5 out of 5 stars one 3rd of the greatest album of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2005-08-18

this is the 1st ever musical geniuses slow collection.it was designed by a scientist who recognized musics power on the mind and harnessed it.this album has been proven to stimulate the same part of the brain that relaxes you.or for you brainy types,it gets your dopamine flowing.then theres the fact that this music is like pure ear sweetness.it will send all your nuerons off to dreamland and you will feel a dramatic physical change.my favorite song on this one is the violin concerto.extremely relaxing and great for the soul.everybody with anything from a cramp to cancer should put this one on.besides all that, its exquisitely beautiful youll fall instantly in love!an abselute tresure and blessing to music and the world!

4 out of 5 stars Music for concentration and focus.......2001-05-14

I first read the research on the positive effects of classical music at 60 beats per minute many years ago. With no commercial options available then, I made my own tape from excerpts of world class recordings I own, largely of Mozart. I rarely tolerate background music while I work because it distracts and diffuses focus. The slow Mozart movements have an astonishingly opposite and positive effect, enhancing concentration and mental clarity. For listening pleasure, I prefer the complete works with all movements, as a prior reviewer noted. However, for calmed focus and concentration, by removing the alternate movements this recording serves that purpose with excellence.

There is sufficient variety to avoid monotony, and while the musicianship will not garner critical acclaim it is competent and acceptable for the purpose of this recording. I enjoy it immensely. It is one of the rare pieces I will play in the background while doing work that requires serious focus.

3 out of 5 stars good news, bad news.......2000-07-23

Good news: contains famous works of Mozart for a very small cost. The music is eloquent and perhaps stimulates the brain with the Mozart effect. It is definitly good to listen while commuting and stuck an a traffic jam.

Bad news: These music are so well known that to many, it feels redundant. These are not world-class performers or conductors, so the music doesn't have a new intereptation or anything out of the ordinary. Also, I tend to like to have the entire three (or four) movements of the song, not just one movement. And practically all of these songs are the slow movement so it gets redundant.

I would recommend this to any beginning listeners but for more experienced listners, try investing in a slightly more expensive but better performed recordings.

Album Description

Featuring worship leader Robin Mark, this eagerly anticipated sequel to the best-selling REVIVAL IN BELFAST was recorded at the St. Patrick's Cathedral in Armagh, Northern Ireland. Hailed as the birthplace of European Christianity, its setting was a perect foundation for an album seeking a rebirth of passion for God in the midst of troubled times. Containing new songs of worship like "Come Heal This Land," "Lord Have Mercy," and "Take Us To The River," it is filled with messages of forgiveness and healing. Robin's remarkable vocals combined with singable Irish melodies make for a refreshing album with a strong message of hope.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Come Heal This Land by Robin Mark.......2007-01-20

Robin Mark is a worship leader in Ireland, his music is very devotional

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful.......2006-03-16

What is a missionary? Many believers define the term as referring to one who, through arduous toil, takes the Gospel to a jungle tribe in a third-world nation. Many fail to see the harvest that could, through perseverance, be brought about in the United States, Great Britain, and mainland Europe. Robin Mark seems to understand this truth. His CD "Come Heal This Land" captures an unquenchable hunger for revival throughout the world--from Western scientists and linguists who claim that reason can save them to impoverished nations that have never before heard the message of salvation.
The second track, "Take Us to the River", aludes to Revelation throughout. "Glory to the Lord Our God" is a beautiful, modern interpretation of Psalm 24. "In the Beauty of Holiness" is one of my favorite songs. I cannot here resist the temptation to type the lyrics to the chorus:
"So I'll pause at Your gates once more
As my heart and my spirit soar
And I'll wish I could love you more
My God and my King."
The other songs, too, are beautiful--particularly the slower tracks. Robin Mark's passion for revival is clear and fervent. I would recommend this edifying album to anyone with a heart for the Lord Jesus Christ.

