The Basics

Hard Drive: This entertainment-centric desktop is loaded with a 250 GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive, which offers higher speed transfer of data--akin to FireWire and USB 2.0--than typical ATA hard drives.
Processor: The hyperthreaded 3.4 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor allows a single CPU system to behave in some aspects like a dual-CPU system, helping deliver faster transistors and increased performance. It also features a 1 MB L2 cache and a blazingly fast 800 MHz front-side bus speed, which measures how fast a processor and the main memory communicate, and a 1 MB L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data, and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance.)
A hyperthreading processor helps a PC run multiple demanding applications at the same time. This technology enables the processor to execute two threads (parts of a program) in parallel, boosting performance during key high-drain procedures. This results in more efficient software performance (such as faster reaction times in gaming applications) and enhanced multitasking.

Memory: The VGC-RB38G comes with 512 MB of installed PC-3200 DDR RAM (400 MHz). This is a good start, but you'll want to max out the 2 GB capacity (which is a bit small for such a multimedia powerhouse) for your 3-D gaming and video-editing needs

CD/DVD Drive: Offering the latest in DVD writing technology, the multiformat DVD/CD drive is compatible with both DVD+ and DVD- disc formats, as well as dual-layer DVD+R discs, which can store up to 8.5 GB of data. For DVD-RW discs, it has a 8x write/4x rewrite speed, while for DVD+RW discs it has a 16x write/4x rewrite speed DVDs are read at 8x. For double-layer DVD+R, it has a 2.4x write speed. For CDs, it has a 32x write/24x rewrite speed. It also has a separate DVD-ROM drive with 16x DVD read speed and 40x CD read speed
Keyboard and Mouse: The system comes with a standard Vaio keyboard and optical mouse, which connect via the PS/2 ports on the back

Graphics and Sound
The ATI Radeon X300 SE is a high-end video card, powerful enough to run one large virtual screen across two displays. It features 128 MB of dedicated video RAM, S-Video and the higher-fidelity DVI connections out, and PCI Express x16 support, which enables graphics to process faster.

where near the top trumpet players. His tone is very heavy, and loses liveliness. When you hear him playing the 16ths and 32nds, his tone seems to turn a bit feeble and the sound IS NOT CONCENTRATED....each note is not clear enough
If you want to know what I mean, listen to Hakan Hardenberger. He has got a very focused tone and a beautiful tone at that.
Also, Maurice Andre has incredible tone and technique, but a different style from Hardenberger. Andre's playing may sound different too since he prefers to use French trumpets.
Hickman is okay, but...........2005-09-20 For a REAL trumpet player, search for Amanda Pepping's newest CD. She is truly amazing.
Trumpet Student Must-have.......2000-10-04 Serious high school and college trumpet players will be well served by owning this album. It contains several pieces with which you will spend a great deal of time during your studies, and gives you a clear, precise, and very musical account of them. The Kennan, Stevens, and Dello Joio are probably the most often performed works, but the other works on this album make a strong case for more inclusion on recitals as well.
David Hickman is an excellent player who makes eve

Customer Reviews:
If you have the $$$...This one won't disappoint!!.......2005-07-23 I got this computer about a week ago and i have to say...i havent seen a solid computer like this in years (well besides apple's g5)...i actually bought an hp media center computer(a1129n) before i got the vaio, but unfortunately, i had to return the hp for some problems...1st, the hard drive wasnt connected to the power supply so the computer couldnt recognize the OS after initial boot...(thanks to my technical knowledge i figured that one out)..but what pissed me off the most is after loading all the programs i needed, setting up media center and uploaded my music, the screen randomly flickers then turns the monitor into a completely white screen...its not the monitor since ive tried different monitors and its doing the same thing. well a new HP turned out a piece of junk..then i thought of the Vaio...got it at bestbuy for $919 with a hundred dollar rebate which is a fairly good deal...once i turned it on...everything was so smooth...im using 30Gb right now and it feels nothing...i am not sure with playing games as far as the graphics is concern..but i mostly do audio and video stuffs so it works perfectly for me..**if you are going to use more than 50gigs of hard drive space, i suggest to install at least 1GB of memory..apart from that..almost perfect but i still give it 5 stars...
Sony RB34G - MCE.......2005-03-08 Interesting "Box" , right off the shelf ! Hell to pay in getting it setup. Three (3) separate vendor firewalls activated all at the same time. Once you got on to that , setup went well.Windows XP MCE 2005 pre-installed and NO Microsoft MCE CDs. ON-Line support (Weak answers) and Telephone support EXTREMELY Bad ; more interested in telling you what they do not support; No real HELP;YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN! Make sure to update Windows MCE first thing and all security patches. Adding additional Memory (it only has 256) , and adding additional hard drives (Video "eats up" Storage) VOIDS the warranty and service! Best get a Windows XP OEM MCE "Box" at Gateway, HP or other. Still it was FUN to set up and start using. Nothing like "offsetting" basketball games for later viewing in high Defination.

