The Myriad proves why they have been such a buzz band on the West Coast-intelligent lyrics, solid hooks and music more reminiscent of bands from Europe than from the U.S.
Customer Reviews:
Alternative Christian rock with a mainstream slant.......2006-01-16
If you like European rock with an American flair, let me introduce you to The Myriad. The modern rock sound they have is hard to nail down, sounding more like a hybrid of several bands without actually being any of them. You can hear the influence of bands like U2, Coldplay, Radiohead, and Cool Hand Luke just to name a few. The production levels of this recording are great. There's really not much you can say bad about this release. I loved this CD!
Songs like "When Fire Falls" and "10,000 x 10,000" remind you instantly of Curious Fools, The Prayer Chain and Radiohead with their atmospheric guitars and whispery vocals. "The Last Time" and "Stretched Over" sound a lot like they could have come from Pedro The Lion.
The tempo really picks up with "Perfect Obligation" and "Tethered". Both are a lot more upbeat than the songs thus far on this disc. Both have catchy vocal work and sound like they'd be a lot of fun done live-especially "Tethered". The guys sound tight and the hooks come strong.
The band really seems to cut loose with songs like "Nothing is Safe" and "Godray", channeling a ton of energy and excitement into the latter before dropping into an ethereal bridge and back out again to an explosive finish.
"A New Language" slows things down again. Though the song isn't as energetic as the ones before it, the intensity is still here. "We Will Be Disappointed Together" closes the disc with a strong anthem. Jeremy Edwardson's vocals throughout the record are smooth and yet can instantly take on the power and strength necessary to blow you away.
The Myriad has an incredible sound that should quickly make them a favorite of a lot of people. This is one strong group with a lot of appeal to fans of modern rock. Though I've compared them to a number of bands, they're not trying to copy any of them. Instead, they have found their own sound and built upon it. If you're a fan of Muse, Sunny Day Real Estate, or Christian bands like The Violet Burning, Mute Math, or any of the others I've mentioned before, you'll find something to like in "You Can't Trust A Ladder".
tight sound, good tunes.......2005-10-24
I first discovered this band when they opened for A Beautiful Mistake and was very impressed with their sound (they played so tightly, and the mix was so good it was as if I was listening to a CD rather than a live band). The music was good, with solid beats and enchanting rhythm and melody (my first observation was the Radiohead influence - but that's not to say they're a knock-off). This CD has a good mix of more upbeat, energetic tracks and gentler more harmonic ones. The Myriad apparently claim to be a religious band (or is it just some joke of theirs?), but with songs about relationships and life's uncertainties, their religious leanings are not obvious - that is they don't sing "rock and roll hymns," like most modern religious groups - which in my mind makes them more accessable to a wider audience. Though I suppose one could read into the lyrics as much as one wants. In short, this is a very well produced, well written and well arranged debut album, even if a little bubble-gummy. Though I actually liked them more live, This CD is worth a shot.
Potential.......2005-09-01
Review by Tyler Wagnon:
Alongside their Christian brethren Copeland, The Myriad does their best to write dramatic songs in the vein of Coldplay and Radiohead. To their credit, vocalist Jeremy Edwardson has one of those voices you can simply get lost in, but the songwriting simply does not cut it.
If you couldn't already guess, You Can't Trust a Ladder is a somewhat somber album full of crunchy guitars, keyboard flourishes, catchy choruses, etc. The first few tracks display a little more energy than the rest of the album, which is something they should work on. Again, Edwardson's vocals are pretty nice, and they do some good work with harmonies, but the songs are just really boring and after the initial few tracks, the album loses a lot of steam and never recovers.
Not all is lost however, because The Myriad has really set a nice foundation on which to build their sound. Right now they are trying a little too hard to sound like their influences, so a little work in the creativity department and some better songwriting and these guys will be heading in the right direction. Until then, no thanks.
Great band with a unique sound........2005-07-28
I first heard of the Myriad at the Cornerstone Festival. I saw them in concert and the whole crowd was amazed by them. There sound on the stage prompted me to buy the album when I got home.
I fell in love with it right away. They have a very unique way of writing songs. The production on the album is very good. This is a Christian band and it shows in their music. But it is not overwhelming I'm sure non-Christians will like it too.
Simply Beautiful.......2005-07-23
This is an undeniably great work by this new artist. I always love artists that seem to remind you of others that have gone before, but are defined by none of them.
Radiohead, U2, I could go on. But the fact is that these guys have defined themselves bye their own means and creative talent, and should earn themselves their own space on the rock music landscape very soon.

Ultra- nihilistic Black Metal chaos in the old vein of Profanatica, Blasphemy, and Bestial Summoning... The sound of war kills you relentlessly. Features Cryptic Winter of Judas Iscariot on drum-hell. Also features the production assistance of Akhenaten from Judas Iscariot. This is extremist and frightening Black Metal done in the most extreme way possible and is the first release of Cicatrix, a new label formed under the wings of Red Stream.

