John Williams' lovely and moving score for the sixth Star Wars film brings thirty years of collaborating on George Lucas' beyond-popular intergalactic franchise to a close. (Is this really the end of Star Wars? Can't Lucas and Williams work together on a prequel to these prequels? Let us hope so, and that Jar Jar Binks is nowhere near it.) As this music accompanies the most exciting Star Wars film in many a moon, the soundtrack itself is more fun, more evil, more nasty and bumpy. Many of the heroic, anthemic themes woven throughout Episode Three: Revenge of the Sith will necessarily be familiar to any fan of the series, from the "Imperial March" to the main theme. It's remarkable how stirring the latter can be, no matter how many times you've heard it, and even for those who do not have all their money invested in S.W. memorabilia. There is a lot of new music here, and the lush, extensive range of both Williams and the London Symphony Orchestra is on display, most notably in the menacing, percolating "General Grievous" and the rousing "New Hope" end theme. --Mike McGonigal

5 out of 5 stars Star Wars: A Musical Journey (2005) (V).......2007-06-21

product: Star Wars: A Musical Journey (2005) (V), included as bonus disc in Episode III soundtrack.

The bonus dvd with this soundtrack was the reason I purchased. I enjoy film soundtracks, and science fiction, but this dvd was a real highlight for me. I got the soundtrack cd out of the local library. The cd was missing from the case, but I found this wonderful dvd instead that I went out to purchase later.

With optional segments of dialog from Ian McDiarmid, this film is a stunning visual and musical overview of the full epic story of episodes I-VI of Star Wars. For those of us who felt that eps. IV-VI fell short of our expectations, this film presents them well as parts of the whole story. The Musical Journey also stands as a summary of the entire SW opus for someone who is not familiar with the Star Wars characters and plot. Highly recommended.

Options: no subtitles or other options.

4 out of 5 stars Not one of his bests, but very close.......2007-05-21

The Episode III soundtrack is very good. Not great, but very, very good. You can tell that Williams is getting old, but he still manages to weave together a very memorable score.

My favorite tracks are "Battle of the Heroes," "Anakin's Betrayal," Palpatine's teachings, "Anakin vs. Obi-Wan," and the "Immolation Scene."
The others are very good as well, but these are especially nice. "Battle of the Heroes" is Dual of the Fates for Revenge of the Sith. "Anakin's Betrayal" is a very sad track that is, in my opinion, one of William's most powerful pieces. "Palpatine's Teachings" is really, really neat. It's very dark and moody, a perfect piece for the evil emperor. The only weird thing is the end. "Anakin vs. Obi-Wan" is the action piece that plays during the battles of Anakin and Obi-Wan, and Yoda and the Emperor. Finally, "The Immolation Scene" is another sad piece, even more so than "Anakin's Betrayal."

Although I really like this CD, there are some things that are missing (as usual). First, the whole sequence where the droids are looking for Obi-Wan after he was shot. You see Obi-Wan in his ship with Senator Organa on the Hologram (or whatever it is), and Obi-Wan says that his clones turned on him. That was some pretty awesome music that OF COURSE was left out of the CD. Then there was Dual of the Fates in the movie, but completely absent from the CD. And probably the most annoying was that whole piece of music before Obi-Wan and Anakin fight. It was so touching and sad and I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY LEFT IT OUT! Absolutely amazing. Also, did anyone notice that some little bits were cut out? For example, in Anakin vs. Obi Wan, they cut out about a second or two of choir. What?! What the heck is with that? It's when Anakin is running on the long thing and jumps on the droid on the lava. Also, there was some pretty cool drumming when you see Yoda and the Emperor fighting, and you can see the whole stadium (the big room). There's also drumming in "Enter Lord Vader" that is muted in the soundtrack.

Oh well...if I'm going to collect movie scores, I'm going to have to get used to the fact that in almost all cases there's not going to be every bit of music. I've experienced this in both Pirates of the Caribbean, Jurassic Park I (there was very little left out on this score), and almost everything else. At the moment, I'm just waiting for the 22nd, for the Pirates of the Caribbean 3 soundtrack. It's gonna be amazing.

