought it, gave it another listen, and was surprised at how well I remembered the songs on it. The songs on this recording, as recorded by the stars of the fairly popular early-90s sitcom revolving around a Flintstones/Simpsons/Land of the Lost type of family of Dinosaurs, are somewhat cheesy and schmaltzy, but tuneful, memorable, wholesome, and at times, pretty darn funny!
If you find a copy of it, grab it for your kids, unless you listened to it when you were one, and then get it for yourself. The reminiscent quality of it was definitely worth the price.

Album Description
Like a kid in a candy store, Nick Saloman gleefully advised the engineer to"take a bit off the top" of his new, digitally (for the first time) recorded album What Did For the Dinosaurs. Saloman has also forewarned Rubric upon delivery of the master thata the guitar is a bit harsher than past Bevis Frond efforts. That is not to say he is incapable of pulling off a beautiful ballad ("Lost Souls Day") which was previewed during last May's acoustic tour. The pop songcraft embraced by Mary Lou Lord, Teenage Fanclub and a smattering of other has also remained ("Silver Dart"). This "dinosaur" might still be a bit cranky. He thinks nothing of admonishing the current rock world around him while delivering mind-blowing Hendrixian leads. The Bevis Frond remain among the lone practicioners of their generation of rockers. Now at the peak of his career, Nick Saloman puts forth his latest jam packed set of music to be worshiped by lovers of rock.

Leave It To BEVIS ..........2006-06-29
First, let's talk about the package ... it is nicely done with a useful insert that includes lyrics and track notes. The artwork is similar to the latest BF cd, Hit Squad, and has that retro "Leave it to Beaver" era style. But, this one has GODZILLA blasting his death ray on the disk, and tearing down bridges on the inner cover (even meaner than a hitman on the loose). Being quite the Godzilla fan myself, having been a kid in the 60's watching Creature Feature religiously, I knew that Nick would come roaring through again with another barn(Tokyo)burner. He doesn't disappoint!
Compared with Valedictory Songs and Hit Squad, two tailswingingly fun albums, Nickzilla seems a little more angry on this one. Better get out of his way because his electro-spines are starting to glow white hot and are ready to blow. He chops all three heads off of Monster Zero and does the bodyslam on King Ghidra. All of the incomprehensible, screaming little people are running for cover, a few getting trompled underfoot (I'm sure regretably, he is a good monster!). With a venting of frustrations and some certain foul rage, this monster needs a timeout to retreat back into the deepest ocean and cool off, before everything is laid waste.
What Did for the Dinosaurs? Well, ALOT! He rearranges all of the skeletal remains and brings them back Down to Earth: "Don't complain if no one cares how hard you tried, Pay no heed to other voices, yours alone will be your guide. The more you understand, the harder you will land, When you come down to Earth". All of the songs, as usual, grow on you like Mothras silk and call you back for more adventure - don't forget your monster treats. These bones belong in a MAJOR league museum, not archived as some curiosity!
It IS something you can't SEE - listen to this musical monster and see if you can figure out What Did for the Dinosaurs (Dustbins in the Rain, at 13:36 is a scorcher in his finest Rodan sound sculpture tradition). This flick takes you to a monster island in the darkest sea and the action doesn't let up ... Total cd playtime 77:40 min. Be sure to take a cartoon break or two, and bring some munchies, you won't regret it! Yo-de-lo (I love that song - really catchy). Enjoy!
Thanks again BF for the high quality (creature feature) entertainment, the Monster Island twins approve and sing your praises. Even younger Godzookis may like BF, mine do.
The Old Dinosaur Can Still Sing & Play.......2003-02-10
Any new recording by Nick Soloman is cause for celebration. Why he isn't more popular and well known is beyond me. This new one isn't his best...my favorite is Valedictory Songs from a couple of years ago. Every song on that was great...Dinosaur's got a couple of tunes I could have done without. The recording is crisp, clean and all the better to hear Nick's lovely guitar playing. Still an essential purchase for us Bevis Frond fans.
Bevis Hits A New High.......2002-09-21
Bevis Frond keeps getting better. The melodies are more beautiful and developed than ever before. This rocks hard, goes to beautiful English folk territory and psyches-out. The 1st and last songs are total long psych-fests. Plus, no one today writes lyrics like this guy (Nick). This is mature, articulate psychedelic music with both softness and an edge. I have always loved the early Bevis (Inner Marshlands, etc,) the best but this and Valedictory Songs are at least as good if not better. This should be a major hit but won't be because it's too good, too eclectic and too English for the US music programmers. Maybe it's better that way. Along with the Israeli psych band Rockfour's "Another Beginning", this is album of the year.
Where are you, everyone?.......2002-09-01
I am a B.F. fan since Vavona - but this is really terrific stuff. I picked it up on
vacation at a cool record store in Charlottesville, Va. Nick Salomon is much more
rocking than before, but the melodies are wonderful, timeless, lysergic-drenched,
but several really rock out. Nick is truly a genius. This will probably be widely
ignored, unfortunately, it's one of the best things I've heard this year, and deserves
to be, if not a hit, at least one of those albums you listen to in your dorm room.
It's unbelievably catchy, and just beautiful - it deserves a chance.
Love and Peace to Nick - keep on going, bro!
A great album
