Clipse ran into delays in following up to 2002's Lord Willin' and in their absence their crack rap style has been adopted by the likes of Young Jeezy and Lil' Wayne. However, no one seems to floss as outrageously as Clipse's Pusha T and Malice. Hell Hath No Fury isn't as well-assembled as Lord Willin' or as spontaneous as Clipse's lauded mix-CDs from 2005 but it is coldly efficient in knocking out 12 songs backed with superbly dark and sparse tracks by the Neptunes. It's a tight, tidy package with a flint-hard but not overly seriously street aesthetic. Detractors will rightfully note the amorality of it all, but when Clipse are dropping playful lines about being "in touch with the keys/move over Alicia," you realize that all they're really pushing is style. --Oliver Wang

Album Description

Clipse "Hell Hath No Fury" Clipse are officially back, and time hasn't beaten them down or fattened them up, it's just honed their meticulous craft, broadened their vision and pissed them off. They're better - and angrier- than ever. This album features the singles "Mr. Me Too," featuring Pharrell and "Wamp Wamp (What It Do)," featuring Slum Thug. Hell Hath No Fury strikes a brilliant balance between futurism and nostalgia. It's an album of lyrics-driven hip-hop in the spirit of east coast rap's early '90s heyday, but it's also powered by the noisiest, meanest, most space-age production the Neptunes have ever served up.

5 out of 5 stars Undeniable.......2007-07-29

The Clipse's latest CD, Hell Hath No Fury, is mean, sparse, spare, and above all excellent. Endless disputes with the duo's label, Jive, put this album on the shelf for years. This lead the Virginia-based duo to approach this album with a cold fury that they turn into a completely un-sentimental desire to succeed at all costs.

The music on this album is a strange mix. The Neptune's handle every track on this album. Their production is futuristic. Not Jazze Pha-esque bubbly happy futuristic, but cold, dark, and sparse. Think "ATLiens" Outkast futuristic, but full of synthisizers and bleak percussion.

While their production is very 21st century, lyrically the duo recalls the Mafioso rap of the '90s. They're lyrics transcend the coke trade and deal almost completely with the drug's effect on their lives, economically, materially, and psychologically.

With every coke-slangin' MC in hip-hop, the obvious question is raised, "Did they really sell it?" To those asking this question of this duo I say, "Does it matter?" They are the two best pure lyricists I have ever heard below the Mason Dixon, and easily in the top three in hip-hop today. They are capable of spinning revealing, humerous, self-aware lines completely effortlessly. See the first full track on the album "Momma, I'm So Sorry" ("I philosophize about glocks and keys/n****s call me young black Socrates") and the best track on the album, "Trill"
("Sell Bolivian/Feds in oblivian/b**** Brazillian/purse reptilian/took her from far off island like Gilligan")

The duo change lyrical gears constantly this album. There's vainglory ("Trill"), paranoia ("Nightmares") apology ("Momma I'm So Sorry") and the hollow, extremely guilty spending spree track "Dirty Money".

The sparse, cold production in this album is top notch. Lyrically, the Clipse can run circles around almost anyone in hip-hop. I highly recommend this album to any fan of hip-hop today.

4 out of 5 stars Raw Rap........2007-06-09

This is my first Clipse album, thus, other then the popular singles from the radio, I have no frame of reference for their style of rap. Having said that, this album is simple but raw. Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo (the Neptunes) lay down some simple but crazy and hypnotizing beats; these beats perfectly compliment Malice & Pusha T's style. Malic & Pusha T don't stutter (50-cent), have exceptionally terrible grammar (Kanye West), or talk a lot of slang (every other rapper) .... they succinctly deliver sharp lyrics. I believe them. They are poets.

I have rated this album 4 stars ... if I could give it 4.5 I would. The album is 48 minutes ... 12 trakcs of average length. I wish it had a few more tracks on it. The songs are great, however the album lacks a unifying theme. Not necessarily random ... but not together either. That does not however take away from the complete whole. Very good tunes.

