My long prized cd's........2005-12-30

Glacier Bay was my first cd bought from the Nature Co. and I anxiously awaited Dennis Hysom to come out with more like it. I purchased Bayou, Cloud Forest, Caribbean & Badlands and was sorry to see the Nature Co. go. When I was sailing a cruise ship from Hawaii with a skeleton crew from Louisiana I happened to put in Bayou while on the bridge. Over the next few days more & more company rep's would show up to hear Bayou played at least once a night for over a 2 week period. It was a kick listening to them trying to guess the sounds of the animals in each track. I highly recommend these cd's to any & everyone!

My most valued CD.......2005-04-02

I bought the series of LAST GOOD PLACE on Earth when I visited the United States in 1993 from the Nature company. I brought them back to Malaysia and listen to them to remember the good places that I visited for years. When my family moved to the United States in 2000, Glacier Bay, Bayou, the Caribbean and Cloud Forest are the very few precious CDs that I have taken with me.

I received this CD as a gift back when The Nature Company was not owned by Discovery Channel (don't get me started on that topic...) and loved it dearly! I listened to it while biking, running, relaxing - it is great for every mood, but as the others have stated, it is perfect for just taking it easy. It actually inspired me to visit Glacier Bay, Alaska which is an amazing place. This CD does it a great deal of justice, which is hard to imagine if you have been to Glacier Bay but have not heard this CD.
When I moved, this CD got lost. At that point, The Nature Company was no longer and I went without this CD for seven years, but thought about it (and actually looked for it in my house, my sisters' houses, etc.) repeatedly. Finally I broke down and bought it again and to my delight, it is still the wonderful music I heard over seven years ago.

Made me so homesick for Alaska.......2001-12-21

I lived in Alaska for 16 years, and this album brought tears to my eyes. The other reviewers are right, not only is this an artful arrangement of utterly beautiful natural sound, the music is painfully beautiful too. This is not one of those budget CD's you find in the New Age oddball sections of the store, "music to relax to," blah blah. This is beautiful music woven through sounds of Alaska so touching and perfect I could close my eyes and feel the rain fall in Chugach State Park.

When Nature and Music become One!.......2001-12-14

Glacier Bay was my first taste of Mr. Hysom's excellent talent. His music and the interwoven sounds of some of the last great natural places on this planet are fully developed, tapestried works of art that together transcend either alone. This music is truly artistic talent at its best.

The Nature Company originally carried his works, but has long since stopped. It's a shame because any other "mood" or "nature" music will seem very plain and contrived to anybody after an evening at Glacier Bay.

For quite a while his music was difficult to find, though Dennis himself on several occasions (via email) directed me to various small outfits that still carried him. It is great to see Amazon now carries some of his works. Hopefully they will pick of the rest of his work.

These works are real treasures, truly musical masterpieces. If you're a classical fan, I enthusiastically place Dennis Hysom's works every bit as novel to our ages as Beethoven, Mozart, or Brahms was of past generations. If you love the New Age, this will be some of the best you've heard. And if you just love nature, nothing I've ever heard has been better.

I do not give praise lightly; I've played musical instruments in symphonies for years myself. Dennis Hysom had a truly inspirational talent in putting these pieces together. Buy Glacier Bay and listen to the world speak its voice. I guarantee you you'll love it!

I'm always surprised when people remark to me that Alaska seems remote and exotic. Less than a 4 hour flight from San Francisco, there lies a vast area extending west from Juneau - one of the most breathtaking expanses of landscape in the United States.
