Spirit of the World

Editorial Reviews

Terry Oldfield is a musician whose fingertips are just short of his aspirations. The flute-playing brother of Mike Oldfield has been churning out New Age meditations for years on the New World label. Driven by marketing as much as music, each of his more than 16 albums has a theme, thinly related to their subjects. Having done Spirit of the Rainforest, of Africa, of Tibet, and of India, he's now decided to toss them all into one pile, Spirit of the World. Oldfield touches down on Aboriginals, Tibetans, Native Americans, and Cambodians. Each one is tangentially related to its area by a musical signpost: didgeridoo on "The Aboriginals," monks chanting on "The Tibetans"--you get the picture. But it's only on "The Greeks" that he arrives at a theme beyond formula, perhaps because he actually lived there for several years. Taken on its own, Spirit of the World is a pleasant, well-produced piece of faux-exotica, but with artists such as Afro Celt Sound System, Baka Beyond, and Robert Rich around, Oldfield is like the tourist who returns from his travels with the funny hat and ugly print shirt. --John Diliberto

Sacred Spirit: Chants and Dances of the Native Americans is an 11-song journey bridging the gap between ancient and contemporary history, tradition and modern instrumentation. While it is impossible to fully realize such scope on a single disc, Sacred Spirit makes the choice to represent all indigenous Americans rather than become mired in the potentially divisive bog of politics and tribal allegiance. All but two melodies are entirely traditional, bringing together flute, drums, and vocals with a cello and keyboard wash. This marriage is most effective on the lovely bowing of "The Cradlesong," and the looping electro-acoustic beauty of "Wishes of Happiness & Prosperity." Elsewhere, synthetic elements are overwhelming, detracting from a song's essence, as with the spongy nervosity of "Elevation." An uneven offering, Sacred Spirit doesn't quite live up to its promise. A better choice is Earthbeat's Tribal Waters. --Paige La Grone

This Cd actually makes my mind wander back in time and wonder what it was like living as and indian. The CD is a must for any music lover!

5 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2007-05-08

I had heard mixed reviews of this CD, but I found it to be amazing.

3 out of 5 stars Very interesting. Worth buying........2007-04-12

There are a few tracks that are really great on this CD. I expected more Native America chanting/singing and less electronic music. That being said, I really like the CD. It does strike a spiritual chord during some of the tracks. There are reviews here that look like they belong in a magazine. I will just say that if you like World Music or New Age music (and they ARE different), I suspect this is a very worthwhile CD to add to your collection.

5 out of 5 stars THE best CD i've bought in a long long time!!!!.......2007-04-09

I was watching one of Youtube's clip of the Grand Canyon's Skywalk that opened up last year on an Indian reservation. The clip has this most beautiful trance-like mellow groove song on it and i HAD to find out what or who it was by. Thanks to the helpful people who posted a reply, i was able to find and obtain this CD. The song on that Youtube clip was called [ Ly-O-Lay Ale Loya (Circle Dance)]. As the title of this comment says, it IS the best CD i've bought in a VERY a long time. In fact i'm listening to it now as i'm writing this.
The combination of Trance, Newage, Lounge and tranquil music is enough to take you away. I wanna say it's like a combination of Deep Forest meets Jam and Spoon meets Enigma. I just can't put it into better words than the other people who has posted the same comments about this CD. I HIGHLY recommend buying this and enjoying it! I just can't seem to get tire of it!

5 out of 5 stars Soothing Native Music.......2007-03-30

I am a fan of infusion between tribal beat and modern music. This collection is wonderful infusion between tribal beat and enchanting vocal blended with modern instrumental sound. If you like Deep Forest you will definitely love this. It is not like Enigma or Magna Canta but it has it's own charm. I am going to buy all Sacred Spirit volumes after hearing this.

