Cured my insomnia.......2007-07-14
I used to rely on drugs on a regular basis to go to sleep and stay asleep. After using this CD for a month I no longer struggle with going to sleep and I can put myself back to sleep if I wake up early, or I just want to relax and sleep in. Now, I usually fall asleep in the first five minutes. Even when I use different CDs, I still use some of the skills taught in this CD, signal breath and clearing my mind. I highly recommend this CD if you have trouble falling or staying asleep.
Other titles I recommend are Listen to the Whisper in your Sleep Guided Meditation and Body Scan: Managing Pain, Illness, & Stress with Guided Mindfulness Meditation.

This is unlike any cd that I have ever listened to. Ms. Shapiro's soothing voice seems to cut through all my anxiety and relax me in a magical way. Ms. Shapiro speaks over a delightful selection of music which collaborates to intensify the hypnotic effect. I would recommend this CD to anyone I know.

Album Description
The soothing voice and music on this CD create a restful oasis in which to relax and fall asleep. The Sleep Easy CD is especially helpful when you are wound up from the stresses of living. Mary and Richard Maddux were inspired to create this CD by reports that many people were using their Ease of Being CD to relax at bedtime. This new CD was designed to be especially conducive to falling asleep and resting deeply.

Delivered what it promised.......2007-06-02
My husband & I were both undergoing a lot of stress that made it very difficult to fall asleep. We didn't want to take medications. I was skeptical of a CD being able to put us to sleep but I was desperate so I ordered this one. From the sample I heard on Amazon, Mary's voice sounded very soothing and the music was soft and soothing as well - not the case with some of the other CDs I sampled. The first night we tried it, we both fell asleep before the music ended. I don't even know if I was paying attention to what Mary actually said because it was her voice, not the words that was so relaxing. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is having difficulty falling asleep, or even if you're just stressed out and need to relax. I think I will probably try some of their other CDs.
Unique and Helpful for Sleep.......2007-01-02
This CD is a different approach to sleep, but one that I found very effective. This goes beyond just a relaxing meditation to a deeper process that allows you to change your unconscious patterns that get in the way of sleep. At first, I didn't notice much, but after listening a few more times, my sleep was deeper and more refreshing. Good alternative if other approaches are not working.
I Fall Asleep Faster, Sleep Quality Improved.......2006-11-18
I am encouraged by how quickly I drifted off to sleep, faster than I usually can. The music is wonderful and soothing, and the voice is gentle and reassuring. I also notice a definite change in the quality of my sleep. It seems deeper and less easily disturbed. On days after using the CD the night before I feel more relaxed and refreshed.

I have used this CD now for about three months. It is not only very pleasant to listen to, it is also very intelligent. Mary suggests that you not 'try' to sleep, but just relax and pay attention to your body and thoughts. As you do this, you slowly relax more and more until you effortlessly slip into sleep.
Now, when I lay down to sleep, I automatically start to scan my body, readjust my position until I feel comfortable, and observe my thoughts. As I do this, I often fall asleep without the CD.
Highly recommended.

Strange Imagery for Sleep.......2007-01-31
I have all 4 CDs in this series and I just find this one odd to try to use for bed time. For me, the imagery starts out fine, floating like a feather, clouds, scan for stress. Then, the journey changes into something almost medical. For me, mentaly examining all the details of my feet, then muscles, tendons, bones, marrow, atoms is not really relaxing bedtime material.
The music is mostly nice except for some human voice inserts that don't seem to fit to me and add a lot of distraction.
This might be a fun trip at a different time of day or if you have different goals, but for me, just not right for bed time.
Perfect For Chronic Insomia.......2006-12-20
I have chronic insomnia, and some nights I have trouble not just falling asleep, but staying asleep. This cd helped me learn how to calm my mind and focus on relaxing enough to drift off - and stay alseep.
Which is not to say that the cd necessarily puts me to sleep. Most nights I find that I start to doze off during the meditation and then wake up briefly when it's over. But then I fall asleep for good. Even on nights when I don't use the CD I find that mentally going through some of the meditations - such as focusing on my breathing and imagining each part of my body relaxing bit by bit from head to toe - helps. Overall I feel that I am getting a better quality of sleep at night by using this cd, and that on nights when I don't use it, the mental exercises in it still help. There are nights when I am so wound up that I'm sure I'll still be wide awake by the end of the cd...but I always drift off by the end.
I fully admit that sometimes the talking bothers me, but overall I enjoy Pakviali's voice and her gentle narration. This is a great cd for anyone who needs help "shutting off" and night and learning how to relax your mind for sleep.
Imagine the protons?.......2006-07-25
COME ON!?! How am I supposed to relax by imagining the protons and neutrons in my cells? It's so hard to find a normal relaxation CD. I'll let you know when I've found one.