See Yu

5 out of 5 stars John Williams' finest work.......2007-04-20

There is little more I can say that hasn't already been said about the soundtrack to Episode 3, especially what Amazon contributor Dan Mohr wrote in his review of the soundtrack on 2/2/2006. His review captured almost all the thoughts, feelings, and emotions I had when I first listened to the soundtrack, and was, IMO, the best review of John Williams' greatest masterpiece.

Having said that, I will say that few soundtracks have ever so perfectly captured the underlying emotional currents of their respective movie; in the case of ROTS, the contemporaneous tragedies of Anakin's fall to the Dark Side, the extermination of the Jedi, and the rise of the oppressive Empire. The listener is confronted with the depth and totality of the evil that has beset the entire galaxy to a degree that the film could not reach in only 2 hours.

Bravo, Dan Mohr, and BRAVO John Williams!

5 out of 5 stars A Great Conclusion to the Prequel Trilogy.......2007-04-07

This is a great work of art. I rank it 4th among Star Wars soundtracks after A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and The Phantom Menace. I had a hard deciding which I thought was better, The Phantom Meance or Revenge of the Sith, but I decided that The Phantom Menace lays the foundation for so much that is in this soundtrack and is thus the more masterful work. But that doesn't mean that this score still isn't great. Every piece is a thrill to listen to and pace never lets up. "Battle of the Hereos" is an amazing piece and the rendition of the "Funeral Theme" from Episoded I captures the film's tragety magnificently. Also I do not think John Williams could have portrayed the Jedi's extinction more perfectly than he did in "Anakin's Betrayal". This is without a doubt the best score of 2005 and one of the best of the decade.

2 out of 5 stars Williams is slumming it.......2007-04-01

Williams's score for Revenge of the Sith is almost entirely overbearing, lacking any emotional subtlety. The music is overcomplicated and even a bit confusing, especially in the tracks that correspond to action sequences in the movie. His overuse of choral tracks and vocals is too bombastic and irritating to be listened to without the explosions and laser blasts of the soundtrack to soften them. (Yes, this music is actually softened by the sounds of warfare.) Worst of all, much of the music has simply been lifted from earlier scores. At times his self-imitation was so blatant that I actually wondered whether the editor who had complied this score had made a mistake and I was listening to The Empire Strikes Back or A New Hope. Also suffers from not including the entire score, in some cases cutting out musical segues in obvious and awkward ways.

5 out of 5 stars Masters of Chant Chapt. II:Gregorian.......2007-04-14

I found the soothing harmonies and lush musicianship of the CD quite relaxing. I found it stimulating in a contemplative manner, stirring rich emotions and thoughts. I have bought other CDs by this group, and will buy more--as time goes by.

1 out of 5 stars I would love to listen to it, but ..........2006-11-16

... note the warning (which I didn't spot) that the disc is copy-protected. On the disc cover itself it notes that it cannot be played on a computer -- meaning no ripping the music to your PC (to listen to yourself) or to your MP3 player (to listen to yourself). Which makes its utility almost nil.

If you're only going to listen to this on a CD player, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Otherwise, you're out of luck.

5 out of 5 stars Just beautiful.........2005-10-14

I first heard this music while looking around in a store called Enchantments while in Maine over the summer. I asked the employees what this music was, & they pointed out the Gregorian Masters of Chant CDs. I own the 2nd & 3rd CDs & plan to buy The Dark Side very soon.

To be brief, this CD is amazing! I listen to it all of the time. The singing is just beautiful, & these guys did an awesome job at these songs. My favorite is Babylon, because is sounds eerie, but beautiful, at the same time. Wish You Were Here & Stairway to Heaven sound amazing as well. The whole CD sounds amazing!