5 out of 5 stars The Best Worship Music - All Three Albums.......2005-12-05

Since first hearing Robin Marks' music in his first album, I have eagerly awaited his newer albums. Each one has been as good if not better than the previous albums. Wonderful to listen to and to sing along to. Wonderful praise music!

5 out of 5 stars God bless Robin Mark.......2005-05-20

Robin has inspired our family with his music and we thank God for his passion for his saviour and inspiration to write such glorious songs of praise. This CD is exceptional. We loved Revival in Belfast expecially due to Days of Elijah. We love Come Heal this Land even more. "Take us to the River" is wonderful to sing along with and "Ancient Words" really makes us pause and reflect on our focus of the day.
We will never forget the opportunity we had to sing along with Robin in Belfast PEI and to talk with him.

5 out of 5 stars he's done it again.......2005-03-01

Another treasure from Robin Mark, for the glory of our Lord and master. "Lord Have Mercy," and "forever," were also done by Michael W. Smith--and both to sensational effect. Our church does "Forever,"--not often enough. And what can be said of the title track "Come Heal this Land?" It's not just northern Ireland that he means--it's all this fractured world, with all its lost souls toddling towards destruction. That's who wants healing, and Robin Mark can approac our Lord and ask his mercy and be heard--like Michael W. Smith, but with a deeper, more booming barritone. If Roger Whitaker did Christian music--and what wouldn't we give to have him do so--maybe Robin Mark would have an equal. but alas.

5 out of 5 stars we needed more bands like this.....is it too late?.......2007-01-17

one of my fellow reviewers sort of rips these guys, and this cd, as being "dumb fun". well, it may be fun, but it ain't dumb. why do people feel the need to criticize anything that doesn't fit the genre to a "T"? these guys were poli-thrashers (political thrash metalers, for those not in the know). plain and simple. they didn't pretend to be anything else. nor did they need ten minute long tracks to get their point across. appreciate it for what it is: thrash metal with a purpose. not looking to make themselves a million, but to entertain with a message. plain and simple, and effective. they are not Metalicca or Megadeth, but small time rockers who tried something a little different. if you check out the prices of their other releases, i think you may believe they may not be so "dumb" after all. peace.

3 out of 5 stars Good dumb fun..........2005-04-26

Sacred Reich were never brilliant. Some people may try to fool you into thinking that they were some sort of a revolution, but this is hardly the truth. Sacred Reich always did play a somewhat appealing mix of meaty almost-thrash metal that could often entertain me if I was in the right mood. The release "Heal" is no different than the previous albums.

No songs really stand out here, it's the typical "half-mosh" beat done with finesse, skill and fun with some of the typical lyrics that the band hash out on every record. Thankfully, the band haven't changed enough on this release to make me care more or less than I did before. The songs may just make you bang your head...which is the point of metal anyhoo right?

Don't buy this if you are looking for the best metal ever released. This is hardly such...but it's a fun listen if you find it in the used/delete bin with an extra $5 to spare. I don't know how Sacred Reich ever got to be called "legendary" in some circles, but they were a GOOD band in their time.

Pick it up if you find it cheap.

5 out of 5 stars Required Metal.......2004-01-09

Sacred Reich are completely underappreciated and overlooked, but they were one of the elite thrash / metal bands of the 80's and 90's. Heal is a fantastic album with everything you could want from a band. The riffs are cool, the lyrics are always up to par and the production rocks. Plus as an added bonus, Phil can actually sing which is a welcome change from today's junk.

5 out of 5 stars got a music problem? sacred reich will heal it.......2000-08-24

if you are suffering from mainstreamitis, give dr. reich a call and they will heal it. it's a shame that sacred reich broke up, but they paid their dues.

4 out of 5 stars Sacred Reich (What metal is all about).......2000-02-04

Sacred Reich's follow up album from "Independent" Heal is a classic metal album. The power chords hit even harder than before, the starting track hits you with a shockwave of all out metal fury. The power groove rhythms are found through each track along side with the pounding drums and furious lyrics. A must have for any Metal collector.

