Album Description
While other genre labels like Narada and Windham Hill diversified from their new age roots, Real Music has been consistent over the years in providing nothing but the best music for relaxation, meditation and spiritual enhancement. Their most notable recordings come from an Eastern Buddhist mindset, with multi-instrumentalist Karunesh leading the pack on the strength of previous discs Zen Breakfast and Nirvana Café. His basic approach to contemplative music involves a blend of exotic textures (bells, chimes, Tibetan bowls, sitar and Chinese instruments) with easy grooves and rich walls of ambience. The new collection's trance inducing instrumentation and sensuous rhythms begins with a few minutes of pure ambience and sitar, before slowly introducing a gentle percussive line ("For the Joy of It All"); Avinash's graceful Indian violin carries a mournful beauty that is also part of the similarly hypnotic, easy grooving "Monsoon's Dance." Bikram's Bansuri flute floats through beautifully in key locations, such as the introduction of "Mount Kailash." While the uninitiated might feel that there's a certain repetitive nature to the tracks (which usually begin with sparse instrumentation before the electricity is turned on), the intention is more to invoke a sense of inner peace than to be truly innovative. The title of the richly textured "Zensual" sums up the mystical intent of the thought provoking exercise.

Customer Reviews:
The pleasure in the feeling of non-existence.......2006-05-28
I heard the song "Monsoon Dance" on sky.fm. I previewed other songs and then bought almost all songs. Others are fine too, just listened once.
It's been 4 days since I bought them. I am not listening to any other song than Monsoon Dance for almost 4 days, day and night.. I am usually obsessed with these kind of mystic songs, listening to one song at a time for days a stretch, even when I sleep.
Thats the effect of the song Monsoon Dance. Truly, the mystic feeling of non-existence is an amazing pleasure. I feel one with the entire universe when I listen to this song.
I wonder what the composer might have gone through to come up with such an amazing piece of music. The Indian violin's effect is rather deep.
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL.......2006-03-10
This is one of the most beautiful CDs I have every heard. I bring it everywhere when I need to relax. The sound of the instruments from India are just breathtaking.
This is great!.......2006-01-12
....if you like really strange, annoying German people who try to go "native." This is nothing but commodified exoticism; music for spiritual enhancement my arse....
Masterful & mystical "new age music" from KARUNESH .......2005-09-23
I discovered the music of this German-born composer/multi-instrumentalist by accident. I was browsing in the new age music section at a certain mega-bookstore, looking for the latest CD from Kitaro (one of my favorite artists.) Well, I didn't find the Kitaro disc that day, but another CD soon caught my eye, one by an artist I'd never heard of - "Call of the Mystic" by Karunesh. Curious about the cover-art and song titles, I put the CD on the store's headphone listening station. I was soon immersed in the music, and intrigued by its exotic sounds. Of course, these were only brief sound clips from the album, so as each snatch of music soon cut off, I was left wanting to hear more. I then came home, found the CD on Amazon, and ordered it (sorry to the bookstore, but your prices were just too high! : ) Anyway, to make a long story short, in the several months since then, I have become a major fan of Karunesh (pronounced "Care-un-ish", which is, I learned, also the sanscrit word for "compassion".) I have now also collected several titles from his extensive back catalog, and while all of his albums have their own strengths, I believe that "Call of the Mystic" still rates as one of his finest overall releases. With it's mystical/mysterious feel, warm synth textures, and heavy use of exotic instruments, this CD literally makes me feel better when I listen to it. I know that the term "healing music" is probably overused in this genre, but in this case the term really fits. It's one of those rare albums that somehow pulls the listener into its World, and transports them to a better state-of-mind for it's duration. (Kitaro is perhaps the only other new age artist who's work has this effect on me.) Like most of Karunesh's works, this album is fully instrumental (So those of you who do not like vocals/lyrics with your new age music will be particularly pleased!), with all of the tracks running in the 5 to 7 minute range (a good length for this type of music.) Now, as people usually like points of comparsion for reviews such as this, I would say that Karunesh falls into the same general "new age/instrumental/electronic" genre as Kitaro, Vangelis, or Patrick O'Hearn (although his music's rarely as gloomy as O'Hearn's can be.) However, comparisons can tend to be a tad misleading, and at the end of the day Karunesh is a unique artist who's music has a personality of its own...Here is a quick rundown of all the tracks: the album opens with "The Joy of It All", an Eastern-flavored track which benefits from a hypnotic percussion groove and the sitar work of special guest Govi (a respected new age artist in his own right.) "Hearing You Now" features piano/flute lines that rotate back and forth, and an ear-catching mix of both electronic & acoustic drumming. "Monsoon's Dance" gives us one of Karunesh's most memorable melodies, played with a gorgeous blend of piano, Indian violin, and synth/percussion backing. "Mount Kailash" has a deeply-spiritual feel, and is highlighted by another guest spot from Govi (this time playing what sounds like an acoustic guitar run through a digital delay effect...quite a beguiling sound, actually!) "Sunrise at the Ganges" is basically a sitar/flute duet set over a backdrop of synth chords and Indian-style drumming. "Zensual" takes on a darker, electronic tone, with some mysterious "reed"-like synth soloing, layers of keyboard ambience, and a sensual rhythmic groove. "And the Grass Grows by Itself" adds some contrast to the pevious track, based mainly around acoustic sounds and a fun, hopeful melody. This track also features the hum of a Tibetan singing bowl (an unusal sound that I have come to like.) Lastly, "Ancient Voices", the only track with no noticable percussion line, is made up almost entirely of sitar and woodwind sounds, and serves to end the album on a peaceful, contemplative note. All in all, this is an album (and artist) that should not be missed if you are a fan of new age music. I will have to agree with what another reviewer said about Amazon's soundclips, though. The brief clips here are all of the opening moments of these songs, before the main themes really kick in - so the CD really does need to be heard in its full context to be truly appreciated. Also, speaking of other reviews, I think it is quite remarkable that of the six customer reviews that have been posted of this CD thus far, EVERY single one has given it a perfect 5 stars!...Amen!
Call of the Mystic~Karunesh.......2005-07-10
Even though this is my first experience with Karunesh, this album was exactly what I expected,...and I enjoyed the different selection of instruments used to evoke a light, whimsical, and meditative feeling of calm. Recommended for light meditation, yoga practice, or massage therapy.

