I find this chant to be so deeply moving. It takes me to a higher level in my devotions and worship. The beautiful melody, the subtle insertions of a clear, high soprano, the sounds of a guitar, the blending melodies of alto and tenor voices work a magical change in your mind and engage the soul and you find yourself "there"--in the Presence of Divine.

The "om nama shivaya" chant is great, but there is a flute solo intertwined with it that sounds like a jazz piece -- and is totally disruptive for me, completely breaks the meditative mood. I don't know why Gass added it. A pity, since so many of his other albums are great for meditation.

This album is an extraordinary companion for meditation, yoga, reflection, relaxation - in short, for bliss. It's repetition of this ancient and timeless chant provides a musical context for working with your own consciousness. When I listen to it, I feel held - and so, I believe, will you.

Maybe music isn't the best word to describe this series of CD'S. Although it is musical, it has an otherworldly quality to it that takes you quickly to a meditative state. This is particularly the case when using headphones or ear buds or if the speakers are turned up a bit. It's not really just easy listening New Age music. Some music can help you to relax, but this music helps you meditate. I have three of the albums in this series and like them all.Just don't drive while playing them! :-)

    On the CD cover, it says that "the five syllables - Na Mah Shi Va Ya embody the five elements that we and everything in our cosmos is composed of - earth, water, fire air and space. Continuous repetition of this mantra purifies all the elements in us and in the cosmos". I listen to a track from Soul Mantra every morning and then the song just reverberates in my head all day long. It keeps my soul purified!

    Chandrika's moving voice magically transports the words deep into your soul. It's amazing.

    Astounding vocalizations by this woman! I am in awe and humbled by her command of the songs and also of the spirituality she exudes with each song.