---------- Breakdown ----------

1. We Got it for Cheap (Intro) - 3.5 stars - Great lyrics, great beat, just a terrible hook.
2. Momma I'm so Sorry - 5 stars - Excellent accordion beat ... excellent lyrics ... great song.
3. Mr. Me Too ft. Pharrell - 4.5 stars - You all know a one upper or a "Mr. Me Too" ... hypnotizing beat
4. Wamp Wamp (What it Do) - 4 stars - Not crazy about the beginning of the song, but it gets better. Interesting bag pipe beat
5. Ride Around Shining - 4.5 stars - Nice lyrics, crazy beat! Feels like a Gameboy hook "Ugh! Ugh! Ugh!"
6. Dirty Money - 3.0 stars - Egh, ok.
7. Hello New World ft. Pharrell - 4.5 stars - More serious song ... nice beat ... excellent lyrics.
8. Keys Open Doors - 4.0 stars - Nice. Simple bug interesting beat. Decent lyrics.
9. Ain't Cha - 4.0 stars - Nice change of scene. The "Hmm ..." in the hook gets a little old, but the general xylophone beat is fun and upbeat.
10. Trill - 4.0 stars - The lyrics are just like any other rap song ... but the beat is dungeon and hypnotizing. Excellent song.
11. Chinese New Year - 4.0 stars - Jay-Z feeling beat. Nice song
12. Nightmares - 2.0 stars - Should have been left off the album. Should not have ended on this note!

4 out of 5 stars I'd actually give it 3.5 stars, which is still pretty good.......2007-05-29

Hip-hoppers these days are constantly scavenging for something different. This album is definitely that. But is it good? Yeah, it's pretty good. Pharrell, the pseudo master of beats, solidly executes production on this album. I also like the fact that Clipse don't constantly focus on "keeping it real," which so many underground types seem to constantly whine about.

5 out of 5 stars amazing!.......2007-04-09

first off im not a kid, i just didnt feel like creating an account.

this CD was well worth the 4 year wait. clipse gets darker and more creative on this CD. to me the biggest problam with lord willin(which is an amazing CD, dont get me wrong) was the fact that pharelle was on every other track, to me his voice is good in smaller doses, but by the end of lord willin, i was sick of the mans voice. but with hell hath no fury, he comes in small doses and when he is on the track its not always in that high pitched voice as it was on lord willin. this CD is an amazing release from an amazing band. and if you ever have the chance to see these two live, do it. its an awesome experiance.

5 out of 5 stars Just saw them live last Sat........2007-04-05

I do not own this cd, but I'm buying it. I saw the Clipse live last weekend, and went into the show thinking "well they will play some old stuff that I know" but lemme tell ya, they were playing many tracks from this album and that stuff was great! These guys put on a good show, u oughta see them if u can. But at the very least, buy this album, I know I am!

The 13 tracks of shrieking, strangulated fuzz guitar and heavy riffing found on Pure Rock Fury are as vital as the title demands. Think Led Zeppelin II run through the monolithic speaker-stacks of desert-rock innovators Kyuss. That Pure Rock Fury is an instant heavy-music landmark is certainly due in part to special guests guitarist Scott Weinrich of stoner-rock heavy hitters Spirit Caravan and guitar mystics Sixty Watt Shaman. But when Clutch hit their stride, they clearly don't need any help. Witness the snatches of live performance that culminate in the staggering, frenzied, and shrieking "Spacegrass." Pure Rock Fury elevates Clutch to the stoner-rock elite. --Louis Pattison

5 out of 5 stars Sex, Beer and Pizza: the only things in life as good as Clutch........2006-02-28

Well, not much to say here. Neil (the bad man with a thousand voices) and company do exactly what the title says: they unleash Pure Rock Fury. Clutch is one of those bands where you can't just listen to two or three tunes off the CD; it demands to be played in its entirety while you and your friends are hopefully partying and freaking out because no band you ever heard in your life jams the way Clutch does. A lot different than the classic Transnational Speedway, but it's still Clutch and every tune is a ten out ten. Don't pass this one up. If you're new to Clutch and want to check one CD out before buying a bunch of them, get Tranational Speedway League first. After that you'll grab every other one: trust me. And don't forget to raise a glass of beer to the live version of Spacegrass on here!

5 out of 5 stars pure rock f#@kinfury.......2005-06-11

I've been a huge fan of Clutch for quite a while so my opinion is slightly jaded but .... for the love of Gawwwwd man they ROCK!