Soular's new release, Love Crash Heal, been compared to the music of Radiohead, Muse, Spiritualized, U2, and Coldplay. Common themes of the album are love, loss, society, and time; all set to dreamy, elevated melodies. Highlights of the album are "So, This is the Way it Feels", a bitter song of irony; "Once In Awhile", a gorgeous piano-driven love song; "Tomorrow Never Comes", a wide-open epic; and "Faking A Gun", a song about destiny that is reminiscent of Iggy Pop. The album's other songs are equally engaging, each with its own message and unforgettable atmosphere. Whether you are listening to their albums or rocking out at a live show, Soular is not to be missed.

This album twists up the newest form of every form of rock you have ever known. John Congleton is a renissance man(if you will) of music. And how Weaver and Dalton mesh with him is astounding. When you listen to their album, you forget what the rules of music are, because they break so many of them like making disharmonic notes with one hand that sounds like the best music you have ever heard. For how far behind America is in producing sensory-stimulating music, from beginning to end, this is one of the top 5 albums for anvant gardes!

One of my favorite local bands, and an overall favorite aswell, I suppose I'm a bit partial. The elements of this CD (namely experimental metal, jazz, and downright creepy stuff) make for a wholly satisfying and entertaining album. Live, thier even better. I think this one is better than Hide the Kitchen Knives because of it's lack of continuity, and general wierdness. HTKK is wierd, but much more pulled together and easier to listen too, which I don't really enjoy as much.

The Paper Chase have every intention
to discombombulate your body and mind, assaulting you from all angles with ingenuity
and sonic dissonance. What the Refused are to Punk, what Mr. Bungle are to major
label releases, The Paper Chase are to quirky ass indie rock. They accomplish what
bands like Panoply Academy and Joan of Arc always seemed like they were wanting to
do, but could never quite exactly get it together with exact precision. A dark and
psychotic version of Modest Mouse fornicating with ordered noise, if you will. This is
an album that I forsee people sitting down with and analyzing in depth, musically and
thematically. An insane masterpiece of cryptic and rattled vibe. Through the entire fabric of this epic, there is the texture of something common. Four
of the fifteen tracks on the album make up what is listed in the liner notes as four
movements, scattered throughout the text of the rest of album. Beyond that, there are
many elements which tie the entire album together, certain phrases repeated, stylistic
elements blending into one another. Primary songwriter and recording engineer John Congleton is, simply put, a musical
and production genius, backed solidly and creatively by the other two Paper Chase
members, Weaver and Dalton. In addition to the bass/guitar/drums of the three primary
musicians, this recording includes noise scrambling of uncountable samples, assorted
objects (ie: sticks, cookie sheets, a dishpan, papers, knifes, etc.), piano, rhodes, strings,
mellotron, foot stomps, the list goes on and on. Despite the feeling of disarray, everything
is so well put together that it flows perfectly, roaring one second, funky and disjointed the
next, poppy and twisted a few moments later. Rips up your birthday cards and discolors
your skin. A child's music-box stepped on and rewired to play loud destructive rock.
    Yes yes yes.

    5 out of 5 stars "Brilliant!".......2002-02-05

They pull you in and spit you out and the next thing you know your mind is whirling and you're dazedly making your way over to buy their CD near the door where you just happen across your friend wearing the same delighted and suprised expression with his fist around cash he's presently handing over at the CD stand/table and the guy standing next to you is gesturing wildly and screaming Jehu! Jehu! at you. Chase Boys, Chicago now knows you're name!

5 out of 5 stars My Favorite of ALL Time Metal album........2007-05-07

Dark Angel's Time Does Not Heal is one of the heaviest and intricate thrash metal albums ever- too bad its out of print in USA. If you can get it at a reasonable price- less than 20.00, buy it! I just re-added it to my collection and can't stop listening to it.

5 out of 5 stars great album but beware.......2007-03-15

don't buy this from seller ships_first_class_daily, it will take forever to reach you and if you give him a bad rating he will harass and threaten you to remove it. Great customer service indeed. Excellent cd. dark Angel was always like a freight train, but the lyrics on this cd are awesome! Some great riffs (as usual) with better production than the previous cd (Leave Scars). was their swan song and a damn good one..