Book Description

"Kirtan is the calling, the crying, the reaching across infinite space—and digging into the heart's deepest well—to touch and be touched by the Divine Presence," teaches world music pioneer Jai Uttal. On Kirtan! The Art and Practice of Ecstatic Chant, Jai guides listeners through the practice of Kirtan—singing the many names of God and Goddess—an essential part of Bhakti yoga, or the yoga of devotion. This sacred music form is for all people; there are no experts, nor beginners, and the practice itself is the teacher, guiding us to ourselves. Listeners join Jai Uttal to explore: the power of ancient Sanskrit syllables in chant to invoke the Divine, how to open the voice and learn to love the sound that comes from our bodies, more than two hours of music recorded by Jai Uttal to commune with the Divine through sacred chant, and the path of Bhakti and Kirtan, the journey of surrender, and much more.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars "A Joyful Noise".......2007-05-16

When I heard an interview on NPR with this artist,Jai Uttal, and music from his CD I couldn't get it out of my mind. It is "a joyful noise" that lifts the spirit and energizes. His very personal explanation of Kirtan on Track 2 gives one an understanding of the spiritual basis of the music and even if it is not a path that you might follow you can't help but be swept up in the chanting. I play it in the car on days when I feel stressed and it removes all that chatter in my head and helps me arrive at my destination uplifted and in the present. His interpretation of the ancient chants using non traditional instruments and renditions is appealing and engaging. P.S.It is a 2 disc set so you can have one at home and one in the car!

3 out of 5 stars Not As Ecstatic As I Like To Be.......2007-04-22

Although a double CD set, both disks pose a problem to this reviewer's taste. Each contains a rather lengthy exposition by the artist on the nature of Bhakti (Devotional) Yoga sandwiched in the program. Jai Uttal has a very pleasant speaking voice & the material was helpful, even inspiring--but do you really want to hear it all over again everytime you play either discs? I know I don't. The musical material is engaging, but not particularly special. It is authentic mantra, but without the technical brilliance of many such CDs (see links below). I don't regret buying it--again, BUT it won't become a treasured favorite. I don't think it would turn-on people who weren't mantra fanatics like me or a real fan of the artist--or a devotee of Kirtan.

5 out of 5 stars Devotional music at its sweetest.......2007-03-15

This 2-CD set is one of the best introductions to contemporary kirtan I've come across (and I own many kirtan CDs). Aside from the wonderful spoken section, where Jai Uttal chats informally about what kirtan is, the selection of songs is truly heartwarming. I love both CDs, but find I listen over and over again particularly to the second one for its variety of moods and styles. Jai's voice really cuts deep and brings out the intensity and authenticity of his own devotion to the path of music and the heart.

In addition, the musicianship of everyone featured on this set is superb and adds so much to the listening experience. It is hard not to sing along and feel the blessings flow, even if you are not a singer...and that is exactly the point.

5 out of 5 stars Kirtan: The Art and Practice of Ecstatic Chant by jai Uttal.......2007-03-09

Wonderful kirtan, by a great artist.

5 out of 5 stars How can I express my joy?.......2007-03-06

I was a big fan of Krishna Das and I still am. A couple of weeks ago, for the first time in my life, I heard Jai Uttal's 'Radha Rani ki Jai, Maha Rani ki Jai' - Track # 4 on Disc 2. Like all good music does to my soul, I was so enchanted that I played the same track again and again till I lost count. I wasted no time in getting both the discs and my favorites are as follows:
Disc 1: Track # 3 'Radha Govinda'
Disc 2: Track # 1 'Durga Pahimam', Track # 3 'Jaya Radha', Track # 4 'Radha Rani'
Originally coming from India and being a big proponent of 'Bhakthi Yoga' (Path of devotion and Divine love for God), I can say from the depths of my heart that Jai Uttal sings with such soulful melody and love, it takes my breath away every single time I listen to the tracks mentioned above. It surprises me so much that while I cannot listen to certain types of music even once leave alone repeating my listening experience, the kind of music that Jai Uttal, Krishna Das and others produce, I can listen for a lifetime and experience that joy again and again.

5 out of 5 stars Sound as if I am in church........2007-06-07

Though my title says chicano_punk, I have an apreciation for music also. I have a church choir, and I wish they would just sound like the voices ensembled in this album. I usually listen to this cd when I am doing my college work or I need to meditate, it is very relaxing. The vocals in this album are wonderful, and I have to say that it sounds good. I usually dislike songs that are ensembled with instruments, and choir voices, but this cd surely proved me wrong. As my comment said, it sets the ambience as if I am in church though, when I am listening to this cd. You should here the previews on this cd, and hear the voices that I am talking about. This is a great celtic album, and if you want something that is mind relieving, then you should listen to this cd.

5 out of 5 stars Compensating . . ........2007-01-24

. . . for the "non-listener" who just rated this CD three stars and admitted they hadn't even listened to it! First, why bother reviewing it if you haven't heard it! And drag down the overall score as well! This CD is beautiful by the way and deserves a full five stars. I am purchasing it again as a gift.

