This music has been specifically created with Osho for the Osho Nataraj Meditation, which is "dancing" meditation in a series of revolutionary "Active Meditations" described in Osho's book "Meditation: The First and Last Freedom," from St. Martin's Press and others, and also available from amazon.com. These Active Meditations are designed for the modern restless mind. They lead you from intense physical activity to an experience of silence. People who love to dance and to celebrate will like the music of this CD. Meditating with this music is the best work out you can get!

There are three stages in the Nataraj Meditation lasting a total of 60 minutes: . With eyes closed dance as if possessed. Let your unconscious take over completely. Do not control your movements. Just be totally in the dance. "Let the dance flow in its own way; don't force it. Rather, follow it; allow it to happen. It is not a doing but a happening. Remain in the mood of fe! stivity. You are not doing something very serious; you are just playing, playing with your life energy, playing with your bioenergy, allowing it to move in its own way. Just like the wind blows and the river flows you are flowing and blowing. Feel it. And be playful. Remember that word "playful is very basic.

Graduates of MP3.com, NatarajXT, on the recently formed NuTone label (subsidiary of Canada's Nettwerk), put on a great show, mixing the traditional Indian sarod, sitar, and esraj with electronics to produce a series of tracks that vibrate, pulse, flow, and move in perfect East-West fusion.

Nataraj is one of the names (and incarnations) of Shiva, from the Hindu pantheon (Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva). While Shiva is often referred to as the Destroyer, in his Nataraj form he is Lord of the Dance, and these guys sure do a terrific job of paying homage to their namesake. One of the most popular musical cultures to be associated with worldbeat/world fusion, Indian music can just as easily be diluted and considerably weakened as it can be hugely enhanced.

Because they're sharp guys, NatarajXT knows this, and they reflect that knowledge in their music. This is one of the better examples of Indian-influenced worldbeat, for sure.

Spirit of silent dancing.......1999-11-29

If the idea of trance had appeared in deuters mind some twenty years ago, this might be the music that transpired: both lively, inspiring and serenly quiet in its focus on the trancending dance, the meditational core, obviously showing the true seeker that this music has been made in communion with a great master, allthough the message only truly comes forth when experiencing the dance for the fortyfive minutes - and then fifteen minutes later 'waking up' to find ones world slightly changed, a fraction of a second everything seems so much clearer and more real, and the idea of problems have for a time vanished, a pure delightful emptiness prevails for a short while, - yet enough to sprinkle the entire day with a certain vibe of happyness, a certain gladness of the spring or autumn, as the light falling though the clouds seems clearer, and then the next day might just be time for another go or at least one week later, marking that day of the week as something special, penetrating and different.

I heard the track space-in in the "Asian Lounge" collection and was amazed. The seamless intermingling of Indian classical and electronica really touches the heart.
Hope this popularises the Indian classical music.
I would give 5 Stars for Space-in alone!

Very pleasant spur-of-the-moment purchase.......2003-08-23

Reminiscent of Buddha Bar-type stuff, this album's chock full of psy/goa fusiony sitary goodness. The title track (Ocean Birds, #3) is fantastic, mixing East, West, and South East Asian influences with what reminds me of far West European/Celtic melodies. Truly inspired stuff. I also like track #9. Although each track is acoustically distinct from the rest, the whole package sticks pretty close to the worldbeat style and will be to some listeners somewhat monotonous.