    4 out of 5 stars Riffs.......2006-03-12

Lotsa people call this the ultimate prog-thrash album, and they're kinda right, kinda wrong. I don't think that it's the ultimate in terms of quality, but it has got the most riffs and the longest songs, so that goes for a lot. This album has one major flaw: Lousy vox. They just don't fit the music very well with too much vibratto, and the vocal lines aren't well written either. Shoulda just got another snarler like the dude on 'Darkness Descends'. And no, this album isn't as good as that one, but it's still pretty damn good, and is definitely quite overlooked.

Musicianship is top-notch, as you would imagine. The legendary Gene Hoglan is on display here, and while he certainly isn't at the top of his game he's still pretty great. This has also got some relatively top-notch production for a thrash album. Lots of clarity but still heavy enough. The leadwork is acceptable, but it doesn't really standout too much. Dark Angel isn't about leads, however, just the unending thrash assault, and that's what this album has got.

Honestly, the tracks here are a little bit samey-sounding, even for a thrash album, so we don't have as many standouts as you might like. Still, it sounds good when you're listening to it. I particularly like 'A Subtle Induction'. Definitely the most unhinged thing here, and with very amusing joke lyrics. Probably the single best part of the album is the intro to 'Psychosexuality'. That's just the most awesome, epic, eastern-tinged little thing you've ever heard. It's totally got a Nile feel to it. That overall is just one of the best tracks, some of the most varied riffing and relatively good vox. 'Act of Contrition' is probably the most immediately memorable song. The best chorus, vocally, and just a bit shorter and more accessible than most of the material. 'An Ancient Inherited Shame' is the longest track at 9:16, but still probably the catchiest thing here other than 'Act of Contrition', with a great gallop to the whole thing and some unintentionally funny vocals/lyrics. (I know this is a serious song and all, but a man repeatedly singing 'I'm not a whore!' equals funny. And it doesn't stop there either.) The album loses a bit of momentum here, with 'Trauma and Catharsis' and 'Sensory Deprivation' being the two weakest tracks on the album, but they certainly aren't bad.

Yeah, a good thrash album. Not a quite a lost masterpiece, but definitely worth getting.

5 out of 5 stars WOW! A Thrash Album Packed With Riffs........2005-08-16

Yes, I can spare 67 Minutes of pure thrash from an underrated band.
What can I say about this classic album, well, Gene Hoglan has to be one of my favourite drummers right now, because he played with death, testament, old mans child and now with strapping young lad, I'd have to say that he did alot better with dark angel (especially in darkness descends), but not only does he play drums, he also plays guitar, nice job gene. Now on to the album.
Awesome Production By Terry Date (Who also produced Overkill, Pantera, Soulfly and Metal Church), and sounds alot better than Leave Scars (while still a good album, but suffered by poor production), the song are pretty lengthy but works well with alot of variation and (you guessed it) alot of riffs which run by intricatcy and time changes. As for The Vocals, Ron Rinehart can freakin sing, unlike Don Doty, he's alot powerful, stronger and...well... he can sing, maybe better than most metal singers out there (except Warrel Dane maybe).

Lets Have A Look track by track for highlights:

    1. Time Does Not Heal: (11/10)A great start that accusticlly builds up into a total thrash mania.
    2. Pains Invention, Madness: (10/10)Similar but better as the ending shows some of the most heaviest riffs ever.
    3. Act Of Contrition: (9/10)A bit slower than the first 2 songs but has some cool lyrics and a great drum intro from gene hoglan.
    4. The New Priesthood: (10/10)A bit faster than the previous track that features a guitar solo from gene hoglan .
    5. Psychosexuality: (9/10)It was boring the first time I heard this one, but it's a grower, still a good track.
    6. An Ancient Inherited Shame: (11/10)The longest of the bunch, and my favourite track, featuring cool riffs, cool lyrics and also the great vocals of ron.
    7. Trauma And Catharsis: (10/10)Starts slow and builds up again into nice dark angel fasion.
    8. Sensory Deprivation: (9/10)More mid-paced packed with more of the best riffs in the middle section.
    9. A Subtle Induction: (11/10)The last song and a little bit more aggressive than the last few tracks which includes great solos from guitar duo Eric & Brett and more awesome riffs at the end of the song, what a great ending to an awesome album.

