4 out of 5 stars Waterfalls.......2007-03-15

This is not my favorite. It is true to the real thing. I just don't enjoy the waterfall sound like I thought I would.

5 out of 5 stars Love it.......2006-12-29

Just the basic sound of water, no music or other sounds added. It's very realistic-sounding, relaxing and makes for great white noise.

5 out of 5 stars Just the Real Thing.......2004-05-22

Waterfalls are some of the most primitive things in nature. With this cd, you can't help but think you're right there next to the waterfall. Close your eyes or lie down, and let the natural sounds permeate your mind.

5 out of 5 stars Very soothing!.......2001-05-09

This CD has the wonderful sound of a waterfall. There are no other background noises or music, just pure, rushing water. This waterfall is very powerful as well. It's great to listen to at night before bed. I find that it helps me get to sleep faster, and it's great for helping to relieve a headache. In my opinion, Sounds of the Earth puts out the best CD's of this kind, because they are pure nature sounds with no other noise. I also highly recommend their "Rain In The Country" CD, as well as their "Ocean Waves" and "Woodfire" CD's. They are all very relaxing to listen to.

Album Description

The sounds for this series were recorded in 3D by Chuck Plaisance. His recording system is designed to simulate human hearing, using a binaural head microphone to capture depth, height, width, as well as directional movement. No special equipment is needed to get 3D sound from traditional stereo speakers. In fact, these albums will make your system - speakers or headphones - sound like it never has before. You are the experience.

All pieces contain compositions of pure Nature Sounds produced, arranged, edited and mastered by Chuck Plaisance and Suzanne Doucet. (aka Virtual Audio Environment).

5 out of 5 stars Perfect To Fall Asleep To.......2006-07-20

I bought this CD because I didn't really know which type of sound I'd relax most too be it ocean, rain, forest, etc. Well I love all the sounds on this sampler, and I play it every night. My hubby says that 20 mins into the CD there's a rooster crowing, but I wouldn't know because by that time I'm already fast asleep. Great stuff!

5 out of 5 stars 3-Dimensional Pure Nature Sounds.......2005-11-21

This excellent compilation of 20 different Nature Sound albums was out of print, but is now finally available again through ONLY NEW AGE MUSIC(repackaged and remastered). This album creates a journey through different Nature scenes all recorded by Chuck Plaisance, with a special microphone that simulates human hearing. The sounds were then edited and composed, arranged and mixed like an orchestrated piece but still remain pure Sounds of Nature. Like Bernie Krause Doucet and Plaisance take essential Nature Sounds and recreate an ambience that takes you even deeper into the essence of Nature.

5 out of 5 stars Waterfall.......2007-01-05

Enjoyed this one too. I need calm sounds to fall asleep and this one works for me.

5 out of 5 stars IN MY OPINION, THE BEST ENVIRONMENT / NATURE CD EVER.......2004-02-11

I currently have a collection of a number of environment / nature cds. I personally prefer them without added music, and without subliminal information, just pure nature sounds. WATERFALL: A WEEK IN HAWAII is, without a doubt, my very favorite environment / nature CD. The recording of this particular waterfall in Hawaii is very soothing and relaxing. Dr. Toby Mountain did a superb job. When I am at the library, or anywhere for that matter, I carry a cd player with headphones in my briefcase or backpack, along with my WATERFALL CD. This combination makes the perfect sound machine. I am able to read with talking going on in the background. When I'm writing on the computer, I listen to this cd, just as I am doing right now. I never seem to tire of it.

If you have difficulty relaxing or sleeping, this album may very well help. If you're looking for the ultimate in aural relaxation, I believe that WATERFALL: A WEEK IN HAWAII is an excellent choice. I hope that the producer of this album never stops making it. Without reservation, I rate this work a perfect 5 stars.

Also Recommended: RAIN IN THE COUNTRY, THE PSYCHOLOGICALLY ULTIMATE SEASHORE, SOUNDS OF THUNDER BY THE SEA, and RELAXING WITH NATURE: OCEAN SURF/SAILING.

3 out of 5 stars Running water.......2001-11-15

I love the sound of running water, espcially that of a thunderstorm or the ocean surf. "Waterful, a Week in Hawaii," seemed to fit that bill, but I find it to be a little on the monotonous side. Although the sound quality is not bad, at a volume loud enough to distinguish it from a "TV on a blank channel," (according to my husband,) it is very intrusive. It's difficult to just lay back and relax with a book or day dream. In fact I find I'm usually planning my next trip to the bathroom, rather than my next vacation to Waikiki.

5 out of 5 stars Relaxation at it's best!.......2001-08-10

I bought this CD for my husband a couple of years ago. It was so relaxing, we would fall asleep to it. Now we're expecting our first baby in October and I definately plan on playing it, not only for the baby but for me as well!