5 out of 5 stars Best Celtic CD Ever.......2007-01-18

This is my absolute fav. celtic CD. I have had to buy it three times cause everyone loves it so much it keeps "turning up missing"

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful; peaceful; classic Celtic.......2006-11-28

This was one of the cd's I put with the cd player we gave my mother when she started getting suddenly really sick with cancer, and she played it a lot. I hope, and think it must have had to take her mind off for a while at least. My other 4 sisters and I do some traditional songs, and we sang "Rosa Mystica" (which we first heard on this CD), voices-only, at her funeral Mass -- she had a very close relationship with Mary and the Rosary and there couldn't have been a more fitting song. This is a great traditional Celtic album; haunting but so beautiful. Doesn't sound at all like your typical church music but is very spiritual and would actually work well for meditation of any kind, as well as just being a very beautiful album.

Amazon.com's Best of 2001

Long known as the Five Blind Boys of Alabama, this venerable gospel institution has seen its ranks fluctuate in recent years. Rarely, however, have the soul-stirring harmonies of the group, recording here as a quartet, benefited from such stellar support. Producer John Chelew (best known for John Hiatt's breakthrough Bring the Family) has enlisted guitarists David Lindley and John Hammond, bassist Danny Thompson, drummer Michael Jerome, and harmonica ace Charlie Musselwhite for a set that celebrates the bluesy underpinnings of gospel.

The selection of material mixes the traditional spirituals the group has been performing for more than a half century ("Nobody's Fault but Mine," "Motherless Child") with soulful readings from the more contemporary songbooks of Tom Waits, the Rolling Stones, and Ben Harper. Harper's "Give a Man a Home" receives a majestic vocal from Clarence Fountain, while the album's most audacious cut pairs the lyrics to "Amazing Grace" with the melody from "House of the Rising Sun." --Don McLeese

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic album.......2007-06-13

They just have amazing voices. There are two Tom Waits songs on the album; and while i'm a big fan of Tom Waits, sometimes it's hard to hear how to sing his songs yourself. The Boys bring out their musicality in a way that's accessible for everyone - i can sing those songs in the shower now! ;) Great album!

5 out of 5 stars Blind Boys are Great!.......2007-01-11

I was not really familiar with the Blind Boys until I purchased this CD. I love their old-time blue-zy style and plan to purchase more of their music.

5 out of 5 stars You don't have to be a big gospel fan to enjoy this.......2006-02-11

The Blind Boys reach out here to broaden their base beyond the traditional gospel fan. They start out by covering material by the Rolling Stones (I just wanna see his face from Exile On Main Street), Tom Waits, and others. They add some mainstraem guest stars to further broaden the appeal. There's blues, rock, soul here all blended together expertly.
This won a number of awards and deservedly so. I'm sure there's many people who didn't realize that they can enjoy gospel music until they listened to this.

5 out of 5 stars You'll fall in love with the Blind Boys after listening to this CD.......2005-09-23

If you weren't already in love with the Blind Boys, you will fall in love with them and their music after listening to this CD.

Prior to hearing this, I wasn't a gospel fan, and wasn't really sure what my reaction would be. Since I bought this CD I have purchased about five others by the Blind Boys - and while they're all superb, this one is my favorite.

It's hard to pick favorite songs on this CD, although, "Run on for a Long Time," "Soldier," and "The Last Time" are a few. You'll find a lot of variety here, from uptempo tracks to more solemn and slow songs.

You might also recognize "Way Down in the Hole" as the opening track from HBO's series "The Wire."

Having toured with Elvis Costello, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and Peter Gabriel, the Blind Boys have earned their place in mainstream music culture, but maintain the traditional sounds that appeal to audiences around the world.

5 out of 5 stars Unbelievable.......2004-11-15

I saw the Blind Boys of Alabama for the first time on Austin City Limits, singing "Amazing Grace." I remember being completely drawn in at the harmony and the rendition, as it sounded almost like a chain gang. The beginning cadence sounds a bit like "The House of the Rising Sun," but you forget about that once the vocals start in. The rest of the CD is equally moving. I've read other reviews claiming goosebumbs, tears, etc. -- my sentiments exactly. Bravo.

I heard a new song of their's (equally fabulous) on the radio a few days ago but suppose the CD has not yet been released -- I'm waiting!