I'd recommend this CD, along with the rest of the Gregorian Masters of Chant CDs, to anyone who's looking for some music that would be great to sit & relax to. I have enjoyed their CDs very much, & their CDs definitely earn at LEAST 5 stars! =D *Gives 2 thumbs up*

5 out of 5 stars Stunning..........2005-10-03

The first Gregorian Album i bought. Fromt he first track "Moment of Peace" i fell in love with it. It is so "atmospheric" listening to it in the dead of night transports you to a Church, a feeling of being surrounded by Holistic sounds.

Babylon is also good, givign an eerie sense o the song.

Overall a good album to listen to. It spurred me to buy the other albums as well. =)

4 out of 5 stars Close but not as good as Chapter 1.......2006-02-21

I like this CD. It really fills a gap that has existed between gospel music and jazz. The stylings and solos are good, yet the mixing and post production work is pretty rough for a live album. The vocals are pretty good but may be the weakest link in this CD. A headliner gospel choir and vocalist is needed before a third CD should be considered. While Kirk's friends are nice, I can think of many better singers and gospel artists that I would like to hear him bring together. Perhaps a neat idea for the next CD.

5 out of 5 stars don't let this cd pass you by!!!.......2006-01-31

This is the best album that I have yet to hear. Falling in love with Jesus with Jonathan Butler- This is a Love song that I can hear constanly. It immediately sends me into worship. Every song is perfect

5 out of 5 stars I am feeling a No-Word Praise!.......2005-05-21

Cause let me tell you there are no words for the blessing of this CD a nd the praise song " No-Word Praise." I love JOnathan Butler and he has an awesome worship song in " Falling In Love With Jesus." I just want everyone to pay attention to " No-Word Praise " as well. That song makes you want to shout to the Lord! God Bless brother Kirk.

Can't get enough play out of my DVD version...absolutely the BEST EVER of worship, next to Butler's "The Worship Project". The BGs sound like ONE person so how good is that, huh?! My favs...Jonathan Butler, Tyrone - love that organ-playing! and, well, KIRK is tops, of course!!! NAWWWW . . . EVERYONE on this project were just super wonderful! Got rid of my cable TV and didn't have time to have withdrawal b/c this DVD MORE than made up for it and then some! Good times of drawing me into worshipping my Saviour! Blessings to all who participated!!!

I love it. She has the most beautiful voice. It's a shame that this will not be put into heavy rotation. My favorite song is I believe in love. Absolutely beautiful

5 out of 5 stars Love it !.......2004-09-02

I don't know about anyone else, but I can relate to just about every song on this album. Syleena's voice touches your soul. Good subject matter, and variety... I hope that she continues to make good music and doesn't fall into the trap of creating crap and using her looks to sell it. ;)

5 out of 5 stars The Message.......2004-08-02

Syleena Johnson sends the perfect message about life in this able. She sings about the highs and the lows of life, the happily and not so happily ever afters. Her voice is full of emotions, both love and pain. This ablum is straight from the heart.

4 out of 5 stars I can't get enough!.......2004-03-16

Syleena Johnson has a very beautiful voice and I loved the 1st album more than this one. But I still enjoy listening to this one. My favorite song is "Faithful to you". That song brings so much inspiration to my heart. I also enjoy tracks 5, 6, 10, and 11. I think this cd is worth the purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Yet another underrated artist!.......2004-01-01

This young lady is definately a "sanger". Her voice is very strong and mature. I could not believe that she was only 23 years old singing like she's been around since Betty Wright and Chaka Khan's time.
She puts her soul into her singing and that is definately what many of our artist today are missing. She's not commercial, she's not over-exposed, just underrated. If you are a true R & B soul lover, Syleena should definatley be added to your collection!

5 out of 5 stars Uplifting.......2007-01-12

I had to buy the CD because the casette tape I've owned since 1994 won't play anymore and I don't have any tape players left. This is by far one of the most uplifting set of CD's (tapes) I've ever owned. The music is performed with taste and not over done as some groups tend to do. If I'm having a bad day, these CD's change that instantly. If I'm having a good day, well, you'll have to experience that for yourself. Just imagine fluffy clouds and angels.