A unique form of music.......2002-03-18
Early Krieg isn't structured in the same way most music attempts to be. It is a pure hurling forth of emotion, unleashing the forces within the subconscious mind that are living in terror and hatred underneath everyday civility. Your inner beast will resonate to these chaotic narratives and darkly textures infernal sonic landscapes. Lord Imperial's characteristic vocals here are grim and unyielding in the style of the oldest school of underground blackmetal.
Oh yeahhh...............2001-07-24
Well...I'll agree with the previous reviwer. This mCD (a teaser for a new full length, I hope) IS good, but Rise of the Imperial Hordes had that magic touch. Imperial does some good work here...It's nothing out of the simplistic black metal vein, but that style works here...Andrew Harris's engineering job is quite miserable, but that was probably intended (though the Harris/Imperial project Weltmacht has amazingly crisp, though still raw, sound quality-go figure). The drum performance on the first few tracks is quite chatic, and it's nice to here an acoustic drum performance in this age of "trigger everything" mentality (I mean does Hellhammer even know what an acoustic bas drum sounds like anymore?!?!?). A nice addition to the burgeoning USBM ranks, though I've heard better (from all involved). Keep an eye out for that Weltmacht album, if Elegy records can actually figure out to release an album (DAMN YOU ELEGY! WHY ALL THE DELAYS?!?...). Anyway, fans of the USBM sound will love this. I know I do!
raw and furious..........2001-05-20
Krieg's latest offering on CD is his most straight forward one.. If you don't know or have never heard Krieg's musik, this is raw/chaotic (noisy) BM in the vein of the ancient gods like : profanatica, beherit, blasphemy.. so you know this is gonna be really noisy BM. The vocals are weak in comparison to his previous albums, but still have somewhat ofa nasty feel to 'em. Well, this mCD isn't bad at all, it's just that he's done a lot better.. I must also say that the production on the 1st 4 songs are totally flat sounding, and take away a lot of power from the instruments (what was akhenaten thinking?) , but on the last track, everything sounds better (the guy in bloodstorm drums on this song). If you're into chaotic/noisy BM, don't pass this one up... Hails!

One of the best ever Irish Tenor Banjo Players!.......2003-02-20
Failte Romhat! (Greetings!) Gerry O Connor has been known for many years in his native Ireland. The rest of the world is missing out, as there is a long tradition of playing a four string tenor banjo. What can be best described as a unique flat pickin' style with triplets creates what can be called "old-timey Irish" music. The anchor finger is the pinky, and the flat pickin' is on a sequence of fast three note combination. Myriad repeats the statement made in his first album. This is the Earl Scruggs Banjo Player of Ireland. No offense to the many talented Irish banjo players I am willing to share a Guinness and my percussion with in any pub. He went on to fast paced and exumberantly Irish music with the "Four Men and a Dog." The lack of notoriety in the states and albums going out of publishing stand out to great offense to anyone who loves traditional Irish Music. If you are a real appreciator of this music, you need a Gerry O'Connor, Four Men and a Dog section in your CD collection (if you can still find the CD's). I suppose it is the parallel of holding a place in an Irish heart for Michael Collins. Perhaps there are Irish musical statements that are simply too true to being Irish and survivin' the techno 21st century. It is unappreciated good music. Ceol de Erin go Brach! (Music of Ireland Forever!). PS: Gerry has an Irish Tenor Banjo Tutorial CD ROM available for anyone that wants to learn to play good ol' Irish.
Awesome banjo, joyful, complex & wonderful.......1999-11-20
I picked this up on a whim at the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games (NC) last summer and it's one of the best new CD's I've gotten in a long time! O'Connor is an awesome banjo player but, more than that, the music and the arrangements are just great. If you like Dawg/David Grisman, Mark O'Connor (no relation), Tony Rice, Riverdance and/or upbeat Celtic flavored folk you will LOVE this album! I'm buying another for a friend who loves music for Christmas.

Great cool down music.......2006-07-17
I use this cd in all of my classes for cool down. The music is relaxing, it has a nice beat and it's different.
A winning combination.......2006-05-10
I recently ordered both Digital Moodz cds: Metamorphosis and Levitation. They are both welcome additions to my growing new age collection. I have found some great new artists and music here on Amazon. Metamorphosis is excellent with its old world meets new world feel to it. Tracks like Within and True Virtue shine.
Levitation presents a darker mood than Metamorphosis yet manages to be smooth and dreamy. The track Ages of Time is a classic and there are many both cds. Both cds are knockouts. I look forward to more from this group in the future.
I recommend this CD!.......2006-01-05
This is a very good CD. I am a big fan of the ethnic groovy new age music and this encompasses all of these styles and more.
I think this music has a broad appeal to many different genres of music. If you enjoy the boring, bland new age music, this cd is not for you but if you enjoy upbeat and unique sounds this cd you will enjoy.
Purchase this CD!.......2005-04-28
I first found Digital Moodz by accident on the web at their site - digitalmoodz.com. I bought "Metamorphosis" and have really enjoyed listening to this CD. I knew it would be good from the opening track "Mist" right through to the end. There is much here to enjoy from ambient downtempo to upbeat and uplifing tracks. The track "Within" is my favorite but I like them all.
Digital Moodz delivers on Metamorphosis.......2004-10-23
DM makes a great 1st impression in Metamorphosis. From the opening track's haunting but inviting flutes "Call of Wind" to the energizing jazzy spanish guitar "Mist", Digital Moodz covers a wide spectrum of sounds. All the tracks are great, but my favorites are the relaxing "True Virtue" (Gregorian chants, wonderful flutes), "Within" (excellence) and energetic "Light of Truth". Metamorphosis has songs for every mood and feeling. Great CD!

Captivating, Soothing, and Full of Surprises!.......2004-02-10
Tony Whitfield's Pleasure Sensitive 2 CD is out of this world! Whitfield's music is intriguing and captivating, yet full of surprises........for example, his awesome bass solo that preludes his title track, Pleasure Sensitive 2. Once heard, how can you get past the New York Hustle (Instrumental and Rap Versions) which, in addition to Whitfield's dynamic and unique twist of charm, displays a range of musical talent that seems to be carefully weighted and interwoven seamlessly into an effortless-sounding whole. The sensual sound of Baby Come Home simply puts you in a trance. Jarreau's Journey is the perfect tune to tuck you into bed late at night with a feeling like you're on top of the world! Tony Whitfield's Pleasure Sensitive 2 CD is a "must have!" It gets me through rush hour traffic every day!