ctions is incredibly broad and extremely tasteful. The songs are alternately joyous, rousing, subtle, and very moving, and the perfomances are superb. It would be wonderful if this CD were reissued in an inexpensive format; I would love to be able to give this as a gift to many friends. I particularly recommend selections 5, 22, 23, and 27. The last two of these, especially, deserve to be much better known and more widely performed than is presently the case.
A Wonderful Christmas Pageant .......2005-10-24 John Elliot Gardiner has brought us a great deal of wonderful music and has been a leader in what used to be called early music performance practice (nowadays it is just the way the music is performed). Apparently, he came from a well to do family and for some period of time they had their own Christmas pageant that told the story of the Nativity with a mix of various musical numbers that ranged the ancient to the relatively modern.
This is a terrific album all on its own, but it may spark some ideas for your own Christmas celebrations and introduce you to some new pieces new approaches for the Holiday. The music is all excellently performed, I suspect far more professionally than when he was a child, but we always idealize our fond memories don't we?
The disk comes with all the texts for the pieces along with his explanation of how the pageant worked along with the spoken parts (not included on the disk) and that is a nice touch. If you wanted, you could simply use the disk for the musical portions and take turns in your family of just reading the spoken parts. Just a though.
Enjoy!
Personal and Universal.......2000-12-19 This recording is a personal memoir of John Eliot Gardiner's childhood. His family put on an annual Christmas pageant involving a large cast of family, friends, neighbors, etc. The selections on this CD are the selections that were used for the pageant, plus a few of Mr. Gardiner's new favorites added as well. (The readings that were part of the pageant are included on the liner notes.)
On my first listen to this recording the music was beautiful, but it seemed like an ad hoc collection. The cause for this seemed to be the variety of fairly diverse styles from one selection to the next. There are high Renaissance pieces, contemporary pieces, traditional carols, some Medieval selections, and a few other odds and ends. Most of the works are a cappella, but some are accompanied. All are executed with the flawlessness of the Monteverdi Choir. But the album didn't seem to have a flow or direction.
Then I read the readings that went between the selections as well as the liner notes about the pageant. Ever since then the CD "clicked." The flow of the selections made wonderful sense.
If you by this CD I suggest you read the liner notes first and the readings in the order they are intended. At least for me it made the CD a complete work of art.
This CD is a glimpse into what "made" the conductor John Eliot Gardiner. It is also a universal statement of Christmas.
Beatiful choir.......1999-12-10 The Monteverdi choir sounds very well and all the melodies are sweet. Listen the third theme or ONCE AS I REMEMBER.