Ketelbey must have influenced the great film soundtrack composers .......2006-09-02
I can see how this music might have been used as accompaniment to a showing of the silent film "Thief of Baghdad", or "The Sheik", or any one of those swashbucklers. Not that the exotic was all that Ketelbey indulged in, as this CD will reveal. I recommend it highly. And for those interested in historical recordings, try the 1921 Peerless Orchestra recording of "Monastery Garden", which is part of the Library of Congress archive and which is available to listen to or to download for free as a .wav file at [...]. This is the website for Birmingham, England, the composer's birthplace.

This music helped me to be totally relaxe and completely entertained.
Of particular interest for me was "Wedgewood Blue" and "Meditation", both performed beautifully.
I highly recommend this imported German CD and add that, due to the rarity of some of the tracks, it is a good idea to not delay.

An excellent piece of work. Go buy it NOW!!!!!.......2004-11-26
I was introduced to Ketelbey's work by the late Guillermo Figueroa of the famous Figueroa Family group from Puerto Rico. In the few couple of years I worked assisting him, then the conductor for a Youth Chamber Music Orchestra, Don Guillermo helped me rediscover good classical and contemporary music, and introduced me to some great works like the one in review. The recordings are old school but the music is haunting, timeless and beautiful. I highly recommend this cd, and like Don Guillermo told me about 10 years ago: "Give it a chance, you don't have to be a great musician to appreciate great music"
How right was He!
I listened to Ketelbey's music as a child.......1999-02-22
These songs are emblazoned on my soul ever since my mother (now 82) played them for my sister and I. Each every cut (on her 33rpm album now unplayable for years of listening) left mystical moments and cherished memories for us all. Would love to be able to purchase 2 more copies if the label re-released "In a Persian Market, etc./Faris, London Proms". Anyone looking for a treasury of magical soul-lifting music should be sure to purchase this classic.

Album Description
Susan Lincoln's beautifully crafted vocal performance of Hildegard Von Bingen's Songs devoted to the Sacred Feminine, is the embodiment of Heartfelt love and divine inspiration. The sacred music of Hildegard Von Bingen, carried on the wings of Susan's angelic voice, will take you on an emotional journey relaxing and inspiring you as it moves through your body awakening the divine spirit within.
Hildegard Von Bingen, a 12th century abbess, mystic and healer, was one of the Earth's most evolved and visionary individuals. She is also the first composer whose biography is known. Living in a time when few women were accorded respect, Hildegard composed 77 songs, including an "opera" or morality play set to music, which was far ahead of its time.