Clutch really is a very unique band and although they do revive that 70's hard rock sound it's really and truly something to behold. To me "Pure Rock Fury" is the second coming of Clutch. Their 1st album, "Transnational Speedway" was crunchier and had a big impact on me. The 2nd self-titled was much better, there was a stronger direction and more unique style. The 3rd, "Elephant Riders" was a large departure from the Clutch I knew. Singing, what the hell? It worked and overall "Elephant Riders" is a solid offering but I feel it was a growing pain. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but they didn't seem as surefooted as usual. but...

"Pure Rock Fury" is altogether an entirely different monster, and I do mean monster. The first guitar line kind of sums up the whole album, it's loud, crunchy, precise, and full of energy. "American Sleep" is a solid jam, the musicianship is great as always and Neil seems a bit more solid on the vox.
The second track is definitely the star, a massive assault full hendrix soaked guitar riffs, insane drum fills, tight sure footed bass work, and insane barking vocals full of wit and humor. It's an anthem, really, calling upon those troopers of the CLUTCH army ready to stomp around the pit in their own unique fashion.

From this point the album continues in solid fashion, a bunch of sweet cap'n crunchy hard rock romps, "Open up the Border", "Immortal". Some nice drawn out jams with lots o' rump shaking bass lines, "Red Horse Rainbows" and double geetarr riffage, "Brazenhead". And, of course Clutch always has a couple of those quirky ones, referring to the old red-necked Samuri from "Transnational" on "The Great Outdoors". Along with the head bobbing rap rock funk stew of "Careful with that Mic" which oozes with the groups capability to create music with a kleidoscope of influences. The closer is kind of a two fold punch. "Drink to the Dead" is a nice mid-paced anthem that really gives you the feeling of being in a barroom full inebriated fantasy characters, all swaying back and forth singing about good friends long gone. After that it closes with a live version of the Clutch classic "Spacegrass". If you've ever been to a Clutch show you'd understand why this bonus track is on here. Standing in the crowd awaiting the next song, then you here that bass line you can't help but join in with the rest of the crowd as everyone shouts the lyrics at the top of their lungs.

I can't stress how much I recommend this cd. It's a good time wrapped in plastic. Clutch really do unique Hard rock very well. They are truly an underrated band. They give you the funky head bob with a nice big smile across your face, the solution is so clear.

5 out of 5 stars The title say's it all.......2005-05-29

Being the HUGE Clutch fan that I am it is hard for me to oick a favorite album. This one could be it though. This is a raw, heavy, funky sounding album. Espacially Tim Sult's guitar! My favorite song is "open up the Border" I cannot get enough of the guitar work on that song. Other favorites include; the title track, "Carefull with that mic", "Red Horse Rainbow", "Immortal", and "Drink to the Dead". And the live version of "Spacegrass" is something special! Buy this album. GO SEE CLUTCH LIVE!!!

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding.......2004-04-24

Clutch is one of the only great rock/funk bands around today. I would compare Clutch to RATM, because of their complicated bass lines, outragous guitar riffs, and steady sick drum beats. The vocalist in Clutch is very different then Zach de la roche, which makes Clutch an original band. After "The Elephant Riders" i didnt think Clutch could create anything as great as their former cd, but they pulled it off. Every song has its own unique feel and is great for any music lover. The first 3 tracks are unbelieveable, with very catchy riffs. I also really enjoy the songs "Red Horse Rainbow", "Immortal" and "Drink to the Dead". All of the songs are unique and are great to listen to.

1 out of 5 stars Very disappointing, considering what it could have been.......2007-04-20

Take a look at the running times:

Disc 1: 60 minutes
Disc 2: 50 minutes
Disc 3: 61 minutes
Disc 4: 58 minutes

What gives Silva? There is *MUCH* more John Williams in the silva screen back catalogue by the Prague Philharmonic than what is in this set, and thats not including their entire discs devoted to Star Wars Films, Indiana Jones Trilogy etc. Why isn't Hook "When You're Alone" included on Disc 2? There's room. Why isn't 1941 on Disc 1? There's room. Why isn't Earthquake on Disc 3? There's room. Why isn't Far and Away on disc 4? There's room. Where's the other ten minutes of the Rare Breed suite on disc 3? Why isn't Midway on disc 1? Where are the Land of the Giants, Time Tunnel and Lots In Space tv themes? Etc. Etc. Etc.