Given the multi-million-copy selling success of Sacred Spirit: Chants and Dances of the Native Americans, its follow-up, Sacred Spirit II is bound to have a built-in audience. Like its predecessor, the collection mixes chant and song with dance beats and electronic instrumentation. While tracks such as "Dela Dela" and "Yane-Heja-Hee" meld these elements most effectively, the overall effect of the synthesized sound is heavily over the top and distracting from the gentle melodies and heartfelt cries of Native music at its best. A prime example is the tender and lovely female vocal on "May You Walk in Sunshine," obscured by overly aggressive accompaniment. A more solid and aesthetically pleasing choice for the genre is Prophecy: A Native American Collection, which achieves a finer balance of modern and ancient. --Paige La Grone

A new type of music for the soul. It's wonderful. It's beautiful. It's exciting. And worth listening to. It's Native American chants and dances
done with some of the most amazing music I've ever heard.

The music has a rhythmic beat that's very catchy, but very soothing. I enjoyed it immensely.

We bought this CD while visiting Arizona last summer. We loved it so much that we have purchased this copy through Amazon for a friend as a Christmas Gift. He loves it too! This is a great combination of spiritual, Native music and chants along with "pop" melodies. I normally play inspirational CD's....lots of Native flute music, and meditation CD's but this one (and also Sacred Spirit Vol. 1) I can play when I have guests over and they do not fall asleep!
Love it!

5 out of 5 stars Great music to de-stress.......2007-05-09

My husband and I listen to this cd almost every night before going to sleep. The music is calming and reverent. Great way to end a busy day.

5 out of 5 stars Transportive and restorative.......2007-01-25

This is one of the most beautiful, restorative collections of Celtic music I have ever heard. Haunting, sublime harp, cello, guitar, flute, and soundscapes create an atomosphere of serenity for meditation, prayer, or simply unwinding the mind and emotions. The poetry which originated each selection is included and provides a meditation in itself. Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Beautiful.......2007-01-05

The music included on the "Celtic Meditation Music" CD is so soothing & hauntingly beautiful to me that I've barely listened to anything else for the last week - it's that good!

The liner notes are great as well. They share information about the various rituals, prayers, and poems that are behind each of the songs - it's really quite interesting!

Overall, I would highly recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys the sounds of celtic music, as well as those who are looking for music to relax to - it's absolutely beautiful!

4 out of 5 stars Gentle, contemplative Celtic instrumentals.......2006-10-01

Based on ancient Celtic prayers, the compositions featured on this album were conceived under the premise "If prayers were music, what would they sound like?" The gentle, familiar tunes, rendered on Minogue's sparkling Irish harp and accompanied by other acoustic and electronic instruments, are drawn from the traditional Celtic repertoire and the liner notes pair each song with the text of a prayer, either pagan/nature-based or Christian. This pairing of unrelated prayers with existing melodies is an interesting approach, especially considering that the tracks here are all instrumental, with none of the prayer words actually being spoken or sung. Minogue's earlier albums feature a lot of vocals, both hers and others', sometimes even done hymn-style in rich choral harmonies. So I'm not sure why the texts of the prayers couldn't have been incorporated somehow into this music. But nonetheless, "Celtic Meditation Music" is, like all of Aine Minogue's work that I'm familiar with, deftly orchestrated, supremely relaxing, and full of quiet beauty. This is good music for massage, resting, deep breathing, or just unwinding at the end of a long day. Then guest instrumentalists are cellist Eugene Friesen, whistle player Joanie Madden, clarinetist Tom Hill, string orchestrator Brad Hatfield, concertina player Brid Meany, guitarist Sheldon Mirowitz and electronic soundscape artist Randy Roos. For more Celtic-inspired instrumentals conducive to meditation, try Minogue's other works, and also the following: "Celtic Inspirations" by guitarist William Patterson, the Narada compilation albums "Celtic Treasure: The Legacy of Turlough O'Carolan" and "Celtic Treasure II: The Living Legacy of Turlough O'Carolan," and anything by Kim Robertson and Lisa Lynne, but particularly their early work.

