Album Description

On this recording, named for an easy-to-recite Buddhist chant that is the essence of the Buddha's heart, Buedi Siebert takes the path of peace to a specific place, as easy to visualize as a clear-air gust of wind high on a mountain in Tibet. Westerners seeking some basic knowledge of Buddhist philosophy will enjoy the simple but informative liner notes that explain the source of this soothing, ambient music that incorporates Siebert's lush, dreamy guitar lines and his mastery of numerous indigenous flutes. There are also soaring vocals by Dorothea Ferber and other chants by male voices. The short version of the title track opens the disc by creating an inviting and soul-lifting Asian atmosphere that is easy to hum along with. Some of the tunes just float sweetly along while others, like "The Lotus People," feature more jangly, percussive beats. On that particular tune, the mantra is reprised with a mix of voice and flute. Siebert lends an even truer air of authenticity with "Lotus Call, Pt. 2," which features authentic chanting Buddhist monks. At the very minimum, the listener will be transported into a very relaxing place. Hopefully, the complexities of the music beneath the basic "Om" will inspire deeper meditation and possibly study into the philosophy that inspired it.

3 out of 5 stars It all sounds the same.......2006-08-21

Many of the tracks are exactly the same and even those that aren't are so similar that there is little variety in these offerings. These recordings are definitely oriental in style and since the tinny, twangy, and hollow sound doesn't really appeal to me, I just am not very excited about this CD. I will most likely be giving it away to someone who might enjoy this sound more.

5 out of 5 stars simply beautiful!!.......2005-10-01

Even though a couple of the tracks are based on the same buddhist mantra (om mani padme hum);the mantra is so beautiful and calming and chanted wonderfully that you don't get bored. All the other tracks including the instrumentals are all great,ALLtogether wonderful for meditation, chanting and just simple lisening!!

5 out of 5 stars Luscious!!!.......2004-07-17

5 out of 5 stars Awesome CD.......2006-04-06

There are parts of this CD that qualify as the most moving music I've ever heard, specifically, parts of Track 2. You've probably got to love kirtan and Wah! to feel as enthusiastic as I do, but even if you're only curious and interested in learning more about this type of hindu/chanting/music, this is the one album I would recommend as a great first place to start.

5 out of 5 stars Mystical Sounds.......2007-06-03

I love this CD. I first heard it when receiving a Reiki attunement but it took me some time to get around to buying it for myself. It now often accompanies my Reiki practise. I do find it difficult to distinguish all the words of the mantra but that has not affected my enjoyment of the music. The way the chanting harmonises and blends with the music is masterful and enchanting. I always feel relaxed & energised after I have listened to this & I also use it if I have trouble sleeping.

4 out of 5 stars Something I Grew Into.......2007-03-16

I've been practicing yoga and meditation for about 3 years now. The first of Cannon's albums I was introduced to was OM Reverberation of Source. I instantly loved it, particularly on headphones or at a decent volume level through speakers. I tried some of his other albums at the time and didn't really like them (listened to cuts on spiritvoyage.com before they were offered on Amazon). Now after a couple more years, I tried this one again along with OM Namah Shivaya and find that I really like them both. Again, I really like them played fairly loud over speakers or through a nice pair of earphones (like Etymotics). Most of my meditations are 20-30 minutes, although I might start the CD during the last 20 minutes of my yoga practice when I'm working through twists and seated forward bends.

I don't know that the music does all that Charles Cannon says it does on his website, but I do find it often easier to quiet the mind with these particular CDs.

1 out of 5 stars Not Very Motivating to Me........2004-04-06

Yet another "Om" chanting album with calm sounds overlaid. I could have made this album on my home computer. Not very original or motivating to me at all.

5 out of 5 stars Soothing, Uplifting and Healing.......2003-09-23

The music on this CD is calm and serene, with changes occurring slowly. The voices are real, not synthesized. Listening to this CD has helped me to overcome pain and to feel more energetic, and has helped to cleanse me of negative energy.