C'mon Silva, most of these 4 disc mega boxes released in the past few years are packed to the brim, but not this one, and with new recordings made after this was released (the terminal, munich, geisha, war of the worlds, star wars ep 3, harry potter 3), it only makes sense for a "re-do" in the next couple of years.

Further, with Silva releasing the 100 Greatest Film Themes on six discs in a couple of months, it's only a matter of time before we see the ultimate six disc john williams set.

This isn't a BAD set to own, but it could have been much better and when compared to the Jerry Goldsmith and John Barry sets in this same series, this one is a major letdown.

5 out of 5 stars Always a pleaser.......2007-03-31

I listen to music all day with patients in my dental chair. This one is a winner with everyone. Patients always comment on how they recognize a song. Who doesn't love John Williams? His music transcends time.

5 out of 5 stars JOHN WILLIAMS 40 Years of Film Music.......2007-01-10

This 4 cd pack is an anthology of all John Williams works. From his earlier works "The Poseidon Adventure" and "Jaws" right through "Indiana Jones" and the most recent"Star Wars" prequel movies are included. Williams work in thriller and horror are also included. If you are into soundtracks and love movie music this is an essential buy. The quality of the music is excellent. With ten or more tracks on each cd it's well worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars Movie Music Magic & Memorabilia.......2006-12-13

This four CD set expands on the previously released John Williams Greatest Hits. It's a grand collection of nearly four hours of famous music scores from over forty years. There are many songs never before available in any collection. The short liner notes tell a great tale of musical movie history and include all of his numerous award nominations and wins. Each song (oddly enough) mentions the actors and the director, so fond are John Williams's memories of his work with these people. All of the conductors are mentioned along with specific orchestras, choirs, arrangement and orchestration specialists and even the publishers (contractual, I am sure). The only things missing are his early television scores, such as those for "Lost In Space" (by Johnny Williams back then). But with four discs, one has nothing to complain about and everything to enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars John Williams: 40 Years of Outstanding Film Music.......2006-11-28

I have been a huge fan of John Williams and I have known about his music for years. However, I never actually bought any of his music on CD. I was rather skeptical about purchasing this CD but when it arrived I knew I had made the right choice. The sound quality of the compilation is outstanding. The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra do a great job under the direction of Paul Bateman. The original London Symphony Orchestra CDs of John Williams' Star Wars Trilogy CDs are marginally better but this is still a great CD compilation. If you love ET, Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Harry Potter, you will love this compilation soundtrack. Buy it, listen to these CDs in the car and enjoy every minute of the collection!!!

Captain Beefheart-weirdness and straight-on rock and roll highlight this mostly live album original released in 1975. Best when showcasing his evolving guitar skills and Terry Bozzio's thundering drums, Bongo Fury contains some of Zappa's more enduring songs, such as "Advanced Romance and "Carolina Hardcore Ecstasy." The endless riff and blistering guitar solo of "Muffin Man" is one of the high points of Zappa's onstage career. "Goodnight Austin, Texas, wherever you are!" --Andrew Boscardin

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars two big egos of the music era together.......2007-05-06

It's fun to have a bit more material with the voice of the beloved Captain Beefheart on it.
He and Zappa were childhood friends who in time grew to be more like a tired married couple.
There's a good video out there from the 90's that tells the tale of Zappa giving Beefheart this gig out of the kindness of his heart, the flipside of course is that Beefheart also gave Zappa a vocalist Par excellence.

It's a quirky mix of music and prose, but definitely more on the Zappa side of theatrical composition with electric instruments.