For their third album (the previous release, Blessed, won a 2007 Grammy for Best Traditional World Music Album), the now-world-famous ensemble of brave, passionate survivors, many of whom are living with HIV and AIDS, has crafted another heartbreakingly beautiful and inspiring program. They raise their voices in praise and hope, at peace with what cannot be changed but not remotely resigned about how to deal with it. The set list concentrates predominantly on South African spirituals but also includes pieces composed by Bono/U2 ("One"), Bob Dylan ("Forever Young"), and reggae icons Jimmy Cliff ("Sitting in Limbo"), and Bob Marley ("One Love"). There is even a rendition of "The World in Union", official anthem of 1995 Rugby World Cup in South Africa, which is in turn based upon the "Jupiter" movement of Gustav Holst's The Planets. Some listeners may cavil at the crossover tracks, and Bono, heard live with the choir, certainly isn't shy about claiming his share of the spotlight. But building exclusionary fences around music has, thankfully, always been a colossal waste of time. Of whatever origin, each track is a miracle of fellowship, professed belief, and positive striving, interpreted by soloists and choristers of soul-deep, indestructible genius. --Christina Roden

I love this cd! Very uplifting and energizing.
I've listened to it for months and send it to friends.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful!.......2007-03-25

This recording was one that came recommended by amazon, based on previous purchases. I decided "What the heck" and ordered it. I am so pleased that I did! It's an uplifting wonderful blend of voices. I prefer the traditional songs, the the choir also performs some modern pieces, and adapts those pieces to their own style.

The lush Moroccan Spirit emphasizes music's meditative qualities, but this imaginative mix of traditional and modern also works on a less contemplative level. The Brave--the guy behind Sacred Spirit, Indigo Spirit, and B-Tribe--traveled throughout Morocco over a five-year period with a microphone and a tape recorder, capturing the essence of both the Arab and Berber cultures. He then wove these disparate musical threads into a cohesive multicultural musical fabric using unobtrusive electronic beats and studio programming. There's even a bit of electronic groove on some of the more upbeat tracks. "Jim I Nim" and "La Mamounia" crackle with the vitality of traditional Moroccan dance music, but could easily work at hip world-music-friendly nightclubs. Mellow highlights include the somber "Music for 1001 Nights: Outro" and "Moroccan Soul," which is propelled by soulful women singers. The album's not as challenging as the more radical hybrids using North African music, but Moroccan Spirit is far more than mere background noise. --Tad Hendrickson

2 out of 5 stars Not the best.......2007-04-08

I was hopeing to get a CD with a bit more upbeat, dance type music but it is more slow, and I thought, rather boring. I tried playing it through a couple times (sometimes after the second or third time a CD will grow on me) but this one just didn't hold my interest enough to want to keep it.

5 out of 5 stars A sensual and inspiring experience.......2007-01-19

The lush sounds of Moroccan Spirit arouse imagination, taking the listener throughout Morocco with The Brave during the five years the artist traveled while recording the esential rhythms of different cultures. The resulting ethnical tapestry woven with electronic music is a wonderful background for reading, talking or just entertaining. Although very smooth, it does not take you to a contemplative level as the name suggests, but it is very relaxing and inspiring, even sensual.

4 out of 5 stars At the Gates of North Africa: Surreality.......2006-11-21

"As in Music, so in Life". I got this nifty little saying from the back of the artcover from this album. How many times have you opened the map and your eyes have crossed North Africa and you wonder what it is like in that part of the world. Morocco stands just on the outside of Europe, the edge of modernity. It is a unique country with a diasporum of history, culture and peoples. The overlay of Arabization can be uncovered and at its roots, Morocco is a country of Berbers with their own rich customs and traditions. For this reason this CD is unique in it has allowed the listener to step into the world of Morocco, to hear the traditional music mix with the electronica/melodies of modern instruments.

"The Brave" is the producer of this beautiful arrangement. This artist was the creator of B-Tribe, a successful and enterprising new age octave in its own right. What this lone person do was spend 5 years traversing the length of Morocco from sea to desert and tape traditional songs and dances from the Teureqs, Moors, Arabs, Berbers and French descent people and like a multi-cast arranged a assortment of quality driven 12 tracks.

Many westerners have their doubts of middle eastern music, but Moroccan Spirit is a album that will dispell all your worries and prejudices. It is a pleasing, pleasant listen incorporating the classic sounds of modern instrumentals with age-old traditions of the small kingdom of Morocco. I am very pleased at purchasing this lovely CD.

1 out of 5 stars not what i wanted.......2006-08-19

I was looking for some fairly authentic sounding music, light, airy music appropriate for cafes etc., what i got was someone goofing around on a synthesizer.

Which i guess is fine, but had i listened carefully to the samples,
I would have steered clear.

5 out of 5 stars For Tribal Belly dancers.......2006-08-19

This is a superb CD for tribal belly dance--my teachers use it and I keep hearing cuts from it in the Pacific Northwest at various dance events.