5 out of 5 stars very eclectic and fun!!.......2006-02-20

This album, although it's not really an album in its truest sense, is very fun to listen to because you can't help but notice how much fun the band had in recording and arranging this work. First of all, you've got several interesting covers: "Tyrone" from Erica Badu, "Why don't u love me" from Hank Williams (pretty sure it's Hank), "Dream a Little Dream of me," "West End Girls," and "Take my breath away." That right there tells ya that these guys choose to cover all kinds of stuff. And they also like to amuse themselves by throwing in a funny sound bite from "Goose" and "Maverick" at the end of "take my..." Just read the liner notes. Funny stuff.

But really, the album is more beautiful than it is humorous. "Dream a little dream of me" is gorgeous and James with his high tenor falsetto can sing the heck out of this song with soul and passion. I'd say that alot of you, if your looking at this album have heard James sing, so you know what I mean. There's also alot of nice original tracks that don't appear on any other album such as, "I won't cry" and "tonight I wanna celebrate with you." The latter has a drum machine as the percussion which adds alot to this unique song by the Jacket. The former is a nice little love song about missin someone that the Beatles could've written.

As for the originals that have appeared on other albums, "Death is the Easy way," is more up-tempo, and "Bermuda Highway" is excellent; I'd say the best version out there!

This album is fun and accessible, but some recordings are a bit low-fi. I think the album is worth it because it flows together like a real album and it is so diverse. Plus, you really have to hear "west end girls," and "take my breath away." They did an awesome job recording these two songs. Ever heard a Kentucky boy pull off a pseudo-British accent? Hilarious! I'd say if you like MMJ I think you'll really like this...especially if you liked either "At Dawn" or "The Tennesee fire."

5 out of 5 stars Endless MMJ for the true junkie.......2005-03-22

Some great listening..and some great covers-Tyrone being my favorite. Though being a true 80's product I cannot bypass mentioning that MMJ's cover of West End Girls & Take my Breath Away are unbelievable! Get it and Chapter One...you will be pleased.

3 out of 5 stars 3.5 star follow up for Chapter II of the Wu-Chronicles.......2006-08-02

For starters, this ain't a bad album, just there is so much more Wu-Material from their 2nd go around that could have and should have been on here but wasn't. Just like the Swarm series, Vol. 1 is better than Vol. 2. Unlike the 1st Chronicles, there aren't alot of joints from the solo Wu albums, and not even all the members of teh Wu are on here (no Ghostface, Raekwon, or Cappadonna). You still get some Wu-affiliates (Sunz of Man, Shyheim, Gravediggaz) but also a lot of others on here. With 17 songs, 5 are new so it's not really Chronicles. Of the 17, 2 are classics, 2 are near classics, 3 I skip, 4 or 5 are ok, the other 6 or so are good not great (other than one of them). For Wu fans it's still a ncie album to have just should have been better.

#1 - 7.5 (gangstarr, inspectah deck)

1 out of 5 stars Let down.......2003-07-14

I have to admit that i was very surprise at how let down and bored i was while listining to this terrible disc ! I'll explain why in each song...
1. above the clouds- As a fan of both Guru and inspectah deck, i was quite surprise at how boring and weak this track sounds! The beat is off, hook awfull, and lirycs ? disapointing as hell !
2. re-up- two road featuring shyheim- again a song with the beat tottaly off and the lirycs are just plain awful i mean what was shyheim smoking while recording this song ? Terrible & unfocused
3-hip hop fury- mmm, i mean... I realy can't stand this track! Just mad weak !
4-cot's like come on thru-zzzzz BORING !!!!Not even worth mention, just terrible and whats up with all the weak beats on this disc ? Wtf !
5- in trouble- I don't know man, shyheim realy let me down on this disc and i thought he could do better but quess not! Again disapointing & weak beats !
6- three amigos ( if it's on)- plain boring with awful beats & horrible lirycs!!
7- n.y.c. everything- (sigh), what an waste of talented on this song! Rza sounds like he is giving all away for the mainstream! Beats-weak,lirycs-terrible and every thing else ? Just a big let down!
8-rumble- What a joke! Im not even going to bother with this bullcrap !
9- dangerous minds- all i will say about this particuler track like all the other ones ? Just a waste of talent to make money! trying to make radiofriendly songs!! Heh!
10-to the rescue- like the rest of the songs weak beats and rhymes are terrible!
As you see i didn't finish because i feel it would be a big waste of time !Don't worrie i was mad at the wu after this disapointment but i still got love for them !

