Product Description
Pianist/composer Seth Osburn defies easy categorization. His intricate compositions fuse classical structures, minimalist motifs, jagged, jazz-style rhythmic textures, and the epic, image-filled literate leanings of nineteenth century Romantic composers such as Franz Liszt. The musical outcome is simultaneously thought-provoking and emotionally resonant—an appeal both to mind and heart. This is not new age feel-good music, but the innovative sound of an artist seeking to forge new musical landscapes. "Seth has a deep connection with the piano and expresses all that anyone could possibly want—anger, joy, sorrow, sadness, tranquility, and peace… He stretches the boundaries of the piano as an instrument. SEVEN is one of the best instrumental (solo or otherwise) albums I've ever heard."

-Meishel Menachekanian, KCSN-FM, Los Angeles "SEVEN is an incredible piece for solo piano… This music takes you on a journey through the depths of material and spiritual existence. A classically trained pianist, Seth is both a true virtuoso and a very sensitive player."

-Rocco Somazzi, Rocco's, Hollywood "Seth is a complete master of the piano. He plays with such physical and emotional intensity that the piano produces deep resonating sounds that most people would have never expected. These powerful chords carry the vibrational energy of alchemical transformation… This young composer has obviously lived these processes and has successfully translated them into the popular vernacular of music. Just listening to this remarkable recording is a soul-shattering and spirit-raising experience." -Dennis William Hauck, author, The Emerald Tablet: Alchemy for Personal Transformation

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Stunning originality and virtuosity .......2007-03-08

I admit to bias, as I am a piano student of the composer and performer. Probably not for everyone, as the prior review indicates, this music is stunningly original. It has the power to suggest or depict transformations on a spiritual level, through analogy with physical transformation. Hence, the alchemical "program." If you value really original musical imagniation and exuberant, muscular piano virtuosity, this disk is a must.

1 out of 5 stars this cd causes anxiety.......2006-07-19

This cd had the potential to be awesome.
Instead, it's filled with anxious and obnoxious rythms.
All the songs sound too similar.
Don't get me wrong, Osburn has great talent, but he didn't use any of it writing this album.
Seriously, this cd causes anxiety.
