The 300740 LaCie D2 SATA Hard Drive signals the evolution of the parallel ATA interface into a standard that competes with the performance and reliability of SCSI and Fibre Channel. Serial ATA or SATA provides greater data availability and service, improved data integrity and highly efficient cable and connectors. In the Serial ATA configuration each drive communicates with the host computer directly, at any time, meaning that the entire available bandwidth is dedicated to each iindividual drive, delivering data at its maximum throughput. Easily implemented, there is no need for device drivers or IDs, and the LaCie d2 SATA Hard Drive comes with a LaCie Serial ATA PCI Card to immediately provide system connectivity. The LaCie Serial ATA PCI Card is compatible with both Windows and Mac Operating environments, supports external bootability and ships with software for easy configuration or RAID 0/1 arrays. This card also allows you to connect up to two LaCie d2 STA Hard Drives and draws power from the card to free up outlets and take away cable confusion.