Sadly this is Dark Angels Last album and the last thrash albums of the early 90's(which grunge, death metal and CRAP nu-metal arrived into the scene, but now metal is stronger than ever), but if you want some pure sweet thrash metal, check this out now. You won't regret it.

In many ways, this is Serenity Records' flagship recording; many of their major artists, including Rob Whitesides-Woo, Shardad Rohani, Max Highstein, and Scott Fitzgerald appear on it, and the label itself says that this CD represents "what Serenity is all about." The first pleasant surprise is that this album lacks the saccharine sweetness that infects most recordings of this nature. Instead, although a mood of quiet calm pervades all of the music here, as one might expect, there is also a great deal of variety. "Full Circle Waltz" (Highstein) is full of running piano scales and interesting interplay between the instruments; Whitesides-Woo contributes both a lullaby ("Cradle Song") and the mythical, monarchial "Coeur de Lion." Rohani, an orchestral conductor as well as composer and arranger, turns in several cinematic pieces, and Scott Fitzgerald's "Celebration" is an evocative piano piece. Depending on what you like to listen to when you want to relax, this may or may not be your cup of tea. However, the music is straightforward and unpretentious, and more adventurous than one might expect. --Genevieve Williams

5 out of 5 stars A Stand-Out Disc for Troubled Times, Quiet Times.......1999-08-28

In CD bins full of various New Age discs and albums to de-stress us, "When It's Time for Letting Go" is the real thing. Part of its effectiveness is the album's ability to be something different at different times, for different needs: in a time of loss, something to be a background to our grief; in times of anxiety, something to calm and ground one; when there's a need to just be quiet, the album can soften the edges of the room, but not intrude. There are dozens of "introspective wannabee" discs out there; this is the Real Thing, from a small company. Highly recommended.

4 out of 5 stars This album rocks!.......2005-07-08

This is one of Jonathan Butler's best albums. I think Marcus Miller plays great bass on this album, which makes several songs really groovy! Heal Our Land is a very good song and you will notice the great bass line Marcus Miller pulls off in that song! Heal Our Land is one of the best songs Jonathan Butler has produced and it stands out completely in comparison with the rest of the songs on this album! This album is uplifting listening to! It's something special about this album that makes you feel good, the songs are very warm and tender with much percussion and soft bass.

However, some songs on this album is kind of too groovy, which makes you tired listening to several times, if they would have changed these songs into something more simple and added a few songs on the album it would have been better, that's why I give this album a 4 star, even though many songs compensate well!

A great plus with this album is that he plays accoustic guitar on the second version of Heal Our Land! That's really sweet because you can choose a relaxing version or a more funky version of this great song!

I have all Jonathan Butler albums and I am a huge fan of him! I will continue buying every record he ever makes...! I think Story Of Life is his best album. To make it simple: Every song where he has a background choir and one or two famous musicians with him is great. The duets are also very good! I think the album Jonathan is among the best albums too, much because Jonny Lang and Dave Koz were part of that album.

5 out of 5 stars Music you can feel through your whole body.......2004-09-24

This cd is awesome...I bought this years ago and I still listen to it....The tracks are all instrumental and really represent the african rhythms that Jonathan grew up with while telling a story of things he felt and saw...His unique way of weaving melodic tunes gives one the feeling that this album was made for all ages....After listening to Jonathan Butler for a while, this album really depicts his unique longing for healing in this world and shows us that music is a language that encompasses all people and culture....Have fun and if you play an instrument, I guarantee you this album is going to influence your style of play....Go Jonathan....
