Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars K Poetzsch.......2007-07-18

This is without a doubt one of the best CDs I have ever heard - not just the best piano music CDs, one of the best CDs, period. William Watson's playing is ethereal, other-worldly, and extremely memorable. His music is absolutely beautiful beyond description. I would recommend Burnham Woods to anyone.

5 out of 5 stars Unimaginably beautiful!.......2005-07-03

This album is absolutely beautiful from start to finish. William Watson's talent as a pianist is beyond compare. His use of chords, range and difficulty woven together brings forth musical magic that will leave you in awe every time you hear this album. For the piano expert and novice, William Watson's brilliance will leave you breathless. You just have to hear it to believe it. Highly, highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars THE BEST MAN TO COME OUT OF MISSISSIPPI SINCE ELVIS.......2005-03-17

I may be just a little bit bias being a fellow Mississippian, but I believe that William Watson is one of the most talented Composers/Pianist of our age. He becomes one with his piano, giving us a sound that is rarely heard anymore.

5 out of 5 stars A Little Known Classic.......2003-12-26

Burnham Woods is William Watson's second venture into the CD world. His first effort, "Fields" was so-so. This is in a different class and is vastly superior.

Completely solo piano, Watson clearly has an ear for melody. The tunes are both catchy and memorable. Never one to dwell on something too long, his key changes and variations keep the listener enthralled throughout.

Watson demonstrates terrific technique on the piano. Several pieces seem to a non-pianist like me to be very challenging.

Favourite pieces are in abundance. The disc gets off to an impressive start with Peyote Mandolins, but really the first five tracks are all excellent. The highlight must be the title track, Burnham Woods, which is exceptionally catchy and enjoyable to listen to. Another favourite is Nothingness, which is a very beautiful track. Some of the tracks here have a Celtic feel to them.

Independently released in 1999, it's a terrible shame that this CD has gone out of print. Track it down by whatever means you can. The effort will be worth it. This is a very high quality CD with some first-class piano playing to be enjoyed by anyone who likes piano music. I really do hope to hear more music of this quality from the William Watson stable; he is a definite talent and deserves a much wider audience by being signed up by a dedicated label such as Real Music.

I highly recommend this CD. It is excellent from start to finish.

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely stunning........2003-01-12

A vast comparison (as far as genres go), but what Jimi Hendrix was to the guitar, William Watson is to the piano. This masterpiece is a beautiful compilation of composed songs from Watson. Pieces such as "Annica," "Peyote Mandolins," and "Nothingness" will stick in your mind for days, if not weeks, to come. I've yet to listen to this album and *not* feel like I was daydreaming for 51 minutes.

If you're looking for something that's relaxing yet somehow simultaneously invigorating, then this is it.

Highly, *HIGHLY* recommended.
