5 out of 5 stars Better than Starbucks with a scoop of Crack!.......2007-03-25

I got into this album when I was still in the Marines. When I felt like getting into that violent mindset I needed for my day this album never failed to put me there. Can't recommend it enough!

5 out of 5 stars Lovely...luh luh luh luh luh luh luh luh lovely.................2005-06-06

Suicidal Tendencies is one of those metal bands that I knew of when they were popular but I didn't really start listening to them until many years later. I was only familiar with some of their earlier hardcore-punk-type stuff, like 'Institutionalized'. A friend of mine started listening to them and slowly but surely, I really started to dig them too. This was the first album I bought, after listening to a few of them with my friend. I would say this is my favorite album by them.

If I could describe this era of Suicidal Tendencies, it reminds me of the Red Hot Chili Peppers if they were a metal band! And this is probably why I never really liked the RHCP...because they're not metal!

'You Can't Bring Me Down' is an anthem for rising up above those who piss you off. It has a nice metal intro ala Metallica that starts slow and builds to an onslaught. I've heard people complain that this is 'comemrcial' ST, whereas I believe they had not fully matured or developed when they reached this point. This album could be considered 'over-produced' when compared to their earlier music, but I never would have really gotten into them if they never advanced to this level.

When I say the music sounds like Red Hot Chili Peppers, for example in 'Lost Again,' there's a part at the end that goes "Something's gone wrong with me/I guess I got lost in reality," and all I can picture is the singer of RHCP and then after the vocals the guitars play a fast rhythm that matches the previous melody. We also hear some of this on 'Lovely' - there's something really enjoyable about "Lovely...luh luh luh luh luh luh lovely." or "I feel lovely/la la la lovely ow how."

I'm also not one to appreciate lyrics too much, but these guys write some really great stuff. They deal with realistic themes such as hate, fear, depression, anxiety, stress, even the ridiculousness of televangelists in 'Send Me Your Money': "Here comes another con hiding behind a collar/His only god is the almighty dollar/he aint no prophet, he aint no healer/he's just a two bit goddamn money stealer."

This cd is really all over the place, and individual songs even vary greatly from softness to heaviness within themselves. This is one of those albums where I never skip over any of the songs. The lyrics are meaningful and applicable to most real people, and you'll learn all the songs quick and you'll sing them to yourself all day long.

To those new to Suicidal Tendencies, I would recommend you buy this album or ART OF REBELLION. Both of them are great places to start.

5 out of 5 stars I Feel Lovely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2005-02-18

Suicidal Tendencies are on of my all time favorite bands and their album Lights...Camera...Revolution is their greatest. This album is recomended to anyone who wants kick-ass "cheerful metal." Highlights on this album are "Lovely" "Discos Out Murders In" and "Give It Revolution".

5 out of 5 stars When your emotion gets the best of you.......2004-05-02

Everyone wants to control your life. Everyone tells you what to do and how to live. This is the album that breaks all the rules and fights hard to destroy the opposition. When life's problems are too much to aborb there's always one band to tune to: Suicidal Tendencies. Powerful up front lyrics, powerful guitars and sections of interludes that makes you free.

3 out of 5 stars A dying flame........2004-04-27

It was interesting reading all of the opinions on this album.I'm probably some where in the middle.I love ST ,I've been listining to them about 16 years.Plain and simple, ST's first 3 albums are the best.In order 1.self title + How WILL I LAUGH...
(can't decide) 2.Join The Army. That's were rating this album comes in.I've been spoiled listening to those 3 great albums,so obviously this album doesn't cut it!When I hear this album the chemistry is just not there as it once was.Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing this album completely.I rather listen to this album over 90% of rock that comes out today.Stand out tracks are ALONE(very good),YOU cant bring me down(good),and the rest of the songs are just okay. With the exception of one song,SEND ME YOUR MONEY(WHAT THE F#@! WERE THEY SMOKING),horrible song.If people want to rate this album, compare it to the best first.p.s It's good to hear new ST,CHECK OUT FREEDUMB,NOT THE MOST O.G OR POLISH ALBUM BUT THE BOYS ARE HAVING FUN AGAIN.