5 out of 5 stars That Prince of Foods, THE MUFFIN..........2007-04-05

This one's a real rarity in the FZ catalog for a number of reasons, the first and most obvious one being the partnership with Donnie Van V...the Captain. More important, however, is the rare hit and miss ratio of two of Zappa's trademark styles, those being comedy and no-nonsense, end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it guitar solos. In many of Franks' releases, one style ultimately wins out over the other...the comedy is top-heavy or it's an afterthought. Not here. This is Zappa's L.A. Pachuco doo-wop humor married to some of the most talented musicians he ever assembled under one roof. In addition to Frank's own fretboard pyrotechnics, we get Denny Walley on slide guitar. Add Napoleon Murphy Brock, George Duke, and Terry Bozzio and you have one of the greatest all-time "stamina" bands. I saw the Berkeley Community Theater leg of the "Bongo Fury" tour...unfortunately, Beefheart never shared the stage with FZ, but he did perform a mighty tasty "Orange Claw Hammer." Zappa tied his hair back into a ponytail and proclaimed "this is SERIOUS music" as he launched into an extended, brutal "Black Napkins." Brock prowled and stomped and roamed the stage like a werewolf under a full moon, honking brilliant solos from his sax. The same power is found on "Bongo Fury." In "Advance Romance," Zappa invites the Armadillo World Headquarters audience to "look what she did to Denny right now," as rips a beautifully aggressive solo, which blends into a firestorm from Zappa himself. In "Muffin Man"...well, what can I say? As impossible and ridiculous as it might be to attempt a "10 best FZ solos of all time" list, if you COULD, there'd have to be room for this one. From the "Mr. Tambourine Man" reference in "Debra Kadabra" to the interspersed weirdness of Captain Beefheart, this is one of the richest, most complex, most rewarding FZ albums of all time. If you are a fan of "Guitar Frank," grab this one.

5 out of 5 stars Zappa & Captain Beefheart dual madness............2007-02-25

Again Zappa produced a jewel with this album by allowing Captain Beefheart - who worked with him on "Hot Rats" in 1969 - to be full of unrestrained irreverence. The live performances are out of this world. I have had the chance to see Zappa twice in Paris in the seventies and Zappa had the audacity at one concert to tell the audience that we all looked liked rats from the stage.... I also saw him four times in the U.S. in the 80's. Zappa was a master conductor on stage. His band members had to keep a close eye on his hand-gestures and body postures at all times. At any moment, he would turn to his band and showed a specific hand-signal to tell them to immediately change the current beat to a "Weather Report" fast-pace beat. The guitar solos on this album are Vintage Zappa. He did not miss a note. I used to describe Zappa as a scientist of Music. He treated Music as if it was constantly evolving. He was never afraid of exploring new sounds and arrangements. That's why he could never be pinned down as a rock, blues, jazz, funk, punk or classical musician. He was all of it and none of it. His music was different because Zappa was unique. "Bongo Fury" allows us again to spend a wonderful moment with a Genius....

5 out of 5 stars "Witch Goddess of Lancaster Blvd!".......2006-08-05

I really, really like Bongo Fury. This is actually the second Zappa album I bought. My older brother bought "Sheik Yerbuti" home the week it was available & we both fell in love with it. Soon after I found myself flipping through the Zappa albums at the local "Record Bar" (remember them?) For some reason the one that caught my eye was "Bongo Fury". Having recently aquired a pair of bongos, I could relate to the title.
The album was one of my favorites from the first listen and I still have it, even though the cd version is what I listen to.
If you are already a Zappa/Beefheart fan then you know about this one- if you have never heard it, I would recommend you get it & immerse yourself in the madness! SAM WAS A BASKET CASE!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Fight Song - Craziest 1:30 minute song out there.......2006-09-09

This album is really well done. Everyone out there should listen to the instrumental Fight Song! It has some really good drum work on the fast parts of the song, and will get you pumped for anything, especially a fight!

5 out of 5 stars Fun ska at its best.......2006-07-20

I love this CD. The Aquabats have a great fun way of playing music and telling silly stories. The CD has a lot of funny songs like The Cat With Two Heads. The entire CD will have you smiling and feeling like dancing.

5 out of 5 stars Easily Their Best.......2006-05-18

Although none of their albums are bad, this is by far the best one. The Fury of the Aquabats is 13 amazing songs that are hilarious and great to sing along to as well as 2 cool instrumental songs and one song im not crazy about (Attacked By Snakes). If you have the slightest liking for ska, funny music or just upbeat, fun music that makes you happy then this would easily be my number one reccommendation for you. All you need to do is pop it in and no matter how you were feeling before... you are guaranteed a smile after the first couple of seconds of Super Rad. It is just impossible to be sad when listening to these guys. My favorite songs are Super Rad, Red Sweater, Captain Hampton..., Story of Nothing, Idiot Box, My Skateboard, Lobster Bucket & Theme Song. This not only their best album but one of the best ska albums as well.