I've had the opportunity to listen to all 4 of Pakvilai Sudhaswin's CD's in the Mental Medicine Collection. Each has a unique focus and purpose.
The Sleep Ease CD truly helps me to wind down after a long day and settle in for a great nights rest. Initally, I was worried that I would do something incorrectly and not get the full benefit from the CD. However, the clever step by step guidance allows me to relax and not worry about what to do next, but to be in the moment and to breathe. I have noticed an amazing change with my sleep,in that I sleep more restfully and more relaxed during the night, and I wake up feeling refreshed. I highly recommend this, and any of the 3 other CD's in this collection, for persons who are interested in becoming more calm and relaxed in every day life.
Sleep Ease - The Mental Medicine Collection.......2006-02-21
I've ordered all four of the audio CD's in the series - Sacred Moment, Sleep Ease, Non-Thinking and Quiet Thoughts. Described as " ... to heal and slow down a busy mind'. My reviews of each are similar in their praise and satisfaction. They are 4 terrific guided meditations. I've personally found it difficult to meditate without some assistance and rarely have time to go to a meditation center, many of which have limited sessions. What I was searching for was a guided meditation that could guide my positioning and mental focus and then provide soothing music to sit with. There are two components to each CD, talking with background music and then a period of just music. I've tried other similar CD's but didn't use them for long because, for some reason, I just couldn't get relaxed by the audio portion. That was not the case with these CD's. Pakvilai's gentle soothing voice is so beautiful and relaxing, I never tire of listening to it. The timing (about 30 minutes) on each CD is perfect for the morning before work and before going to bed at night. These CD's will work well for both beginners and experienced meditators. The music background on each CD is different and truly relaxing.
Sleep Ease is all about getting you so relaxed you fall asleep. The introduction is different in that you are instructed to lay on your back. This CD focuses t getting you to relax your entire body. Pakvilai gets you to the point of feeling like you are as light as a feather and floating on a cloud. She slowly guides you to focus on your entire body, part-by-part, from head to toe. I've found this particular CD invaluable on those days when I'm under a lot of stress and can't easily fall asleep or sometimes when waking up in the middle of the night with a monkey mind, I listen to it to put me back to sleep.
Sacred Moment focuses on finding present moment awareness. It starts with basic guidance and flows into a wonderful description on how to bring your focus to the present moment and keep it there when thoughts arise. She guides you to think about each moment as being sacred and how to feel still, calm and free.
Quiet Thoughts focuses on learning how to slow down your thinking. It starts with basic guidance and flows into how to be present with what you are doing and your surroundings and how to quiet your mind and keep it at ease. She guides you on how to relax your entire body. As she speaks, she pauses just long enough for you to digest what's she's said and then moves on.
Non-Thinking focuses on learning the freedom of non-thinking. Pakvilai varies her introduction and guidance enough so that each CD is different and refreshing. In this CD she focuses on your mind and how to follow your thoughts at they arrive and leave, then how to focus on non-thinking - by focusing on breathing, your body feelings and the present moment. She guides you on how to detach from your thoughts during meditation, just by letting your thoughts gently flow in and out of your mind as you observe them arriving and leaving.

I bought this cd along with another, Indigo Dreams, for myself and my son who had just discovered he had a relapse of Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He was devastated since he had been in remission for 3 years. He was going into a stem cell transplant and the really excruciating chemo accompanying that treatment, and neither of us was sleeping through the night. The Indigo Dreams cd was not effective-the positive reinforcement was so far from anything he could realize at the time, it made him weep. This cd, on the other hand, worked for both of us immediately. The first time I listened to the whole cd. Every subsequent time, I have fallen asleep before the message was over. It even works for my Corgi, who rolls over on his back and starts to snooze when he hears the tape begin. I recommended the cd to other people in the hospital who were having sleeping problems, and they, too, found it helped them get to sleep. I would give it 5 stars, but the music does not work for me.

I purchased and tried many many audios of hypnosis and guided meditation for stress reduction. This one is the best. Her voice and manner are perfectly tuned. The repetition is fundamental to the healing hypnotic state. The music is brilliantly effective at supporting the goals of the spoken word. I play is audio by iPOD every night. I credit her positive suggestions to cumulative benefit to my every day effectiveness - the only bottom line.