3 out of 5 stars no cluez up in this joint.......2003-04-03

first of all, all the joints on this album are on other albums for the most part. If you are a true connaisseur, you'd already have all these songs. Most are just wu -guest spots on other cats joints. Purely $ making album, but if you dont have any of these joints on wax, this here is a decent compilation.

5 out of 5 stars Classic Album No Doubt .......2006-08-28

This is Three 6's second classic album the other is Mystic Stylez deffenitly crunk from the top to bottom or as they say buck music. Hot tracks are in no order: Land Of The Lost, Hit A Motherfu****, Will Blast, Spill My Blood, Late Nite Tip, and Body Parts 2. Three 6 the best in the rap game alive and now.

5 out of 5 stars an unknown classic.......2006-03-10

i have 10 three 6 mafia cd's and chapter 2: world domination is one of the best cds that i own if not the best. There is a bunch of badass songs on this cd like number 20 (anyone out there) number 19 ( n 2 deep) number 3 (will blast) number 6 (prophet posse) number 8 ( i ain't cha friend) and so on. chapter 2: world domination is an insane record so if you like three 6 or rap music in general, buy this cd. personaly, i think this is there second best record (the end flat out takes the cake) ever made. i'm 20 years old and i've been a loyal and dedicated three 6 mafia fan for about a good 5 years and this cd is unbelievable. three 6 mafia straight up get down on this cd like no other, and all this is coming from an average white kid (and m not a wigger) thats listens to everything. three 6 mafia are my favorite group/artists/producers to ever make music. i think three 6 is better than 2 pac and biggie and everyone else, because their music is so original and creative. so i recommend that anyone who appreciates music then you should buy this cd

5 out of 5 stars Sammy Kershaw Music -The Best Ever.......2003-03-12

We enjoy all of Sammys music, so many of his songs relate to everyday life, there is comedy love justice and just plain good music in all of his songs, I have never heard a song of his I dont like, Maxine is one of my favorite songs. Meant to be is my mothers favorite song on this album and then theres vidila, well what can say, there all GREAT. Misty

4 out of 5 stars The rest of Sammy's best at Mercury.......2001-05-30

This second volume of hits contains most of Kershaw's singles between 1995 and 2000. While the first set - covering 1991 to 1995 - was dominated by high-octane top-ten efforts ("Cadillac Style," "She Don't Know She's Beautiful," "Third-Rate Romance" among them), only three recordings on this collection hit that top-ten plateau ("Vidalia," "Meant To Be," "Love Of My Life"). For Kershaw, however, this signifies more a fall from favor at country radio than a decline in quality, as the material on this second collection is just as good.

If Chapter One concentrated on Kershaw the honky-tonker, the eleven-track Chapter Two emphasizes his softer side. "Love Of My Life" - Kershaw's signature hit - led him in the direction of country crooner. While it's a gem - as are other ballads like the Lorrie Morgan duet "Maybe Not Tonight" and the heartbreaker "Matches" - the rowdier numbers like "Me And Maxine" and the non-single "Louisiana Hot Sauce" (added for balance) clearly show that honky-tonkin' is what Kershaw does best.

After leaving Mercury last year, Kershaw signed a duet deal with Lorrie Morgan at RCA. Although Chapter Two isn't quite complete (top forty faves "Fit To Be Tied Down," "If You're Gonna Walk, I'm Gonna Crawl," and the philosophical "One Day Left To Live" were left off), it makes a strong argument - combined with Chapter One - for Kershaw being one of the '90s top male country artists.
