Dina Fanai ("fa-nai," the Italian earth goddess) juggles multiple duties as charity-minded vocalist, workshop conductor, and executive producer of One Vision, a collective of musicians and artists. Her debut Remembering the Vision has already been harvested for the film Henry Hill, and it pulses with spiritual lyrics complemented by cello and a lithe gathering of keyboards, acoustic guitar, and fretless bass. Fanai's voice ranges from ethereal Sarah McLachlan melodiousness to the raw emotional storytelling of Tori Amos. "Surrender" is a nervy lament, followed by the vulnerable, Middle Eastern sinuousness of "Purify." Exemplifying Fanai's capability to musically change gears, "Find a Way" shifts from melancholy to cautiously hopeful, and "Silence Speaks the Night" begins with ringing guitar and a prog rock buildup to a pop-accessible chorus. "Safe in the Wind" upholds the tradition of Led Zeppelin power ballads, but is prettier, with signature flexible key changes. -Stacey Meyn
