Because proper breathing is a foundation for all other relaxation techniques, the first techniques are devoted to simple, yet very effective breathing exercises. BALLOON BREATHING is designed to help you become aware of what it feels like to breathe properly, with an unrestricted flow of deep, diaphramatic breaths. BREATH AWARENESS helps deepen your awareness of your breathing process, and is also a wonderfully simple, effective technique for stilling the mind and relaxing the body. AFFIRMATION BREATHING combines deep breathing with simple affirmations to induce deepened states of mental and physical relaxation. ALTERNATE NOSTRIL BREATHING comes from Eastern yogic traditions, and is a wonderful way to open both nostrils for fuller, clearer breathing, and to stimulate other related body systems to facilitate a state of balance and health. RATIO BREATHING relaxes, purifies and energizes the body, with a simple process of inhaling, holding the breath, and exhaling to a rhythmic count.
The breathing processes are followed by a series of 30 spoken affirmations, all related to the benefits of deep relaxation. Most of us in this society have a lot of cultural conditioning that advocates doing over being. Making it OK to simply be quiet, still and relaxed often takes some gentle but consistent "reprogramming". Combined with deep breathing and relaxation, as they are, these affirmations can begin to transform your deeply-held subconscious beliefs, making it for you to "find time" to relax on a regular basis.
The next two processes, SILENT SCREAM and COLOR TRIGGERS, are, in essence, condensed versions of the progressive and color relaxation processes on my original release, RELAXATION/ AFFIRMATION TECHNIQUES. The SILENT SCREAM is a sort of all-in-one tensing and relaxing technique...great for releasing physical and emotional tension in a hurrywhile COLOR TRIGGERS establishes the colors of the rainbow as "triggers", or conditioned responses, to enable you to quickly return to a deep state of relaxation - anytime, anywhere! SENSORY AWARENESS and PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE THOUGHTS both combine imagery with simple mental techniques to help deepen relaxation by drawing your thoughts and awareness into the present moment. BACKPACK LIGHTENING uses playful imagery to create a feeling of lightness and letting go. The final process, IDEAL NATURE SCENE, gives you an opportunity to create a special place of relaxation. The proven body/mind benefits of taking "inner-vacations " such as th! ese are innumerable. I recommend using this CD at least once a day.
