It is the story about Kundalini, the energy snake coiled at the base of the human spine, and the leading protagonist in the lasting mania for yoga. Actors Sarita Choudry, Willem DaFoe, Dechen Thurman and others narrate this wonderful enchanting tale. The music behind the story makes Chakra an outstanding concoction. Most of the material is atmospherically trippy. Trilok Gurtu provides marvelous percussion on several tracks, with Jah Wobble, Bill Laswell, Cheb i Sabbah and legendary saxophonist Pharoah Sanders.

Laswell and crew drone on the background while different voices tell us the story of Chakra.Except for track 3 and 4 where Sanders cuts loose there is little Laswell style cooking.This is a spoken word cd the music in the background is very low key, slow tempo drones that remain the same on all 7 tracks.Laswell fans have plenty of better choices unless you like people talking.Even if you could remove the talking the music is low energy that goes nowhere its similar to Rasa but lower energy.
