Across an Ocean of Dreams

They reached their namesake year, but unlike Arthur C. Clarke's 2001: A Space Odyssey or George Orwell's 1984, the group 2002 never offered great expectations. Across an Ocean of Dreams sounds pretty much like their last several albums, which means lots of women's choirs oohing and aahing in celestial bliss, Enya-esque pizzicato strings, and meandering melodies. 2002 aspires to a quiet classical grandeur, but at a sluggish pace that makes Yanni sound as if he's on an adrenaline high. Wrapping you in faux-velvet gauze, they muffle the very air coming from your speakers. Late in the album, "Lady of the Moon" almost cuts through with a plaintive mix of acoustic and electric guitars, a bit of Renaissance recorder, and a breathy woman's chorus. But by then, you've been smothered to death. --John Diliberto

Product Description
What does the ocean dream? Glimpse into the depths of jeweled waters and the fantasia within. Surrender to the siren call. Come! Be transported under the waves, flowing with 2002's delicate strings, guitar, flute, keyboard and distant voices of angels of the deep. 2002 - Favorites on Billboard's New Age Chart for the past five years!

5 out of 5 stars Across an Ocean of Dreams.......2007-05-08

This is a collection of some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard. It is wonderfully transporting. I have been recommending this CD to everyone since I first heard it.

5 out of 5 stars Good music to sleep by........2007-01-09

I found this CD very unique in many respects. Its composition and choice of musical instruments lends its self in a class of its own! Very relaxing indeed.

5 out of 5 stars sothing.......2006-05-15

this cd is so relaxing that it put me to sleep the first time i heard it. The music is relaxing that it takes your mind off of stuff. And it's good music to listen to if you read and listen to classical music like i do. Trust me it works. the best song on this cd is. The Ocean Dreams.

5 out of 5 stars For All New Age Fans.......2005-08-02

If you like New Age music, you have to pick up some 2002. Across an Ocean of Dreams is a great place to start. Also great are some of their other titles which I own in addition to Across an Ocean of Dreams called River of Stars, Chrysalis, This Moment Now, and Land of Forever. Get some or all of the albums I mentioned. Trust me, they are worth it.

5 out of 5 stars Great Massage Therapy Music.......2004-06-10

I am a massage therapist and discard many cds before I choose one to use for my clients. This is one I have added to my personal and professional collections. This is definetly a keeper!

Although I love Enya, I will not use it in the therapy room. Voices, drum beats and fast sections of music do not allow total relaxation. The mind follows popular/familiar musical remakes...so all those are also eliminated.
