I am native spanish and this CD is the closest to the music I've had when I was little. Music is soft with no annoying voices. My 4 month old baby loves it already. Many of the songs are fun to dance with and in others you can signal with your hands while singing. Highly recommended.

We have a 10 month old and we can only speak English to her. To introduce her to the Spanish language we got this CD of music and the whole family loves it, including the little one. We all love dancing around the living room while its playing. Its also has 5 or 6 spoken parts to expose the baby to the spoken word. Also, its been a great CD to put her to sleep with because to songs are so soft an pleasing. You can't go wrong with this one!

As a non-native Spanish speaker trying to expose our daughter to as much Spanish as possible (my husband only speaks English to her), this is a perfect CD with easily understood (i.e. not too fast, nor too many voices singing at once) and fun music in Spanish. The music quality is great and diversity of people singing (women, men, children) is broader than other CD's I've heard. Also, there are quite a few tracks!

It can be hard to find children's music in Spanish that parents can also enjoy, but this is it. These performers sing well and have put together some delightful arrangments of old standards as well as some new songs. My Spanish-speaking kids (ages 4 and 1) love it and always get up to dance during their favorites.

These guys are simply the best Mariachi band in the U.S... and truly give Mariachi Vargas a run for their money. Unfortunately their recordings are not as good as their live performances in which they routinely grant us some surprises like "Orange Blossom Special", "Caravan" or "Nereidas".

Other reviewers slate this recording because it's not in keeping with the Guaraldi trio sound that made Charlie Brown so distinctive. That is in a way, a completely valid concern, but the fact remains, this recording is an interpretation, and not entirely a bad one.
Getting the negative points out the way first, the orchestra here is stunningly bad - possibly the most dreadful performance ever captured on tape. The amateur status of the musicians is very much on show, and is highly distracting as half the time, you're not hearing the music - you're wincing in pain at yet another instrumental flub. For some people, it will be very difficult to look through the deficient performance through to the music. As for that, a Toe Fungus diatribe it most definitely isn't (though one could argue, such a document would make fascinating reading to a chiropodist and proves the point that one man's garbage is another man's gold) - neither is it great. It's definitely interesting, diverting, and fun. Some sections do tend to drag on a little, without feeling like much progression is happening - Peppermint Patty in particular, feels considerably longer than it's six minutes.

I would - and so would you - enjoy this album considerably more if it were performed well.

As it stands, it's hard to recommend unless you're a Guaraldi completist or a Charlie Brown obsessive, or maybe if your son or daughter were playing in this orchestra - though I doubt anybody would want to commemorate their playing in any detailed fashion.

This recording will forever blot their reputations.

I was never a big fan of the Charlie Brown, sure I watched them but was never a fan. So I didn't think I would like this that much(it was a gift). But I was wrong.

I may have gotten the wrong CD if I wanted to hear Charlie Brown. This adds lots of extras to the original songs that appeared in the show specials, new instruments being the main addition. I did latter purchase the Christmas Show soundtrack, and I must say I like this one better. Charlie Brown enthusiest hate me for saying that but like I said I was never a fan of the original shows.

But this CD did have its faults with me. One being that at times I had to look down at my CD player and see how long I had been listening to the current song(that only happened to me like twice). And when you find yourself doing that you know that thats not the best album in the world. I think songs should leave you wanting more not asking when will this be over.

Despite that its still good, I liked most of the live "Suite" stuff being a big fan of live music. And at around eleven or twelve bucks you can't really go wrong.

These are the Charlie Brown tunes -arranged for jazz orchestra by Vince Guaraldi. Vince and the trio are front and center throughout.

It takes a little bit of musical maturity to be able to appreciate these tracks.

So listen to the clips. They speak for themselves.

This album is certainly not for the faint of heart...If you just want to hear some Charlie Brown music, go get the original sdtk to the christmas special.

On the other hand, if you really appreciate the twisted melodic genious of Guaraldi (like I do), this album is a must. I picked up this cd on a whim to preview it at Borders, and was blown away. Once I realized that the track 'Happiness Is' is actually a slower version of the 'Great Pumpkin Waltz' with strings, my jaw dropped. Then halfway through the song, Vince comes in with this solo that sends chills down my spine! And the fact that it's at a slower tempo allowed him to really take his time in expressing himself. Man...talk about sick!!! that track was worth the price alone. Then as I listened to the rest, and I found more great gems...like the way Vince playfully bounces around over the wonderfully melancholy arrangement of 'Rain Rain Go Away', and how vince musically captures the quirkiness of 'Peppermint Patty'.

And mind you that the majority of these tracks are live...no studio retakes...every lick Vince plays is improv.

Although there are some doubtful renditions on this album - like Linus and Lucy (a little too abstract for my taste), there are great finds on this cd well worth the price for the V.G. fan!