5 out of 5 stars the aquabats will always be top notch.......2006-04-17

It seems like no matter what these guys come up against, they still manage to put on a great live show and release awesome albums.

The Fury Of The Aquabats is probably one of my favorite albums that the band has ever released. Even if these guys aren't on a major record label with tons of funding behind them, they put their heart and soul into the music... which fans can really respect!

If you're ready for some funky up-beat ska music, I'd encourage you to purchase The Fury Of The Aquabats today. You won't be wasting any money by investing in these guys, i promise!

5 out of 5 stars My favorite and most listened to CD to date.......2006-03-15

I haven't listened to many other ska CDs, so I can't judge this compared to others; however it's a really great CD and I listen to it on a daily basis...really infectious. Especially good songs are Red Sweater and Cat With 2 Heads, though basically every song on this CD is worth a listen or 126.

4 out of 5 stars Better than their debut, but I think Dez was better in Coal Chamber.......2007-05-09

I was a big fan of Coal Chamber, so I took interest in DD because I like Dez's vocal style. These guys are much, much heavier than CC, but they are talented. I just don't think they can take the next step to gain the popularity that CC had. Hopefully their new one (coming soon) will take them to the next level. 3.5 stars.

1 out of 5 stars Laughable..........2007-03-24

After the nu-metal ship sunk, Dez got rid of Coal Chamber (another terrible band) and started this awful band to keep the paychecks flowing. In doing this, he's making us think he's a death/black metal fan, but I know that he's nothing more than a run-of-the-mill trend-hopper.

Now to the music, it's lame, watered-down "metal" made for the kids who listen to Trivium, Slipknot, and Korn.

Listen to Kreator's "Enemy of God" for a WAY better metal album from 2005.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome.......2007-01-19

Album Description

Neo-classical rock guitar legend Yngwie J. Malmsteen returns with Rising Force with Unleash The Fury, a guitar shredder's dream album! From the opening riff of "Locked & Loaded" to the 4 instrumental numbers, Malmsteen and Rising Force (Dougie White - Vocals, Patrick Johansson - Drums, Joakim Svalberg - Keyboards), produce an album that excels in every facet of musicianship. Two of the instrumentals ("Fuguetta" and "Paraphrase") are both variations of themes composed by Bach, while "Cherokee Warrior" allows Malmsteen to show off his vocal talents as well.

A former member of Steeler and Alcatrazz, Yngwie J. Malmsteen turned the music world on its heads when his Rising Force album was released in 1984. The album hit #60 on the Billboard charts and earned him a Grammy® nomination. His next album Trilogy would continue to showcase Malmsteen's high standard of excellence, which continues to this day.

Yngwie J. Malmsteen is one of rock's greatest guitar heroes. He continues to be a featured draw in every guitar-oriented magazine on the planet. With a mix of technical playing, appreciation for classical composers, and hard rock edginess, Malmsteen is one of the most respected players around. He performed in the G3 tour in 2003 with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai.

5 out of 5 stars Unleash the Fury - Ingwie Malmsteen.......2007-03-15

Ingwie Malmsteen is one of the best hardrock guitar player.
Phantastic technic and music quality! Me like very.

5 out of 5 stars His best metal CD to date.......2007-03-08

Not one bad song. Not one cheesy ballad. Just pure metal and pure Yngwie.

3 out of 5 stars A surprise (almost) return to form.......2006-11-16

OK I gotta admit, the level of expectation for this album even from long timr devotees such as myself was tiny. And at the time of this albums release (2005) Yngwie had all the profile of an ant on the metal scene radar. But this album ain't half bad. Sure, after the horrific tryptych of Alchemy, War to End All Wars and the abominable Attack! the sound of a surgeon sawing your leg off would probably sound OK, but this album starts to recall the mid to late 90's second purple patch for the Swedish fretboard burner.