5 out of 5 stars All natural........2001-07-11

This recording is the one to sleep by. Brahms and Beethoven are hard to beat, but this waterfall recording taped by Dr. Toby Mountain is my most often played CD. I used to live by a busy corner with lots of traffic noise. This CD helped drown out the dissonance of the city. Now I live with two babies, and the waterfall's lullaby is still washing away the stress. Unlike many environmental CDs, this one has no obnoxious editing or mixing, and no schmaltzy musaque added. The sounds are like the ones you would really hear if you were camping in the forest.

I bought a copy of this CD for a young friend with a year old child. It is very soothing, sleepy-time music. I would also recommend it as background music for therapeutic massages, facials, etc. It is relaxation music if you feel stressed out.
If you are familiar with harp music, it has its own tone. Once or twice in my life, I have dined at a five star restaurant that employed a harpist. There are 11 tracks (playing time 52:30)

4 out of 5 stars Cascada, little known fact, a DJ before she became a singer.......2007-05-05

Many know Cascada by the popular songs "Everytime We Touch", "Miracle", and the dance remake of Savage Garden's "Truly Madly Deeply". And, the producer- Yanou- most will remember orchestrated the dance remake of Bryan Adams "Heaven" back in 2002.

As the story goes, UK vocalist Natalie Horler- lead singer of Cascada- was originally a studio mixer on the sound boards and Club DJ before she accepted the offer to Lead sing on a project invented on the idea of Yann "Yanou" Peifer. Yanou was already famous for `Heaven'. When it was discovered that Horler could sing, Cascada was born.

This CD actually is Remixes made by Horler, when she was a studio mixer and DJ for a dozen different UK Dance Club artists, before she agreed to do the Cascada project with Yanou.

The sound is very similar to the current Cascada rythems that we are used to by Horler these days. Even though I did not know most of these artists or songs before I heard this CD, there are some really good mixes on the disc. If you like Dance & Club music, or, if you like Cascada- You WILL Like this too!

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely wonderful for reading.......2004-02-14

When I listened to the sound clips I thought it sounded interesting. When I actually got it, I was absolutely MESMERIZED by the beauty of the sounds. If it were a book, I'd have to say I couldn't put it down. The sound (it isn't really music per se) is just perfect for reading, background, conversations, or, of course, for falling asleep. I wish there were more of it!!

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for yoga, indeed.......2003-06-20

I'm with Judith Peterson. This is indeed perfect music for yoga. And it deserves much better treatment than it has received from Disc World. At this time, it's nearly impossible to find. I'm trying to stock up a few copies so that I'll never be without it. Anyone have any extras?

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful for yoga practice.......2002-10-18

Bamboo Waterfall has been my favorite for doing my yoga practice, meditation, and writing ever since it first came out. I always seem to go back to those sounds when choosing from among my collection of meditational recordings. I've given copies to all my favorite people over the years and I get great pleasure from sharing the peace and comfort it brings.

      5 out of 5 stars Bamboo Waterfall.......2002-04-27

Beautiful. I have been listening to Bamboo Waterfall since it was first released. It is so Spiritual...very purifying energy frequencies. One is transported into a peaceful mountain rain forest or perhaps realms with the Buddha. It is great to do artwork with , cleaning house or when on the computer. Even my animals respond to the peacefulness of Bamboo Waterfall.

5 out of 5 stars Restful, peaceful, perfect.......2001-10-04

I spend a lot of time at the computer and enjoy listening to music but am easily distracted. This CD appealed to me because I love bamboo wind chimes. And bamboo wind chimes are featured in the CD! More musical wind chimes as well, light bells, and soft water, combine to make this one of my favorites to work with, I highly recommend this CD.

4 out of 5 stars A Solid, More Mature Project.......2000-11-16

Where A REASON TO LIVE (Cindy's previous album) dealt with heavier topics like pain and hope, UNDER THE WATERFALL is an album that lyrically shines down God's grace and faithfulness. There is a musical shift as well, as the pop found here contains a much more noticeable R&B groove. Cindy wrote/co-wrote 11 of the 12 songs here. The album is divided into three parts, based on lyrical direction: "Embraced by Grace," "Pathway of Pain," and "Love's Refrain."

The ultra-short "Prelude to Grace" opens the disc, immediately leading into "Sweet Days of Grace," an upbeat pop tune that should play well on radio. "Painted a Rainbow" follows with a similar theme of grace set to a danceable beat. After hearing these two songs one begins to think that this is clone of her first two albums. But that judgment is pre-mature, as there is only one more song with REAL LIFE-esque danceable pop. "I Know You" is one of the albums highlights. With a sweet, easy going melody, it reflects upon the goodness of God with a very honest lyric. "Delilah," a song with an unusual title and an amazing hook. Preceded by a spoken poem, "Angels Falling" has a haunting recorder line that's reminiscent of a recent Sophie B Hawkins tune.

Part Three leads us to the anthem "I'll Stand," the best song on the disc. With Michael W. Smith on piano and a choir in the background, this cut is very comparable to Mariah Carey's "Anytime You Need A Friend," with its heavy gospel flavor. In a testimonial message, she sings: "How to begin/I know you've carried me all the way/as long as I stand/I'll stand with you against the rages of man/with all that I am/I'll praise the Rock that saves the souls of man/forever, I'll stand."