I have examined the words/text closely and find it to be in harmony with my principles of individual sovereignty and freedom. I like the text and testify that the messages are completely open and true to the interests of the listener alone. The benefits are definitely worth the cost of the CD. It is easy to remain awake, if desired, or to fall asleep quickly and peacefully. At last, here is a voice which can be completely trusted to immediately calm and heal both mind and body.

Less than one year ago, post-heart-surgery anxiety was taking over my life and I was becoming disabled until I found "Just Relax," thank God. Gail Seymour's approach to self-healing through guided meditation and critically positive psychological prompts helped me begin to sleep during the night and regain my calmer self during day. Without pharmaceuticals, I am well on the road to recovery from what my cardiologist called "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder" and I'm thankful everyday for "Just Relax."

My insomnia comes and goes. Stress, caffeine and depression are all factors. I've tried sleeping pills, and all I got were mornings that felt like I'd been drinking booze the night before. Drugs are never an option for me. No thanks. Although the subliminal CDs I've purchased in the past were nice to listen to, they never seemed to help. I ordered Just Relax at the recommendation of a friend who found it beneficial. The instructions in the beginning of the CD are pretty straight forward. I listened to them once, maybe twice. When I played track 2, it took me a few minutes to adjust to hearing someone's voice, but it became a familiar one (like a good friend) very quickly. The next thing I knew, it was morning, and the alarm clock was going off. It works all right. I got a full 8 hours. Just Relax is probably the best CD I've ever used to help me with insomnia. It usually does the trick. Gail Seymour's voice is soft and gently persuasive, suggesting that I relax, and soon I find myself drifting off to sleep. There's soft music in the background, as well as on track 3, which is very easy to listen to night after night. I never seem to tire of it. I highly recommend this CD for anyone with sleep disruptions who wants safe, drug-free rest. I'm really glad I bought it. It's worth every penny.

The next thing I knew, it was morning, and the alarm clock was going off. It works all right. I got a full 8 hours. Just Relax is probably the best CD I've ever used to help me with insomnia. It usually does the trick. Gail Seymour's voice is soft and gently persuasive, suggesting that I relax, and soon I find myself drifting off to sleep. There's soft music in the background, as well as on track 3, which is very easy to listen to night after night. I never seem to tire of it. I highly recommend this CD for anyone with sleep disruptions who wants safe, drug-free rest. I'm really glad I bought it. It's worth every penny.

not bad, but not great.......2006-09-06
this CD is OK for helping me drift off, but I'm not crazy with how it is laid out. The voice is a little off-putting. So it did the trick, but defnitely not my stand by for when I am worried about getting to sleep....I basically just occassionally use it b/c I spent money to get it and want to get something for my investment.

Waste of money.......2004-01-31
I could have recorded my own voice and had my 4 year old play the organ and made a better CD. The woman narrator did not have a low soothing voice, the substance of the spoken visualization was a hokey rendition of "Relax your body . . . go to sleep". This was amateurish and a BIG RIP OFF! I can't even bring myself to sell it to someone else for the embarrassment of it's content.

I tried a meditation cd years ago called something like meditation: a survival guide for the 90's. It was strictly guided, with only ambient background music. It was a great cd but I figured now, 5 years later, I needed a replacement and thought that this would be my ticket.
The good: The music is on par. The fact that the second track is only the music makes this cd half worth your while, and it lasts long enough to fall asleep to. My only complaint about it is that it has intermittant musical sounds. The kind that once you get into the flow of the music, seem to jump out at you. It is not a flowing peacefull music but it does give you something to think about besides your hectic day.
The bad: The first track is the "guided meditation". I think the intentions for this were really good, but failed in the areas of voice, repetition, and flow. A good meditation cd should not start off telling you the best ways to prep for sleep. Such as, your feet should be elevated and you should have cleen sheets. I don't need to hear things like this at the end of the day. It is relatively usefull advice, but it should have been an intro track at least. The woman's voice sounds like a 45 year old woman trying to sound youthfull in a raspy sort of whisper. You might find this relaxing but I found it hard to concentrate on what she was saying because of it. Finally, repetition and flow. Repeating the words up, up, up, to your cloud is alright, telling me almost everything to think about in a word trio ... Flow is my last complaint. After you get to your cloud then you are told to focus on your day, then back to your cloud and back to your bed from where you started. This was not an isolated incident.
I hope this clarifies. I recommend the cd I started with. He had a better conception of the "ideal meditation".
