Album Description

I didn't care for this CD at all. I'm not sure if it's the singer's voices or what. I would find it difficult to listen to this CD during any type of meditation.

I should have listened to the reviews, I didn't care for the CD. I have many yoga CD's and was disappointed with this one. There are many that are better.

I have practice Kundalini Yoga for eight years. And this CD contains all (well, most of the essential ones) the music and mantra. As a new Kundalini Yoga teacher, this certainly comes in handy that I can share in the class. I really appreciate the thoughtfulness of publishing this CD.

This music has been specifically created with Osho for the Osho Kundalini Meditation, one of the series of revolutionary "Active Meditations" described in Osho's book "Meditation: The First and Last Freedom," from St. Martin's Press and others, and also available from amazon.com. These Active Meditations are designed for the modern restless mind. They lead you from physical activity to an experience of silence. Other meditations in this series, each with its own music, and also available from amazon.com, are Osho Dynamic Meditation, Osho Nadabrahma Meditation and Osho Nataraj Meditation. Osho Kundalini Meditation has four stages of 15 minutes each, three with music and one without. The first stage: "Be loose and let your whole body shake, feeling energies moving up from your feet. Let go everywhere and become the shaking. Your eyes may be open or closed." The second stage: "Dance . . . any way you feel, and let the whole body move as it wishes." The third stage: "Close your eyes and be still, sitting or standing . . . witnessing whatever is happening inside and out." The fourth stage: "Keep your eyes closed, lie down and be still." I have a number of albums by Snatam Kaur and have been fortunate enough to see her at the Ashram here in Altamonte Springs, Florida during Winter Solstice. Each album gets better. This one is produced by Thomas Barquee. While you're at it, you should check out his album "The Sound of Om" because it's fantastic as well. Between Snatam's expanded experience as a musician and spiritual seeker, and Barquee's experience as a producer and musician, a fantastic combination emerges. Very beautiful, relaxing, contemplative, yet brimming with energy. This is not just an album to chill out to, but a great album to actively listen to or practice yoga to.

For those who are new to Snatam, many of the lyrics come from Kundalini Yoga. If you can only get one of her albums, this would be it. The others I would recommend include "Celebrate Peace" and "Grace."

Snatam is one of today's most popular New Age artists; in 2005 she was the only performer to place THREE albums in the New Age Retailer's Top 20. Snatam now adds to her series of superb recordings (like "Prem," "Shanti," and "Grace") another absolutely brilliant CD. There's a beautiful balance between slower, more contemplative music that pulls you effortlessly into meditation, and faster tempo pieces that make you want to dance. If you enjoy contemporary sacred music, be sure to check out this terrific artist.

This is a beautiful album that reaches into your heart and soul. Snatam Kaur is an angel with a heavenly voice. It is excellent!!!! I highly recommed it as well as her other CDS.

      Album Description

      These two audio CDs of four guided meditations produced by Dennis K. Chernin, M.D., M.P.H. accompany the book How to Meditate Using Chakras, Mantras, and Breath. They may also be used separately without reference to the book. These meditations have been handed down from teacher to student for thousands of years and systematically lead the student to more relaxed and deeper states of awareness.

      Both beginning and more experienced students can use the four meditations presented in these CDs. Until a person feels comfortable meditating and establishes a steady and consistent practice, he or she should progress slowly through the following phases. Each of the four meditations follows the same sequence before they progress to the next complexity level. A person may decide to stop at any phase or may want to work with the more detailed practice. It is recommended to spend at least two to four weeks on each meditation before progressing to the next meditation practice. The mantra used in this meditation is the universal mantra OM. One should feel free, however, to substitute his or her own personal mantra, if one has been give to them by their meditation teacher. It is important to become familiar with the geometric form of the chakras or energy centers described in this meditation before adding color to them. To help with the visual images of the chakras, one can refer to the front cover of this CD.

      For those listening to the CDs and who are also reading the book, the seven phases of the meditation of the book have been integrated into the four meditations on the CDs. On the first CD, meditation I incorporates phases one, two, and three of the book and meditation II summarizes phases four and five. On the second CD, meditation III corresponds to phase six and meditation IV presents the completed meditation found in phase seven.

      At the beginning of the first CD, there is a short introduction. Before each of the four meditations, there is a prolonged presentation of the mantra OM that lasts about two and one half minutes. The world famous drummer, Muruga Booker plays the background drums and cymbals for this part. While this is not part of the actual meditation, it is meant to create a meditative mood and a sense of relaxation.

      These meditation practices can help the listener experience deeper inner personal calmness and joy, to feel and experience greater compassion and love for others, and ultimately leading to a sense of expanded consciousness.

      This is such a great album! Excellent album to meditate and massage with. I use it all the time on my clients. When I play this album to my clients I don't have to work as hard. Both Tajalli and Suzanne Doucet are initiates of the Sound Current. With Tajalli's Shamanic drumming and Suzanne's magical fingers on the keyboards brings the Sound Current to you. I had the privilege to play music with them and by playing live with them has transform my music.

      Tajalli and Doucet's "Tantra Zone" is a fitting piece in the puzzle of Taj's Life. I believe "Billy" as we called him is smiling as usual on this work. If he ever frowned it would never last too long. It would eventually blossom into a beautiful symbol of human emotion. This is a great album to meditate to or just chill out. It is filled with happiness and pondering thoughts that evoke a study into the deep self-truth we all have. Suzanne's keyboard playing and arrangements out of her beloved Kurzweils give and do not take anything away from the mix. She is truly a master in minimalism. I have had such an honor to play and learn with these two artists as well as be part of their lives. "Billy" is away from this dimension but he is still here in our hearts, thoughts and music.

      Tajalli was a Shaman, a spiritual teacher and a musician. He was a gentle and loving being. He left his body in 2004, but his music stays with us. "Tantra Zone" is a wonderful recording, a collaboration with Suzanne Doucet shortly before he passed on. He plays multiple instruments on this recording, like the koto-synth on "Orange Blossom", but on the other tracks mostly drums and percussion instruments. Suzanne provides beautiful ambient synth pads and melodies. Both musicians are initiates of the Sound Current. The energy of the recording is transcending and evokes the feeling of being unconditional love.
