Wim Mertens' style of minimalism is dense with passion and emotion more so than any other minimalist composer I have heard. This is especially true of this release in particular which in my opinion his best. If you have heard Steve Reich and Philip Glass you must check out this recording. If you are new to minimalism this is a treasure. Wim Mertens' choice of instruments; violin, cello, double bass, piccolo, flute, electric piano, soprano saxophone, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, horn, bass trombone, bass tuba, female voice, guitar and piano. Together the sound is very earthy and human. Each instrument is like a character in a play as they sound off their individual themes and in the end it all comes together in one joyful celebration of triumph and harmony. Inspiring, joyful music.

This double CD is among few best Wim Mertens' works which include Maximizing The Audience,Jardin Clause and his "piano and voice" albums like A Man Of No Fortune...,Jeremiades,Der Heise Brei,Strategie De La Rupture,Epic That Never Was.Highly recommended!