Customer Reviews:
absolutley incredible..........2005-03-09 This is without a doubt my favorite tear garden release. i am getting tired of everyone always having to explain why other projects of cevins dont sound like skinny puppy. skinny puppy is one demension of cevin, he is the most talented musician of all time as far as i am converned, i have been listening to skinny puppy since i was 15 years old, and i had never given tear garden a chance becsaue i was looking for more skinny puppy, now that i am older, i am so glad i went back and lsitned to tear garden again, they are incredible, when i first got this CD i listened to it 3 times in the same day, and i still cannot stop listneing to it, this is one of my favorite cds. i want to recommend also i, parasite, android lust, monstrum sepsis, cyrusrex, veneitan snares, and prick "the wreckyard" [...]
melody is the king: and good melody, btw.......2002-03-12 I think Cevin Key and Edward Ka-spel are very talented musicians. Together or separately, they have made very good songs and albums, experimenting with everyting imaginable: experimental electronics, fussion of wind instruments with cold electronics, danceable melody, undanceable melody, etc etc. Now this 'Crystal mass' is maybe their most accessible piece of work Key has ever been invloved in. Once said this, and once said that Skinny Puppy is my fav band and Legendary Pink Dots are starting to be one of my top favourites, I must say: Crystal mass is a good album.
But mind this: don't expect a Puppy influenced album, 'cos you won't get it. You better expect a somewhat melodic industrial (is this industrial? does industrial mean sth? those questions are opened to you, and I won't answer them) with a very good voice, very open-minded. In fact, Tear Garden is a very opened-minded project, don't u think so? they add lots and lots of influences, tastes, styles, such as, for instance, industrial, pop, rock, reggae (it's undeniable, to me, the reggae beat in some songs of this project as well as in some later Download's songs.
The lyrics are good, very good, since Ka-spel is a poet, just as Ogre is, so unlke other composers such as Bill Leeb who, even though I love his music, I must admit he's a very poor writer, and anyway he down't seem to want to be a good one.
Now, the songs, since many people say the order of the titles doesn't correspond with the order of the actual songs, I'll comment them as track 1, track 2, etc.
Track 1: after an electronic intro which makes us clear that this album isn't going to be innovative regarding sound, we get a very melodic song, which reminds me of... New Order, without a shadow of doubt, a sort of darker New Order, but the influence is there for me to see it, at least. Good lyrics, sad atmosphere, melancholy everywhere.
Track 2: it begins alright, again with that blend of retro electronics and 80's beats, but here I seem to find some echoes of indie music from the 90's. With no chorus, the same sentence is repeated at last once and again. It's not one of my fav.
Track 3: in the same vein of track 1, this song has a very good chorus "this is your life...", a very catchy melody, nothing groundbreaking of course, but good.
Track 4: This is the least electronic song in all the album, reminds me once more of New Order, good melody but my leats fav.
Track 5: here we have some reggae influence. A good song, anyway, curious lyrics, reggae chorus.
Track 6: A very melancholy song, Ka-spel sings superbly, he makes me wanna die.
Track 7: maybe the most original song, again reggae influence, as well as trip-hop intonation. Maybe my fav together with the first one. The most experimental song, it seems as if Key wants to remind us at times that he is the man behind the Download experimental project.
Track 8: over a more electronic background, Ka-spel recites couples of verses in which melancholy presides all over.
Track 9: another melodic piece, sad, with slight touches of Download electronics, but all with the accostumed sad melodic touch.
To sum up, i want to say that this is not my favourite type of music, 'cos I prefer more electronic , darker and experimental projects such as Download, Skinny puppy, or Tear Garden's 'Tired eyes slowly burning', but sometimes...
...sometimes I want some good, sad, melancholy, melody: then this is the album.
I just don't get it........2002-02-07 After reading so many glowing words about Tear Garden in general and Crystal Mass in particular, I had high hopes for this album. Those hopes were dashed as soon as I began listening. While Crystal Mass has a few good musical moments here and there, most of the time the album alternates between bland and annoying. The musicianship is competent but unremarkable. The songwriting is lackluster, and the vocals are downright dreary. Let me be clear about the vocals. I am not saying that they vocals are depressing; there is plenty of great music with depressing vocals. I am saying the vocals are bland, uninteresting, and emotionless. There are a couple of good ideas about, but the music never goes anywhere. The really shocking thing is that this album came out in 2000. It sounds straight out of the mid eighties, and I can barely believe otherwise. Crystal Mass has all of the trappings of a recording made in 1984 except for the magic that made much of that music so special. All in all I am left with the image of a slightly tired British fellow staring at his navel and wondering what's on TV.
..........2001-03-17 ...What's the problem if this album sounds mellow, or this orthat. With the number of records they made (T.G. and the PinkDots)you'll surely find someting to make your mind. Is it bad if"lament" (or the pseudo electro dub in the middle) top somegreek or south Patagonian chart, so that Ed can make a lot of otherrecords. Crystal Mass is great listening : on a car in the rain,on asunny sunday morning, when having a new date or buying a new car. It'sgreat..Don't get me wrong, I like Download, Numb, Skinny Puppy, cEvinKey and some other thing you won't even think of listen to, but thisrecord made me really happy. The real luxury : "EasyListening" 24/24 and 7/7 Tear Garden..
Whats wrong with the reviews that have gone before.........2000-12-04 This is very much a high point in Tear Gardens work. Despite former claims of starting out happy, the opening song Lament even in title let alone its lyrics, hides a dark meloncholy within it about hope dashed to pieces. As well all know though, lyrics are not the music only a part or it would be poetry alone. Tear Garden implements more of its unique sound clips, and wonderful blues guitar influences. I have to wonder what an albumn would sound like if they worked with David Gilmore from Pink Floyd. I have found that certain track of Crystal Mass have a tendancy to STICK in your head, playing over and over, such catchy melodies they carry with just the right tint of sadness and regret behind them. If only modern radio would recognize that music such as this should be played and not the Generation Loss clones of the current trends.
For those who were wondering why there are 8 titles and 7 track listings.. Hopeful-Castaway is one 10 minute track not two seperates.
Every track on this albumn should cater to prior fans of Tear Gardens work, and on my shelf its moved past Last Man to Fly as my Favorite work by them to this date.
Rumor had it at the time of impending release that there was over 2 hours of music recorded in LA in one sitting, we can only hope that there will be a release of much more of this session.