Album Description
An East/West caravan of interwoven melodies and exotic rhythms carries the timeless and ecstatic words of the Mystic poets, Rumi, Lalla, Ghalib, and the artist's namesake, 15th century Hindu poetess, Mirabai. In the company of world-class musicians, including Glen Velez, Steve Gorn, Eddie Daniels, and Bruce Dunlap; Mirabai's compositions are unique, yet familiar, blending the complexity of Western harmony with the lean melodic and rhythmic beauty of the Indian and Middle Eastern traditions.
Customer Reviews:
I have had quiet ears running down my cheeks on my way to.......2004-05-05
work listening to "this we are now". What a wonderful feeling this is. Melt down and openning of the heart.
A dear friend taught us this song on our pilgrimage in the Sahara desert but listening to it in all its glory with the womens' multilayered voices, strong and ecstatic, brought tears to my eyes. I do not exaggerate, I was ready to die that moment. It was perfect.
All the songs are truly inspired and I'd like to meet the creator of such emotions. Thank you Mirabai!
Stirring songs of Rumi.......2004-01-07
I recieved this CD as a gift and I have given it as a gift to several friends....all of whom have thanked me repeatedly. I am always inspired and uplifted when I listen to this CD. Mirabai's voice has a quality of depth and heart that I haven't heard in a while. Usually I am disappointed when I have heard people singing the words of Rumi...not so here..."This Love" truly captures the quality of the Sufi master in a very stunning combination of eastern music with elements of folk and jazz. I highly recommend it.
Gypsy Jazz.......2003-05-27
I have loved being awakened by Mirabai's music. With just the right mix of world music, jazz and folk, this CD has all the ingredients to make me dance, soothe my heart, and inspire my spirit. Mirabai has a unique and stirring voice, and her musical settings of some of the world's most beautiful mystical poetry deepen and enhance this poetry like no others I have heard. Many of my friends have thanked me for gifting them with this exciting and healing music. I whole-heartedly encourage people to listen to this CD.
Powerful, soulful music.......2002-08-27
This inspired and beautiful CD has a mesmerizing and trascendent quality, consistent with Rumi's writings. There is an immediacy to Mirabai's singing that is both palpable and stirring. She digs way down deep to draw out what she does. I find myself playing it over and over, hearing new elements each time in her delivery and in the jazzy, percussive music played by outstanding artists.
A Divine Note.......2002-08-04
If I want to start my day on a divine note, I cue up Santa Fe singer Mirabai's This Love.
Her renditions of the mystic poets tune me up and propell me between the crack of the daily and into the territory of Rumi,Ghalib, Lalla, and Mirabai, this singer's namesake. Her musical lineage, trained in both eastern and western tradtition, brings us the intimacy of a jazz club, the mystery of inside the tend, and the professionalism of the large stage, creating a genre all her own.
This music is in the key of awe and can serve as background or foreground, if you flow with the sound or listen to the words.

From the land of the rising MeloDeath.......2007-07-28
Mystic your Heart is the follow up of BSC's awsome debut album: Silence of Northern Hell. This record is, in my opinion, superior to Silence(see my review of Silence for more info on that album) but also quite different. Mostly by introducing a more electronic vibe (without overdoing it) rather than the more gothic/organ sounding keybord of their first LP while keeping the MeloDeath structure intact. Another big difference is the production value. Dispite the recording sounding a little "boxed in" compared to other metal album, everything sounds far superior to their first effort. It was co-produced in Finland and it shows. The songs are a bit on the short side for a metal band but the good side of this is that you never get tired of listening to them. The songs stucture (there's only one really) is also quite simple and is repeated throughout the album. So progressive metal lovers should not pick this up. The strong points of the LP are the speed and the melodies. There are no fillers, you like one song, you like them all. That may point out a lack of originality but it works for me. OK, there's maybe one weaker track (No.9 to be specific). Also pointing out, their are no emo-like clean vocals (unlike their following album, Idolator, on which they totaly went the Metalcore/Emo way (much like what In Flames have been doing these past few years)and guess what? it sucks.
So, you like your metal fast, with very strong melodies and screaching vocals then you'll love Mystic your Heart
I know it's quite expensive and Ebay right now doesn't really help for getting this record for cheaper either. But if you get only one taste of BSC's music in your life then let it be this record.

Mystical Intensity.......2007-05-07
Denis Quinn captures the heart in this heavenly music. It is however not so ethereal as grounded in its powerful lyrics in Italian, Greek and Hebrew as well as its heartfelt melodies. It is the second time I have bought this CD for myself. The day I found that my old CD was scratched I went immediately to buy a new one. Songs such as Allah, Halelujah, Elohim instantly life the sprits no matter what the issue. It is one of the most beautiful CD's you'll ever buy.
Asha is the one who puts Enigma and 2002 in the shades..........2003-04-21
From my experience with New Age / Ambient music, I can only say that Asha is the one person who really knows how to make music enter your soul directly. Each of these songs hits you directly in a different part of the soul... Especially during "To My One True Love", which is possibly the best track of them all on Mystic Heart. "Song of the Cross" is not bad either, coming in on a nice second place.
If you love new age music or the likes, or wish to try a new taste of music that makes you feel alive and full of emotions, this is the disc for you. Denis Quinn (Asha)'s Mystic Heart.
