About the Artist
Susan Lincoln, a transformational musician from Austin, Texas, is a inspiring voice teacher, sound healer as well as a vocal artist. A classically trained singer, her passion and studies have led her into sound & vibrational healing. Her eclectic journey through opera, sound and energy healing, creative movement, and mystical chant provides a rich soil for spiritual exploration.
Riding on the creative wave from her new CD, "Mother Heart - Songs of the Sacred Feminine by Hildegard of Bingen", Susan is currently on a European Concert Tour performing songs from CD and leading a Hilde Girls Retreat, "Journey the Heart of Hildegard", in the Rhine Valley of Germany. "Mother Heart" is a beautiful selection of Hildegard Von Bingen's sacred, healing music, carried on the wings of Susan Lincoln's angelic voice. It's a relaxing and inspiring emotional journey, moving through your body awakening the divine spirit within.
In 2001, she released "Openings" - An inspiring song journey from the Old World to the New, in a rich tapestry of mystical openings for heart and spirit. Openings weaves diverse influences from Sufi, African, Celtic, ancient Christian, and a variety of cultural traditions, recorded by Susan and her husband Craig Toungate.
Susan is also the founder of Hilde Girls, Spirit song-circles for women, held throughout the US, using the wisdom and music of Hildegard to strengthen and enrich women's lives. She has led retreats throughout the US and Europe. Susan has been a workshop facilitator and led groups in voice and creative expression for 25 years. She is currently on the faculty of The School of Conscious Healing, Ann Arbor, and The Journey School, New Orleans. Her exuberant spirit, passionate curiosity, deep wisdom, beautiful voice, and open heart make experiences with her irresistible and life enhancing.
HILDE GIRLS & HILDEGARD VON BINGEN Twice a year, Susan offers a 12-week Hilde Girls series in Austin, Texas, which concludes with a healing prayer service for the general public. Due to high demand, this series is now also being offered in Dallas as well. Susan's relationship with Hildegard began in 1981 and exploded in 1999 when she sang Hildegard's songs in the chapel of the Abbey of St. Hildegard in Eibingen, Germany. "It was as if Hildegard herself came into my heart and voice. I was trembling, my knees were buckling, and I had the experience of being sung." Immediately following this profound experience, she returned to the US and began sharing this with other women.
Hildegard Von Bingen, a 12th century abbess, mystic and healer, was one of the Earth's most evolved and visionary individuals. She is also the first composer whose biography is known. Living in a time when few women were accorded respect, Hildegard composed 77 songs, including an "opera" or morality play set to music, which was far ahead of its time.