Album Description

Many of the chants and mantras in this album are written by Guru Nanak, the First Guru of the Sikhs who lived from 1469 to 1538. Guru Nanak traveled on foot with his disciple, Mardana, throughout much of India and other countries in Asia. Mardana came from a long lineage of master musicians. Mardana played the rebeck, a simple stringed instrument of Persian origin. Guru Nanak would settle in an area perhaps under a tree, or by a river, and begin to sing with Mardana accompanying him. People would come from miles away attracted by the pure sound current and soon many people would be gathered around them in absolute rapture and love. Guru Nanak's songs have amazing rhythm and poetry, and his message speaks to the Soul.

One of Guru Nanak's most well known gifts to our planet is the sacred composition called Japji. It is recited daily by hundreds of thousands of Sikhs throughout the world today. Japji has forty "pauris" or stanzas. In the words of Yogi Bhajan, " Each pauri addresses different aspects of the relationship between man and God and each has a specific power and gift that comes with it. The particular power of each pauri in Japji lies in the combination of sounds which creates the chemical and magnetic change in and around the being who recites it."

The awareness imparted in these stanzas is simple, practical, and uplifting for anyone on a spiritual path. Japji means meditation of the Soul. It is for all people, as this was Guru Nanak's way.

1 out of 5 stars Very disappointing - Doesn't even rate 1 star.......2006-08-17

The thought that came to mind as I listened to this album was that this is music to which one might suicide or have a drug overdose. Ms. Kaur's voice and instrumentation is monotonous and irritating. If you have tin ears, have had a lobotomy, or are seeking to have one, the voice of Ms. Kaur may give it to you for the price of her album. Ms. Kaur's westernized "inventive melodies and instrumentation" are a definite impediment to any value gained from this sacred composition.

5 out of 5 stars wholeness happens.......2006-07-06

Snatam Kaur's music first enchanted me in a recent couples yoga class. Her delicate sense of melody, her seamless blend of western and eastern instrumentation and composition, and the purity of her voice all merge to offer a rich, luxurious aural context for meditative pleasure on many levels.

Shanti, on its own merits, transports, soothes, and inspires; two of her other CD's offer context. The predecessor Prem (2002) brings a more traditional, more conventional eastern sensitivity; Grace, which followed in 2004, still speaks eloquently and exquisitely, with a slightly more western feel and structure. Shanti evokes, for me, the richest balance. Gently powerful repetition and variation facilitate trance-like consciousness; lyrics in Gurumukhi, the sacred language of the Sikhs, often find complements in brief English phrases. By the time you let the repetitions of "I am in peace/Peace is in me" soak through you in Ong Sohung, you'll feel it truly, deeply, exquisitely. You may even begin to see the world differently.

As the CD ended upon my first listening, I felt moved to say to Snatam Kaur what I said to my beloved partner in our yoga class: "Thank you. Sat nam."

5 out of 5 stars Shanti.......2006-04-07

I recently discovered Snatam Kaur by way of her GRACE album and her music transports me to a finer place. I wanted more, but was apprehensive that the albums would be too similar or not have the type of music I hoped for. Not so in this case. Her SHANTI album is lovely and unique from Grace, and NOT a disappointment! Yipppeee! More beautiful music to sing on my way to work and in the pasture. (OK, I don't know the words on ALL the songs, but she does offer the words on the insert.)

5 out of 5 stars Peace and Tranquility Abound!.......2005-06-03

Shanti is an amazing CD! I first heard it in (surprise, surprise) yoga class and have been absolutely hooked. It is a recording that will permeate your life in a profound and healing way. I listen to it in the car, while practicing yoga and when I simply need peace. Snatam Kaur has a beautiful gift in her voice that comes through in a divine way.

5 out of 5 stars Very calming and relaxing drumming.......2007-05-08

This is a very nice CD when I put it in to play my whole house relaxed and clamed down and just listened very nice. The drumming is fantatsic, but if you do not like native american flutes not a CD for you in some parts of the CD the flutes are very loud. But I really enjoy this CD.

5 out of 5 stars Drum Medicine.......2007-01-12

I really enjoy both CD's Sacred Spirit Drums and Drum Medicine. I live in an area of very little resource for this type of purchase- I was very happy to find what I wanted online- also very glad to be able to listen before I purchased- would not have bought them without that. Service was the best- shipping was also very good.. I will consider this type of purchase again when needed.
