About the Artist
Sound And Noise Dictated By Ongoing eXperimentation - one of the mantras used by sandbox trio - described perfectly the inspiration and intent of the group. Brought together in 1992 by the common desire to explore new possibilities of music- making, the band's three members - Martin Birke, Chuck Ehlis, and Daniel Panasenko - initially used traditional instruments but quickly incorporated new ones designed and built by Ehlis. The group went on to perform and record for the next eight years until Chuck's death in January 2000. After three CDs and two film scores, the band made its final appearance during their 1998 tour of Germany. The final studio recordings of the band were released in Spring 2004 on the Frank Mark Arts label.

It's all good........2007-07-04

Bright and gemlike, this album has no soft spot. Remember back in the old days when you could listen to an album without skipping tracks?
Urubamba is the group responsible for the instrumentation on Simon and Garfunkel's 'El Condor Pasa'. The musicianship, melodies, and mood make other groups of the genre seem unbalanced: this is the real deal.
Our family had the LP of this album, and we've been missing it for years. Odds are good you'll enjoy it too.

Like a startling revelation the "Trio's" final studio recording delivers on the promise made in earlier recordings. Once buttonholed (which happens upon first listening) by the reflective and meditative quality of the music you have neither the wish nor the will to tear yourself away. This is experimental music at it's finest.