The opener Locked and Loaded (rips live by the way) gets down to business with few prissy pretensions and the second tune of Revolution is also a bonafide rocker. In fact this album is a touch like Attack! in that the majority of the songs are straight ahead rockers. Except the quality here is a vast improvement. And Yngwies production job is more in the mid spectrum of the sound range which means not everything is high pitched white noise which is an impression that's stuck in my mind in regards to War to End All Wars.

Other points to consider are the 18 tracks which would normally stunt an album but the feel of this album isn't half bad. It doesn't feel plodding when you listen to it from end to end. A few obligatory instrumentals do help to break things up a little though none of those here really grabbed me. I'd far prefer to the rockin' tune Cracking the Whip than yet another pretentious solo with a latin/muso name like Fuguetta.

Still playing wise the guy still has it and here there is a real sense of passion and urgency on this disc that has been missing from some of his recent albums. And some of the tunes do show some mobility, for example Winds of War (Invasion) which has a start reminiscent of the ballad come rocker Final Curtain from the Fire & Ice album only to swerve into a slow and weighty rocker. A number of other tracks here are also heavied up by being slowed down - not that it works for all the tracks it's tried on but this is something Yngwie has started to do a little more so it's nice to see some belated development from the guy.

Lyric wise this is the same sort of stuff Yngwie always blathers on about. Cold Scandinavian concerts totally in keeping with his history and gothic leanings. Though at least by not dealing much with issues or real life he can't exactly date, though there is some loss of human connectivity with such an approach.

I like this album. Can't give it more than three stars though as it IS a touch naff lyrically in places, slightly overlong and he hasn't gotten fully into stride again but for longtime fans or lapsed fans this is a good buy.

By the way - the enhanced section of this CD isn't much to write home about. Get yourself one of his tutorial videos for greater insight. But at least he's trying to add a little extra value and keep currenty.

And Yngwies band this week - Dougie White on vox here sounding vastly more comfortable and part of the team, Joakim Svalberg (keys) and Patrick Johansson (D).

3 out of 5 stars Really Just More Of The Same.......2006-11-08

I cut my teeth technically as a guitar player on the Rising Force and Marching Out albums so I'll always have respect for Yngwie for giving us those 2 albums. At that time his technical ability and style were novel and us guitarists took note. However, I agree with most of the lukewarm reviews here. Yngwie does recycle the same old diminished runs, harmonic minors runs and scalar patterns over and over and has done so on every album since those 2 aforementioned. It would be refreshing to hear him do some soloing in a major key for instance...I know he can do it...he almost never does though. This style of music needs to have alot of refreshing nuance, tempo changes, and scale variations and arpeggios to be interesting...Yngwie doesnt seem to want to explore new musical areas...he needs too...Having said that this album isnt horrible...its simply just more of the same.

5 out of 5 stars Muy parecido a los discos ochenteros.......2006-08-21

Tambien recomiendo Attack!!! y Concerto with electric guitar in E flat minor

4 out of 5 stars WARNING: MISSING A SONG!!!.......2007-06-17

I bought this CD as well as all the other available Robin Trower two-fers as a cheap way to replace all my old Trower LPs. However I discovered that the song "The Shout" from Victims Of The Fury is missing, apparently sacrificed due to time constraints caused by the double offering. It is one of the best songs on the original album, and I believe it was one of the "single" releases. A glaring omission! If they really had to kill a tune, I would rather have seen "One In A Million" get the axe. Other than that, everything is great! I have always loved VOTF, and slowly but surely the tunes from Caravan have grown on me.

4 out of 5 stars Classic Trower.......2007-01-04

Having two Robin Trower lps on one CD is convenient, however, the song listings do not indicate which selections belongs to which CD. The two lps show two contrasting styles of the gifted power trio that formed Trower's band in his later period.

4 out of 5 stars Not their best......but still a good double.......2006-10-12

This package has the last two albums recorded by the band with the wonderful James Dewar on vocals. The first, Caravan to Midnight I found disappointing. The album represented a change in direction and in my opinion not for the better. Robin Trower admitted to spending more time on musical arrangements than previously and although the guitar work is still excellent, the funkier sound leaves me a bit cold. Victims of the Fury is a welcome return to the more familiar power trio line-up (Rustee Allen played bass on Caravan to Midnight and In City Dreams), and has Robin back to his raw sounding best. I rate this as the band's best since For Earth Below.