Improving upon each past success is not easy, but Ms. Morgan has somehow found a way to do so again. UNDER THE WATERFALL is the best of her first three projects. Four stars.

5 out of 5 stars Under the Waterfall.......2000-10-19

It has only been a year that I've come to know of her music. Since then, I sincerely beleive her music comes from the heart and pray to hear more of her inspired words of God.

5 out of 5 stars Cindy finds her niche..........1999-07-13

With "Under The Waterfall", we get our first glimpse of the real Cindy. You won't dance to this as much as to her first two, but it will inspire you, and brighten a bad day. Some of her best ballads are on here.

      5 out of 5 stars Simply Breathtaking.......1998-10-16

I was totally captured by the gift of music that Cindy has. It is a refreshing cd, that will really touch your soul...and I look forward to all of her releases. If you are feeling down, or just feel like praising God, this is the CD for you.

3 out of 5 stars A prelude to the new Cindy.......1998-07-08

I can't say that I was thoroughly impressed by this album when it was first released, but I also wasn't turned off by it. It's simple, straightforward pop that told me there were better things yet to come from this very impressive and talented singer. With this album, she began cracking the veneer of the polished production seen in her first two albums, and began revealing her true self. It's definitely worth having.

For some reason, Ozrics has always created polished studio efforts, starting with the classics Erpland, Strangitude and Jurassic Shift, going through the underrated Become the Other & Swirly Termination, and ending with Hidden Step. However, for me, the CD that holds up the best over time and continues to grow in depth is the fabulous Waterfall Cities. On this disc, the 2nd Ozrics lineup achieved their greatest focus and consistency, and produced a space-rock masterpiece.

The title track, in my view, contains one of the five or six finest recorded guitar solos in the entire decade of the 90's. Here, Ed Gwynn channels Jeff Beck into a powerful, multi-phased statement of true virtuosity. Building in ferocity as the extended solo passage progresses, and yet avoiding the technical excesses of the Malmsteen/Vai/Satriani school, Gwynn builds the theme of the composition and finally erupts into a scorching single-string line that circles around the key of the passage and brings it home in flawless fashion, followed by a keyboard jam passage of stunning beauty that takes the song in a completely different direction. Satriani only WISHES he could build compositions like this. Exciting and inspirational.

After opening with a passage resembling chamber music from Mars in Ch'ai?, Gwynn also contributes another scorching solo which is built upon an incredibly solid rhythm section backdrop - another specialty from this particular Ozrics lineup. The whole disc is like this. Without going into detail about every track, the entire CD breathes of integrity and concentration. This is a flawless effort from a band that really deserved a lot more exposure than they have ever received.

4 out of 5 stars beyond any catagorization.......2003-11-25

i met a couple at a 'yes' concert - they gave me an ozric tentacles disc (pungent effulgent) - these humans were surprised that i was unfamiliar with the ozrics - since i am such an avid 'yesfan' - - knocked-over as i was after hearing 'pungent' - that decided to try waterfall cities - this is quite amazing music - its sound is fluid and yet solid at the same time - very very impressive - it should be played at maximal volume - which implies raw power - yet it has such delicate moments of beauty that it is astonishing - - if you've come to this page - you're probably already familiar with this music - so i'll not convince you to buy this - either you will or you wont - - but *if* you really did just stumble here to this page - and are unfamiliar with this group (as i was) - buy this disc - it is not 'progressive rock' really - i have no idea how you would catagorize this music - it is truly unbelievable - it defies description

5 out of 5 stars Spiral Mind & Coily- Oz T Best ever!.......2003-02-23

Next to Erpland, (FOR ME) this is the best overall CD from Ozric Tentacles! This is the second line up of the current band and it all comes together here. This ensemble works very, VERY well together. Ed has his usual mastery of the cosmic music waves. The band CLEARLY draws much influence from the Gong Record You, but they play it better and with more of a percussive punctuation than even Gong did! The new line-up from 1997 pulls together here and has not come close to matching this achievement. I am sorry if your a fan and disagree with my thinking here. Buy Pongmaster's Ball then (it is aweful- the good members left the band for that). Waterfall Cities IS an EXCELLENT spin!

4 out of 5 stars Elements of rock, funk, jazz and new age.......2001-09-29

I admit I'm a newcomer to the Ozric, but so far I'm glad I've been introduced to them. They take you through a marvellous music journey incorporating diverse elements, making it both unique AND extremely listenable. If they had advanced synthesizer technology back in the 70's, I imagine it would have sounded like this. On the first few listens most of their work sounds like a long improvised jamming session recorded on the fly, with influences ranging from ethnic rhythms through eastern mysticism, reggae and modern jazz, although firmly routed in a rock setting. Further listening reveals a complex and subtle structure beneath the apparent free-form and whirling keyboard textures, and the mesmerising repeated riffs. One could call them new age, or even dance, but to me this has too hard an edge to fit truly within those categories. In any case, incorporating all of this and weaving it in and out of odd time signatures makes for an interesting and rewarding listen.