    This is Mexican favorites from a corny old folks perspective. It was neither classical or tejano, just tacky stuff. I was very disappointed and returned it.

    Its an okay CD but I don't think its worth your hard earned dollars. Many of the tracks are mediocre and there are few gems here. Instead, I recommend that you read through my guide on Mexican music which will expose you to dozens of wonderful Mexican albums and provide you with a historical background of the music.

    This CD is most of the music you'd hear from any decent mariachi band or a soundtrack for a Mexican restaurant. Not terribly inventive or daring and on some tracks the production values are subpar. Overall, however, it's a fine introduction to traditional Mexican music and like any compilation, may very well lead the listener down the road to experiencing new artists.

      Well I must say that my boyz are doin their thang for the Lord! They have a distinct sound that's all their own! Move over Commissioned, Take 6, Men of Standard and make room for We R Perswaded! The group certainly deserves all the accolades because their flow is Jazzy Smooth! R&B, Jazz, urban/hip-hop, soul, carribean flavors...its all there! My favorite songs are "Give Me A Clean Heart", "Give Love", "Cleanse Me" and Keep the Faith". Do yourself a favor and pick up their CD today. You're gonna luv it!!

      I have no idea what the CD contains since I keep getting the wrong CD.
      I keep receiving a CD titled "The best of Latin America". This has happened twice and I still have not received the correct one I ordered. I'm getting discouraged having to continually return the incorrect CD just because of your errors. Someone should check the stock at Amazon and get this straightened out. It's very frustrating and doesn't speak well for your company.
      PLEASE send me the correct CD that I ordered.

      I previously had a cassette tape. Tried to buy a CD of it from several places. Bad news from every place. They all sent me "the best of latin america. Sound like the correct cd, almost. The album ordered was "All the best from Latin America". One place CASCAMAN was the most helpful. I was told that the UPC code was identical for both albums. I even wrote the company in Canada and did not get an answer. I gave up. I might have had nervous breakdown if I tried to order it again. Good luck.

      Well done instrumental (without acclamation) of many classic Latin standards; many of which will be familiar to all audiences, Latin or otherwise. Well worth the bucks. Add your own vocals and I'm sure you'll be surprised how good you sound with a great orchestra backing you up.

      If you're a classical music lover, you can't go wrong with this great combination of two nostalgic gems, originally recorded on Lp format by Arthur Fiedler, conducting the Boston Pops Orchestra.
      "Jalousie" was definitely one of Fiedler's finest works. The album theme "Jalousie" or "Jealousie" based on a tango composed by Gade, is a work of art. I first heard Fiedler's version of this great music master piece watching the old "B.F.Goodrich" musical program on television back during the early 60's and I immediately realized Fiedler's Boston Pops version of this great classic was absolutely the very best I have ever heard. This great album is complemented by other gorgeous classics, like "Il Guarany", "Jamaican Rhumba" "Danze Piemontese" and others. The second album included on this CD "Stardust" is another recorded milestone by Fiedler, "Stardust", "Clair de Lune" and other beautiful classics will simply delight you. Maestro Arthur Fiedler will always be remembered by music fans as Mr.Boston Pops. Fortunately a portion of his musical works with the Pops have been re-issued for us to enjoy and reminisce. I very highly recommend it. Do not miss this one.

To put it simply, this recording took some of the best traditional music from Latin American countries and re-invented them on a classical music instrument, the concert marimba.

      Fernando Meza describes the instrument in the CD liner notes: "The marimba as a solo instrument has only come of age over the past few decades.       Fernando continues to talk about the recording: "Coming from the small town of Cayey in Puerto Rico and being able to draw from the extensive musical traditions of Latin America, [Orlando] offers in this recording a musical bouquet of delicious inspiration and daring undertaking.       This is a splendid CD. I came across it in a general search for marimba music. For those who might think of "Latin" music in rather limited terms--son, samba, etc.--this CD will come as a revelation. The program is tremendously varied, with both danceable pieces and more abstract, darker compositions that beautifully exploit the instrument's warm sonority. I had the pleasure of seeing Cotto perform live recently: he is a dynamic performer whose mastery of this difficult instrument looks effortless. No one will regret purchasing this.

      Your CD is a landmark on the history of latin music written for the marimba because it is one of the few available on this particular genre. The repertoire is very well balanced, your performance perfect while Giovanni Hidalgo's participation gives the authentic latin touch. A+ to you, congratulations!

      I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to this cd. The marimba is enchanting...the music of Orlando Cotto both soothing and complex. My favorites on this unique cd are Caribenos and Piedra en la Piedra. Great stuff!

      Every time I play this CD my mind goes to those places reserved for your soul to go and enjoy. The performance of the artist is nothing less than subliminal and the selection of the music was excellent. I can't wait for his second album.