Convert your VHS or 8mm home videos to DVD discs to share with the whole family via the dual-layer, multiformat DVD burner. Store hundreds of hours of your music collection on the extra-large 200 GB Serial ATA hard drive. This multimedia PC also features 512 MB of installed RAM, a fast hyper-threaded 3.0 GHz Pentium 4 processor, multiformat memory card reader compatible with the most popular digital camera formats, and stereo speakers. For a step up in price, the Vaio VGC-RB3rG offers a 3.2 GHz Pentium 4 processor and TV tuner with personal video recorder (PVR) functionality.
The Basics

Hard Drive: This entertainment-centric desktop is loaded with a 200 GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive, which offers higher speed transfer of data--akin to Firewire and USB 2.0--than typical ATA hard drives.
Processor: The hyper-threaded 3.0 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor allows a single CPU system to behave in some aspects like a dual-CPU system, helping to deliver faster transistors and increased performance. It also features a 1 MB L2 cache and a blazingly fast 800 MHz front-side bus speed, which measures how fast a processor and the main memory communicate, and a 1 MB L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance.)
A Hyper-Threading processor helps a PC to run multiple demanding applications at the same time. This technology enables the processor to execute two threads (a part of a program) in parallel, boosting performance during key high-drain procedures. This results in more efficient software performance (such as faster reaction times in gaming applications) and enhanced multitasking.
Memory: The VGC-RB30 comes with 512 MB of installed PC-3200 DDR RAM (400 MHz). This is a good start, but you'll want to max out the 2 GB capacity (which is a bit small for such a multimedia powerhouse) for your 3D gaming and video-editing needs.
CD/DVD Drive: Offering the latest in DVD writing technology, the multiformat DVD/CD drive is compatible with both DVD+ and DVD- disc formats as well as dual-layer DVD+R discs, which can store up to 8.5 GB of data. For DVD-RW discs, it has a 8x write/4x rewrite speed, while for DVD+RW discs it has a 16x write/4x rewrite speed (DVDs are read at 8x). For double-layer DVD+R, it has a 2.4x write speed. For CDs, it has a 32x write/24x rewrite speed. It also has a separate CD-ROM drive with 40x CD read speed.
Keyboard & Mouse: It comes with a standard Vaio keyboard and optical mouse, both of which connect via the PS/2 ports on the back.
Graphics and Sound
The VGC-RB30 features an integrated video/graphics card in the Intel 915GM chipset, which features up to 224 MB of dynamic video RAM (shared with the main RAM). The 15.4-inch LCD has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Sony's Smart Display Sensor feature instantly adjusts resolution when you connect to a display or projector. It also has an integrated audio card.
Connectivity and Expansion Slots
For expansion, the VGC-RB30 has two 5.25-inch half-height external bays (occupied), one external 3.5-inch bay (occupied) and four internal 3.5-inch bay (one occupied), and two PCI slots. It comes with a built-in floppy drive and the following external connectors:

6 USB 2.0 ports for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players
2 FireWire (also known as IEEE 1394 or i.Link) port for connecting digital video camcorders and other peripherals (1 6-pin in front, 1 4-pin in rear)
1 parallel port for connecting older printers and scanners
2 PS/2 ports for connecting keyboards and mice
1 VGA monitor port
1 microphone, 1 headphone, 1 line-in
Multiformat memory card reader on the front, compatible with CompactFlash (Type I and II), MicroDrive, SmartMedia, Memory Stick/Memory Stick Pro, MultiMedia Card, Secure Digital, and XD Picture Card
It also has an integrated 56K modem (V.90) and an RJ-45 LAN network port (for a 10/100/1000 Fast Ethernet connection to networks and DSL/cable modems).
Preloaded System and Software
This system comes with the Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 operating system with Advanced Security Technologies, which helps to reduce unwanted downloads and pop-ups while surfing the Web. It also comes loaded with a bevy of Sony multimedia software: Vaio Zone with WinDVD (for watching DVD movies), Click to DVD (DVD creation), PictureGear Studio (digital photo), SonicStage (digital music), Vaio Media (network file sharing), and DVgate Plus (digital video). Other preloaded software includes Quicken 2005 New User Edition, Corel WordPerfect and Quattro Pro, Norton Internet Security (with 90-day subscription), Sonic RecordNow, and SpySubtract.