5 out of 5 stars Robin Trower at his best!!.......2006-03-22

Robin Trower has a lot of albums, This is one of his best.
A great mixture of rock and soul... well worth the money!!

5 out of 5 stars Amazing!.......2007-06-27

This is an amazing album, of course for an amazing band. All the tracks are perfect, I have nothing really to say badly about this album. I recommend this type of music to people who listen to: Linkin Park, Nirvana, Black Sabbath, Blink-182, Sum 41, etc. Of course I also recommend it for teen rockers.

5 out of 5 stars Soda shop/ jukebox days??? I don't know what you mean!.......2007-05-26

WATF are not doing rockabilly...this ain't Elvis!

How old is the first reviewer??

You don't have to be an "old-timer" glam lover to love this CD, I just happen to be that. I LOVE Bowie (all his stuff but especially the glam) The Sweet, Showwaddywaddy, T Rex/ Marc Bolan. This CD ranks right up there with the great early '70's glam and yet sounds throughly modern!

Where do I start??? I guess my favorites are "Now You Know", which starts off pounding and stomping but yet is infectious.

"Close Your Eyes" was a huge surprise for me. It's a slow song.On the second listening I realized why this song was a favorite. It sounds exactly like The Raspberries, the early '70's power pop band. Another of my long-time favorites. Lead singer Jeremy Lublin's voice is terrific and perfect for the song, but his voice maybe does not reach as high as Raspberry lead singer Eric Carmen's. I am so touched...really it's like hearing a new Raspberries song for me.

My other favorite song (so far--I've only had the CD a couple of days) is "Still Don't Know Your Name"...CLASSIC beautiful danceable glam...I swear I was working on the 'puter listening to it and had to stop to dance. Literally. I can't remember the last time a song made me dance like that..._

To sum up, don't pay any attention to the first reviewer. Listen to the song samples. Of course "Venus" is different than "Infinate Jest". The group is progressing. I am really hoping for huge good things to happen for this band this year.

3 out of 5 stars We Were The Fury..........2007-05-23

Let me start off by saying, if you're expecting to find the same pop-punky fever of Infinite Jest on this record, you're going to be very disappointed. This record could have easily blended in with other jukebox tunes of the soda shop years. Poodle skirts literally come to my mind. Although a few songs obviously don't fit in with that ideal, for the most part this record sounds very antiquated and cabaret-ish. For fans of that kind of music, this record will probably rock your world, but it's just not clicking for me. They're definitely a new We Are The Fury. Highlights of this record for me were Saturday Night and Don't Need A Thing (Tracks 8 & 11), that's about it though. Keeping in mind that my WATF all time favorites are Pretty Boy Fury and Better Off This Way, it's easy to see why this just isn't floating my boat, but you should definitely give it a try if you're a long time fan. (obviously).

4 out of 5 stars Do you want Karate?1?.......2006-11-29

I have held off from buying DevilDrivers music, as I was a fan of the 1st coal chamber album. Frankly I thought the rest of the coal chamber catalog was horrible, there where only a few gems.
At any rate because of the above fact, I have not purchased any DevilDriver till this. I heard the song Unlucky13 and I loved it. I figured I would take a chance and buy this album just for the one song. As it turns out, the WHOLE album is fill with all types of angst, anger everything else good. It doesn't sound anything like coal chamber so don't buy it if you want coal chamber.
This album has enough karate to fill up your entire mouth.

5 out of 5 stars The fury continues.......2006-11-01

I know what you're saying, it's been over a year and now they've released a new edition of the album that you bought a long time ago. Don't worry, the fury just got turned up. 6 bonus tracks: 2 cuts ( Unlucky 13, and Guilty As Sin) from the Fury Of Our Maker's Hand recording sessions, Digging Up The Corpses from the self-titled sessions (also available on the Resident Evil: Apocalypse soundtrack), and 3 killer live tracks (mixed by Andy Sneap). That's pretty much the icing on the cake. Plus, you get a bonus dvd with their 4 music videos. Would be better if it had more to offer, but the dvd is still cool. This is an excellent special edition to hold on to while the band is currently making their third album.
